Just moved to the area. Had my wife call and speak with shop. She is from New York. Wanted brake work and A/C fixed. Quoted $1400 for new pads and rotors front and rear. Rear brakes still had over 50% life. Worked on A/C. Still doesnt work. Took to another shop.

Love this shop always do great work and are reasonable on price. Only reason Im giving 4 stars is because they used to work on old cars and exotics but they no longer do. So now I cant take my classic cars here to have work done. Its a shame really I will miss using this shop

Went here and had the best experience. Billy was extremely helpful. I took my Jeep to get a safety inspection at Hoover Jeep dealership and took my Jeep here the next day because I didn’t want to pay dealership prices. Well, auto repair experts found safety issues like an exhaust manifold being cracked (literally 90% cracked-billy showed me). The dealership didn’t catch this. I have a newborn and would hate to be stranded somewhere. Thanks to Auto Repair Expert I can now feel safe.

Will be returning to ARE for any further auto needs. Took our Durango in for an AC problem - turned out to be an electrical problem. Start to finish, diagnostic to repair, (including ordering the necessary part,) was a week. Not only does our AC work now, but were actually getting better gas mileage (than when we first got the car,) too.Billy kept us updated throughout the whole process; friendly and professional and courteous, even when we were waffling.I couldnt recommend ARE more highly.

Exactly what I have been looking for in a mechanic. They walked me through exactly what the issues were with my car. They allowed me to look at the exact spots that were concerning to them when the car was on the lift. We then went through options on how to fix the issues, offering multiple remedies and price options. They were 1/3 of the price of a shop I went to that was ripping me off, clearly. They have a very nicely organized shop and waiting area and Ken was very thoughtful and friendly. My truck had an engine issue that multiple shops tried to troubleshoot, but to no avail and really didnt give me answers. ARE did a test the others didnt, they listened to my input and worked with me. In the end, the ultimate problem was not found, but I was given real word suggestions of next steps and the best course of action to take.Although my truck wasnt fixed (at my choice not to chase a difficult to track issue), it was refreshing to get honest opinions. Plus, I got a nice stuffed hedgehog out of it!

Told me there was nothing wrong with my car almost wrecked driving home

The ac in my truck stopped blowing cold. I brought it in expecting a large bill for a replacement of ac components ie.compressor or seals. They took the time to do a thorough diagnostic and found the problem was just a loose ground connection. I was pleased to find a mechanic who actually trouble shoots and doesnt just guess and change parts. These guys will get all my work in the future. Theyre legit.

I have used them in the past and even though the prices are higher than most repair shops that would get the job completed within a day. This last time was Monday, March 1st and I received the estimate on March 2nd, the amount was very expensive for the parts I supplied for them to install. I will not pay the astronomical rates they were going to charge. I took my car elsewhere and they did the work for a fraction of the cost. Be ready to spend a lot of money if you go here.

They did some diagnostic work and gave an estimate for some suspension work that was a little high for me. But they didnt charge for the preliminary diagnostics and I felt they were honest and understanding. When I have the time and resources I definitely will be going back to get the work done.

Its hard to please every single customer in the business of mechanics. Use your judgment and compare the good reviews vs the bad. I can without a doubt say that this is an excellent mechanic shop! These are very honest people unlike so many other mechanic auto shop these days. My experience with them was very good and will recommend all of my family and friends go there if they are ever in need of mechanical work.

Maxx was awesome! He actually came and picked my car up to take to the shop to get the work done. I was so happy, since I only have the one car. That is a very convenient service! This is a great shop. The asked me how I preferred to communicate and texted me about my car. They even sent me a picture of the problem. They had it fixed quickly and were really friendly.

Made an appointment. Was late and rescheduled. Dropped of my car for a diagnosis. 24 hours later they had done nothing to it and had no contact from them. Picked up the car and they couldnt have cared less. Ridiculous.

Honest fast good pricing

I had my blower motor resistor replaced today and they did an excellent work. They brought me the broken part so I could see what was wrong with it. Eric the VP discussed the price with me before they fixed it to make sure I was good with getting it fixed. Shout out to the whole crew there, y’all are very friendly and even washed my truck while I waited for the parts to come in. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for any and all vehicle maintenance. Its a sad tale of metal shavings and failing bearings in the motor. Kiss of death stuff. But Ken and Max informed me of a recall on my car for that very issue.They were very accommodating in dealing with the logistics involved w getting my vehicle to them and from them to the dealer.I had not used them before but they were were recommended to me by a transmission shop I very much trust.As I say they were friendly and helpful an did not get a dime for their efforts.Good guys.

