My husband and I moved here about 6 months ago and love it! Kaitlyn, Heather and Sarah are always very friendly and professional. The maintenance team are top notch. The grounds, clubhouse, fitness rooms and pool are beautiful. And, it is the quietest place we’ve ever lived, especially surprising with all the dogs on the property. Keep up the good work!

I moved here one and half year ago and my experience has been good overall so far. The complex is a little old but is well maintained. I encountered some issues when I first moved in, but the maintenance team got everything fixed quickly. They even changed one brand new washer for my apartment because the old one had some hair that could not be cleared out. The staffs in the office are friendly and efficient also.My only complaint about this place is cockroach infestation. In the night you could see cockroaches on the walkways outside the buildings. And I could find cockroaches occasionally in my apartment between May and October, although I have kept my apartment clean since I moved in and never left food open. I understand that it is hard for a relatively old apartment complex to completely eliminate roaches, but the cockroach infestation here is a bit beyond my tolerance.

I love living at this community. I moved here a few months ago after living at numerous other apartment complexes and have been blown away by the customer service of the staff. Although the maintenance team is busy, they are always quick to respond and take care of any issues that I have. The property is older, but the management company really takes care of the landscaping and the renovations of the inside are awesome. The girls at the front office are so friendly and always put on great events at the clubhouse. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Just moved in to this apartment complex. The entire move in process from taking/scheduling a tour initially, to the application process, to preparing for the move-in was made easy by the very thorough communication by Sarah. So, the first impression was quite positive and it was good to get started on a great first step.

When looking for our daughters first apartment we were very concerned about how the complex would operate in the areas of service, security, and community events. Hawthorne at the Carlyle exceeded our expectations in all of these areas. Her first year, living on her own, was not only fun for her but a joy for us. The agents in the office were always very pleasant and extremely helpful. The maintenance crew was timely and knowledgeable. Hawthorne has continued to keep up their facility making it one of the nicest in Greenville. Thank you for making our experience such a good one. We highly recommend Hawthorne of The Carlyle to anyone who expects a great return on their leasing expense.

We have been residents of the Hawthorne at the Carlyle since early September of this year. I have been extremely pleased with both the facilities and the support of the staff. There is a great community here, and it feels more like a village than an apartment complex. The grounds are very well maintained and clean. On the few occasions that I needed maintenance, it was handled quickly. The location is also great, easy access to great shopping and dining. I highly recommend these apartments.

We moved in 3 months ago and love the location and the apartment! Everyone is nice, our neighbor came to say hi when we moved in which was nice. Its gated so you feel pretty safe. We barely hear our neighbor that connected to our walls so I guess the walls are pretty thick. From time to time they will have special events going on at the office. Sometimes they will also let food trucks or blood drive bus sitting in front of their leasing office. They have a space for lockers for your packages. There is a strip club Lust near by which can be seen from our apartment (just in case thats something that would influence anyone to move here lol) Two things that kept this review from getting 5 stars are :1. One day before move in we got a call from them saying the apartment wasnt ready because the bathtubs needs to be resurfaced. Now, we schedule our movers 2 weeks prior and the apartment was free 2-3 weeks before our move in date. We tried to see if our movers could move their slot to the afternoon instead of the morning but it was so last minute that they couldnt. We had to pay the mover about an hour or two just to wait for our apartment to be ready in the afternoon.2. We purchased our own renter policy and let them know, sent them an email of the copy and the $10 charge is still on our rent each month. I contacted them 3 times and they said they fixed it but I still got charge that $10 every month. One time they added the -$10 charge in there but that -$10 didnt carry over to next month (they posted it after I paid my rent) but then I still got charge for it a month later. After contacting them 3 times I gave up. Ill just have both renter insurance and pay for their insurance I guess. In conclusion I do recommend anyone that wants to move here its nice, its quiet and its safe. I just wish the office would make sure they do what theyre suppose to do.

I recently stayed in the guest apartment at Hawthorne at the Carlyle. The property is beautifully updated and well-maintained. Everyone from the property manager to the maintenance team was friendly and hard-working! The property is in a quiet secluded location, yet still very convenient to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment including the beautiful downtown Greenville area. I would highly recommend this property for anyone relocating to the Greenville area!

The current Hawthorne Staff are extremely responsive and accommodating, I see a lot of good changes happening here at this very special living complex. I particularly like the availability and friendliness of the management, you feel very good when you are communicating with them because they are listening to what you need and respond in kind. One of my favorite things is that the staff here always have a smile on their face and are happy to see you, what more could you ask for.

