Great, professional staff!!So last month I rented a truck at a different location (truck-share type place down the street) and the truck needed a lot of attention. I saw this location and stopped in to see if they could help me. Three women came out and helped me get what I needed. They filled the truck with much needed oil, swept out the broken glass and debris left by others, cleaned the cab and kept apologizing for OTHER peoples lack of responsibility. Accolades are due the manager KaZya and her team. Thank you and I will recommend this place to others!

Tried 2 times to get propane refills. The first time the store was busy so I understood. The second time I waited for 15 minutes with no help, went inside and the store was empty. I watched 2 employees enter the store while I was waiting for help, I had to holler into the back for someone to come out. When they did, they were perturbed and asked what I wanted. I asked if they were filling propane today and the employee responded they were and for me.to go around back, ring the bell again and wait for someone and they would help me when they can. I asked how long and was told 15-20 minuets. It is important to note, the employee was obviously irritated I wanted help and was very short with me.There were multiple employees on site, no customers in the store and they couldnt help me for 20 minutes, ridiculous. I will never return to this location again.

Ive been here on two occasions, once for a truck rental and once for propane. For rentals, check online for availability ahead of time before coming in. For propane, youve gotta go between 12pm-6pm. Very nice people provided efficient service both times.

This U-Haul is like a hidden gem right on 28th street! First of all, if you EVER need boxes, look no further! Their boxes are the cheapest in town, by far.TIP—> if you have young kids or know of any, here’s a great birthday present for the imaginative types: go to U-Haul, get a bunch of big boxes, box tape, and markers/paint, and they can set up their own city/castle/maze/etc! My neighbor did this one year for a whole Superhero City for her kid’s birthday party. They played in it with the neighbors the entire summer!TIP—> They also have a bin around the corner inside with FREE (sometimes partially damaged) boxes! Easy peasy.So the staff was friendly and smiling when we came in, and we were amazed by the plethora of items available for purchase. Everything was reasonably priced. I know where I’m going when we move.....someday!

Propane fill up is unreliable. They do not have set hours and shut it down for the night when its convenient for them. Or when they dont have certified people to do it. You cannot reach them directly to call before coming. Phone rings to their central call center only. Very frustrating the number of times Ive driven here to get propane filled into my rv and leave with no propane. Will be looking someplace else.

I had an appointment on 6/11/21 at 2:30PM at U-Haul on 28th St SE, east of Centerpointe Mall, for a bike rack hitch to be installed. They said it would take 30 minutes. They didn’t pull our vehicle in until 5:30PM, 3 hours later. Then the U-Haul installer told me he couldn’t do the installation because it was too rusty underneath. Today, 6/14/21, I took our vehicle to JW Hitch in Jenison. The business owner looked underneath our vehicle said it looked in good shape. We scheduled an installation date for 2 1/2 weeks out, because he’s so busy. Lesson learned: Read the reviews BEFORE you go there. U-Hauls reviews aren’t very good for a reason. JW Hitch in Jenison has very good reviews.

Terrible service. I should have read the reviews before driving all the way there for propane fill. I show up a good 15 minutes before closing. There are ZERO customers in sight. They were dead. They wouldn’t fill my tank because they don’t fill tanks close to closing time! Never going to that site again!Now I read other reviews, and it’s clear this site has a customer service issue. I should have read reviews first.

Propane fill. Instructions say to pull up and ring bell. Pulled up, rang bell. Waited a couple minutes, nothing. Figured maybe they were busy and wouldnt be able to get to me for a while, so I pulled around and walked out to find out how long it would be. Mind you, no other customers present when I initially arrived on site, and still no customers on site. I politely asked how the propane works and I got a condescending, Ill be out there soon, sir. As if I was the biggest inconvenience of their entire day. This is literally you job. Take and ounce of pride in your work and do the job youre hired to do. Good news is propane price was good.