We were stressed at being stranded and equally stressed about finding someone reputable to work on our car. It was my first time going to ARE at my wifes recommendation. Her father had been going there for years and he always felt a great level of trust with them and told us that they wouldnt push anything on you that didnt need to be fixed That was shown clearly when i was dealing with them. It was made very personal to me in the fact that Max sent me pictures of each thing that was wrong with the car in great detail. This made me feel extremely comfortable when making a decision to proceed with repairs. Ill be coming here exclusively from now on. This is a place where one can simply trust the good people who are working there. Last summer, my Toyota Corolla would not start. Best around town in my opinion. Very helpful. They dont make up work as they go. If everything is fine, they will tell you. If theres an issue they usually rate it on a scale of 1-10, and theyve been very honest. I always take care of any problem as soon as it begins, but its understandable if somebody couldnt afford a fix right away. Ive been there for a timing belt/water pump on my Subaru and they had it finished in a couple days, and the price was very competitive. I did some research, and they were by far the best. I just returned the same car for an inspection on my suspension. wheel bearings, and brakes because I noticed a grease build up on my axel near the interior CV joint. Turns out it was a transmission hose that had a tiny leak. That goes to show how thorough and honest they are. I would highly recommend them, and I wouldnt take my vehicles any where else for the jobs I couldnt do myself. Plus, theyre very friendly, offering water or soda to accommodate their customers.

We recently moved to the area and found ourselves in need of a mechanic when we noticed an issue with the brakes on our Pontiac Grand Am. After looking at some garages online, we took our car into Auto Repair Experts. We were really impressed with their customer service through the whole process. They were extremely friendly. Max sent us pictures of my car as it was being repaired. They did exactly the work I asked for, nothing more, nothing less, and did not pressure us into getting more work done. The price was reasonable, and the work was done quickly. Highly recommended.

Almost 3 years later and I still think about how poor my experience with this shop was. So much so that I had to write a review. Im sure things are different now, for better or for worse. My story begins when I bought a monte carlo. It was leaking grease from the control arm and had to be replaced. I also had a bad sensor in my hub assembly that caused my abs light to come in. I decided to get both replaced. I took it to this shop and they said they would be able to help replace both parts. I forget exactly what they charged me but it was over a thousand dollars which made sense considering I was replacing two parts. But once I got the receipt I was upset. They charger me for labor for removing both the hub assembly and the control arm. This is like getting charged twice for the same thing because to replace the control arm you have to remove the hub assembly entirely. If they were smart they would have just replaced both parts at the same time. Which is what Im guessing they did. I do remember both labor cost were over 100 bucks each. I just felt ripped off. Maybe Im in the wrong, I dont know. I just feel cheated. Anyways, they did a decent job with the repairs. Although my abs light was still in and they said that I should replace the other hub assembly as well even though they were the ones that told me just to replaced the one in the first place. I wasnt about to spend more money. They should have diagnosed my car correctly in the first placed and told me to have both replaced from the start.Edit 1: typos

My wifes 2001 buick had a mechanical issue that more than one Buick dealership could not repair . Max and Ken to the rescue. They found the problem and basically prevented us from having to purchase another vehicle due to extreme smell. Our Buick continues to run well and is always serviced at ARE Repair Experts for major repairs. They also did a great job in installing a backup camera on my 2018 Kia Soul. Would highly recommend Max and Ken .

I was so impressed with the team at this Auto Shop! I brought my car in with an AC problem and Max went above and beyond to make sure I had it done within the day, even though it ended up being a major fix. He even offered and gave me a ride home since I brought the car in myself. The repairs were done thoroughly and quickly and the price was very fair. Im new to the area and have the dreaded task of finding a trustworthy auto repair shop. I brought my Dodge Ram 1500 in with multiple problems. After a reasonable diagnostic fee they helped identify the crucial repairs that needed to be made to get the vehicle safe to drive again. They sent pictures via text of the damage and asked if I wanted to proceed before any further charges were made. If you are on a budget and need an honest auto shop to help work with your budget, these guys will be honest about what needs to be fixed and what can be postponed if you are on a budget. They had my vehicle back to me in three days and it has ran great for a week now. I will use this auto repair shop again.

Absolutely outstanding! The best service garage Ive ever dealt with, and Im over 60. Honest, of course, is always the main necessity, but theyre dependable, reliable, and extremely competent. They give me a full explanation of everything, plenty of time to decide, dont recommend unneeded work, and then charge a reasonable fee for services rendered. If it isnt work they perform, they say so and recommend someone. They make it clear that my business is appreciated and want me to return. Ive been a customer for several years, and wish I had found them sooner.

