I had to come in for an emergency on a Sunday after my 11 year old mountain dog formed an infection from a previous surgery at my local vet. Dr. Wassaf is wonderful and made my fear ease with his attention to detail and my dogs age. Surgery has since healed and I can not express my appreciation and giving my dog comfort back :) thank you.Everyone is the office has been beyond kid and helpful and I especially appreciate Lindsay and Krissy! Both have helped me through my concerns, explained everything to me and making me feel better! On top of the great service I appreciate the refreshments! It’s great having a clinic in town that is available to take on new clients in an emergency! You guys work so hard and I truly appreciate you!

I took my cat (Trout) in late monday night. The staff was wonderful. Dr. Toni Barnes explained his lab & x-ray in detail. His cost of treatment was high, but they gave us a break to fit into my loan on spot which helped a great deal. Thank you so much to Dr. Barnes and her staff! I highly recommend and 100% confident in the treatment Trout got. Thank you again. Trout is feeling better!

Edit to original review: I called the vets office and spoke with Lindsey, who was very patient and kind. After a bit of back and forth, and her checking with the vet if he felt what I reviewed here was accurate, they agreed to issue us a refund for the 82$ bandage and a partial courtesy refund. After this was said and done we ended up spending a total of 261$ for the procedure (that unfortunately still didn’t provide any results).I do appreciate that they issued any refund at all, but If I had a time machine, I would not have the procedure done again knowing the bandage wouldn’t stay on and support a good prognosis of the procedure. It’s never fun to have your dog suffer and spend 261$ if you’re going to end right back where you started.I am bumping it from one star to two stars because Lindsey was helpful and I appreciate the partial refund. (This will allow us to put the 187$ they refunded toward the next vet visit to get her ear fixed again.)Original review:We brought our dog in for an ear flap hematoma. We waited approximately 6 hours to be seen. When it was finally her turn, We asked the vet multiple times to do a shunt in order to avoid the ear filling back up. The vet said he would do the aspiration and a “special bandage” that would hold pressure for “a minimum of 7 days” and this should help it not fill back up. We were told to have a vet take it off in 7 days. We were grateful to have her “fixed”. We paid 82$ for this special bandage, and close to 500$ for the visit. We drove 1.5 hours after the procedure, during which our dog was very knocked out/asleep because of the medicine they gave her. However when we got to our remote camp location, and opened the back of the car, her bandage was completely off, around her neck. She did not shake or itch this whole drive, only slept (and she had a cone on).I called the vet immediately and they told us to go get “gauze from Walgreens and wrap it tightly”. If this was sufficient, and it’s not, why would they stress how important their “special bandage” was in the success of the procedure? Two days later, we have had to re-wrap it 4 times, and her ear is filled back up with blood. The procedure was for nothing; her suffering, and our money was, for nothing. Well be taking her to yet another vet in a day when we reach our destination. What a waste of time, suffering on her part, and money.Absolutely the worst veterinarian experience we’ve ever had.Pictured: is trying to re-wrap her ear, in the middle of no where camping.

Had a good experience here the another night when my dog was experiencing a very swollen eye. Both the technician and the doctor who helped us were very helpful and attentive, gave my dog lots of love and attention and explained everything to me. The doctor was thorough and the eyedrops she prescribed worked great. Cant really comment on the price as I havent been to other vets in this area but it seemed reasonable for urgent care. In and out in about 1.5hrs on a weeknight.

I called in to make sure they were open; they said come on down. I pulled up and called per their instructions. They said I was next in line and that it would be 45 minutes until they could see me.I waited outside, in my truck, for an hour. I called in and they informed me that there were now TWO more people in front of me and it would be about 1.5-2 more hours wait. These were people that walked into the clinic while I was waiting outside.HORRIBLE service!!!

I needed to take my dog to the vet on a Friday, my vet was closed and recommended I go here. The staff and Vet were amazing, they answered all of my questions and made me feel confident that my baby was in good hands. Obviously the price for emergency services is more but they explained every charge and how necessary it was. They also got me in right away so I didn’t have to spend hours worrying about my dog needing care.

