If you have any other choice do not go with Viasat. Service is terrible. Customer service is terrible. They take advantage of people who have no other choice but to use their service and drag their feet resolving issues. Their app is glitchy and unrealiable for making payments or just about anything else aside from telling you they want more money from you. I have paid for months of service on my contract with no internet because of various issues and outagesSeriously dont waste your time and money if you have a choice.

After 11 days on their premium unlimited service, we could no longer stream on our TV. Beware of what this company promises. We are not using data gaming--just watching some football and movies. No daytime TV but miraculously that data is used up and they slow us down so we cant watch. And that is with their premium unlimited plan. They tell us that we have to wait until the cycle begins again (2 weeks) before the data is sufficient. Really? The pics are the notice on the TV and the actual picture of a Netflix series.

I have been with them for little over 2 years and just cancelled my service as I am switching over to Starlink. I had the basic coverage were the speed was poor but I did put up with it as there isnt any options in the mountains were I live and the cost is high. Starlink is costing me $10 more a month and speed is so much faster. When I cancelled there service I was informed that I will need to return there modem/power cord and that they will send me the box. I received the box today and they also want a device from the dish returned. I already disposed of the dish as I didnt need it anymore. Well they are chagrining me $150 for not returning that. When I called them to see what can be done about this they just told me that the fees are in the agreement. I informed them that I never read it and most people dont. Also stated that why was I informed that I need to return the modem and nothing else and they again said there is nothing they can do. I even stated how about partial credit for this and they again stated that fees are posted in the agreement.

First supervisor I spoke to promised us a refund and cancellation and they would give us a call back to finalize. no call back. 5 months later next supervisor says that they see the notes from the previous conversation but does not have enough information to do anything about it. Katie McClaini have dealt with a lot on internet companies as i move around a lot and i must say this is by far the worst company i have ever dealt with. Anytime you call they give you a round about answer or do not follow through. I have been dealing with them for about 2 months now about a $350 refund to be processed back to me as they overcharged my account that was an error of one of there employees from mistakenly cancelling my account. Every time i call they say will be refunded within 3-5 business days...... and never gets processed. i have spoken with multiple employees and supervisors at this company and have gotten no where. Unfortunately my next steps i will have to take will have to be to contact the BBB or higher. I advise if you HAVE to get satellite internet to try Hughes net, they dont have as good of data plans, but maybe youll have better luck with their employees and maybe they wont keep money they are not entitled too.

Everything started out great and then we started not having service from 6-10 every night. We had a technician come out everything was good for about a week. Then it started not working again. Also, they couldnt figure out how to take my payment and it took 2 calls and 2 hours to pay my bill. Then we were out of service due to an equipment malfunction again and they stood us up after waiting all day. Customer service kept us on hold on and off for an hour and 45 minutes. They did not give us a sufficient compensation for the hassle. They promised calls and they never called. The fulfillment department does not get back to people. They told us that since their technician did not come at on the day we scheduled and waited all day, that we would go to the back of the line and have to wait another week for another possible appointment and take off work again. -Not satisfied*

Horrible internet. Slow, terrible and horrible customer service. Also way overpriced. Unfortunately for us it’s the best option available until starlink becomes available. Also, not truly unlimited. I have had this service for two years. It is very expensive. Even if you purchase a faster download speed you still have to consider the time it takes for the signal to get to a satellite. And the usage per month is capped so once you use your allotted amount the speed becomes terrible. My kids could not even do their online classroom activities the speed was so slow. If you are forced to get a satellite set up because of location the Viasat is about the best youll find at a high cost. A hardwired or wireless internet even with lower speeds will be faster because there is no satellite.

Termination fee 8months x $15 = $120.Its now 2 days after disconnect was to happen and Viasat has invoiced credit card for fulll amount $169 yet again.Another 40 minute call with them and their claim was they were waiting on another call. Total; BS.Their promised internet speed NEVER once got close to half of what we were paying for. Anytime there was a cloud anywhere in the sky (not in-line) the service would be minimal at best.Service guys were nice, but the follow thru and competency of the company delivering what was promised is a total zero.