I took my car in to fix a leak in my Power Steering fluid line. The job was done within the day, with a new part installed, and my car is now back in working condition. They are very trustworthy, they will do the job, and they will do it well. My only issue was that the work cost more than I was hoping and expecting (nearly $500 total) for something I know I could have fixed myself if I had the time. But they told me this beforehand, and there were no unexpected charges.

If I could give these guys more stars I would. They did an amazing job on my engine replacement which was very much not just a normal replacement. It started with me having to tow my 2012 Dodge Ram in with just under 170,000 miles. After some diagnosis and testing we determined that the best action would be a full engine replacement. From the day I gave the green light they had me back on the road in five days.My story doesn’t stop there, after the break-in 500 miles I took it back for an oil change and a check engine light came on. Ken, Max and the team jumped on it and found that somehow coolant had made its way via wiring harness to the computer for the engine and it was soaked. Ken recommended to try and dry it out via an unusual method. With the complete trust I developed for these guys it was a no brainer, let’s go for it. Ken is a genius, the method worked and saved the computer.Not the end of the story yet.... After the computer fix it wouldn’t start. Now this had been an intermittent problem but had only happened maybe 3 times before but this time it just would start. So Ken rolled up his sleeves again and dove in. Before the end of the day he had researched and found a service bulletin that addressed this problem and once again had a fix. Not only did he go above and beyond to find a fix but he stayed 2 and 1/2 hours late on Friday of Labor Day weekend to apply the fix and once again get me back on the road. It was 7:30pm Friday on a holiday weekend and this wonderful man is elbow deep in my truck to get me going.Through this entire process I was communicated with several times a day and I’m certain I wasn’t charged for all the time that was spent.I am definitely a raving fan for these guys and without hesitation recommend them. In fact I hope you have car trouble just so you can see how great they are.Thanks again for all you do A.R.E!!!

They are absolutely amazing. Same day fix, updates the whole time. They now have a new customer for a long time. Only electrical mechanic to not tell me to drop my car off for 3 days.

Took my Nissan in for AC trouble and was told I needed a $1300 compressor job. Paid the money and the next day my underneath shield was dragging the ground because they did not tack it up after working on the car. Took it back and they agreed to replace it although it took them over a week to do so. During this visit I heard negative conversation about myself coming from the shop as they were doing the work. Within two weeks of having the compressor replaced, it was not working again. I took it back and was told they had to see it when it was actually blowing hot air ( it was intermittent) . A couple of days later, while blowing hot air I took it in. They saw it firsthand, and when my bf said he thought they charged for something that wasnt the problem to begin with, they quickly offered a refund, not even attempting to fix their Warrantied work. I later messaged Max, asking where they had gotten the compressor they installed (So I could track down the seller to ask questions) and I got No response. Took the car to a reputable shop who are now replacing the compressor, condenser and fan (which are supposed to be done together due to possible contamination issues) for a lot less than the $1300 I originally paid these people. Since i drive for Uber, it is imperative that my car be up and running at all times, and Auto repair Experts, knowing this, cost me way too much time off work with nothing but negative results. They put up a really good front on initial contact, but didnt stand behind their work at all .

I was in a rough spot, with no way to just drop off my car. They were able to fit me in and address the issue while I was waiting with my nearly 20 month old son, thus I was also grateful for the toys there, though admittedly, a little dirty, nothing a wipe couldnt take care of. I wasnt planning on spending time at a auto repair place when I left the house earlier that morning. I am thankful they took me on short notice! They were professional and the price fair. Thanks.

Wouldnt go anywhere else! Really trustworthy and honest! I have had several repairs done there on my 2000 4Runner and have been pleased with the time it took, cost and the work that was completed. I love that they show me and explain the problem with pictures or actually on my vehicle. They dont try to just repair your car to get money either. I know people who have been told it would be better to sell their car rather than the cost of the repair. I have been so happy with the repairs that I drive the extra distance to the shop for my regular maintenance. Its a very small town kind of shop with very friendly, good people working there.

