The staff at Cottman was awesome, they were really informative and took the time to show me and explain what was wrong with my car. Cottman maintained great communication for the short time they had my car. I received estimates for my new clutch from several places, but they were the most competitively priced and friendly. My car is now running great! They also have a cute dog for you to pet:)

When I first started going to this shop over a year ago Betty was the receptionist and although she is gone and I miss her dearly the new receptionist Kim is just as great. I absolutely love these guys, they are literally the best in the business. Once I gain trust for a company the way I have Cottman I refuse to take my car anywhere else. My most recent experience with them I took my car to them to have repairs done through an insurance claim with Allstate. The shop and Allstate worked flawlessly together to get me taken care of. I have to give Clay (the shop owner) and my mechanic Joe a shoutout because these guys really went above and beyond for me. Not only did they get the front end suspension of my car back to driving like new Joe looked at my file with them seen that I only use full synthetic oil in my car and did an oil change for me for free. Kim, Casey, Joe and Clay you guys rock and are all stars in my opinion. I will never even consider taking my car to anyone else. If you need a good reliable car mechanic then I urge you to try them one time and I promise you will not regret it.

Our car has transmission problem while driving from SC to ST.L at Spartanburg..Luckily we could contact Cottman transmission and met Mr.Micheal who really gave us a great service...he also took his time to drive us to get a rental car although we couldnt get one...

Betty was very thorough in checking out my Suburban. She explained ways we could try to get more life out of the transmission instead of replacing it and also found some other issues that need addressed.If you are looking for a Honest Shop this is it! Based on previous reviews, I had my car serviced at Cottman Total Auto Care. Betty, the Manager, was very friendly and knowledgeable of the services I needed. My car was serviced and repaired professionally, efficiently and at a reasonable cost. Joe, the mechanic, was very nice and referred me to another shop for repair of a water leak in the tail light. I have an older, but reliable car and feel that Ive found a repair shop I can count on.

My husband and I took his Toyota Tundra for what we assumed was going to be CV Axle repair. They got us in quickly and had the repair needed diagnosed in no time. I wanted to state a short review of my experience with Cottman Transmission in Greenville SC. This transmission shop is a decent shop to bring your vehicle to and the staff is fair and I will explain briefly. The cost of repairs for my transmission was $2,136. The issue was the valve body and the torque converter was bad. The vehicle shifted great after the transmission being rebuilt. Just recently there was a simple problem with a quick fix after several months of having the transmission rebuilt from Cottman. Upon last night my son was on his way home the transmission would shift to reverse and neutral and would not shift down into drive, I started studying on several videos and pondering my own mechanical knowledge and upon looking over my transmission I found that my transmission shift linkage was loose enough to allow the cable to slide only allowing the transmission to shift to reverse and neutral. I fixed the issue myself and was giving Cottman Transmission a courtesy call to allow them to know the most recent issue, immediately upon letting the staff know to double check their work and to let them know that I missed a days wage because I had to miss a day of work to fix the vehicle because of a mistake by her mechanic, I offered to send the office lady “Betty” pictures and a video of my finding and was immediately repulsed by her answer and she ultimately defended her mechanics and made it seem to me that it was something that I had done that caused the issue. I stated to her that I have no reason to lie or make an accusation unless I had the facts to back it up. If you choose to go to Cottman Transmission on Pleasantburg Dr. in Greenville S.C please be sure to ask the staff to double check or matter of fact triple check their work. I expect 100% satisfaction and 100% quality work from the mechanics I hire for my money and my time, this is the same reason I allow enough time to pass and let a vehicle get broken in before I write a review. I had a really great experience with Cottman! Joe and everyone else were so helpful. They performed a 21 Point check on my car (for FREE!) So I was aware of all of the things that needed to be taken care of. The repairs were done fast and my car is running great. They were even nice enough to give me a ride back to work when I dropped my car off. I shouldnt be needing any other repairs any time soon, but if I do, I know Im taking it back to Cottman and will refer all of my friends and family there!! Thanks guys!

I brought our family van in for a coolant leak check, another shop had told me it needed a new water pump for $700. So I brought it to Cottman of Greenville and spoke with the manager Kenneth. They did a free inspection and all it needed was a hose and bleeder housing. I am so pleased with the fast turn around and honesty of the staff. For a fraction of the cost, our van was fixed, and they even washed it for me! Great service and a knowledgeable friendly staff with a convenient location. I have found my new automotive repair facility. Thanks again to everyone.

