I have trained Jiu Jitsu across the country and around the world, for the past 15 years. I received a recommendation to train at Elevate from an old training partner from Japan and was beyond impressed with my training experience during my time on the mats at Elevate.The environment was highly competitive without being aggressive, or uncomfortable, and was relevant to all skill levels. Everyone there was extremely welcoming, full of positive energy, and there were no cliques like you find with many other schools that train at a high level.Brett, the primary sensei for groundwork, has a unique perspective on the grappling arts that results in an outstanding level of instruction. I might attempt to describe his style as Judo Newaza blended heavily with both modern and fundamental Jiu Jitsu, as well as wrestling. His effectiveness as a teacher really shows in his students as they are TOUGH.Every time I stepped on the mats at Elevate was a positive experience. I couldn’t ask for a better martial arts experience for my family. Elevate offers classes focused on both Judo and BJJ, in a clean, spacious, and modern gym, for both kids and adults. If you are unfamiliar, they’re both basically fancy wrestling in pajamas, are tons of fun, a great work out, and don’t involve getting punched and kicked. The instructors are friendly and welcoming to all types, from old guys like me who need to get in shape, to folks who drive over from the Navy base, to the URI Judo club students, to young kids. My daughter and I have been at it for 2-1/2 years here and are still happy every time we walk through the door. Come on down and join us.

Ive been going to Elevate for 5 months. Elevate is definitely the best martial arts dojo in South County, whether you just want to get in shape, learn a new skill, or train and compete. Elevate has a good mix of all skill levels, ages, and sizes. Everyone here is friendly, respectful, and welcoming of all students.