I initially had a great experience with them in Oregon, but after moving to Colorado they have been substandard and down right terrible. Extremely slow service ( 1.75) mb per second, terrible customer service, and after I called to ask them to fix the extremely slow speeds, I went from having just no wifi, to no internet period. I wish I had never signed up with them again and will be waiting over a week for a tech which may or may not actually fix anything. We have the plan that claims to offer download speeds of 70 mbps. I’ve never seen it get higher than 2 mbps. In fact, 2 mbps is glorious for me because most of the time I’m looking at 60 to 100 kbps. It’s not possible to surf the web at that speed. They know this to be true, but they con you into a 2 year contract and they will not budge once you realize you’ve been scammed. This is a company that knows they are one of the only options and they take advantage of people.Elon Musk has already launched the beta for his new satellite internet, StarLink. It will go live in a few months for the general public, with actual download speeds of 50 mbps, 50 ms latency and a reasonable price. Wait for Elon’s internet. Hopefully Viasat dissolves into a distant memory.

If I could give a -1000 I would. This company is TERRIBLE. I contacted Century Link to set up services through them & Direct TV. I was SOMEHOW bundled with Viasat instead. Unbeknownst to me, the installation tech SAW that my house was prewired for cable & internet as it was built in 2020. Yet went ahead with the install. He drilled a huge hole from the exterior in to wire a satellite & mounted it to MY ROOF. Thats right. I have holes in my roof, countless in my siding. Warranties are voided, the list goes on. & then finally when it was all said & done, the tech asked me to watch a tutorial video from Viasat-- a company I had never heard of. To which he made clear was not in fact Century Link or Direct TV-- the services I thought I hired. They refuse to take down the satellite, or even return my calls. I cancelled my services IMMEDIATELY after the technician left, had all cancellation fees waived & these crooks want to charge me $95 to remove the box pointed at the satellite, not even the whole thing. I will be seeking legal counsel & taking this to the FULLEST extent of the law.

We had thought that getting our Internet through Dish would be a good idea. The price seemed better than we had with Comcast. They came out on Monday, Feb 1 and installed a new Viasat Dish on our roof. The service was started. By Wednesday we were very discouraged by the service--the speed was back in the beginning stages of internet. Emails loaded extremely slow and web sites sometimes timed out because of the time to load it. We called Comcast on Thursday and made a better deal. They upped our speed and lowered our price. On Friday, we called Viasat to cancel the service. It has only been 4 days and we are still being held responsible for the entire contract of cancellation of $15/mo for the duration of the contract (24 months). They are also saying we need to pay the $95 to come and take the dish away. They were not sorry or willing to work with us. We called Dish to report them (they work directly with Viasat for their internet). Not much support or help since the contract was with Viasat. They did say they would look into it for the future. We wanted all to know before they agree to working with Viasat that they are not consumer friendly or willing to have any grace periods or a trial period in their contracts. We will NEVER work with them again no matter the cost of Comcast. So we ended up having to pay for $455 for 3 1/2 days of nothing.

Late March 2020, I went from spending $60/month with them on their residential internet plan to $175/month on their business internet. The company they hired to do the de-install of the old equipment and install of the new equipment sent the old equipment back and Viasat lost it. I had tracking info and everything that I had to track down for them from the install company. They took me to collections anyway. After spending over 40 hours and 2 months trying to fix the issue with numerous csrs, they finally sent me documentation on June 1st, saying that they had waived the fees and that they would be in touch with the collections company - based out of Cleveland. I got home today (September 29th) and another collection letter was in the mail saying they wanted to settle up and reduced the $500 they wanted to charge me to half. I referred to the letter and now it will take another two weeks to get that approved. I have been with them for 10 years dating back to Wild Blue and Exede and they are treating me like Im a criminal. Why would anyone go from spending $60/month to $175/month with them and expect to get put into collections? Nevertheless, my equipment was so old, that the de-install team couldnt even believe it still worked. As a small business owner myself who believes in taking care of the customer and that the customer signs our paychecks, and also one who has never been in collections; it is clear to me that Viasat has gotten too big and therefore do not care about the people who have been with them and helped them grow. Dont believe a word they say. For a communications company, they are piss poor at best. The 2-year agreements are highway robbery and they should help recover some of my hard earned pay in trying to resolve this matter. I have never written a review in my life but - BUYER BEWARE - they dont even deserve 1 star. And, during peak hours their internet is absolute garbage, even if they are sending more data down the pipe.