My husband and I have used these company several times for moving and picking up large furniture or for getting stuff for home renovations. It is move in day and we reserved a truck to move into our dream home, the general manager said that we had a outstanding balance on our account for a move we did is may. No issue we went into our online banking statements and the payment was clearly made. The general manager had no way to help us or fix it, we didn’t want to fight it so we said we would just pay it and she said oh no if you think you paid definitely call the 1(800) number. We called them and got redirected, no issues again the people were super nice and helpful, finally got to the correct 1(800) number and she agreed that it had been paid, she was super nice. All while this is happening the general manager was leaning behind the counter on her phone couldn’t even be bothered. We will never use U Haul again mostly this location, the people on the phone were so helpful, but the OWN GENERAL MANAGER decided to pick a fight about it when it was right on our account being shown to her. We are not ones to complain about customer service because my husband is a general manager in customer service and I worked in it for many years so we get it, but to be so careless and not wanting to help fix the issue is disappointing. General managers being on their phones just chilling in my opinion is terrible to show for the company and their own employees. Again in my opinion since of our experience.

Go elsewhere for propane! The system is that you ring a bell to get service. I did so and no one showed up. I went to the office where I asked the clerk if there were issues with the bell. She said, no, no one is available right now, just wait. After 20 minutes I went back to the office but there was nobody.. So I left to take my business elsewhere after waiting 25 minutes in the heat.

I dont usually write reviews, but when I do its because the service was incredibly good, or incredibly, insultingly bad. Chalk this up for the latter category. TERRIBLE customer service, company wide, but at this location specifically. First of all, their phone system is a joke! I called many times and couldnt get through; wasted a good amount of time shifting around, being hung up on, and finally waiting on hold for a good 20 minutes before finally getting the answering service, which was very unhelpful with my issue. Finally just opted to go pick up a hitch at this location, where they said they were available. The blonde lady was very nice, and tried to be helpful although she was newer. They only had one of my part, but they had reserved it out to TWO other people. (Good luck to those two, and may the best man win). Phone service never offered to reserve the part. Then the short dark-haired lady came swooping in. (Im unsure of her name, but shes the one to the right in the picture of three of them above. Well just call her power-trippin). She immediately started getting on my case because I wasnt wearing my mask to her liking. She goes straight to threatening me shell kick me out of the store if I dont comply. Girl thought she was Big Ol Gretch! She never asked if I have a medical issue or anything, which I have. I quite politely complied, but this is the 1st time anyone has been SO RUDE to me about a mask. Screen your employees, U-haul, so that people who deal with customers are up to the job. This particular employee cost your company a $179 sale. Great job, power-trippin! I wouldnt go back if you paid me. Found my hitch elsewhere within the hour. Goooood luck if you want a pleasant customer experience here.

Horrible experience. Rude employees, incorrectly told me where the vehicle was. When I went back in after searching 15 minutes, they told me they realized right after I walked out the door that they told me the wrong area and that “I’d eventually figure it out or come back”. They also gave me a contract saying the vehicle was full. It was at 7/8 of a tank. When I updated it in the link they sent, I used the vehicle for 12 miles then filled it to full as instructed in the contract to avoid a $4/gallon fee. This took 3.5 gallons for the 10’ truck, and put me back at full. When I told them I had to pay for my gas plus whoever used it prior and left it at 7/8, they said I should have just filled it to 7/8 even though my contract said it needed to be full. They refused to work with me in store or over the phone. Awful customer service. To top it off, when I went to leave, they had a truck parked directly behind my car and refused to move it to let me leave just to be a thorn. Horrible experience over a short 2.5 hour period. Would never go here or through U-Haul again.

I have not been able to check on my belongings in my unit since November of 2019. Went to check today and realized that someone broke into my storage unit. Left the lock in pieces in my unit. Looks like an inside job too. So much is missing.! I will be going to News channels and police about this. Three other people saw what was in my storage unit in November and I have pictures. This isnt going to be good for this store.