This place is deceitful and dishonest . First my wife call and says I think I need a water pump. He said that is not always the case sometimes its just a hose or something else. So he text her and says I will do a pressure test on your coolant and flush your radiator you need a thermostat housing ($20) about $550.00 so she says ok. Thinking ok the car will be done and drivable in a day or 2. Cost $435. When he did that, then he says by the way you do need a new water pump and timing belt and your car is misfiring so spark plugs and wires $1500.00. I told him I want someone else to check it.. The other mechanic asked if the car overheated I said yes so he proceeded to do a compression test $60. The new mechanic said the heads were bad $2000.00. I want to know when this crook was going to tell me my heads were bad. after he charged me $435 (coolant housing $20 part plus radiator flush and pressure test)which I paid Plus another$1500.00 So it was going to $1900.00 worth of work and when he was finished ...oh by the way you need your heads done $2000. on a car that is only worth $3500. Then when I went back to let him know he wasnt going to work on my car anymore and when was he going to tell me about the heads he threatened to beat me up if I didnt leave his property

If I could give them less than 0 Stars I would but the only reason why I’m giving them the bare minimum of 1 Star is because of who I believe to be the manager was professional when I spoke to him on the phone. I arrived to the shop, was greeting and offered a drink which I accepted. Maybe 25 minutes later they come to me to show me what the problem was. I explained to them that I have a hole in my transmission coolant lining that is causing my transmission fluid to leak. One of the mechanics tried to tell me that my Transmission Cooler itself has a leak and that it would be $700 to replace. (Since when does your transmission cooler leak?) I then explained to him that there is nothing wrong with my transmission cooler that it is the lining that needs to be replaced so I refuse to get something replace that didn’t need to. He told me that he’s afraid that he is going to break the nipple of the transmission coolant lining and that it’s best to get the entire transmission cooler replace. In my mind if you break it you need to replace it on your cost. I refused to get services from them. OH YES....to top it off another customer (who is not of my skin tone but there’s) comes in with the SAME exact.....and I do mean SAME EXACT problem (with additional things that this customer had to get done) as my car and they told him ohhh it will be around $226. They are money hungry and refused to replace what I told them to do. Not calling them racist but this particular situation is very suspect......I’m just saying. What they did not know is that I have a HUGE social media following that could of easily promoted this company but based on my experiences I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO COME HERE!! They are nothing but money hungry and it is obvious that they need the money because it was no traffic coming through. It is a disgrace what individuals would do to make a dollar and to think that we are walking around here with money to give out. I wouldn’t recommend you to even take your child’s bike here.

I am not very happy with my experience here. They are friendly people and it was nice of them not to charge me for just looking at my car. Although they didnt charge me for that, they told me I would need to pay $580 for something I needed fixed on my car. After calling different places, Everyone else quoted for it to be around $200. I ended up paying $207 to get my car fixed. I feel like they tried to over charge me just because I dont know much about cars and I dont appreciate that.

I took my 2005 Sunfire here after reading a lot of good reviews which I primarily read here on Google. I wanted a place in Goose Creek where I could take my car for service big or small now or in the future. I was very impressed with the service I received at this establishment. Max helped me out and was very patient as he explained everything that was wrong with my vehicle and let me ask all the questions I had. There was a printout with all the parts and labor broken down and Max went over all of them and worked with me to get repairs that were more important and let me know what I could possibly put off for later to bring my price down. I also was able to get my car repaired and available for pick up the next day and that was only because they had to order a tire. Its been about a week and my vehicle is driving great. Max even called me some time after my repair to make sure everything was still. I will definitely take my car back the next time I have trouble and may even start getting my oil changes done here.

Ken is one of the most honest men I have met. He really wants to do the job correctly and make sure it is fixed. If you do not need a repair he will tell you and even refuse to do. His motivation is satisfaction.

Edit: As of today, I have gone from disappointed to thoroughly impressed with this establishment. While the job did not get completed as thoroughly as expected, the company reached out to me and the issue was cleared up. From other reviews I can see that most jobs they do exceed expectations. Thanks for doing great things, and I may visit again in the future if the need arises.

This is the only place I take my vehicle for repairs. They are very reasonably priced. Ive taken my 99 Jeep grand cherokee there a few times the service is quick and very professional. I would deff recommend mend this shop!!

We had a miscommunication error, that left me feeling taken advantage of, initially. The owner has since called me to apolgize and correct the issue. I did not have my car repaired here, but I imagine with all of the great reviews, you couldnt go wrong. As a business owner, I place great importance on customer service. The owner has impressed me with his kind approach. As a woman whos clueless about cars, I was grateful he explained the process/charges that left me confused. Thanks, again.

I love this place! Ive been here twice already, once for an oil leak and the other for a break job. The first time everyone kept telling me it was going to cost well over a thousand dollars to fix my oil leak. I took it here, and they not only found out the problem wasnt what people were saying and took care of my car and all my frantic questions and concerns. The second time my breaks messed up and once again they did a fantastic job!! I will never take any of my vehicles anywhere else!