False Advertising - Incompetent Company. 20 years with Comcast and my internet went down 3 times and even during the times when COVID usage was hammering the internet for everyone I was getting 150mb+ download for $80/month. I move to the mountains, sign up for Viasats highest speed unlimited plan close to $200/month because I work from home and it has gone down TWICE in 2 WEEKS. Instead of communicating the outage on their website to see via smart phone, you sit on hold with tech support for 1.5 hours and they pop on to verbally tell you yeah, you have an outage... it should be up within 24 HOURS. 24 hours? What year is this? Ever hear of the 99.999% uptime concept? Are you flying techs into the area from Guam?Download speeds are 10% of what I am paying for and it isnt even actually unlimited because they will throttle you to an unusable level during peak times once I reach 100gb which Im 75% through in the first 14 days. Well, I think Im at 75% at this point as I currently cant even login to my account because their website login service is down as usual as well. So, within the first 3 weeks of every month, I can forget about streaming anything in the evenings for entertainment. Even within my data limit, streaming still buffers for 30 seconds every 3-4 minutes on the 50mb plan most evenings which means Im only actually getting 2-3mb at most WITHOUT being throttled. Then their router is all flashy with bright blue lights and no way to turn them off in the settings. They installed the unit in my bedroom and it looks like Christmas. Even with the main light blocked with thick tape, the light streams out through the vent holes to the point that I could read a book next to it. I had to put it inside of a box which helps but because I cant close it or risk burning it out; it still isnt great. Techs addiction to bright blue LED lights is absurd.Someone needs to bring high quality internet in the Conifer area; satellite internet needs to go the way of the dodo.

This is a terribly run organization. From their reliability of service and customer service to their prices. I’ve spoke with many people there with little to no help from any of them, not one! Brent D is bar far the most unknowledgeable, rudest and uncommitted employee I’ve encountered. You just don’t swear at customers and then say things to appease them, all while not delivering on anything. I can tell through telephone conversations that he has little man syndrome. I’m sure he doesn’t wear the pants in his family. Shop somewhere else, for your own sanity.

I wish I could give less than one star. Horrible horrible service and customer service. I wish I looked at the rest of the terrible reviews before we purchased! They make it impossible to speak to someone at times and if you do get someone on the phone they are so rude. The service sucks..it barely works in one room in our small 1700 sq foot home. Please go with someone else!

I wish I could rate with 0 stars. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Use any other service, even if that is mere cellular tower service. Customer service NEVER HELPS and is condescending knowing that if you are using them that you have little or no other options. Even though we get snail speed service (IF any service at all) we are still told that we are out of our allotted and pay around $120/month for their best plan. In fact, I had to purchase 5 EXTRA GBs last month for an additional $50 (so monthly total $170) for the splotchiest, most unreliable service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We have been forced to use them for a few years now and honestly could not be more unhappy with them but literally have no other option. They purposely make you go through ineffective processes (unlplug, now plug in, try unplugging again, now plug in) until you get tired of dealing with them and then have the audacity to try and sell you other services like an obviously loaded plan for unlimited service calls for a low monthly fee.

Holy moly. Giving 2 stars because it worked most of the time. But if you rely upon internet for work DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT! Very intermittent service, and customer service is completely automated at the beginning. And it loops you all over the place. The only way to get a live person is to say cancel service. And then you are talking to an on off-shore service person reading from a script.Oh man, I am still on hold trying to cancel service to contest the early disconnection fee. I think they dumped me. This service borders on a scam situation. Buyer beware!

I got internet service with VIASAT about 3 months ago, and before doing so I made sure to ask questions about what I would and wouldnt be able to do as far as the speed goes. I had the second fastest package that cost 160 a month and the customer service agent I talked to when asked guarantee that my son will not have any problem playing games online, which was the only reason I was going with VIASAT instead of hugnet because they had told me that my son wouldnt be able to with their service. After getting the service, and of course signing a 2 year contract there was no way that my son could play any games online, and by the 15th of the month we were out of data which made the internet even slower. When I called about the issues I was told that their service cant support online gaming, that I had been missimformed but still they couldnt do anything for me so I was just stuck in a contract that didnt provide the service I needed. When I cancelled the service because it didnt make sense to keep something that cost 160 when I could get the same thing for $50 with hugnet, I ended up with a fee of $423 to pay to viasat as termination fee and because I terminated the service one day after the new billing cycle had started. I honestly wouldnt recommend this to anybody, as they will lie to you to get your business and just leave you hanging when issues comes up. Also I had to return the supplies one of which was in top of my shed within 30 days or be charged an extra $300 for that. When I called to ask that they extended that time because I am 8 months pregnant and cant climb, again I was told that they couldnt do anything about that. Its just been a horrible experience.