This review is mainly for Chrissy and J who were working the front desk the night of 7/22/21 Fist off when you charge what you do, you need to give the best customer service. If your best is to be snappy and rude, you are in the wrong profession and you should not be allowed to answer the phone, much less work with other peoples pets. I received a voicemail from doctor Barnes with test results for my pet that I brought in yesterday morning. Thankfully all was good and I have already scheduled a follow up with our regular vet.Dr. Barnes also said in her message please call us if you have any questions. Based on my interaction with Chrissy( please call us if you have any questions) is just being polite. Chrissy took it upon herself to speak for doctor Barnes. I asked if she knows if my pet was tested for Leptospirosis, in less then a second she says NO. Ok well why not? Again in less then a second Chrissy replies with The doctor didnt feel it was necessary. Chrissy knows this even without looking at my pets records, who I am or consulting with the doctor. The following day after leaving this review I did receive a call from the office manager Lyndsey. She assured me that is not how they generally treat their customers, and asked if I would like to have the Leptospirosis test done for my pet.I also received a call from Dr. Ayman Wasseff, he went over the X ray results with me in detail.Having three dogs Im sure we will be needing emergency services at some point again. based on my experience, I will think twice before bringing them back to this clinic. When dealing with the public its always best to be proactive rather the reactive.

I almost teared up, impressed, when they let us know that we could bother them as many times as we want to check the latest status of our dog.Our poor dog was attacked by another dog on Thanksgiving night, three hours away. He was crying for pain, and we were driving like mad albeit our state of shock. The staff were waiting for our arrival at night that made us incredibly relieved. They are a wonderful and professional team. The clinic is clean and decorated with a warm touch, too. We did not have a great experience at this vet. Now, I understand that there was nothing great about what happened, however I would expect a little more form a vets office that deals with these things everyday. Our cat passed away very suddenly. We drove over an hour to transfer him to this facility to have him cremated. When we got there we were still in shock as to what could have happened and had some questions. The lady who helped us was kind, but only gave very generic answers. Maybe it’s too much to ask that the Vet enter the room and talk to us for a few minutes.. this did not happen. We were told it would take a week to get him back from the crematory, maybe 2 weeks tops. We explained we are not from this area so if there was any way to get him back in a week we would appreciate it.. a week came around and he was not available to be picked up so we had to wait another week. When we called this time he was still not available for pick up. After extending our trip to stay the extra week and finding out he was still not available we were pretty upset. They gave us the information for the crematory and come to find out they offer a rush service and we could’ve had him back with us after a couple of days. It would have been nice to been given this option. The crematory was unaware of our situation of us leaving town and they waited over an hour passed closing on a Friday for us to make the drive to pick up our boy..which we greatly appreciated.I feel the vets office could have made a better effort on communicating with us and the crematory. There’s no way to make this a great experience when losing a pet, a member of our family .. but it could have been made less stressful and a smoother process to say the least. I just think they may want to reevaluate their process to prevent other families from going through this. One nice thing is they did send a card in the mail with condolences from the staff, this was very touching and much appreciated.

This was the worst place I have taken my kitten. On 11/13/20 at 3:00am my kitten who was 9 months old couldn’t breathe. He began crying to me and wanted me to help him so I did what anyone would do for their pets and I called him this place to rescue him. They first charged me a call in fee which was $400. Then we rushed him in and when me and my roommate rushed him in we waited and they told us that there was nothing really wrong with him and he was breathing just fine. They wanted to charge us $800 to do further testing and I told them we’re Nau students so we don’t have that kind of money so they offered us $750 which we still didn’t have enough. So they offered us antibiotics because they told us it’s most likely a upper respiratory which was $160. We decided to take that and they said for the other test it would’ve taken a week to come in, but unfortunately 3 days later my cat worse and worse and began having seizures and he passed away on 11/15/20 at 6pm. If you love your animal and you truly care for them, do not take him here. Me and my roommate and my family strongly believe that they knew he was suffering and they knew he was not going to make it. When we called to explain the news with them they showed the most attitude and no compassion for him and tried blaming me and my roommate for him. These people are truly awful and only care about their paychecks, not your animal.

