Have had a few haircuts here and most have been fine. The ladies give a great haircut and so do the younger guys. Take a pass on the older man who works at the far right station. Talks too much; distracts himself from giving a good haircut.

After going here, I don’t buy that a good haircut needs to be expensive. Chip can cut hair in 15 minutes just as well as someone who takes 45 and he charges a lot less.Highly recommended.

Best value haircut in gainesville. barbers can come off a little curt and sharp, but not really an issue. even comes with a rinse, i see no reason to get my hair cut anywhere else.

He offered to trim my beard at no extra cost, which allowed me to get back on the schedule I needed to. My dad took me here for my 1st hair cut, Just like his dad did for him. I can fully understand why as Courtney, Chip, and the rest of the gang made me feel right at home. I wasnt sure what I wanted at first but they seem to know what would look right on me. My custom haircut got a lot of good reviews the next day at school, ... especially from the girls.

Every time I have been to Athletic Cuts I have been very impressed. Even without an appointment they get you in and out quickly. The staff is friendly and Ive never had a bad haircut from there. You cant beat the price either! Great place to get a mens haircut.

The place in general is alright but if you get “Chip” you’re doomed. Besides the awful haircut he gave me that I had to fix up at another barbershop right after, the guy was very rude, demeaning and made me feel very uncomfortable. He’s psychologically not right in the head and for the whole duration of the haircut I was scared he would do something weird. When I asked for the towel he would hand it to me and then pull it away real fast so I wouldn’t be able to reach it. He then laughed when I couldn’t get it. His laugh and whole demeanor was very disturbing. I left the haircut midway because I just wanted to get the hell out of there. I STRONGLY advise you to make sure you don’t get Chip if you ever go there.

Chip and his staff have always treated me and my family as his own. A great hair cut coupled with and honest older brother advice and a world view like no other. You definitely get more then a good hair cut at Athletic cuts.

I have been going to this shop for years! I get a cut about every 2 months with Chip. One of my sons has Dana cut his hair. Another son has Courtney cut his. Fraudsters!The hair cut was very good and the barber was really detailed. HOWEVER, beware, these people are con artists. I was expecting the cost of the haircut to be $10, and tip $3. However, at the desk, I was told the cost of the haircut was $12, and I tipped $3 anyway. However, on the receipt, it said the cost was only $10 ,so I was lured into tipping $5 instead of $3! Ok, maybe they raised their prices. A couple weeks later, I saw an ad for $10 cuts. I was completely ripped off! I recommend this place for its quality, , but just make sure to say that the price is $10 and if they say the cost is $2, deduct $2 from your tip. The only reason Im giving them 3 stars instead of one is because of the quality of the haircuts was very high and the barber was very personable.

After coming to this facility time and time again, I can say that I will continue to have my hair and beard cut here. I have referred many friends and coworkers to choose to come here for the Great barbers and hair stylists, Dana in particular. Thanks and Ill see you in a couple weeks.

The staffs ability to hold conversation and being courteous to their customers is only surpassed by their ability to cut hair. They are great people. My brothers and I have been going to athletic cuts for the last 14-15 starting in 1999. I recommend everyone go to athletic cuts. The haircut is fairly price and when you look at the walls you see all the great football and basketball players signed memorabilia written personally to the owner, Chip. There is a reason that athletic cuts has been in that location for 36 years.

I went to athletic cuts a week ago with a friend cautious to try another barber in town. Immediately when I walked in the whole staff was very friendly and welcoming. I got a seat with a barber almost immediately. I described what I would like to him and to my surprise he did a better job than I imagined. I was very happy with the entire experience and intend on making it my new barber shop here in Gainesville.

Ive seen quite a few reviews here that are obviously solicited and biased toward the place. While it is not my intention to besmirch anyones reputation, I feel obligated to share my experience and why I wont be returning.Edited from Yelp:I used to get great haircuts from Chip. Hes handy with clippers and the shampoo treatment is nice. Thats about where the positives end. His tendency to bring up politics with his customers is something that Im not strictly opposed to, though this is generally considered poor etiquette. However, I do have to say that much of what he has said in the past has come off as bigoted, particularly toward women, in my opinion. It doesnt seem to pose a problem with others, though, as Ive observed that his usual crowd seems to share his views or least not oppose them. But a while ago, while I was in the chair, he asked me about a Trump-related issue and after I gave him an opinion he clearly did not share, he finished my haircut noticeably quicker than usual. I doubted he was even done, as he didnt even bother combing my hair back and I had to ask to borrow a comb to do it myself. Needless to say, it was a haircut of significantly lower quality than I was used to.I just cant believe that a hair stylist would allow the quality of his work to slip due simply to a political difference of opinion, something that he shouldnt even be bringing up as a matter of courtesy and professionalism. Freedom of speech is all fine, but at the same time a hair stylist should be more conscientious of voicing opinions or starting conversations that can make clients uncomfortable. And even if he does, he absolutely should not let controversy affect his work.Bottom line; if youre conservative or dont mind man talk, let Chip give you a great haircut and stimulating conversation. If you lean left, either keep it under wraps or take your business elsewhere.

