I took my 1970 Chevelle to Hawthorne Tire after a recommendation from a co-worker. They took my car on with no appointment, and were amazing to deal with. Wayne and company are friendly, courteous, and really take the time to talk to their customers. He gave pricing and a timeline upfront and gave me a courtesy call to give me a progress update. The tech working on my car was also very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this business to anyone, and plan on bringing my other vehicles here as well.**Edit**I just took my 1973 FJ here as well over the weekend, and am happy to say I got the same great service as I did with my Chevelle. I could tell Brandon really took his time with the vehicle and spent some time letting me know about areas I could improve on the vehicle. Wayne was friendly as always, and scheduling my appointment was easy and straight forward.

I don’t mess around with car safety and wanted to get tires from someone whose advice I could trust. I bought tires from this shop in October (waited until after summer as John recommended when I asked him in the spring for an estimate - he said since my tires had a little more tread I could wait until off season to save some money). Had a screw causing low pressure this past weekend. Went to another shop because it was closer to my house and they said they couldn’t repair it because it was in the side wall. They offered to sell me a new tire or I could check with the place I bought it. I was able to check with Hawthorne today and they repaired the tire since the screw was actually in the tread, not the side wall. I’m a firm believer in quality service and this place provides just that. It’s family run which is so refreshing compared to so many franchises / chains. They’re friendly and there’s an awesome dog to pet while they’re checking you in!

Excellent shop. Will use again. Owner went the extra mile to determine what the necessary repair was rather than make a costly part replacement. I totally appreciate that. The issue could have been solved either way but he saved me hundreds by making a repair rather than replacing an entire assembly. Then the owner surprised me with a follow up call a week later to see if the repairs solved my problem. Never had this kind of care from privately owned shop. I will definitely use this shop again.

Went in for an alignment took 2.5 hour. Drove away the steering wheel was off to the left. Brought it back, had to make another appointment. Second time wait another 2 hours, drove away same problem. Called them , they wanted me to leave the car for the whole day. I have a job , your screw up and I have to keep coming back.

Smart people working here. They actually diagnose problems and fix them instead of guessing like everyone else does.

Best mechanic shop Ive ever been to. Very good prices for quality work. Theyre accommodating and trustworthy. Made an appointment for fixing whatever made the check engine light come on and they handled that perfectly. Then a few months later ran over a nail on my way to school, called to see if they could help and they had it patched up literally within 45 minutes of it happening. 10/10 service and now I look forward to things going wrong with my car so I can go back.

I was referred here by a friend and I am so grateful! My car, an old Mercedes with over 235,000 miles is still on the road and I attribute that to John Hawthorne and his Mechanics! I know my vehicle won’t last that much longer before having to put a lot of money into it, so I appreciate John giving me a list of things that are crucial and those items that can wait. Hawthorne Tire was a great experience. I took my vehicle to another place and they quoted me almost $500 for a job I thought would cost far less. I am SO GLAD I got a second opinion with Hawthorne Tire. The job ended up costing me close to nothing, and because of their honest service I know I have a car working in perfect condition. I’ve been here over the years and all I can say is WOW. John and his staff are phenomenal at what they do. Not only are they great at repairs but they wont try and trick you into getting anything you don’t absolutely need.Aside from the great work and fair prices, John is a very honesty man. He understands that car problems happen and that people rely on their cars for a multitude of things. He will always work hard to get you in and out as soon as possible and if there is anything he can do to get you to where you need to go, he will. On multiple occasions he has offered to personally drive me home and on top of that he’s even ordered me an Uber to take me to a haircut appointment I was going to be late for because my car has issues on the way there.He never asks for anything in return and is someone I admire as a person and a businessman. He’s everything you’ll ever want in a person and is someone I’ll always recommend no matter the situation. Stop by yourself, you won’t regret it!

Right as I was moving to Escondido from a remote location my truck suspension had some issues. John and crew took care of the issue, which stemmed from a suspension swap (bad ball joints). A few months later the other side had the same odd feel so in we went. Thank goodness as it was a different and more serious issue.Im confident in my auto shop selection, not so confident in the repairs previously performed. I love my truck but I have trust issues, at least Hawthorne Tire is nearby and known to provide excellent service.

Took my car in because check engine light was on. They said it was due to a hose leak. Paid 487.09 and two days later check engine came back on. They just reset the light so it would look like it was fixed. Gonna go back and make them fix it or refund me. Very crooked. Gotta report to bbb

Terrible customer service and a day late fixing my car. Though, the left the brake free hanging and scraping against my rotor so we would have to come in and pay more to fix it. Love these guys. Here for my wife who is the hospital. Having ro take her home to Yuma was concerned about my cars tires being dry rot due to Az sun. Called John last min. He was more than accomodating. Personally seeing that my tires were replaced at a reasonable price and the fluids were topped off to ensure I get the wife home safe. Love the family atmosphere, fast, friendly and genuinely concerned for mine and the families well being. Just cant get this kind of service anywhere at any price. Thanks John & Donna. Aug 2017, experienced a shimmy in the steering wheel of my 2011 Honda Pilot days before a 6k mi family vacation across US. Bottom line up front, 5 stars, knowledgeable staff, outstanding service, family owned & operated, topped off oil no charge (qt low).Details: Called Hawthorne Tire & Auto based on a local friends friends recommendation (N SD County native: Vista / Escondido) for an alignment & spoke to Donna, receptionist, over the phone. She said most shimmies mean a wheel balance is needed. Took it to Discount Tire, San Marcos since I have a lifetime rotation & balance. Shimmy solved (thx to receptionist recommendation), but slight pull to the L, so booked Appt w/ Hawthorne for alignment following day. Front alignment needed, but back fell w/n specs. On test drive Pilot still pulled to L, so John, owner, had front tires swapped, & sure enough Pilot pulled to R. Turns out uneven tire wear leading to pull. Tires probably have less than 10k let on them. Rotated tires back to the rear to eliminate pull. Will replace tires after the trip. First impression of Hawthorne is 5/5. No wonder a locals first recommendation for alignment was Hawthorne. Friend thought location was off of Rancheros. That was the previous location. John (owner) shared that this new Esco location zoning laws allows Hawthorne to be a full service shop, oil changes, etc.

Honest, trust worthy, professional are just some of the words that come to my head when I talk about Hawthorne Tire & Auto Service to others.My first impression from talking to John (owner) over the phone in regards to my lexus is250 was great. I had questions and he took the time to talk to me about my options.Once I was at the shop, John greeted me and started the process of examining the issues that I had mentioned to him. As I waited in the comfortable lobby I had the chance to speak to a few of his regular customers that only had great things to say about Hawthrone. You know your at a great place when customers are like family and they keep coming back for more.On a side note...they have wireless internet access. A PLUS since I just got back from a business trip and needing to tie loose ends.Once they examined my car...they gave me my options and recommendations. I loved that they didnt try use Fear tactics on the recommended items my car needed. I was told that my car would be safe to drive and we could revisit the recommendations at a later time. But no pressure on there part about having to purchase those services.Plain and simple this shop is great! The Staff, the customers, the shop and the over all experience has left me a very happy customer. Please visit them when you are looking into getting services done on your vehicles.