I took my cat here on a Sunday because I was concerned about pssible pathos plant poisoning. He had been playing with the plant and then suddenly was not showing much interest in eating so I was extremely worried and concerned. I arrived at 10:00 on a Sunday morning because I was told there was one person ahead of me. I still waited a solid 2 hours before they took him back to see the doctor and then another hour after that before somebody came and spoke with me. I was told that it was going to be almost $1000 of tests, blood work and x-rays before they could even diagnose him. I am old enough to remember when doctors were once able to actually diagnose an animal without all that. Whatever happened to, lets try this (insert not insanely expensive remedy) first and see if it helps? Thats a LOT of money for anybody, I still cant believe that amount of money that needs to be dropped just to walk in the door of a vet these days, nobody has that. And its expected to be paid up front before anything is done. I have a care credit card, but like a lot of people these days dont even have money for food already... One would think that some tests could be ruled out based on the owners description of events and behavior (like is a four panel x ray series to check for urinary blockage really necessary when the cat has been going just fine?) They did the tests and I was told they would call in a couple hours. Of course I was beyond anxious ALL day. I called and them and found out the blood work had come back with nothing, they were still waiting for the x rays. I waited almost another hour and decided to just go back there. I was told that the x rays had just come back and they were just about to call me. Another 30 minutes for the doctor to come to the room and explain the x ray. There was nothing in the x ray. They determined my cat was a little dehydrated and nauseous. They gave him a hydration shot and some seriously expensive nausea medication. It was 5:30. It literally took ALL DAY. I felt that was very unprofessional on their part. The lack of timely updates....they were not that busy, there was no crowd of cars in the parking lot. My cat had sat there ALL day apparently just a little dehydrated. If it was a dire poisoning situation, my cat probably would have died. I really think they possibly could have tried these remedies from the get go before charging me $1000 for tests that showed nothing. $1300. We got him home and he ate, cause apparently he was hungry from being there ALL DAY long. Im very disappointed in this place...