DANA IS THE BEST IN TOWN!!I look so fresh, it took less than half an hour for a cut and shampoo, and it was TWELVE dollars! Thats cheaper than Walmart! I will never go anywhere else. Ask for Dana and tell her Walt sent you.

The prices are reasonable, and thats about all you can say. They are pretty talkative in there, and seem more interested in their conversations than helping customers that come in.I would also like to second what Ive read from others here, that the subject of their conversations can be quite off-putting as a customerI wouldnt recommend them if you need a haircut. There are plenty other options around town and near campus.

This shop is great! Not only do you get an awesome haircut for only $10, you get entertainment for free. The conversation and atmosphere is very laid-back and fun. I just started going to the new girl, Clara, and she is awesome. Careful though, she is a Missouri grad and she will banter with you. When I was there last she even got into it with Billy Donovan about this basketball season. Needless to say, you cant just get this service anywhere. Athletic Cuts is the place to go when you need your hair cut!

I dont usually give reviews on online platforms. This is probably the first time. I want to write a review because I truly want to thank the owner of this barbershop. I am new to Gainesville and I dont know anything about barbershops in town. I went to the Great Clips and they messed up my hair. The stylist was rude, disrespectful and impatient and she gave me a shittiest haircut that I have ever had in my life. I was desperate after the haircut since it was already 7 pm and most of the barbershops were closed. As the last resort, I googled barbershop and found this place. Chip took care of everything. He saved my day by fixing the bad haircut that I just got and rinse all the hairs on my neck. He was patient and professional and always asked my opinions. I was so grateful to everything he did to me and wanted to give him an extra few dollars to thank him. He refused and said you have already spent too much on your haircut. All I can say is thank you. I will definitely come back. Great experience!

I get a haircut typically every 6 days from Dana, and she always ensures that I look my best. The extra effort and attention to detail speak volumes of her and the establishment.

For the cost and proximity to campus you cant really beat Campus cuts. I came here because of the reviews and easily saw why people like it. My Barber was Tom and he was very sociable and kind. You could tell he really wanted to be there. One thing he told me that really stood out was (paraphrasing) if someone comes in asking for a haircut and I dont feel confident enough to do it, Ill have another guy come do it because I believe in doing work only if I can do it well. They really care about their clients and it shows. I would recommend them to anyone who wants an inexpensive haircut of good quality.

Athletic Cuts, is an amazing salon. The staff is courteous, friendly and they give wonderful haircuts. Ive meet Coaches Billy Donovan and Steve Spurrier over the years at this shop. I love the owner Chip and his wild and funny joking around with his stylist and customers.

Terrible place to get a haircut. The staff is completely unaware of new haircuts and asks you to explain a certain haircut if they dont know what it is. The staff seems to be more focused on conversation more than the actual haircuts they are giving. The place looks like it hasnt been cleaned for years. I work on Campus and Ive been going to Campus cuts for around 5 years now, ever since I was a grad student at UF. Mario is fantastic. I even felt confident enough to have him cut my hair for my wedding. He definitely is a skilled barber and takes the time to do my haircut right. Hes cut it for me probably about 30-35 times and its been great each time.

Number one place is Gainesville! Staff is super friendly and the haircut is Grade A! One of two places Ive ever gotten my haircut and I wouldnt change a thing! Love the gator memorabilia as well, highly recommend!

This place deserves two stars rather than one because the haircut was good and affordable. However the owner, who cut my hair, made me feel uncomfortable from the moment I sat down. Engaging in conversation (usually a good thing of course), but bringing up controversial issues and expressing his seemingly racist views. When he wasnt talking politics, he still managed to express his chauvinistic (and still racist) opinions. I was happy to get out of that chair and his shop ASAP and will not be returning. This barbershop would potentially be uncomfortable for anyone who is not an older white heterosexual man. I recommend not bringing your business there.
