My son entered the partial care program at High Focus during the pandemic, so the entire program was remote. I wasnt sure how effective such intensive therapy (group, individual, psychiatrist appointments) would be virtually, but High Focus completely changed his life. His clinician, Amanda, was amazing and worked so well with him and our family. He learned so much in the program and we are forever grateful to the compassionate and dedicated staff at High Focus.

If you are a parent or a scared teen, this is the place to go. This is coming from a 18 year old girl who once wondered if her life mattered. Now I wonder if my make up looks nice. The clinicians here genuinely care about the patients here and want to see everyone grow and thrive. Group therapy is not for everyone but it helps teens realize their feelings are in solidarity. The educational groups helped me put a name to behaviors I thought were weird and normal. For example, rumination, willfulness, catastrophizing and acronyms like DEAR MAN, GIVE, and FAST. Getting or searching for help is a big step in the journey of self love and this is a place that helped me stay alive.

High focus is a great program. All of the doctors and therapist are extremely kind and my daughter enjoyed all of the different therapy groups with other teens struggling with similar issues. Highly recommend High focus!

At my time at high focus, the clinician Christine has only called me in my 2 & 1/2 months at high focus 3-4 times that I can recall. To someone who is supposed to monitor me and assigned to me to make sure I’m fine clearly didn’t not follow their job. Christine is not that compassionate. After hospitalization I was only called once after and she was not that concerned proven in her voice. She can be rude by going on her phone often in groups as well as multi-tasking when others speak in group. High focus requires for clinicians to speak with their patients one on one for 30-45 mins a week. Christine made phone calls for 5-10 mins… when she did call me those 3-4 times. I felt abanonded. My time was jeopardized at high focus as well as I was put at an unfair advantage as others received more one on one time. I was unable to get a new clinician because it was too late after I waited forever to get a call for her. I even tried to call her to reach out to show I wanted help and I could not leave a voice mail. She failed to get my texts. One time she called my mom by accident and said she would call me. She never followed through. My calls were spaced out 2-3 weeks apart while others got their weekly calls. I do not recommend her to anyone despite her qualifications. She obviously showed me she doesn’t care. I am speaking out on this issue because if someone does see this and is assigned to work with Christine, make sure you can opt to receive someone better if your feeling she isn’t right for you. I don’t want this to happen to someone else. However many other people were excellent as I got a lot out of group and was able to speak to other clinicians when Christine left for personal matters in my last 4 weeks and never even cared to contact me in that time which was very rude and unprofessional showing she was not passionate at her job.

Transforms your 12 year old children into trashmouth druglords. But by all means send them here. This place is glorified.

An amazing program! Helped my teenage daughter get through a very difficult time. The staff was very supportive and helpful throughout this process. Her clinician, Barbara was excellent! She went above and beyond to support us and truly cared about my daughters well being. I highly recommend this program!

I’ll be honest I’m completely surprised by some of these negative reviews. I had the PLEASURE of going through high focus twice over the course of a 6 month period. The staff is incredible from top to bottom. From Dana (intake counselor) being such a sweetheart from the start to the unbelievable staff. Each staff member is fantastic in their own special way. Christine- you are unbelievable and pushed me to the limit on many occasions and I really thank you for that. You aren’t afraid to challenge someone’s thoughts and truly want what’s best for the patient. Lisa- Your sense of humor always made me smile and made me feel very comfortable. Marlena- I appreciate everything you have done for me as a clinician, you weren’t afraid to challenge me and were always a phone call away. To the other staff members who guided me I truly thank you. High focus is a very special group and if you’re someone whose battling with mental health I highly suggest you give this a try. It truly is one big family that looks out for each other. I highly recommend the freehold staff at higher focus. My experience with them has been only great! My clinician Jo knew how to not only run the group but also connect with me and everyone on a personal level. Ed, was the same way! Everyone of the staff truly cares about the individual. groups have introduced me to new sober friends and have guided my recovery in ways that I can use for the future!I know I can always call any of the staff and they will not only answer, but be there to help me...Takes a certain kind of people to be effective counselor..I found them at freehold higher focus... Thank you for saving my life.

I give 5 stars. I know everyone’s experience, journey and addiction is different and therefore their review of this establishment may vary. My problem my entire life has always been alcohol,....always knew it but never chose to address the problem. Coming here for that issue in October 2018 was the best decision I ever made. The staff here is fantastic, my counselor was one of the best men I have ever met in my life. Genuine and caring. I could go on and on but to whoever reads this I want you to know that you are in good hands at this establishment. I attended the outpatient group 3 days a week for addiction. You get out of the program what you put into the program ... do not expect to go there and get a cure you will not find it! They give you all the tools, guidance, recommendations and experience. You have to put it in place, if you don’t you won’t make it. There is no cure for addiction, you have to be willing to make the change and they will assist you. Good people here.

I couldnt ask for a better facility for my treatment. The staff at High Focus care very much about their patients and will always have their best interest when it comes to a treatment plan. I would highly recommend High Focus to anyone in need of mental health assistance. Thank You High Focus for getting my life back on track!!!

