Hendersons Tax Services is top of the line as far as Im concerned. The first time we visited our thoughts were oh my goodness, these people run their tax service out of a basement. Dont let that be a turn off. Tracy and Mike Henderson do a quick, professional job. Highly recommended to anyone. Their cost is very reasonable and weve been going there for around 8 years. Excellent Service and Professional People.

Attached to this review are two photo images of letters from the IN Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division.Update (4-29-21) - My complaint remains unresolved. Tracey, why did you refuse mediation offered for free from the Indiana State Attorney General? Why don’t we arbitrate instead with the Evansville BBB? If an arbitrator agrees you met your responsibilities, I’ll pay all arbitration costs. In my opinion, if you believed what you did was fair, why would you shy away from a dispute resolution meeting?I will post update here, if Tracy accepts arbitration offer. It’s Tracy’s choice to, in my opinion, stonewall me, but I can document my experience here.Summary - In March 2019, an audit discovered my taxes had been incorrectly prepared by Henderson Tax Service for several years. While I owe the missed taxes, I told Tracey Henderson that ethically, she needs to reimburse me for the fines and interests ($1200). Tracey explained to me why she believes she does not need to reimburse me. Her response didnt add up to me. I emailed that it was unethical of her to leave me to pay for her errors. Tracey stopped communicating with me.I wrote the Indiana Attorney General that I believed Tracey failed in her professional responsibilities to me as a tax preparer. In my filed compliant, I included written copies of Traceys explanations written by Tracey. A Deputy Attorney General reviewed my complaint and determined it may be resolved through mediation. A case agent was assigned and I wanted to participate. Tracey refused. The file number for my complaint is 19-CP-54334 and I have allowed it to be available for the public to read.I encourage reading Traceys response claiming I’m untruthful. I stand by my posts written about Tracey. What I think speaks the loudest is Tracey’s refusal to participate in dispute resolution.I never anticipated this behavior from Tracey. As I worked with Tracey to try and resolve this Ive learned a lot.Examples -When learning of the mistakes, Tracey prepared an appeal letter for me. (She explained the computer program she used didn’t take into account the taxes found in the audit.) But she was stuck on how to send the letter. She said she didnt know how to attach the Word document to an email. I felt floored that I had been taking my taxes to someone whose skill set wasnt what I had assumed it was. I thought copying and pasting would be easier to explain than how to do an attachment over the phone. I explained to her to just copy whats on the Word document and paste in the email addressed to me. When I receive the email, Ill copy what she sent me and paste it back into a Word document to print out to take to City Hall. The appeal was rejected. And I wonder if Traceys web page was changed after the tax prep errors were discovered. After getting off the phone with Tracey, when she said she didnt know how to attach a Word document to an email, I googled Henderson Tax Service. I wanted read about her credentials. The website I pulled up for Henderson Tax Services made a statement about being able to prepare taxes for anyone. And I remember thinking that wasnt my experience. For full disclosure, I did not take a screenshot of this web page. I dont think I pulled up the a different Henderson Tax Service, but I will update my concern on this point if Tracey lets me know if I had pulled up a different Henderson Tax Service business. Several weeks later after notifying Tracey of the errors I again pulled up a web page for Henderson Tax Service and found what I think was changed wording. The web page advertises for Individual Federal & State Income Tax Preparation.Regardless, Tracey had been asked if she could prepare taxes for someone from my city 10+ years ago. She had said she could and we had no agreement that she was only preparing a portion of my taxes. Before this incident I had been a 10+ year loyal customer.