He was too sick and we had to let him go which was devastating and came as a shock. The staff at the clinic was so understanding, patient, compassionate and caring. They gave us the time we needed to say goodbye and the attending physician was gentle and walked us through each step of the process, never advancing without knowing we were completely ready. I had to euthanize a dog before and it was very traumatic. This experience was the opposite and I am so grateful to have found this clinic. This is the best veterinarian we have been to. On our trip to Arizona. Our dog got sick when we were close to Flagstaff and initially, we went to Canyon Pet Hospital to check out dog out. After waiting 5 hours, the staff was very rude and the doctor sent us home with some tablets. My poor dog continued to get sicker and declined. When I took him back to Canyon, then ran $3000 tests and kept out dog for 5 days. $6000 dollars later, Canyon vet could not figure out whats wrong with our dog. Then we went to Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center of Northern Arizona for a second opinion. They were more than amazing. The staff is very kind and understood we are worried about our sick dog. The doctor diagnosed our pet in the same visit with minimal lab testing. We kept our dog there for one day and then the doctor referred us to a specialist who confirmed his diagnosis and recommended the best treatments. The staff at Canyon almost killed our dog. Please if you are worried about you pet, do not go to Canyon, you will be wasting your money and your animals health. Beyond grateful for Dr. Wassef and his team for saving my sweet Yota!! He’s been suffering for months and was misdiagnosed by his vet in Boulder (who is regarded as the best cat vet in town).I’m so grateful I trusted my intuition and waited to get him in to Dr. Wassef!! He was very honest about pricing, the possibility that he might not find anything, and that the steroids he was taking might show false negatives for cancer/IBS. And as we were chatting I knew he was the man that would save my soulmate Yota!I got to see a video of the surgery and it wasn’t an easy job! Had to move the large mass of hairbands from his duodenum to his stomach in order to remove them. And I received a souvenir of “the most expensive hairbands I’ll ever buy” (hopefully). Thank you again to the wonderful vet and team at Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center of Northern Arizona!! They gave sweet Yota so much love while he was recovering and he truly is a different cat today!!I’d like to note I’ve spent significantly more at my previous vet in Boulder and Yota’s health issues have only continued to decline. I told them in March I noticed him eating hairbands and asked if that could be the issue. Glad they finally shifted to cause a complete blockage at a time and place when I could find the right man to do the job!Thrilled to have found such a wonderful vet!! At VESC I feel the focus was more on our wallet and less on our sick animal in serious need of help. I will never go back to VESC, and I would not recommend it to anyone else either. My 7-month-old kitten, Lola, seemed to be a little off so we scheduled an appointment with a different veterinary clinic for Sunday morning, but by Friday afternoon she seemed really sick so we decided to take her to VESC. They seemed friendly when we arrived, and when we met Dr. Wassef he told us he was worried about it being a nasty virus that had no cure. We did a series of tests (cost $840), and when he told us the results he was very confusing. He told us her Liver was enlarged, and that he was worried about Fatty Liver Disease, or even a possible shunting of blood around the Liver that would require surgery (even though he wasn’t sure this was actually happening). He noted that her tests for leukemia and AIDS were negative, but that we would have to wait to get the results back on another virus called FIP. We didn’t understand and when we asked him he told us it was going to cost a lot of money, but that “if it was his cat he would give her the chance.” I realize now he knowingly led us in the wrong direction in an effort to get us to pay more.He came back with a plan that would cost around $3,000 to keep her there until Sunday morning, and surgery for the supposed shunting would be around $5-6,000. These numbers did not include the additional cost for care after Sunday, or what we had already spent that evening. He said the “prognosis was guarded,” but if we went for treatment we would have to “go for it all.” We were completely heartbroken because we couldn’t afford this, but we also didn’t feel comfortable putting her down not knowing what was wrong with her. We made it clear to the tech and Dr. Wassef that we didn’t understand what was going on, but the honest communication we needed was purposely avoided. It felt that the only options they gave us were to euthanize her, or to pay thousands more for additional testing/treatment. We knew we had our regular vet appointment, and we couldn’t afford what they were offering so we decided to take her home. I’m glad we did because I would have forever regretted putting her down in such a cold and uncaring facility. We told the tech that we wanted copies of all the tests so we could take them to the other vet, and that we wanted to take Lola home. The tech came back with a proposal for $303 for SQ fluids and antibiotics before we left, and one more test that would sample “the fluid in her belly.” He NEVER said anything to us about fluid in her belly, but I would later realize from the copies of his notes that this was indicative of FIP. We agreed and paid, bringing our grand total to $1,143.55 and a visit time of over 5 hours. In the last conversation we had with Dr. Wassef he seemed very concerned in telling us that the whole time he was just being honest with us, and at the very end he told us he was leaning towards FIP. Why in the world would he tell us to give her a chance, or talk about surgery on a kitty that he knew was going to die no matter what we did? After being separated for hours, they finally brought Lola back to us and we went home. I read over the notes and tests that we requested copies of, and realized how badly the truth was withheld from us. In Dr. Wassef’s notes, there were multiple places that he said her signs were indicative of FIP, for example the Hepatopathy (Liver problem) and the abdominal effusion (fluid in her belly). He never told us he was leaning towards FIP (there is no vaccine for FIP, & if diagnosed no cure) until we asked to leave and told him we were taking everything to another vet. I feel that Dr. Wassef saw an emotional person that cried for her sick kitty and knew he could manipulate us into paying more than we needed to. I am devastated by everything that happened, but I am also glad we took Lola away from VESC to spend one more night at home, and that the clinic she died in actually cared about us and most importantly, her.