In the time my daughter was a High Focus, I have noticed an amazing improvement in her cognizance and awareness of her mental health challenges. Under the supervision of Jenna Welsch, who is by far the best mental health professional our family has ever had and we also have a son with special needs so we have a lot of experience, the specific strategies that are taught have provided my daughter with a tool box full of ways to cope with various challenges as they come up and have given her momentum for her to build on as she moves forward in her life after High Focus. The program is amazing and I am optimistic we will look back and this experience as a major turning point in my daughters life for the better. Thank you!

This place is amazing at first I was not sure but they make you feel special. They take you in as a family. I mean amazing people they helped me so much I went from crying everyday. To talking to my parents and enjoying life. It was a honor to be there. I tried my hardest to help myself but they had a big impact. They are so nice and it takes a lot for them to get mad. I honestly think all these other reviews are from people who did not try. If you help your self and you let high focus help to you will get help. They know what’s best they are pros. So I highly recommend it and if anybody from high focus see’s it’s mikey and I just wanted to say thank you. You have helped me so much. That you most of all to Jenna!

Coming to this facility was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I was nervous to attend a mental health facility, but my doctor recommended this as I wasnt sure were else to turn at the darkest time in my life. The clinicians made me feel comfortable and created a judgment-free environment where we can learn coping skills, have group discussions, and individual sessions with our clinicians. The doctor helps regulate medication throughout based on your input and clinicians observations. In a few months, I went from feeling hopeless to have a newfound appreciation for myself and life; that is up to the individual to achieve, however High Focus clinicians truly want to help and are incredibly skilled in how to help various individuals needs. I learned so much about achieving a new perspective on life, myself, and how to understand and cope with my emotions, something I have been trying to do my entire life. I worked most closely with Jackie, Andy, and Mike, and I couldnt praise their efforts and skills highly enough. If you are in doubt, please give High Focus a chance and trust the process, it is amazing what you can achieve, and they are incredible people to help you in that process.

Unbelievably excellent. We took our 17 year old child there earlier this year and they were there for 9 weeks.The staff was professional and addressed all concerns. The group therapy was also beneficial; our child noted that some kids just didnt seem to *want* improve. Those who were serious about regaining mental stability/breaking drug addictions did far better.Full disclosure - prior to sending our kid to High Focus Freehold, we were surprised by the negative reviews but decided to go forward anyway. So glad we did - it made a fantastic difference in both our kid and our family interactions in general.

Saved my life. The counsleors are some of the most hard working caring people at the freehold location. It’s been about 2 years or more since i went there and they gave me the coping skills to live a healthier life. If you actually want to help yourself, this place will give you every tool and support you need to do that! I would not recommend this facility. The counselor my son worked with was not professional, mature, and lacked the proper skills to work with teens with substance abuse issues. My son was kicked out of the program because he had two dirty urine test results. He was only at the program for three weeks. They told my husband and I at the last minute that our son not allowed back to program. We choose this facility to help our son who is in clear denial with his addiction, and he gets kicked out. Admitting to being addicted to illegal substances, takes some teens a long time to acknowledge that. My husband and I were misinformed at the initial assessment.

High Focus has saved my life I have been there twice and have learned a lot about myself. The second time i was here I learned that I had to forget all the sober time I had in the past and start over as a beginner. Ed is fantastic, Caring, loving and tough. He makes you feel like family and he really understands what we have been going through. Jo was also fantastic this time around, unfortunately she wasnt there last time I was. I am going to continue as an outpatient on Tuesdays with Ed. It will keep me in a tight group and keep me accountable, Also as Ed and Jo stressed at all times I will continue with AA and my network. I HIGHLY recommend this facility.

Easily one of the greatest things I ever did for myself was to come to High Focus! The program and more importantly the staff helped me get my life back in order. I highly recommend and Im also eternally grateful

The therapists are very untrust worthy. If you tell them one thing they exaggerate what you said so they can send you to a mental hospital. If you refuse to go the therapists team up against you to argue with you no matter how your feeling and will call the police. Whether you go or not do not trust the therapists with your true feelings. I highly recommend you find a different place trust me.

This place only takes your money and doesn’t care at all about the patients recovery. Do not waste your time! Genpsych is much more professional and caring.

Its been a month since ive been out of this prison and i still cant stop thinking about how much its screwed me and my life up. Send your kids here if you want to traumatize them and make them feel like worthless mental patients. i cant believe a place like this is legally allowed to exist, its so emotionally damaging. the staff are unprofessional and patronize their patients. people are put through months of hell and torture in this place for trivial offenses like smoking weed. i was put there for depression and got immediately moved to a drug counseling group to deal with my marijuana addiction sorry what???? i wouldnt wish this place on my worst enemy. my hopes for the future is that high focus is found out to be as corrupt and torturous as it really is and that it gets shut down one day and all the slaves inside it are freed. the mhas are really just janitors and bus drivers, try to talk to them about your problems good luck. while this is supposed to be a safe space, it is the most threatened i have ever felt anywhere in my entire life. it is going to take a long time to rebuild myself from this traumatic experience. do not send your children here.