I was absolutely 100% satisfied with my visit to this shop. Every time I called I was greeted my Max in the most pleasant manner and he always remembered everything that we had previously discussed. I brought my car the first time to get a FREE diagnosis on my car and he immediately told me the issue and even showed me exactly what he was referring to. That quickly established my trust in them as mechanics. Too often women are duped if we lack mechanical knowledge and overpriced. He plainly explained my issue and gave me a quote for the price and labor which was waaay less than Id even expect. The labor wasnt even much at all. They called periodically to check on me and my car while I was getting my financials in order to get my case serviced. Once I dropped my car off they assured me they would take care of her( they referred to my car as the sex and name I had given her when I bought her! Lol). It was fixed extremely quick and they also pointed out that my car remote wasnt malfunctioning and fixed that as well. I honestly feel as though my car is working and running even more smooth than when I first purchased it which was only a year ago. Upon pick up, they gifted me with a small stuffed animal to put in my car that matched her color. I thought that it was the most thoughtful touch that only small businesses seem to possess. Multiple times they have thanked me for allowing them to service my car when I am the one who is truly thankful to them. They are right across the street fro my tow home in Devon pointe and I am so happy I gave them a try. Max even called me today to check to be sure I was still satisfied with their services and that everything was running smoothly. Sorry for the long review but I rarely do this and feel as though this company really deserves it. Amazing customer service and genuine care for consumers is rare to find these days, especially in the auto business but I assure you that you will receive that and more from this team of workers. You guys are amazing!

I had taken my project car in after exhausting efforts to effectively solve the sudden charging issue that caused the car to run the battery down. The King pointed out a few of the problems like a single bolt mount, missing resistor, and later on -a loose belt. Issues were well explained and he didnt seem to mind talking it out. He only offered to do the entire job with added parts or not at all, which really concerned me because I only wanted to fix the immediate issue in this case. Most of the work felt unnecessary. In the end it turned out to solely be a slippage problem and it broke yet again anyway. So I updated to a Gilmer.King is obviously up for doing the work. I think hed go even further if I wanted him to. I know if theres anything that I couldnt dive into, that this guy likely would. Best for me to still fight through the small stuff. The guy has a clean shop, clean people, and they love to promote. They will almost* annoyingly keep you updated with everything thats going on with your repair, but people want that. I wouldnt go somewhere where the people dont like what they do or take care of what they have. Ive been getting the feeling that this is about the best youll find in the area.

These guys customer service and integrity is astoundingly high. If you are not satisfied with something they will bend over backwards to make it right.

I have not yet visited ARE for automotive work, but as soon as I do have a problem, I will be going to them. I will most likely be taking my truck in for a transmission issue soon. Nonetheless, I wanted to make a review here as to why Im taking my vehicles here from now on.About 5 months ago, I made a big mistake when working on my SUV and crossed a vaccum line with a coolant line. Coolant got into my engine and by the time I realized what Id done, I had a low-end knock and a new engine was in order. This SUV is a 1998 and although many might not think its worth it, I wanted to resurrect the vehicle if I could do so without spending an outrageous amount of money.I called about 10 shops to ask around about the cost of installing a remanufactured or a salvaged engine. Most shops quoted me around $2000 to install a salvaged engine, and quoted me upwards of $7,000 for the purchase and installation of a reman. Most shops I spoke with cared little about my situation and just wanted to give me a quote to get me off the phone. The common thread was bring it in and well check it out. Well, thats easier said than done when you have to have it towed.Then I called ARE and spoke with Ken. Whod have thought youd be speaking with the owner when you call a shop? Ken didnt just want to know my specific vehicle issue, but he inquired about the entire situation. I explained how it happened, what I did, and what I thought my options were. Ken explained to me that most reputable shops will not install salvaged engines because they have no idea about the condition of the engine. I explained to Ken up front that I really didnt want to spend the money for a remanufactured engine, and, despite knowing that I would never come in to his shop to give him business for this issue, he took about 10-15 minutes of his time to talk with me about the value of the vehicle on the market, the value of the vehicle to me, what my options were, and what hed do if he were me.I was taken aback that a mechanic, the shop owner, took that much time to put me at ease even when he knew up front that I wasnt going to bring the business to him. He was honest and straightforward with me and never tried to sell me anything or convince me to bring it in to him. When we finished talking, he wished me luck and said if I ever had any issues in the future, to please consider his shop. The whole conversation really put me at ease about a mistake that could have costed me thousands.This is the kind of service, and kind of person, that you just dont find anymore. You cant put a price on honesty and integrity. Ken was extremely genuine and helpful, even though there was no immediate benefit for him. From now on, my vehicles go to ARE.
