Eric was amazing! I am from out of town and when I got into an accident I had absolutely no idea which mechanic to go to. I just randomly chose him after a quick Google search and he was more than helpful! He was honest, fast, really reasonably priced, and just an all around great guy. He does good work. But hes unable to commit to a day to bring your vehicle in. He needs you to call back in a couple days to see what his schedule is like. But once he had your car, hell do a thorough job!

Treated me more fairly than I probably deserved. My 1998 Subaru Legacy started shaking violently driving south on US-41 at the beginning of a weekend trip to Detroit from Green Bay. I called AAA Roadside Assistance, and they towed me here. I called beforehand to make sure theyd be able to look at my car that day, and the owner was very frank with me - he couldnt promise that it would be fixed today, but hed be able to look at it.When I arrived, he was immediately able to look at my car. He did not find anything obvious so he took it for a test drive. When he returned, he informed me that the car was behaving completely normally, but he believed me about the issue and would give it a thorough check before sending me back on the road. He was able to see that another mechanic had incorrectly installed the CV axle, and that my ball joints were pretty rusty, but neither of these would have caused the problem. He fixed the CV axle (it was a quick fix), and I decided not to do the ball joints that day since I wanted to get back on the road.I was not charged at all for him to look at my car, and the owner refused my offer for a tip. He probably invested an hour and a half of his time that day looking at my car. Im not saying that you should come here expecting free service, however, I think that the owner of this shop has to be the most honest person I have ever met that works with cars. I dont expect to be in the Gurnee area again any time soon, but I would wholeheartedly recommend this shop to anybody that is.

This outfit knows what it’s doing.I had my car towed here through AAA. I came in thinking that my car was going to need a new starter for its ignition. Eric, one of the proprietors there, thoroughly inspected my car and found out that the anti-theft system was somehow activated. He cleared it from the car computer and the car runs just fine now! I was expecting to have to pay maybe $300 or maybe even more, and he did it free of charge!During the same visit, I requested an oil change and he went above and beyond. He drove me home rather than letting me wait at the shop. Then, he noticed that my keys were broken, and he managed to fix one of them without my asking, and offered tips on how to keep the keys in good condition. And, where I have been to other mechanics where all they did was change the oil, he not only changed the oil but did a 33 point inspection and tire rotation.I will be coming back for all of my maintenance needs. Well done, Maclagan’s.

AAA towed my car here after it broke down. They took a look at it the next day since it was 8 PM and they were closed when it got towed. They found out what was wrong and it was a simple fix. Honest mechanics and helped me out when I was in a bind.

Eric the owner is a standup guy. My car had broken down on the expressway and it was towed to his shop. He took a look at it and was very honest about the issues, price and wether or not I should spend the money. Not one time did I feel like he was being dishonest. He came across as very genuine and friendly.In addition to that, he did not charge me for my car to sit in his lot for nearly 2 weeks until I could get it towed. I have no idea if thats normal practice for him but because he did that for me it meant alot. His shop is a little over a half an hour away from me but after this experience, Im willing to drive the distance to have him work on any of my future car repairs.

Great people to work with fixed everything right the 1st time

Ive brought my car here a couple of times for service and always had a good experience. I felt like their prices were honest and fair. As a young woman there are a lot of car repair shops that try to fix more than what is required or overcharge. They told me my options and gave me professional advice. I would take my car here again.

Took my daughters car there for an O2 sensor error. Was told the O2 censor was being triggered by a faulty catalytic convertor; estimated costs of repairs $1,200+. At the suggestion of a friend, took the vehicle to Antioch Auto Center and was told that there was an exhaust leak, which caused the O2 censor to trigger. Antioch Auto center patched the exhaust; 2 hours and $40 later, I was on my way. Really disappointed; Ive used MacLagans in the past and cant say I will in the future.

Their customer service is horrible. I went to the shop and nobody was at the front to assist me then when I called the number the person who answered was very rude and unprofessional I will never be using their services or recommend anyone to do so!
