After going to Best Buy and getting a ridiculous waiting time & price, I decided to come to this place. The pricing was perfect and I received my computer in a total of two hours after dropping it off. I highly recommend Cape Fear Computer & Phone Repairs to anyone needing a repair. The guys are very professional, nice, and will get the job done.

Brought my PC to them for having spontaneous crashes due to driver errors. They had my PC for 6 weeks and werent able to diagnose the problem. They chose to spend time swapping out GPUs rather than looking into the driver conflicts. I already conducted a vigorous diagnoses myself, and stated that it was a software issue. However, they spent all the time swapping out GPUs? After I decided to pick up the PC and fix it myself, they charged me $40 for a labor fee. I even asked in the beginning if they would charge me if they were unable to properly diagnose the issue, to which they glanced over the question. Pretty useless, they couldnt even find out what the problem was over a period of 6 weeks and charged me $40 for no service provided.Response: I did say that I did not expect this to be a quick fix, however, after 1.5 months I expected some results. At least a diagnosis would suffice. I did state in the beginning that the computer crashes during any task. I stated that it has crashed while playing games, working on homework, watching YouTube, and even staring at the desktop. The reason that I said it happens most when Im playing games is because that is what I use the computer mostly for. I use my laptop for the majority of my homework and other needs. I also explained this to the technicians to explain that the issue did not appear to be game-related. The portion where he explains turning my steam into Offline Mode is also true. But I expected a PC repair shop to have some benchmarks on hand, not use my personal gaming accounts and software to test my own system. So yes. I did ask them to stop using my game accounts as it was interrupting my experience at home. There are plenty of free benchmark tests that are available online. Also, my personal details of having other computers at home serves no point in this review. I was specifically complaining about their repair procedures, not how tragic my life was without one of my computers for 6 weeks. Furthermore, it sounds petty for an owner of a tech repair company to state, I find it hard to believe that after he worked on it for months that the day after he picked it up he fixed it,. This was not the issue. I do not care how long it takes for me to fix it myself. The issue is that I lost trust in the apparent professionals handling my computer. I did not try to argue this point when I picked up the computer as I had just left work, and did not wish to paint a bad image for my workplace. Anyone in Fayetteville can guess what I mean by that. I disagree with the $40 fee. In my eyes, you must earn results to get paid. You wouldnt drop off your car at a mechanic for them not to fix your car, or even give you a diagnosis, then still charge you. That would be absurd. The world doesnt revolve around At least you tried trophies. The truth is, that these technicians lack an elevated expertise on this subject. He tested everything I would have tested,. The fact that my review is the first 1 star review in almost 20 years means two things: most repairs brought to their shop are basic issues that could be fixed by any other shop, secondly, they were unable to even diagnose a unique issue. In short, if you have a serious problem with your computer, and youre somewhat proficient with computers, dont waste your time here.

I dropped my laptop a few months ago, and it wouldnt display video anymore. I took my computer here after getting quoted $465 at a different repair shop. The gentleman that helped me here took it in the back and within 15 minutes discovered what appeared to be some signs that the other repair shop had tampered with my laptop. The connectors for the screen had been moved completely out of the way (farther than they should have been from a short drop) and only needed to be reconnected. He easily reconnected them and gave me back my laptop. When I asked how much I owed him, he said NOTHING. Of course, I paid him for it, but he saved me from a nearly $500 scam. Please, if you have any computer or phone repair needs take your business here, you will not be disappointed.

Went in for a part best buy and a few other PC stores didnt have. These guys had it! Theyve got a little dog for people in the store to say hi to! Carries parts to build powerful rigs for art, gaming, or just an overall powerhouse for work.

Recently had the screen replaced on my Lenovo Yoga 730. I appreciated that time was taken to explain the repair process and some of the obstacles they may encounter. The repair was made flawlessly, paying attention to every detail, and at a very reasonable price. The gentlemen that run the shop are great; very honest, professional and provide excellent customer service. Hands down would trust any device in their care.

These guys did an amazing job fixing my sons gaming computer. Took it in and it was ready to go within 2hrs, I would recommend them 100 times out of a 100.

After building my own PC it wouldnt start and I was unsure what went wrong, so I called and they were very friendly and told me to bring it in. The problem was a simple fix that took less than 10 minutes. They were informative and helpful and because the fix was so easy they didnt even charge me! I brought a brand new custom build to these guys because it was caught in a boot loop I couldnt resolve, these guys were very professional and were able to diagnose the issue within the hour and fix it by the end of the day. Ive had my iPhone screen repaired here as well as my samsung screen repaired. They were the cheapest in town. The quality was good too, unlike some other places in town who use very cheap parts. Im taking my computer there for a windows 10 upgrade tomorrow. I highly recommend them.

