The store used to have ONE knowledgeable and friendly employee, Tommy. The new owner clearly isn’t equipped to run a pool store with his level of education regarding pools and their maintenance. We will find a store that can provide knowledgeable assistance. If anyone knows where Tommy is working, chime in. He’s been such a help, and we have/will miss him greatly!!

Excellent, high quality service. The in home Pool Service was a great choice. Rich is awesome. Professional service, he makes sure my pool chemicals are all balanced and pool look fantastic !Everyone at this Fort Lauderdale location is professional and friendly and extremely helpful !Very happy with Pinch A Penny. They replaced a pool pump almost a year ago and it’s still working great. The repair guy was friendly and professional!I am definitely sticking with Punch a Penny ! Just like the recent reviews, one star ratings. The staff is clueless and the owner took 5 days to finally get back to me only to tell me that he is too far to serve my pool....five days! That is after I told him that my pool was already green and needed service asap. Stay away from these clowns!

I gave this one star because I had to...not because that store employee deserved even that one star. We are new to the area and new to pools. The first experience we had with a Pinch a Penny was great.. the owner in Hollywood was very helpful. We happened to be out and about so we went to the store on Federal Hwy in Ft Lauderdale and our experience couldnt have been more different. We took a sample of our pool water in because we had an overnight algae bloom and didnt know what to do about it. The store had one other customer so they were not busy. Tommy was the employee who wed like to say helped us, but he was curt, rude and not helpful at all. We asked him to explain some of the questions he was asking about the sample and he actually told us the questionnaire was not a fill in the blank, we had to choose an answer. We did buy a bag of salt there because theyd done the water test for us, but our inclination was not to. We wont be back, nor would we ever recommend that store. We went to our local Leslies and will stick to going there from now on. UPDATE to this review. I just got off the phone with the owner of this store. He was very concerned with my issues and apologized for the service. I appreciate very much his validating my concerns.

John has the most AMAZING customer service, it is a pleasure going there and dealing with him. He is beyond knowledgeable and makes the pool process so simple. In the beginning I had no clue what I was doing and with his help I am now a pro. He has a lot of patience and knows what to do. He is the reason I keep going back to pinch a penny, especially this store. Great job John!!!!!!!!

The folks that work here are the most helpful anywhere. The owner and other staff at this location where so incredibly knowledgeable and not aggressive with trying to sell you items you dont need like some of their competitors. The staff actually talked me out of buying something I thought I needed but after I explained what was going on he refereed to a single piece costing 60% less....BRAVO

Great service testing pool water free. Get a printout with directions to resolve issues you may have...list of products needed. Easy to purchase whats needed and follow directions. Location is in a plaza thats easy to get in and out rather quickly. Helpful staff.

John was great at helping me. I was surprised on how amazing the customer service was, I highly recommend this store. They will take great care of your pool needs.

The store doesn’t have a clear return policy. How am I supposed to know that an unopened or unused Item is nonrefundable? The policy was never stated to me by the sales person or clearly written in the back of the receipt. I Just wasted $18 dollars, hope this review helps someone else.

Excellent customer service. I went in on a Sunday with an emergency issue and the guys there went out of their way to help me find the right parts for an air release valve and a pressure gauge. Not only that but they also showed me how to install the parts. It’s rare that I find such professionalism these days. It was very refreshing. 5 star service, A+++. I will only shop here for pool supplies from now on even though it’s out of my way. Very impressed with the two pros that helped me.

Clean, organized & plenty of parking. They are a chain but each one is independently owned & operated. I got very helpful advice & bought the item I was seeking at a very fair price. Since I havent used the cleaning & maintenance services they offer I couldnt give it 5 stars. (But hope to do so soon).

The employee with the ponytail doesnt understand how and why he is wearing a mask .exposing the nose is like not wearing a mask at all, he didnt understand that he could be exhaling the virus thru his nose and as close as you have to get at the check out counter I question if I will go back I spend between 200$-300$ a year on chemicals from you and have been doing so for the past 3 years if I do go back and see him or another not practicing cdc guidelines I will never return

Very happy with Pinch a Penny. The Fort Lauderdale store was very helpful. Pat was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was awesome with my children.He definitely helped get my pool water back on track after Leslie’s was clueless.Will continue to shop at pinch a penny!Great ft Lauderdale store!

I bought a test kit and never used it since it was the incorrect one for a commercial pool. They would not allow me to return the kit a week later saying there was no seal on the droplet containers, but they sell it with out the seal. Never go back to this place again.Too late now, the manager on duty that day twice told me I can not return the item. I threw it away since I was so mad.

Great service and friendly employees

While we normally do business with the Pinch A Penny store in Lighthouse Point, which has a staff of VERY helpful people who have assisted us with property pools and various questions, we found ourselves needing some Chlorine for a Ft. Lauderdale property and figured this location would be equally helpful and serve our need. We drove there today, (Sunday.) but phoned before to ask the price of Chlorine. Sandy had to place me on a brief hold to ask because she said she doesnt normally work there. The answer she gave us was $4.84 or so not including tax for 2 and a 1/2 gallons. When we arrived, there were three people ahead of me so I waited patiently. I noticed another woman who came into the store and was staying near the front entry. When one of the three customers was taken care of, an associate with short hair and glasses left the back counter and went to the front. Unsure of what he was doing, I continued waiting on Sandy to finish taking care of the others in the back. I then turned to see if the associate in the front was returning, I observed that he was ringing up the woman in the front. OK? When he was done, I went up to him and informed him I had been waiting before the woman walked in. He did not apologize for being ignorant. I told him I just needed the 2 1/2 gallons of Chlorine and he asked about if I had a container. I informed he I did not and he said it would be $7.00 plus for one of theirs plus the cost of the chlorine. We have purchased 1 gallon containers at the Lighthouse Point store and have never been told to bring containers OR be sold one for $7 something dollars. When I told the associate about this, the only thing he said was he never heard about Pinch A Penny doing that. Well, Ive never seen a million dollars but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. So, I bought their ridiculously priced container and also their chlorine but I will tell you we wont be returning to do business with this location again. Id rather drive to our regular Lighthouse Point Pinch A Penny store OR pay Home Depot $3.84 per gallon of chlorine then set foot in this store again. Management, take note: train your associates who answer the phone to provide ALL of the information being asked and better train your associates to keep an eye on customers who walk in and out to know order in which to serve. Also, when you have a few customers waiting, teach associates to acknowledge them and let them know theyll be able to help them as soon as possible. Its not nuclear physics youre teaching them: its called good customer service.

They say they offer pool service online, but when I called and asked, they said they couldnt get someone out to me for over a week and instead offered cleaning products. Ive heard good things about their stores goods, but they are ibviously not ready to offer services.

DANGER: Please beware. Steven and John were great when this store opened. But this evil new young man Itay not only acted like a baby because I had a question he didnt like but he altered my pool volume gallons so my test reports read dangerously high levels of chemicals to add. A less experienced pool person might have added ONE GALLON OF ACID to the pool as my report reads for a ph of 7.8. On 4/10/2019. This is highly unacceptable and someone will be injured using these totally outrageous vendettas for really no reason other than calling this spoiled brat out.

I have been to Leslies and a couple other pool stores in the area in the past 6 months or so and none of them have had such great customer service. Itay is super friendly and approachable and is extremely knowledgable! He was able to clean up my green pool in no time which was perfect because 4th of July was just around the corner! The fort Lauderdale location will definitely be where I shop!

After walking out of Leslies down the street after waiting for 20 mins to checkout, I found what I needed here for much less. My pool filter was $10 less and pool lightbulb was $6 less. I have found a new pool store.