Went into the store to rent a enclosed trailer to haul items to/from our wedding. Gave them all my info, they provided no confirmation receipt. When I asked for one they said i didnt need one when I came back in.I came back in with my Jeep, while waiting in line a female employee asked if I was driving the jeep. I confirmed yes, and she told me they would not rent me a trailer because I had a soft top. At no point during my previous visit did they mention this. I gave them the year make and model. They never asked about the top.The young man at the desk apologized. My only option was to rent a large truck, after negotiating, I had to leave to go back home to drop off the jeep and find a ride back to the store. Not something I needed to be doing before the wedding. Now I was running late, came back in, went over the paperwork, got the keys and left. On the upside, the truck rode good and was clean.On my back, I looked at the paperwork to check gas and mileage, it was all wrong. They gave me the wrong truck. The truck had fewer miles stated on the paperwork. Highlighted was where I needed to return the gas, it said to return at 1/4 full. My tank was at 7/8.I turned in the keys and informed them of their mistake. The lady said she needed to charge me for the 13 miles I was over (no problem) and asked if I put gas in. I said no, since my paperwork said 1/4. She said she had to charge me, but since I admitteded it, it wouldnt be as much.I am very disappointed. These people need to get their act together. It was a headache I didnt need before our wedding.

Drop off customer.I pulled in, dropped off the rental under the well marked return area, a friendly staff member greeted me, checked the VIN and mileage, and told me I was all set. In and out in under 3 minutes. Id say it was a perfect drop off.

I was at this U Haul location several times this past weekend and made an appointment to have the bracket and wiring on my existing hitch corrected. You have a wonderful group of young people working at this store! I was treated with courtesy and respect each time I walked in the door. Excellent customer service! Worst company ever to deal with! The employees pushed us to the next one, ignore you and wont listen. Employees there would rather play on their phone than listen and help you through their error. We were misquoted when setting up our rental over the phone. When going through to finalize, the error was discovered and when we brought it up, he chuckled, refused what we told him the deal was we were given and said let me try and explain this to you. Obviously, we got upset since now hes treating us like a child. Even the manager, who would rather stock boxes than give her full attention, had an attitude. Meanwhile, the other two employees are making comments under their breath back and forth. Calling customer service wont do you any good either. Only will cut you off, not listen and then call the location to take their side and tell you that a District Manager will call you in a few days.You wont see my business ever!

Totally simple return of my rental truck. Uhaul has really stepped up its game from the last time I used their service. Very happy with my experience. Most affordable moving option. They also referred me to great local movers to help unload. Their shipping supplies cant be beat.

Used this location many times for moves. Never had a bad experience here. Usually has trucks available at fairly short notice. Can be a little tricky getting in and out with the trucks, since its in such a busy location, but no huge issues.

Horrible experience. Reserved online selected store then get an email stating I needed to go to a different location that was way out of the way. I get there 15 min early and there is a huge line with one person working. Finally after 20 minutes a manager comes and starts taking people. I get to the front of the line pay and he says he will be right out to check the trailer. Another half hour goes by and I cant get to the trailer because of trucks parked in front of it, I finally had to go back on to get their attention and he comes out and gets me on my way. Overall time at location 1 hour 10 min. By the time I was able to get to where I was going I had missed out on the item I was trying to buy. Coming back I could not get in the parking lot because trucks parked in the entrance.Needless to say I will not be back, i have wasted money and time because of this stores ineffiecncy

U-Haul, What a joke! Called the Plainfield Street Location looking for a hitch for my Customer... They didnt have one. She located one at their 28th Street location and she set up an appointment to have us pick it up. Called the 28th street store to have it put on a c/c. after being bounced around between the two stores and their Customer service no one has my reservation or the hitch! The Plainfield store and customer service told me what I wanted to hear just to get me off the phone. NEVER WILL CALL THIS PLACE AGAIN!!

The location is ideal. Parking is a bit congested near the front. Customer service overall seems friendly, professional, and will correct mistakes. If offered supplemental insurance, as a general rule of thumb the low cost of the insurance is well worth the risk coverage, unless you have read through your driver’s insurance policy and know all the perils covered for given situations. Make sure to ask staff for check-in vehicle inspection to identify issues with the vehicle that were not previously marked, if not prompted. Depending on the time of day and day of week, lines can get a bit long but still seem to flow.