I would give -5 stars if I could. This place is a complete joke. Clay the guy running the shop knows absolutely nothing. He doesn’t know anything about transmissions and knows even less about how to run a business. Stay far away from this place, there are much better alternatives. Do your research before you drop your hard earned money on a major repair. This place will disappoint guaranteed.

Simply awesome customer service! My daughter was experiencing transmission rough shifting problems in her Cobalt. I took it to a close by auto service center and they said they didnt have the proper tools to service the transmission and recommend Cottmans. Ive never used this place before so Im always skeptical about new garages... They found a broken wire on a harness under the hood... I would have never found it. This is the point where a shady business would try to take advantage of you, but these guys were honest about what they found and fixed it really inexpensively. Brought my van in for a noise. Knew it was going to be internal engine work. They were priced great, up front and communicated the whole time it was there. Would highly recommend to anyone and will be going back for anything else our vehicle needs.

This is a great shop and they do not lie and overcharge like alot of shops do. I had a rearend rebuilt here a while ago and they did a great job no problems at all labor only cost me about 600 bucks I supplied the parts. I see alot of reviews here about them being slow but alot of you guys need to realize this shop does get busy alot. Another plus I had was after my repair they completely cleaned my car was not excepting that at all awesome service. One more thing I wanna point out alot of transmisson repairs are expensive so dont be surprised when your quoted 3k to 4k for a rebuild on newer cars. Your best bet is to buy a brand new transmission for that price and have them install it. This is a great honest shop youd be surprised how many shops are scum bags Ive had shops in the past steal stuff out of my car and then lie about it.

I had to have a pretty hefty repair done to my car recently, Kenneth (one of the most intelligent people Ive ever had a conversation with) explained to me, someone who knows absolutely nothing cars, what needed to be done so even I could understand. Joe and his crew fixed my car right away and even when my car was giving me problems days later they took it in right away and fixed it free of charge. Cottman Trans will always have my business.

I had previously been told by the dealership that my CVT transmissionneeded replaced. The Cottman front office manager felt that it mightbe another problem. She was right. ( $ 500 instead of $3300. )

After I requested check before long trip I,was charged for AC diagnosis which is four times higher...all cuz I wore a mask I was taken advantage of.

They fixed everything they said they would.. I didnt have the money right away and they worked with me away.. took me right at a yr to pay it off and they still gave me no problems.. best place in Greenville SC..

They did a great job, just one issue: i had broke down and needed an alternator. They came and got my car off the road and said theyd hope to have it done quick. What i did not know, was the fact that they were not open during the weekend, so i had to wait another three days to get my vehicle.

Had my clutch replaced and these guys did a great job. I trusted their assessment and they knew what they were doing. I will be recommending and using them for future work.

They are very slow and keep getting the run around with the shop. They had my wife vehicle for 3 weeks and all they did was blame the warranty company. I called the warranty company and was told that were otherised to fix it weeks ago. Customer service is lacking. I would never use them again not will I recommend there service. They still could not get my wifes vehicle fixed. If any one talks with Chris or Joe nether one has a clue what goes on in there shop

Alignment service is listed on Cottmans website, but when I called to make an appointment, the woman who answered said they dont do alignments.

I took my 91 Jeep YJ to Cottman last December to have the rear end rebuilt. Had a nice experience at that time. I now live in Baltimore Maryland. Since the original work was performed, I have encountered an issue that should be covered under warranty. I called and talked to Ted about my options. He was extremely professional, very courteous and went out of his way to help me find a Cottman as close to me as possible. He even called the location, confirmed I was still under warranty and gave them a heads up that I would be coming in.I would recommend this shop to all of my friends and family. I understand that sometimes issues are encountered after work is performed. Thus the need for a warranty. I only wish that the many other places I have had work done honored their word like Ted at Cottman in Greenville is doing.

