I made an online appointment to get a trailer hitch put on my vehicle. The team working that day was efficient and friendly. They showed me an area to wait for my vehicle and let me know they would update me when it was done, estimated to be done in about an hour. Less than a 1/2 hour later I had the warranty in my hand and was out the door!

Call me corporate Uhaul: reservation 27156367, you have my number. I ordered a hitch and arrived on the scheduled date of install at this location. No hitch they told me, and Id have to come back and theyd call me when it came in. Height of Covid, no waiting allowed, far from my home, and I already drove there with two vehicles one time at an appointment they set, so I didnt reschedule right away when they called a week later. Now they report they installed the hitch three months after that. (I was waiting until winter was done by that point) Hmmm whose vehicle was that on? It certainly wasnt mine. The receipt they sent me proving they installed it has amounts changed from my online paid-in-full invoice, adding a $0.76 cash payment on the day of install. Shady stuff. There is a place for a customer signature too = blank. I’ll stay away from this location, and maybe Uhaul in general. Buyer beware, a lot. Crystal the manager is the person I dealt with. Edit 9/27/21, a month later: After posting this review, some chats with UHaul corporate, and 3 more calls to this location in the last month, they finally refunded me - turns out they have a $50 guarantee on honoring their appointments too - they of course didnt bring that up initially. In the end, they made it right, but Ill not be dealing with UHaul in the future. Newcomer Plow and Hitch in Holland did a fantastic job getting my hitch needs taken care of.

I had a great experience with my recent trailer rental. The staff was courteous and friendly and the equipment was in great shape. The online people were very helpful too. My overall experience was great. I will definitely be renting from this location again.

Made a hitch installation appointment weeks in advance. Appointment was cancelled day-of because they didnt have the parts. In the days that follow, after hours navigating call trees and nationwide customer support, its revealed that the parts wont be coming anytime soon. But theyre happy to help me last minute reschedule my 2500 mile move..... -_-Its a really bad experience to book installations when the parts are clearly on long-term backorder. I feel lied to and utterly screwed over. Guess Ill just demand my refund and badmouth U-Haul forevermore. :(

Great experience. Installed a hit and wiring on my car. Told me 2-3 hours and was done in an hour and a half, super quick with everything. Great job

This goes for all uhauls. I’ve had terrible customer service every time I call. The last time I went into the store was helped by someone who was more interested in his food than helping me. I will never do business with uhaul again and will let everyone I know to never do business with them as well.

While visiting GRR from out of town, we were rear-ended which destroyed our UHaul hitch. We needed another hitch to be able to tow a trailer of furniture back home, and while this location didnt have the part in stock, Brandon spent time and effort tracking one down at a UHaul in Holland so we could pick it up there. Very helpful!

Crystal was incredible. She helped us load, fixed a problem with our connector, and was so patient with us!! I will be going back to this location because of her.

I have had a great experience here. The manger did what she could, when she could. If you go in with it being all about you and want it now...disappointment will follow. You go in with respect and understanding with what it takes to run the place....then respect and understanding is what you will get along with quality work and service

Waited a half hour for an employee to show up on both pickup and dropoff. It would be one thing if there was a long line but both times I was the only one here and not an employee to be found.

Great for renting pickup trucks. Got me through a tough spot for towing a mower around after my main car went to the scrap pile. Way too busy lately, though. The last couple of weeks it has taken forever going through the rental process at the counter.Im giving a mostly bad review because theyre hitch service is horrible. I left work early because I could only reserve the installation time for mid afternoon. When I arrived I was informed that it would be about an hour and a half before they could get to my hitch. The hitch itself is on my new truck, so thats good. Dont expect them to wire to the plate built in to your truck: it looks like a wire connected to the battery powering the trailer module is the only way an aftermarket setup will work on my specific truck. So, my tip is, if your vehicle is brand new, just get the wiring done at your dealership or from the factory, if you can. The hitch itself looks very solid, though.

Poor communications. They installed a bike hitch crooked. While they offered to replace it is impossible to get it scheduled as they never answer the phone nor bother to call bad. Customer service left them multi messages and spoke (on store managers ) private cell number with her. She tells them she will call her customers but clearly does not. Poor customer service.

Service was prompt and extremely friendly. Im not sure Ive encountered better service anywhere for any other service. This may sound ridiculous and exaggerated, but it seems like courteous and professional, yet friendly and welcoming service providers are becoming fewer and further between. The U-Haul center on Plainfield is one of the last bastions of such service that Ive encountered in recent days. Thanks for the great experience!