Lived here a few years ago. Office team was joke. I moved here from out of town to open a business. Decided on Hawthorne at the Carlyle because of the gated aspect since I had no idea what I was getting into. Apartments looked great, amenities looked great, and when I came down to visit they had a special running for first time tenants. This is where my positivity stops. When I finally moved down there, they said that they couldn’t honor the price. So as a new customer I had to pay full price (hundreds more a month), even though I filled out the paperwork. The amount of money I spent moving out of state, and opening a business, and they just hosed me for a couple grand. There was a giant puddle of foul smelling liquid in our hallway for months when I moved in, that no one seemed to care about, and maintenance was never sent to handle it until months later.First months rent check bounced because of a banking error, and they made me pay by certified check the remaining two years I lived there. Fair enough, you’re the boss, ok....Had extensive water damage on ceiling and office refused to fix it, and when they did they just patched it and didn’t replace trim (looked terrible).Gate was broken roughly a third of the time I lived there, and the gate was just kept open. Kind of pointless for a gated community then, isn’t it?Gym was never stocked. No towels, no water bottles. Machines were broken and fixed months later. No swimming in the pool after dark. Why? Who knows. Don’t stay in when it’s dark, they watch the camera and will threaten you with fines. They lost my rent check one month. Yes, actually lost it. Luckily they made me pay by certified check, or I wouldn’t have had any proof. Threatened me with both late fees AND eviction if I didn’t come up with a new check (at my expense) and to pay the late fees on top of it. Once I finally went and got a new certified check issued, they magically found my check hidden under papers on a desk in the office... wow. When I finally decided to move out, I bought a truck to help with moving about a month before I actually moved. Mind you, I didn’t have this truck registered at the office so this part was my fault. But they had my truck tagged and towed. Not only were there a crazy amount of unregistered cars in the lot, there was random trailers and such taking up multiple spaces, and I parked the truck in an area that’s always empty just to make sure I wasn’t taking spots from tenants. Like I said though, kind of my fault. What wasn’t my fault, is that they had my truck tagged and towed, then DENIED IT! I asked them where I can call to pick up my truck, and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. I ACTUALLY CALLED AND REPORTED THE TRUCK STOLEN. Not until much later when I called every tow lot in the area did I find my truck, which the owner said the office had tagged and towed. Had to pay a ridiculous amount to get it out of impound, all because the snarky office staff decided to lie to me about towing it for no apparent reason. So in summation, there are newer, less expensive apartments with better amenities in the area, with better customer service, at least without the office staff actively working against you. Avoid this place at all cost.

This place is amazing! My son and his girlfriend have lived at the apartment for over 7 months now and since the new management has taken over, Ive only heard spectacular things about the complex! The gym has been remodeled, foods trucks and events feel like they happen every week, the model unit looks like a 5 star hotel, and the employees are the best customer service you can ever ask for! Sarah: the leasing specialist was an incredible tour guide for my son and I when we first came to the apartment and has made my sons stay at Hawthorn a 10 out of 10! This place is a must stay if you have dogs as well, walking distance from a dog bar and a beautiful park with a fountain!!!

The experience I had moving into the Carlyle would be an understatement to say it was 10-10. From the welcoming staff, beautiful ( no really, beautiful) complex , communication and timely move in process & best of all - extremely dog friendly. I looked at 7 other apartments in the Greenville area- mind you not much less in cost and they did not even compare in the slightest. The area is clean, apartments are beautiful, well kept , well lit ( lots of windows ) , pool area is gorgeous , gym area with all the bells and whistles and you should see the dog grooming room. They host events such as dog treat days , popsicles ( alcohol and non infused ;) via limo ) the mail room is to die for as they not only care for their residents but the mail carriers too. Picture a volt room at the office that you’re emailed a code that pops open your box with your mail - special. I love it here more and more each day.

Having lived at the Carlyle since 2016, I can say I have been thoroughly impressed by the way the grounds have been kept, the amenities (pet spa, cyber cafe, gym, pool, package room, etc.), the professionalism of the grounds crew and their responsiveness, and the structure of the buildings (well-built). These have been the many reasons why I have stayed for so long. I’ve changed apartments each year due to availability of other units. But, I’ve been very happy with each unit. The reason for the two-star rating unfortunately, is more on a customer service front. There’s been some recent management changes and different staff now work in the office. I inquired about a unit that I had lived in before and was excited to see that it would be available around when my current lease is up. I went to the office to get things started and the next day, I had sent an email asking what would the rate be for that apartment, it ended up being $60 more a month than what I had seen online on Apartment List. I asked if they could adjust the rate to when I had first inquired about the apartment, and I told that’s not possible (which I know isn’t the case because I’ve ran into this similar situation before). So instead of seeing if the change in rate would be possible, the only other option (apparently) was to move into the apartment I first lived in, which doesn’t have all the upgrades and view that I was hoping to have.So from a customer’s perspective, the management should really try to lock in rates when a customer (existing or potential resident) inquiries about a unit. Yes, the rates are based on supply and demand of the property and they change daily, but this situation shouldn’t happen. It’s unfortunate that I have to give two-stars, but for someone who’s in the food service/hospitality industry (and a person in general), customer service is the first thing I notice. It’s unfortunate that I may be considering my upcoming fourth lease to be my last.UPDATE: I’ve been going back and forth with useless emails with the Regional Support Manager for over a week (almost two weeks), and after “nudging” along the pricing team, she still can’t get an answer from them or follow up timely...useless. Hence why I have now taken the review to one star. Basic and fundamental customer service goes a LONG WAY!

