An asset to our community in every way. The CAHOOTS teams in particular are recognized on a national level for the services they provide to those in crisis. In an age of growing inequality (and the societal ills that accompany it), White Bird and CAHOOTS shine like a beacon in the darkness.

Today was the first night at my second job. I had left my cell phone at home and had no way of calling for a ride. (15 pedestrians said no walking past.)I approached the two ladies assisting a man out of the back and asked for a call out and they called me a taxi to ensure a safe ride home. Wonderful service and excellent staff!

Kinda scary when you call the hotline three times in three hours about a man in distress who might be a harm to himself/ others and they say they’re on their way but don’t show up. The guy is still outside yelling to himself. Yes I’ve called 911 and they said Cahoots had a dispatch out. The third time I called Cahoots they asked if I was in an emergency and when I said I was calling about this situation, they hung up on me. It’s 38 degrees out.

Just called to see about an appointment. Susan L answered and informed me that the medical center is separate and they have a different number. No pen to write it, asked what it’s called to look it up and the says “oh” and then hangs up.What great service!Suck staff obviouslyCan’t even make an appointment? Why spend your money here

I have called this place on multiple occasions at my place of business to help in certain situations. They are a great police/emt and are specifically trained to work in situations that need deescalation rather than the law to step in. They have a fantastic mission statement that they follow and hold themselves too. In my opinion, they are one of the best parts to my local community.

My wife and I went there last night as she was in crisis. I had no idea you could walk in for counseling until I checked the website. I thought you could only call Cahoots, and were just outside the area. The staff was kind and caring, checking on us as we waited make sure we were as comfortable as possible. And its a very inviting old house with comfortable seating. The counselor was one of the best weve ever talked with. My wife is feeling so much better now. Thanks for helping us as well as all you help.

The dental clinic was great in the past. Has gone downhill. Dont waste your time, unless you like being treated like a second class citizen only to have services refused in the end. No compassion or kindness from the receptionists who appear to be fresh from the nail salon.

White Bird SHOULD in theory be a wonderful community resource, but unfortunately this isnt the case. Ive taken medication prescribed for anxiety and depression for years; medication that comes with HORRIFIC discontinuation syndrome when cut off cold-turkey. Medical doctors know these mental-health drugs absolutely cannot be stopped without weaning the patient off of them slowly and in a controlled matter. My anxiety and depression are well-controlled on medication, and the ONLY crimes I committed in White Birds eyes are missing an appointment and some medication doses. I was told today that my prescriptions will not be refilled because of this, effectively cutting me (and my brain chemistry) off.I dont understand how this is legal, or why Im being punished for missed doses and one appointment. White Bird works heavily with the homeless population. While Im not without a roof over my head, situations like these directly lead to mental health crisis and homelessness when people dependent on medication for their livelihood and wellbeing have those meds suddenly taken away. And the State of Oregon wonders why it has a homeless crisis on its hands? Shameful. I would not recommend White Bird to my worst enemy.

I have some issues with mental illness, and my therapists suggested that if I just needed to talk with someone to call Cahoots, I told her that I thought that they might take me away. I was assured by her, that it wouldnt happened. Well I had the need, and so I called them. They came to my house 2days in a row. The second time, my new 8mth old puppy ran off, they told me that they would look for her, far beyond their job. Thank you so much. God Bless you

Thank you, White Bird! You literally kept me from crossing the thin-veil between this world...and the next. On Sunday, 13 July 2014, I had a massive cardio-event at the Oregon Country Faire...far from any normal medical help. You responded quickly....efficiently...professionally...and kept me with the living. Your gift to me is deeply appreciated. I now enter myself as one who will help you continue your work helping others.Thank you one and all!

Cahoots dealt with the crazy alcoholic street person who broke the huge window at Walmart. They also responded to the woman who was crying and intoxicated. This is what they do best. Eugene is inundated with hobos and derelicts, so despite many services, not everyone can be helped. The moral: if you are homeless, go somewhere else. Eugene has reached its limit of compassion, time and money. After 30 years, another city needs to start accepting the vagabonds, who constantly take, and never give back.

Established over 20 years ago by two guys traveling through Eugene, who discovered the lack of urgent medical services that were available to the in or, under insured. Especially lacking was mental health services for acute crisis situations wherein people had few, if any ready options ,especially on a 24/7 basis. Mental episodes usually for go the convenience of occurring by appointment, and as such, the establishment of 24/7 staffed , trained counselor responding telephone hotlines surely have made a difference in thousands of desperate folks who have phoned in over the years.Since its inception, the nonprofit has expanded, offering low to no cost income level sliding scale fee medical, dental and full scale mental health services, as well as respected drug and alcohol treatment facilities. They have long had crisis tents staged at large concert venues, and the Oregon Country Fair, for dehydrated and often over dosed dead show goers back in the day.Endowed, and endeared this uniquely Eugene landmark will be around forever! Help with getting OR ID or DL, Birth certificates, obtaining health insurance, eyeglasses (wait list), free expert help applying for SSI and or SSDI, getting a cost free Obama mobile smart phone, are just a few of the services graciously given to all in need. They are also a clearinghouse of information on most all charitable services available in the area. The best of the best among volunteers in this town. Another Eugene jewel we are so grateful for as they serve a largely underserved demographic who frequently have urgent, and seemingly impossible needs, many of which are solved with a phone to one of the experienced telephone hotlines crisis counselors. Not sold on the extent, and validity of how talking to some person would be, I am not to proud to disclose that in the midst of an terrifying anxiety attack, which are new to my list of medical propensities, of just how helpful, and, effective the breathing coaching given to me with calm, confident patience by a comforting and obviously well experienced counselor. I was amazed at the near instant effectiveness of their methods, and remain extremely grateful for theyre having been there for me at a time of consternation over confusion when no other apparent exit was visible. Thank You!

Hello, I havent as of yet experienced the help of cahoots or whitebird. However, I wanted to respond to the ignorant view of Jeff zekas. Thank the good Lord you are among the few. Since you havent spoken to ....or picked up one of their backpacks or worn their shoes....stfu. lmao. Some...fought for our country....others...who knows? I pray you never have to ever find out what it is like to feel hopeless...however momentary. Most have already given. To what?! Your small view of society?! You are the one who should leave. Goodbye. You are the joke.

I waited 3 days patiently for help with the Medicaid application. I had a 1pm appointment with Jen. I showed up at 8 minutes till at 15th and Mill. Nobody there! The sign said Fridays open from 8am-noon. I went downstairs to the dental section and the woman didnt know anything, didnt know Jen and suggested that I try upstairs which of course was closed. Two people walked in after me also looking for help. Thank God there was no emergency. Dont waste your time with this place.

Peggy and other staff are heartless and unwilling to listen or help when a real crisis shows up. The ONLY advice that was given was to come back and check back in a week or go to planned parenthood and seek help for mental crisis there. NOT OK AT ALL!!!