Installed electrical for a hitch. It did not work correctly and we had to return to have it fixed. Had to take time off work both times. Just went to rent a trailer from U-Haul and lo and behold the electrical doesnt work correctly so we cant take the trailer. Do not use this company. A general manager would not okay a discount on using one of their vans since we would not be able to pick up furniture with the trailer that day.

Nothing but positive experiences here. Ive rented trailers and trucks on at least 5 different occasions from the Uhaul location on Plainfield and they have always had what I wanted on the lot. The paperwork process is fast and Im on the road in minutes. Theyre equally fast and helpful when I go in for a propane fill.The charges have seemed to go up over the years (mileage, insurance, etc) but I dont think theyre gouging anyone - Id rather pay a bit more to rent what I need the few time a year I need it than pay a much higher price to own and maintain the same equipment.

We were not informed on picking up our truck that is was due at a specific time nor were we informed that the furniture pads needed to be folded upon return.We were charged an extra day and $15 for folding the pads. I contacted the manager who told me it was in the contract and not his problem. Take it up with the location that rented it to me. Very poor customer service.I will not be using Uhaul in the future and will give my business to a company that provides transparency and honesty to their customers.

Rental truck great. Paid cash but needed card for deposit, truck returned perfect condition and signed off by Uhaul. 5 days later still have not returned my deposit. 5 days!! Very irritated!!

Very slow at times. Be prepared to wait a while. Im not going back there again for propane! I waste more time waiting then I would driving to a better place.

Had these guys fix some bad wiring in my Jeep for trailer lighting. They did a good job, and did it pretty quickly. Only knocking them a point for the price on the rentals. Every truck I rented from here cost me way more than I feel it should, though they do seem to be in line with other companies that do the same thing.

I have rented trailers twice from the Plainfield U-Haul location, and both times they had exactly what I wanted, they had them ready and waiting, and they were very helpful at both pickup and return. She was very helpful over the phone when I was making a reservation as well. I have used other locations around the GR area (including both locations on 28th st.), and by far this is the most helpful and friendly.

Had to get a tow dolly last weekend. They were pretty quick and no issues. Good customer service.

Called to make a reservation and was assisted by a very rude woman on the phone. I guess I should be sorry for having her do her job on this Tuesday morning. Hopefully when I pickup the trailer Ill have a better experience.

If I could select a negative star rating it would make this review more accurate.A) We went in 6 days before we needed a trailer and reserved a trailer with an agreed upon price.B) Employee messed up our days and we called back to a call center and got our reservation fixed. At this time we double checked the price and accuracy of our reservation and everything was good to go.C) 30 mins before the store closes the night before we were picking up the trailer we get a voicemail and e-mail stating our reservation had been canceled due to an employee quoting us at a wrong price.** excuse me, but you had 4 days to review this reservation and address the problem with us so we could budget appropriately or find another solution.D) the gentlemen who canceled the reservation said he would try to fix the problem and called me back an hour later (now any other business to try to rent from is now closed for the night and we are leaving tomorrow) with a new price 3 times more and states that they didnt even have the trailer we reserved at the location we requested.So they didnt even have our trailer at all,The call center okayed a price but the specific U-haul location denied it saying that it was flaggedAnd I find out the original employee got reprimanded when he called and verified the price while we were there.They broke our reservation within 24 hoursDidnt have the trailer we requested days priorCouldnt uphold a price both the location and the call center okayed originally...And were a family of six possibly out a trailer the day before we left when we did our due diligence and gave plenty of time to have everything ready.Get your act together Uhaul.I highly, highly highly recommend a different company or at least a different location.Also make sure that the price they say will indeed be the price, and that they will even have the equipment that you need available. This situation was handled very poorly.I understand mistakes happen but 30 mins before you close the night before the reservation is not the time to cancel a reservation and then state you dont even have the equipment.

They were helpful to find us a reservation for a truck and storage unit not too far, for a better budget price, and in all, was very friendly and patient to help us find what we need

Its Great if AL the manager wasnt always texting on his phone how ever it was work related. Lol. I have no complaints of this team. BEST STAFF! ALL OTHER UHAULS SHOUlD BE MORE LIKE PLAINFIELD Hes very curious and friendly. Mike helped out with trailer extremely professional and Crystal is an excellent attribute to the company.