I wanted a hitch put on my car. I called and was told the product had to be ordered. I was given a date and time to drop my vehicle off the following week, but when I got there that day I was told the hitch person had called in sick. They had called me 45 minutes earlier that day to tell me this news, but I did not get the message as I was on the road already. They rescheduled me for later that same week, but when I called to confirm that 2nd appointment, I found out it had never actually been added to their schedule, and that day was no longer available. Instead, they had me scheduled for a completely different day and time --- but I was never even told about that third date! Yikes, I give up. They do not seem to have the staff or organizational abilities to run the business successfully.

I dont know what the issues have been with other people. I have rented 5x9 trailers on three occasions and a 6x12 once. On each and every occasion I have been met by a helpful and friendly staff. The item I requested has always been ready for me when I got there, the staff hooked it up and checked lights (I know, they do it for their own protection, but still). On one occasion I left my four flat electrical connection at home and got no hassles about having to go back and get the connector. I have gone to U-Haul several times to buy packing materials and have always been offered assistance in getting the items to my truck. I have had nothing but very positive experiences with this location.

DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION! I sat in the waiting room for over 10 minutes with nobody in sight. Then they rushed me through the rental process without letting me walk around the truck. When I got it to my home my wife told me there was front passenger damage. It was a minor scrape and the top blinker was missing. Needless to say I called UHaul and reported it. I had coverage so it didnt really matter, but I wanted to clear the air and let them know it wasnt me. They told me it had already been reported so I thought it was over. Only to find out they filed a claim stating I did the damage. Find some friends with trucks and trailers before you rent from this organization.

Helped someone move, and we got a van for the day that was brand new and fit the bill perfectly. However, we didnt see that it had been recorded as a full tank upon leaving, when in fact it was at 3/4. So at return, had to convince them that something was weird since we had only put 4 miles on it, and 1/4 tank per 4 miles would translate to 16 miles per tank. Someone goofed and it wasnt us; shouldnt be this way but hey sometimes it happens (?).

Nice enough people. Left with truck and dolly. Am now stranded in Ky with a dolly that does not want to hold my car on it. Continues to come off every few miles on the passanger side. Mind you...this is the second dolly I picked up today. They sent a guy out tonight to help put it back on and tightened it up...as we had been doing. He laughed, said he would never use this equipment. Evidentally he never followed up on the call, which according to Bobwith customer service, is not their problem...call back in the morning. Meanwhile we have zero resolution...time and money out the wazoo...wasted. This company is junk and Id NEVER do business with them again. One setback after another with the duct taped equipment.

The truck I rented was filled with less than 1/2 a tank of fuel when I picked it up, I drove it for 26 miles in town, then put $30 worth of fuel in the tank. When I got back, the tank was just under 5/8 of a tank. The cashier told me that the truck was not filled with enough fuel. I told him that it has more in it than when I picket it up, but he declined to listen to my concern and instead charged me extra for not having enough fuel after already paying $30 for fuel. The truck worked fine, but the customer service was nonexistent. I will not be using U-HAUL in the future.

Moving is stressful but so was this Uhaul experience. We were moving to AR. The website quoted us one price for a truck and tow dolly; the office quoted us higher. My husband was disappointed to find that after spending $1000 with the company, they didnt provide any moving blankets or rope for us to use. The guys worked with my husband the best they could, though.

I do realize I was one minute late but to lock the door in my face--not good customer service, we regularly use this location (3-4 times a month) but we will now be changing.

This past weekend I rented a truck. Today I noticed they overcharged me for miles via my credit card statement. My mistake for not waiting for a receipt or taking a picture of the odometer upon returning the truck. I will definitely not be using this location again.Word of advice for any future customer. We arrived a bit before they opened, with only two people in front of us, the service was so slow that we werent seen until 9:20. If that was the worst of it, things wouldve been manageable, however the saleswoman told us that we had to return the vehicle within 4 hours, and when we asked if we had 4 hours from the time they actually gave us the keys (9:20), she looked at us like we were idiots and said Nope. After arguing with us for a few minutes, she then changed her story and claimed that we could have the tuck all day for the same price. She made absolutely no sense and couldnt have been less professional. Needless to say, we wont be returning.