I may add :) I guess you could say I get off on being a Karen!Dear Dr. Wassef,Piper is doing fantastic! It is so weird... its like all she needed was ear rinse and antibiotic ointment??? I am SO glad that I was right in knowing that she didnt need an unknown fever pathogen test!It is clear from your response, which Ive attached just for you, doc, that you are in fact the nasty person I thought you were. I know my review must have been confusing to you, so let me break it down a little more simply. We did not see you at VESCONA and boy are we glad! I never said you were our vet. What I said is I was appalled by this establishments medical director (who represents the establishment in its entirety) responses to negative reviews, which you proved with your actions to be correct.Amos, the veterinarian who made the silly fever comment (which I would be interested in seeing your opinion on that medical theory, Doc), was just fine as a vet. He wanted to do unnecessary testing, but we attributed that to his management and Id assume that is you?My original opinion stands. If this company is owned and operated by a disgusting individual, the entire establishment is rotten in my opinion. I am SO glad I will never have to go back to this place!

All I have to say it that the Vet tech Zach was wonderful. Knowledgeable, kind and patient with me and all my questions. The Vet herself was sweet as well, but she did mention that she doesn’t normally work there and was just filling in for the main doc while he was out of town... We took our dog here with a life threatening jaw injury. When presented with the treatment plan it was apparent we were going to have to put her down due to the procedures cost. However, after seeing how bad it was effecting us they basically let us pay what ever we could afford. The surgery saved our dogs life and we are forever grateful for their compassion and generosity!

Hello, I had Chelsea & Tara work with my dog a couple months ago & they were nothing but AMAZING. Tara was excellent with communicating with my wife & I. She gave us exactly what we needed. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Wassef and the amazing staff for caring for our Bella! While traveling across country we brought our pup to their facility after she suffered a dog bite in her chest cavity. The doctor performed the procedure immediately and our Bella is recovering in flagstaff while we wait to take her for her follow up. After receiving such attentive and professional care we decided to stay in flagstaff so that Dr. Wassef could complete the follow up as we had such confidence in him and trust that he is the best doctor to care for our pup so that we can then continue the rest of our trip knowing that she is on her way to a full recovery. Thank you Dr. Wassef and everyone at the Veterinary Emergency & Speciality Center!

We took our Maltese poodle in on Thanksgiving day. She wasnt feeling good, and bleeding from her uterus. We understood that this was a holiday and emergency service was more expensive. BUT the Doctor after checking our dog for maybe 2 minutes, thought she needed to go straight into surgery...... he walked out and said one of the nurses would work up a estimate....... We were the only customers, but it still took almost 45 minutes for the tech to give us a estimate......$ 4,700.00 to $ 5,800.00 !!! You would think that with that kind of surgery cost. At least the Doctor would come out and explain our options. But with no other customers and 5 different employees standing around doing nothing. We were only told to sign the form and pull out your credit card!!!! What a joke, very unprofessional........The next day, we took April to Aspen Veterinary Clinic located in east Flagstaff. The amazing Doctor Allison took her time with April and decide that she was just having her period.OMG, can you imagine if we would have taken the advice of Doctor Wassef........

To ensure that I wrote an objective review, four months have passed since my experience with Vet ER of Northern Az. Time was needed to process what resulted in a bad outcome for my dog. Although I do not blame this center for the outcome I hold them responsible for a less than compassionate experience. My dog was transferred from a nearby vet for observation and critical intervention following a surgery accompanied by complications. Following hours after her admission, and multiple phone calls to request an update, there was no return call. The unknowns left me only the choice of showing up at the center, late at night, in hopes of meeting with the vet. During that time, minimal info was provided, an incorrect, suspected diagnosis was made and little, if any compassion was shown. I feel it is the latter, the absence of compassion, that has resonated after several months. I hope this review will not only inform the readers who care deeply about their pets, but perhaps assist this center in reviewing their standards of providing care.