This place is a garbage establishment, it’s dirty and the staff is a bunch of stuck up a**holes. There are a few clinicians and MHA’s who are actually nice and helpful the rest just do their job to get paid and benefit themselves. This place is a waste of THOUSANDS of dollars. Their policies are unprofessional just like the staff. Whether you’re adolescent or an adult DO NOT go here. P.S. it’s not a “3 strike system” it’s a corrupt system, plenty of teens fail multiple drug tests and continue to stay while I personally failed 2 and they “discharged” me otherwise they were going to send me to residential. Absolute terrible place, I do not recommend.

Incompetent and unprofessional dual- diagnosed program. An ex who went their (being paid under my insurance) first put in him an out of network OP then said it was up to a druggie and insane individual with severe mental health problems to have checked the insurance coverage. Luckily the facility waved the fee due to my persistent phone calls. Then I was called an enabler by one of the inept, narcisstic thirty something male coaches there when I complained when he refused to have the psychiatrist (never heard of this and poor MH treatments) issue him mental health meds. This put me in danger of his psychotic and abusive episodes. Too many young and incompetent individuals also running the states intensive case management program out of there also which also did nothing for him. I did all of their jobs, including trying to find housing for this abusive individual to get him out of my life. They all just sit back taking my insurance money and tax payer money while doing nothing enabling him to go crazy out of control to the point i had to get an RO. This level of non-service would never be seen in NYC. Three years later now that I got my strength back, I feel just as abused by this faciltys inaction and ignorance as I did by this individual. Shame on them. I hope you lose your contract with the state and federal/state funding. Place of total incompetency. Do not send any family members there or yourself. You deserve better.

Have been dealing with director who has not back up anything she has said. Do not go here because your sobriety will be tested.

I was in adolescent IOP for about 8 weeks from february-march. I could not give higher reviews to High Focus. Prior to my assessment, I read online reviews and was so terrified, as people depicted it as hell, jail, and a psych ward. However, throughout my first week I was amazed with the staff. My clincian, Mary, is one of the sweetest, most personable, and incredible people I have worked with regarding my mental health. My psychiatrist switched my antidepressant in a very gentle way so I did not experience withdrawl from being on a high dosage when I entered. The different sessions and programs they have put in place are so well rounded, but my favorite would be med ed with our nurse Delora. Not only is she so incredibly kind and funny, but it gave everyone an opportunity to ask about their individual medications, discuss current or potential side effects, or how to discuss with the psychiatrist what they want out of their medication. They do an incredible job there making sure everyone is safe and has resources available to them. My high focus binder is still a great resource for me, as I can always flip through it to remind myself how to work on self care, gratitude, and coping all around.The worst part about High Focus has nothing to do with the staff- its the kids that are forced to be there, whether it be mandated by their school, parents, or court. Those kids have no motivation to get better, and project that attitude. The most important thing to keep in mind at High Focus is to be honest with the adults, and to try and keep an open mind about treatment.

My therapist sent me here thinking they had group mindfulness workshops. After I described my 2.5 hour assessment experience, my therapist told me that shed never recommend this place to anyone again and apologized to me for what happened. From my experience, all I can say is, dont go here unless you need an intervention.

Beware of this place. High focus is not targeted for all mental illnesses. The way they handled my treatment was absolutely unfair. I suffered extreme health anxiety and spoke with the doctor at HF (Dr. Vyas) about how I cannot accept my negative test results, she looked me and says “So you WANT to be sick?”.She was nasty and not understanding whatsoever. So inappropriate. They had no idea had to address ocd. She wanted to force meds on me so badly and I kept denying and she got so mad at me she said she couldn’t help me anymore. They treated everyone like prisoners and read off of printed papers you could find online. It wasn’t helpful in my experience (suffer from ocd and anxiety) and it actually made it worse. I dreaded going here and felt like no one understood what I was dealing with. I even got dress coded... I attended the program in the summer. This place may be good for some, but do not go here if your issues are ocd/anxiety related.

Currently attending for Mental Health. Highly recommend for both Mental health and Substance abuse. Havent felt this good in years. Learning how to deal with my anxiety and depression symptoms at High Focus has been a life saver.

Dr.Vyas is profoundly incompetent. Put me on a medication that gave me parkinsonism, and when I told her about it she ignored me.

Your mhas Dana and Laura from freehold hfc are extremely clique-like and judgmental and they break confidentiality. vicki capasso used to go there and her boyfriend Brian Grasso now goes there, the mhas told him she was untrustworthy and bad news when she no longer went there. brought her self esteem ten times lower than it already was, remind you that was one of the issues she went there for. thanks :)

Worst place - charged us for an intro session where an extremely unprofessional woman made my family member feel awful... and wasted his time for 3 hours. Do not go here.