Got transmission installed brought home transmission was leaking took transmission back they said that they put too much transmission oil in . Drove car home next morning got up there is a huge puddle of transmission fluid underneath the car called in on Monday they said bring car and I brought a car and they said they going to put another Transmission in that be the second transmission. They called the car was done I got it . next When went to workmorning I got up to go to work and it was leaking.. its not just leaking near drain it was leaking where transmission and motor meet there was transmission fluid everywhere . They gave me 90 days for transmission problems and its been broke every day ... dont waste your money dont go there take it somewhere else or just get it rebuilt its cheaper good my cars been in there 5 times you going on the 6th Im still leaking. Dont let no one put a used transmission in for you because never going to get it right the first time... I paid $2,600 for one thing problems I hired lawyer so Ill get my money back or more...

I visited Cottomans last year around this time do to a transmission transfer case issue. Joe took his time to explain to me all the details and the work that needed to be done. I took my 2003 suburban 4x4 to cottman a month ago or more. My truck was ready within 1st week my quote was 1600 to 1800 bucks but I get a call saying it would be more than 4000. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and very quick. They rebuilt my factory transmission, I picked it this morning seems to drive well except for weird noise and jerk from my rear end. Thank goodness for the warranty Im pleased with service , but for $4392.00 I shouldnt be having any issues. See you guys soon........... well only been a year now since cottman transmission ripped me a new one truck has been back 3 times still not right oh and 4400 dollar transmission does not include transmission cooler or the lines lol wasnt leaking before but it is now screw you guys

Do not trust this shop!! I took my car for an estimate and it cost me 3000!! I never advised anyone to take my car fully apart!! Beware!!! They change their story dependant on who they are talking to. One story for my wife, another for myself. Check their bbb file!!

I recently took my Hyundai Tiburon to cottman transmission for a clutch and fly wheel replacement and I couldnt have asked for a better job on the car, the clutch is smooth and fixed my bucking, gear grinding, and car jerking problems. They really work with you and are very honest, they tell you everything thing they did and had to do to fix the problem. I will say that it did take a while for it to be completed but they explained in detail why it would and it was mostly because of the rust and complication with a defective clutch kit I ordered online.... Btw DONT Order a clutch online!!!! ... Just bite the bullet and pay for a clutch through cottman because they had to rip out the defective one and replace it so they had to do double the work, they also did a nice job on the struts and tie rods which also fixed the bumpy ride and play in the steering wheel, therefore it has much better handling. Finally they worked with me on the price and were willing to do a payment plan. I will be taking my car here from now on the customer service is great , TY for working with me

I took my Ford Explorer 2010 SUV to Cottman Transmission on South Pleasantburg Drive across from Krispy Creme Doughnuts and talked with Joe and eventually Clay and left the vehicle with them for a few days. They inspected my transmission for $50.00 dollars and removed the pan to find my issues and I was told it would cost from $1800 to as high as $4800. I was told there was sedimnt and metal pieces in the transmission pan and that I would need a whole new tranasmission and this would fix my issue. I then thought over this process and came to the conclusion that I would sale the vehicle due to the cost factor of the matter and purchase a used vehicle instead. I sold this vehicle to another individual and a few days later he called me back and said thank you for the wonderful vehicle and I found the problem with the throttle and other issues in the transmission. The gentlemen told me he purchased the 5 selenoid pack for around $150 and his mechanic did the job and fixed the whole transmission issue and the throttle issue for a total price of $300. I called Clay Beecham and asked him how another individual could have fixed this issue so cheaply and the response was I told you. I then called the Cottman Transmission Corporate Headquarters in Pennsylvania and talked with him and he said I will get to the bottom of this issue tomorrow. Today came and at 4:15 p.m. I finally got a call from headquarters and the man said well I talked with Clay and Clay isnt going to give you your money back as you have already probably guessed. I was stunned but the guy from Pennsylvania said he would mail me a check for $50.00 reimbursement check and I would receive it sometime next week. I called Clay back and he said I am not going to argue with you about this issue and hung the telephone up on me. Clay also said well I just dont believe this story and said he cannot just go to the Ford dealership and purchase Selenoid Packs. This shop doesnt care about you or your family except to rid you of your cash flow and that is the bottom line. If this shop was any good they would have made the right choice and made this issue right but instead when you call to discuss the matter they hang up on you.

This place is a complete joke i dropped a driveshaft off for repair and was told we will call you i ended up having to call them then i was told i meant to call you but i was busy then i tell them to only replace one u-joint they replace both without my approval did things i specifically said not to do then charge me $150 i get the driveshaft in the truck and they used the wrong u-joint incompetence at its best