Stay away from this money hungry vet. My puppy over ate and then when diagnosed we were given two options, basically induce vomit, or keep her on IVs all night with them. As the doctor stated there were only two options, not even a chance she should go home and let it pass naturally. Nope just another 300 dollars after 400 dollars for x rays and exams! We told them we did not want treatment done and left. But, if you are worried about your pet and uneducated on vet related issues they will pull one over on you. Just beware! Totally ridiculous and would NEVER recommend them. Very very unethical. They don’t even deserve one starAlso from the looks of other clients it looks like this trash can of a business has also taken advantage of multiple other people! All of you at VESC should be appalled and truly embarrassed that you work at a place that runs the way you do!Trash!

This vet is COMPLETELY overpriced!!! I brought my dogs here 3 separate times for different emergencies. The past time I brought my dog here, she only needed 2 staples and they wanted to charge me $1600. I took off services I thought were unnecessary, and they were, and got the price down to $530. I had another dog that needed staples for a wound and I decided to go to another vet nearby. I was only charged $130 for 5 staples and the exact same service!!! Oh not to mention I spent probably close to 6 hours here and the other vet I was in and out of in an hour and both seemed equally busy. This place is a rip off and they make you wait forever!!! Go to the vet right around the corner!

If I could give no stars I would. I highly recommend taking your pets to another vet. Flagstaff has others that are exceptional.I took my dog here last year for an emergency visit and the doctor said he believed she has pancreatitis. He only focused on this and failed to tell my husband and I he also believed she has Cushing’s Disease. This is an incurable disease caused by a tumor on a dogs brain. So months went by without us knowing my dog had this disease. We’ve now started treatment but she got way worse since our visit to this place. She could have been treated earlier and her quality of life would be different today. The vet had 0 compassion for this and instead argued with me while I was crying vs. accepting humans make errors and he missed telling us this extremely important information. He lacks empathy and accountability. Take you pets somewhere else.

My cat had FIP and was in dire suffering this morning and he didnt recieve the euthanasia he needed that we were willing to pay for. We arrived at this vet this morning at around 7:30am because our normal vet didnt open until 8am. We agreed to pay the ridiculous amount of 300 dollars yet were made to wait nearly 20 minutes, despite having a cat who is literally screaming in pain and only being one of two parties in the waiting room. What kind of emergency clinic makes you wait 20 minutes when its nearly dead in the place? We eventually gave up and left as your receptionist was just pretending we didnt exist. Our cat died in horrible pain just 5 minutes later. That 20 minutes we were made to wait was crucial. We had him there on time to make sure he could pass somewhat peacefully, we agreed to pay your inflated emergency fees and you let us down, more importantly you let our cat down.If you cant provide emergency services, dont call yourself an emergency vet.I will be contacting your board of accreditation as well.

Our dog Chewy was attacked by 3 Pit bulls. After 6 days with a local Vet and symptoms getting extremely worse we decided he needed 24 HR care and IV antibiotics. We drove 45 mins, arrived at 10pm the night before Thanksgiving. They greeted us with immediate response to Chewys wounds. Dr Amos showed deep concern and wanted X-rays and blood work done immediately. He called me at 4 a.m. to let me know the results of his X-rays. It was clear Chewy needed surgery. Dr Wassef called me at 8 am the same day with a plan for surgery. The surgery was no doubt very complicated. Chewys wounds had flesh eating bacteria, the bacteria was starting to infect his abdomen. They needed to open him up and flush out his abdomen and check his organs. Both of his back inside thigh muscles had torn apart along with other muscles in that region. The surgery was extensive.Thanksgiving was rough without our doggy, but we knew he was in great hands. I was very greatful for the continuous updates and felt very comfortable calling just to check up on him while he was there. The front desk and back office staff were professionally trained and very curtious. We are so very grateful for these amazing Doctors. Its a mirical our sweet dog is alive and well. We will be paying his vet bills for a while, but it was worth every penny.

