This post office was named after John J. Shivnen who was a postmaster for three decades in Garden City, Michigan. The architecture in the building is modern. There are wonderful effects when you walk through it. Viewing it at night is also a pleasant experience. This station has all the automated services and full, polite and professional counter service.

Well after two tracked packages being nearly a week past the expected delivery date... making it at least a 9 day trip from Garden City to Livonia. Update... I must say this postal area is horrible. I had noticed twice that a letter arrived almost a month after postal dating and thought well maybe it got lost in the mail. Unfortunately, after a complaint from my landlord and a court hearing as well as paying a bunch of money to replace as well as resend money order s with tracking. It is without a doubt bad customer service when dealing with this location. I am not use to having these issues so I am alarmed when it comes to my mail. Nevertheless, god bless the workers not doing their job.

3/25/21- Reviews probably dont matter much, since this is a govt. Institution, just venting.Everytime I have a package delivered to my P.O. box, no matter that the tracking says, it was delivered. They never have it ready for pickup on the date of delivery. The same line everytime is we havent sorted the delivered packages from this morning or last night. Doesnt matter if USPS, FedEx or UPS delivered, I get my packages a day late. Sorry place.

This is how your employee delivers mail in Garden City, MI. Sidewalk, steps and porch were cleared of snow. Just plain lazy. Shouldnt that package been left in the mailbox or door. You are the USPS NOT Amazon. This mail carrier should be ashamed as should Garden City, MI USPS

They deliver the mail in rain sleet or snow the man will get through

Every time I send out mail here it goes missing every single time. I’ve had mail even being opened and items stolen here. I have filed several complaints and this place is being investigated at the moment

How does a post office not have a outside drop off box its a joke!!!!

I had important mail email to me saying it will come today. But on certain days like Fridays my mail dont get delivered at all who ever do Somerset St. Inkster Mi.

Horrible wait time. There was only one worker in customer service, & he was very slow. We waited for an entire hour in line!

I’m new to shipping out things for my business. I got a call that my stuff wasn’t packaged properly. I came in and they were rude and unhelpful, didn’t even try to resend it out or explain to me the proper way to ship it. Handed me my package didn’t tell me to have a good day or ANYTHING.

Filed a missing package claim for a purchase made over 2 months ago, received a response from Alana Singleton stating due to co-vid my package is delayed and she closed the case!! No further research into it just closed it. Horrible customer service. Use UPS or fed ex anything but USPS

Carrier is unprofessional and aggressive. I have been made to feel uncomfortable one too many times. WE ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS! We DO NOT work for you! GC USPS get your employees in line and teach them some respect & customer service skills.

Hate gc post office. Always loosing my packages and mail. Never delivers on time. I have informed delivery and I never get the mail it shows online delivered that same day, always a few days to a week later. Some of the workers are extremely rude. I don’t like the girl that delivers our mail. Never closes our mail box and doesn’t deliver our mail complete.

Im 42 and by the time I leave I will be 72. Why cant people have their items boxed up and ready before they get in line so everyone else doesnt have to wait for them to do what we allready all did at home or before we got in line. Also when its almost 90 degrees out and they have no air on in there and u r supposed to wear a mask its just not possible. I live in Garden City and will now drive to the Dearborn Heights post office even though it is out of my way and I could walk to the GC one. They need some staff working there that can move faster then the sloth in zootopia. 🦥

I keep getting either opened mail or damaged packages. Thats if I get any mail at all. Had a couple documents go missing that were important. Something needs to change

This place is aweful now. No more helpful good nice workers anymore. These people here now need to be taught MANNERS.

I love this post office the staff is polite and it’s clean and organized.

I opened a PO Box at this location, the first couple packages I had sent to the wrong address. Totally my mistake, but the staff at this post office went above and beyond to help me. The manager of the post office actually drove to the location where I had accidentally sent my packages, picked them up for me and returned with them in less than 15 minutes. They could have easily told me that it was my mistake and tell me to make sure I use the correct address in the future, but instead they made for my best experience at the post office.

The Garden City Post Office offers your typical post office experience. Its slow and with staff that really dont care how slow it is. Yes they do their jobs. I just wish the were more expeditious about it.

Called and asked if I could pick up a package that was being held (tracking said it arrived at 10:08am, I called at 3pm) until the next day for delivery. The lady I spoke to said that I could.Went in, and the woman at the counter said that no one had checked anything in all day, because they were all up at the counter, so they werent processed. Maybe try informing all of your employees whats actually going on so people dont make 20 minute trips for nothing.This review is basically just a frustrated rant because I have no choice but to use this post office.

I wish I could give youll a zero!! Went here and was charged $2 more than the redford location to mail the same exact package. I will never return to this post office. They rip customers off. Not only that but the workers at the redford location seem much happier about their jobs.. Dont go here unless you want to be over charged and wait a long time to do so!

This post office is very helpful and has answered questions Ive had about shipping on more than one occasion.

I am now on my FOURTH attempt of having my package delivered. An authorized person needed to sign and I had missed the first day, but when i rescheduled the second day I didnt even hear ANYONE at my door in the morning but i recieved a slip saying they tried to deliver. I go up to the office to try to retrieve my packages myself and the woman would not release them to me even though my LEGAL name was on the mail and my license but the addresses didnt match, which shouldnt matter because I brought the slip and my ID. Not to mention she was rude as hell. If this was the case people should not be able to ship separately from their billing address. I ended up signing the slip to schedule ANOTHER re-delivery and this morning i got up extra early to receive my package. Got other mail and not even a slip this time. It took me calling the office AGAIN for them to put out another delivery. This was honestly the most ridiculous experience i have EVER had with mail. Im very disappointed.

The supervisor here is incredibly rude and hostile to customers. I have witnessed her abhorrent behavior many times now the last few years I have had the misfortune to have to do business there. This hatefulness and bullying towards the public by government employees should no longer be acceptable in todays world. Any private business i think would have fired her long ago.

Terrible! I got mail in Iraq in better shape than packages that come from here. Typical of a union company i guess slow lazy an incompetent. But cant ever be terminated.

My package was guaranteed to be delivered yesterday on Thursday by 8 p.m. and today they told me no thats not guaranteed and they have no idea what happened to my package. If you want to ship something dont use USPS.

Its gotten to where they always mess up the mail. I have made many complaints to them yet there is little improvement in service. I use the Dearborn Heights location which is closer and better for when i have to send out mail or packages. I wish i could do that for mail delivery.

Worst mail carrier in history! Mail is never consistent always different times, packages arent delivered on time, mail lost.

The post office at South is nice, do postal carriers that deliver the mail worst Ive ever had.

All I can say is......a post office isnt a fast food joint.....another words: of course they are going to be a little slow......people have no patience anymore...

Dont know how to ship anything!