Bought new graphics card from Best Buy and tried to install it myself, only for my computer to mysteriously break. The Geek Squad guesstimated it was probably the power supply. I tried to replace it but it didnt work. Anything more serious suggested it would be more cost effective to buy a new computer.My husband offered to pay for the diagnosis fee, just to make sure. Cape Fear painstakingly sifted through wreckage for 3 days and confirmed the cpu and motherboard were fried. At that point it looked like I was going new computer shopping. However, Cape Fear offered to replace and upgrade the parts. The cost would come much lower than even a budget gaming computer, essentially having Cape Fear build me a new computer.I bought a couple parts and a used graphics card. They ordered and installed the new cpu, motherboard, parts I ordered and tested the card to make sure it was good. Additionally, they noticed I had an extra solid state drive that my husband put in for extra space, and offered to move the operating system to it so that I would get the benefit of the faster speed. Once my parts arrived on Saturday, the labor was done and I picked my computer up on Monday. Plugged in and voila! Everything is gorgeous. The graphics are amazing. The speed is uncanny. Its like my computer is a factory showroom model. Best of all, I no longer feel like kicking myself for breaking my own computer just because I wanted better pictures in a silly game.I am very, very, very happy with my experience with Cape Fear Computer Repair. :)

My computer screen was Dead and this was the 2nd place I went to. The first place initially gave me an estimate of $300.00 then said it was not repairable. Deek was able to fix my 17 HP laptop HD screen in a reasonable time and a very reasonable price. I went here yesterday to get my laptop screen fixed. Not only did they have the screen already it stock, it took him only 5 minutes to figure out if they did have the part. It only took an additional 10 minutes to get the new screen on. I was walking out with my fixed laptop in no time. Highly recommend.

These guys are excellent and very knowledgable, 100x more helpful than anyone from Best Buys Geek Squad. Took him less than 5 minutes figure out the type of RAM my old computer needed when it took 15 minutes waiting in line then another 20 minutes for the guy at Geek Squad to figure it out. These guys had the RAM cards on hand even though the cards are old and out dated and he gave me an excellent price on them. Im only bringing my computer business to these guys now and completely ditching Best Buy.

Service and advice is fantastic at Cape Fear Computer. They have fixed two of our older systems and just help us design a new one. Both the product and service prices are at or below the market rate, and the service is like the Ritz Carlton of computer stores. They really know their computers, but also how to treat people. I had the screen of my mackbook pro replaced here since it was cracked and my AppleCare had expired. The job done was unbelievably amazing. It was fixed really quickly.Time between drop off and fix after parts arrived took about 3 hours which is impressive since it takes almost as long just to speak to a rep at Apple store just to tell the rep what is wrong..I was kept informed every step the way both when the parts came in and when it was ready for pick up. So, i had a very weird problem with my custom built computer. It kept shutting off randomly, and froze during memory tests, i brought it to another shop in town a few times and they kept giving me the run around charging me for things that didnt even need to be fixed. I can not tell you all enough how grateful I am for Cape Fear Computer, Inc. I took my MacBook Air to another local computer repair shop, and they told me that I needed a whole new monitor. I was quoted over $600.00 for the repair. As it turned out, I did not need a new monitor, and the repair only cost me right at $140.00. Geek squad didnt want to help me out due to my equipment being too old. One tech shop i turned my laptop to. Parted out the laptop and did not give me the original one back. Did sevices i did not authorize. Also took a custom PC to the same shop and gave me my pc back and said he couldnt fix it. That shop switched out the good cpu with old broken cpu. Not too tech savy but had a bad experience and feared taking my equipment to a another shop. Cape Fear Computer was quick, fast and easy like the easy button that the shop had in their front counter. Took my laptop in right before 11am and didnt expect to recieve the laptop for a couple days. CAPE FEAR COMPUTER was able to do same day service. Called when the service was close to being done. I took in my MacBook Pro to get my display fixed because that’s what apple told me was wrong with it. Apple told me it would be 400$ and take 4-5 weeks to be sent off and get back to me. I took it into Deek (excuse me if that is spelt wrong) and he had it fixed within 4 hours and it wasn’t even my display that was messed up, and he saved me a couple hundred dollars!! Highly recommend you go see him!!

The gentleman at the front desk was really nice and got me what I needed quickly.

I had ordered a new HDD to store videos, and games thought I had a SATA 3.0 and didnt called around, most places didnt know what I was talking about or didnt stock in store. I called just to see and they had both styles right angle and non. They helped in a pinch to complete my new install with out having to wait on one to be shipped. Very goods staff would tell anyone to come in and see what they can do for you.

Outstanding service! They have replaced the charger port on my wifes tablet several times. Her fingers are partially numb and she has difficulty plugging in the mini-USB cable without damaging connectors. Weve replaced countless USB cables and several charger ports. When I took the tablet in a few days ago for another charger port repair Lynn, understanding the situation, suggested adapting the tablet to use a wireless charger. When I picked up the repaired tablet Lynn had repaired the port and had taken the initiative to install the wireless unit as a no obligation trial to see if it would meet our need. It works great! We very much appreciate his not only repairing the tablet but also taking the initiative to solve the root problem.Lynn and Deek have always been friendly, helpful, and did what they said they would when they said they would at a fair price. I am glad to recommend them to other folks.This is an additional review for a different computer service need: Recently a lightening strike fried both of my desktop computers. Based on prior excellent experience I took the dead boxes to Cape Fear Computers and asked them to try to at least salvage my data and if possible repair the computers. They were able to salvage my data and suggested a less costly way to rebuild my computers than exact replacements for the damaged parts. Once again they took initiative to meet my need rather than simply replace parts. I continue to be very pleased with the service Lynn and Deek provide and highly recommend them.