UPDATE: I am being accused of writing a fake review because I wrote other more positive reviews for other vets? Yes, I wrote reviews for 3 other vet practices. So is the theory that I work for *all 3* of these other places? I went to both this place and Canyon the same night for an emergency situation. The other two were my regular vets, as I have lived on both sides of Flagstaff (as the reviews state. ) A lot of pretty random details for me to make up in all of these reviews too,. If I did make them up, I would make my living in creative writing.Anyway, I think the response to my review (from the male vet I mentioned in the original review. You can see on the webpage he is both the medical director and a vet) speaks to the attitude I was unhappy about. Just unnecessary passive/aggressive rudeness. Below you can see that the doctor seems offended that I had mixed feelings. Sheesh, if you cant take that criticism I dont want to know how you respond to actual harshness.I didnt even give them a bad review. I gave a nuanced 3 star review. As for unnecessary treatment, I never accused him of trying to take advantage of me.Those were his words, not mine. I didnt speculate on motive.Since it was brought up, I think that eagerness to do surgery often comes from a complex combination of the culture that one has experienced during their education and work, personality traits, and our subconscious. I havent any idea if there was a motive in my case. All I know is I am glad I didnt do the surgery he recommended, and that the second opinions I sought also did not recommend it. Maybe it was a one-off mistake. I am just sharing my experience to help others use their best judgement. For those who have time, I encourage anyone considering this practice to read all 60 or so reviews, and make your best decision. There are some others that seem to have had similar experiences to me. Of course, read the reviews of the other vet practices, too. Maybe this is the best place for your pets. Good luck, fellow pet owners. To the doctor/medical director: If you strive for 5 star reviews, work on being nice to people, even when you dont like them. Thats my 2-cents. Again, your staff are wonderful, so you have good examples to learn from. Best wishes.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOWI have mixed feelings about this place.Positives: It is great there is a place to take your pet 24 hours a day. The staff at the front office are really amazing. They are kind and let you know everything they can that might help you and your pet, including ways to finance treatment. The vet assistants I meet were also nice.Negative: The prices are unusually high, but I guess you expect this from an *emergency* vet clinic. My main gripe is with the male vet. He does not have good beside manner at all. But even worse, in my case he was way too eager to recommend an expensive surgery. I took my baby to Canyon to get a second opinion and they did not recommend the same surgery. Even more, they offered medication and a non-surgical option that the vet at this clinic didnt even mention. And thank goodness , my baby turned out to be 100% just a few days later. Lastly, when I was at the emergency vet some guy came in and asked if he could ask the vet a quick question. I dont remember what the question was, but I do remember thinking it was the type of thing that would take 30 seconds to answer. The vet tech came back after talking to the doctor and told him he would need to pay for a consultation appointment. Thats just petty. Most vets will answer that kind of question, maybe because they are kind and caring, but even just because they know they are creating a relationship and can win over a future customer.Overall, since you go to a place ultimately because of the vet and not the staff, I would not take my pets here unless there was no other option.

Terrible money hungry people. Didnt listen to a word that was said about what we thought was wrong and insisted on checking for a foreign object in our labradors eye when we told him multiple times her mouth was hurting. Ended up NOT FINDING a foreign object and actually hurt our dogs eye, still waiting for it to heal. Not kidding when the next bill to come out was for bloodwork and antibiotics and was close to 800 dollars... which in comparison with every other vet Ive had experience with is about a 8 to 10 times markup. In addition, rude and inconsiderate vet and vet tech. Took our dog to different vet after refusing to pay for their scam and they took care of her and gave her what she needed and scheduled a follow up to evaluate her after swelling recedes, and even they were concerned about her eye. For your information, her eye was fine before the procedure and afterwards her 3rd eyelid that dogs have was so red and swollen you couldnt see her eye. If youre looking at these reviews and notice a pattern of people either loving it or hating it, listen to the people who hate it, because in my honest opinion this veterinarian is only in it for money and is scamming people.