Hawthorne at the Carlyle in Greenville, SC is infested with roaches. I had to move out with my daughter and live in a hotel because we were getting sick. The bugs bring disease. The management does not care at all about their residents. It is like the gingerbread house.... everything looks good from the outside.... but once you get into your apartment... you will start to see the roaches little by little... cracks in walls, holes in corners, water damage.... the mold ... and worst of all the roaches walking on the walls and the floors...and scattering as you open the lights. It does not matter if you get your apartment sprayed every Thursday... the roaches will never go away. The complex was built in 1999 and has not been updated... maybe because they dont have the money or they just dont care. Stay away from this gated community... it is full of mold and roaches.

Hawthorne at the Carlyle is a disgrace! The staff treats their residents like dirt, and its so sad and unprofessional the way they were trained in the management field, if that even happened. I am shocked that members of the management staff would step out of their office and confront people while they are with their friends about money, issues, and especially the personal problems that the residents themselves approached management with IN PRIVATE. Everything should always be handled in the office or on the phone, its common knowledge. There are no confidential conversations with any of management, especially Ashton the assistant manager. She will harass you outside of the office- its disgusting. Management should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to residents. I was taught in business school to leave my personal home problems outside of work, but its so obvious no one in management was taught that.

Its amazing how much a place can change in a year. I moved here in March 2018 and everything was great! Good neighbors & a clean environment. About November 2018 things really started going downhill. I had the trashiest neighbors start moving in. The place reeked of weed all the time. I went to the office to see if anything could be done, and they were not helpful. They said we would need to call the courtesy officer to get a third party involved. We did and no one did anything. Someone else in my building had enough and called the cops. We then had cops coming to my building a couple of times a week. New neighbor doing weed moved in behind our apartment, and my bedroom smelled like weed for a week (not to mention we could hear his TV through our wall). I had another neighbor park in my spot (literally sharing my parking spot) just to prove a point that that is where he parks. I went to the office and showed them a picture and she said shed call her manager but please dont say anything to the neighbor. I wasnt going to wait for someone to take care of it cause they never do. Something needed to be done right then because I couldnt even open the door to my vehicle. I went to the apartment and asked the man to move his car. His wife came outside and started cussing me out for f***ing with her husband and started threatening me.Our A/C was never working right. Our power bill was regularly over $100 for a 750 sq ft apartment. They finally fixed it the last two months we stayed there. Power bill was cut in half. They gave us our new rent agreement 11 DAYS before we needed to decide if we were staying. After never addressing a single one of our complaints, and seeing the place get trashy, our rent went up $70! I could not believe that.We had one weekend to find a new place and thats exactly what we did. This place looks nice on the outside, but I have nothing good to say about it. The management is unresponsive, everything had to get bumped up to someone not there, and I couldnt be less pleased with how everything ended over here. One girl in the office saw we werent renewing our lease and said if we did, we could get $200 off the first months rent. I told her if they could take care of the people smoking weed wed reconsider. She said shed reach out and get back with me but never did. Just know if you live here, youll have to take matters in your own hands. And kill plenty of roaches.

Best apartment complex in Greenville by far. We looked and looked and looked at EVERYTHING. This is literally THE ONLY place that offers a garage attached to the apartment and a little bit of privacy at the same time. The grounds are beautiful and hilly terrain, its close to everything that matters, the new community additions are awesome, the staff is great (even after the buyout!) and the culture of tenants has remained peaceful, which is tough to find. Dog crap is controlled with DNA testing! I would not move to another rental while living in Greenville. They have expectations of their tenants and it shows. Dont move here if you want to be loud and disrupting of people around you. Next step for us is to find another city or buy a home. We wont leave. This place is worth the money. Dont be turned off by the price if you can afford it. We saved a hundred bucks a month by moving to another complex when we first arrived in Greenville. Big mistake. This place is awesome for the more mature couples and families looking for a bit of class.