I just returned the trailer that I rented. All went well with the pick up an the trailer worked great. Returning it was another story. I spent 45 minutes waiting in the left turn lane on 28th street to pull in because the driveway was stacked full of returned vehicles with no drivers. After I called a u haul representative. The vehicles finally started to move. I wont be renting from this location again. Waaaaaay under staffed and unorganized.

Terrible. Flew into GR to learn they changed my pickup time to 2 hours earlier (while I was in the air) and had given away the truck because I did not show up at the new time! I explained I was flying at the time and needed a 20 ft. truck that day to move . She said scheduled pick-up times are only a suggestion. Completely incompetent staff. I called to see if they had a Hitch Installation for a 2014 GMC Terrain and they said they needed to order one. They asked me what it was for and I said a bike rack, which I do not yet have. They just added that to the bill without telling me. I had to call back and have it removed.They told me that I would receive a call when the piece came in to schedule an appointment for installation. I waited 5 days and called for a status update, they couldnt see where it was but told me that I would get a call later that night. Didnt get a call so I called back, and I was told I would get a text message about it shortly, no text message. I called the next day, and they said I already had an appointment scheduled at noon, 3 hours later. Also, the price quoted was incorrect than the price of the actual part, and I had to pay more once I arrived to get it installed.Also, the place where I got it installed had them in stock and always do have them in stock because it is their most popular hitch. Braindead employees at the Hitch Super Center.I called to complain about how unorganized they are and how no one seemed to know what was going on and I was told the GM was going to call me. Suprise suprise when 5 days later, still no call. Never going to use U-Haul for any business in the future and will recommend to my friends not to use them. Complete waste of my time.

Made a reservation, online, to rent a storage unit, gave my credit card (thinking I was paying for the first month) and received a confirmation number. Silly me, I assumed that storage units were rented by the month not by the day. When we arrived on the 7th of the month with a truckload of stuff the person helping us, after spending about 10 minutes shuffling papers and looking in the computer, informed us that you had a reservation for the 1st not the 7th Aside from his lack of customer service and blah unprofessional attitude the worst was his name tag said OWNER. He did not even have the decency to apologize after stating someone should have called to see why we did not show up on our reservation date and they no longer had any units, of the size we needed, left. Will never rent anything from this location again!

DO NOT RENT HERE. I rented a 17 truck for 6 hours. It was confirmed in an email that I would have the 17 truck for 6 hours on Saturday. I even gave them my credit card to hold the truck on the Uhaul website. When I got there they told me that I could have the 17 truck for only an hour but they have the smaller truck for 6 hours. I even showed them the email that shows the confirmation that I indeed rent the 17 truck for 6 hours on Saturday. They just said There is no chance we would let you rent a that big of a truck for that long Needless to say we were forced to make multiple trips with the smaller truck spending more money on gas and more mileage.So if you want to rent a 17 truck or larger for more than an hour THEY WONT LET YOU. EVEN IF YOU PAY FOR IT.

Had a hitch installed on a Saturday. They never called to tell me it was done. I had to call them. Monday I was driving it and all sorts of awful noises coming from car. Called uhaul to see if I could get it looked at and they told me manager would call me back. They never did. Stop by the store later in the day and a employee went back to get the manager. She still didnt come out. Just told the employee to tell me there wouldnt be a hitch guy there til Wednesday. Well I cant just drive around with this god awful noise. So I had to take I to a mechanic to get it fixed. Thanks uhaul for an awful experience. Also when I called in to complain with the company, they called the manager and she said she came out and talked to me. Blatant lie.

Very slow customer service. And when I had a problem with my bill for being over charged... The sales person told me dont worry about being over charged because you actually saved money with the free storage... Really? Never again!