We are from the Valley and realized something was wrong with our dog so I took her to N Az Vet Emergency and was made to think our dog was about to die. Thankfully, while waiting for the cost estimate, we called our regular vet in Phoenix who was skeptical about the diagnosis. Then I was given an itemized estimate to sign. My mental total was about $800 but the total at the bottom said $1060. I asked the tech and she said “oh well ...the tax..”. I added it up on my phone calculator to $799. She said “oh the computer must be acting up” and left the room. I originally had a gut reaction of mistrust in Dr. Wassef as he described his diagnosis, how bad it was, and the possible complications, and once I saw that intentionally wrong bill, I paid $95 for the visit and left. My husband drove our dog back to the valley where the same service for “$1060” will be $300. Note that the total for all they recommended would have been $4,600. Our vet in Phoenix thinks that surgery will probably be unnecessary- if she’s right, out total will be $400 or less.

They just want your money. I was here to have my fur baby taken care of and I guess cause we live on the road (we live in my husbands semi for 2 months at a time) they gave us a course of action to treat him. So we come back 5 days later to start his treatment and they said they wont start the treatment option they originally said our baby could do once his antibiotics were finished. As we were there this morning they suggested taking him to petsmart but then turned and said wed go thru this every time he needed more treatment. So there solutions was drug the poor baby more instead of starting his treatment. This vet also refused to treat him because the first vet here that seen him isnt here today and its his patient but they also say they arent a treatment facility they are only a emergency care vet. So in the end they only want our baby on drugs instead of treating him. They want money. 175$ to get our baby on drugs for another 5 days instead of treating the problem. They say bring him here if you decide to get him started so we do than told they would treat him if they can see him every 5 days then say they wont treat him cause they arent a treatment facility....... in the end THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMALS WELL BEING SO IF YOUR DOG IS STRUGGLING TO BREATHE YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEAVE WITG PUTTING YOUR ANIMAL ON DRUGS OR SUFFER JUST AS OUR DOG IS DOING. FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR FURBABY STAY AWAY!!! YOU can always just hand over your wallet and pray that will help cause they DONT CARE.

STAY AWAY! The vet tech and the young gal at the front desk were great! However, after waiting for almost two hours to actually speak with Dr. Wassef, the experience changed.First, I understand that the purpose of business is to make money, but when thats the only function - I dont even know what to say. My experience here was horrendous. My poor puppy sustained a cut in the forrest and we immediately headed straight for this place for an assessment. Im never one to completely rely on gut instincts, but my gut when Dr. Wassef walked in sank into the pit of my stomach. His energy was poor and it was clear that he didnt care about me or my dog. This was my first inclination that this wasnt going to work out.Next, his professionalism was a near 0/10. He quite literally barely looked at my dogs injuries. After a quick view, which you couldnt even see the injury, he said he needed to use a full anesthesia to perform a few stitches for our dog. Admittingly our dog has a ton of energy, but after Dr. Wassefs initial introduction, our puppy was laying on the ground without energy, virtually falling asleep. I asked him for both a proposal for anesthesia and sedation(since he said it was possible!) only to have the vet tech present a proposal for anesthesia?? I dont necessarily question his knowledge that stitches were needed, but I question his ethics..for reasons I will explain later. Finally, my dog never whimpered or cried or acknowledged his injury to this point - and I couldnt wrap my brain around the entire situation in its entirety. The proposal I was given for 5 stitches and 1 surgery was $1,100 before tax. I immediately said heck no and walked out after paying my obligatory $94 to sit in a room for 2-hours.I then went home to Phoenix that night after a little self cleaning of his cut and elected to find a 7-day a week clinic that would accept an appointment in the AM on a Sunday. This same week happened to be the week that we were supposed to get him neutered, and when I went to a this clinic in Phoenix, I simply asked for them to perform the stitches & neuter at the same time, ONLY TO COST $475 ON THE SPOT! If it were only the stitches, it would only cost us $235 dollars for the stitches!!! Literally $1,000 cheaper or 20% the cost from these clowns.I cant recommend enough that you should NOT go this clinic. Its literally worth every penny to keep driving and go anywhere else. I have never been so upset with a medical practice in my entire life. This place, specifically Dr. Wassef lacked care, professionalism, expertise, and ethics. I advise you to keep on going.THERE IS A PLACE ACROSS THE STREET.