I had a salesman sell me the internet service and set an installation date of 9.12.19. They cancelled that date and 5 times after that until I told them to cancel my service totally, not wanting to deal with a company that isnt even organized enough to set dates and keep them. THEN I FIND THAT IN ADDITION TO THE $100 INSTALLATION FEE. THEY CHARGED MY ACCOUNT 3 ERRONEOUS CHARGES OF 68.56, 71.56 AND 71.74. IT TOOK ME 1 MONTH AND 15 CALLS TO GET MY MONEY BACK.

This is the worst service ever. If I could give them negative stars I would. The service is not at all what they claim it is, then they will hide behind terrible customer service and legal mumbo jumbo. Do not use this service. You will not be able to use any internet phone services, you cannot have any online gaming and we found out last night despite what they tell you, you will have trouble streaming video as well. See the attached photo from my TV. Even our regular internet functions are slower than they have ever been....what a joke.

When I asked to speak to tech support or have someone come check it they argued with me. Companies like thos need to be legally obligated to be truthful. I spoke with a sales rep for 40 minutes trying to find the package that worked best for me. I wanted something for Xbox live, Netflix the usual stuff people use internet for these days. I was told that the gold 50 would be perfect and that I was going to be thrilled. Hardly. The technician came out and he to was a little unsure as to why I got the bundle I he was installing that day. So I had the service 4 hours and things weren’t loading. So called customer service and complained. Problem “fixed”. Not even 24 hours into having service my Netflix was buffering constantly and there was no way to play Xbox of any kind. Long story short after having the service 4 days and after being charged 154.00 dollars (yes after 4 days they debited my account) i called and cancelled completely and after several supervisors I was told due to the experience I had my early termination fees would be waived which are 15.00 a month every month you don’t use their service in their two year contract. So I sent their equipment back and they then debited 475.35 out of my account one month later. All in all I was told what I wanted to hear the whole process and would absolutely not recommend to anyone for anything. Edit- December 3rd: After 37 phone calls on an average of 20-30 minutes per call and 7 supervisors I did get 283 dollars of my money back.

ViaSat was the worst customer service experience I have had in my seven decades on this earth. I live remotely, so scheduling a service call on short notice is not in the cards. But I have waited 5 months and finally disconnected my service. The first tech, had a flat tire in a mountain town and wasn’t sure he could make it before late afternoon on an 8-11 appointment. The second appointment I had to call repeatedly to schedule was for 1-4. At 6 PM, I called the dispatcher a second time and said I had not heard from the technician. “Neither have I” was his response. The technician called about 7 to say he doubted he would make it to us that day, having just arrived at the call scheduled before me and that was hours driving distance from me. ViaSat pays these guys $90 a call and overbooks them, planning on cancellations.I had a phone line w ViaSat that had not worked for the aforementioned 5 months. When I explained I needed a credit for that lack of service against my early cancellation fee of $25/month for the time I was short on the 2 year contract. The foreign call center employee I was speaking with said there was nothing he could do, that payment was nkw considered a prepayment. His supervisor echoed that same response.ViaSat’s business model provides no commitment for continued technical support to people they sell their internet services.

Viasat is indeed ripping their folks off. I spend 110 a month for their unlimited services, but their services are very limited. My kids go to a virtual academy, but due to the lie, perpetuated by viasat, they cant log on when the Virtual Academy requires them to log on. With that said, Im in contact with our attorneys in regards to Viasats deceptive practices and will be going forward with a lawsuit against them. In the mean time, if youre wanting to spend 110.00 a month on quality internet, do NOT use viasat!

Worst internet experience ever. Unfortunately it was the only option at the time because of where I lived. It was a mess from the start, when I tried to sign up initially the people I spoke with were incredibly rude and tried to trick me into paying more. Was able to sign up with someone else later. They didnt offer unlimited internet options which was unpleasant as a student having to monitor how much I was using so as to not run out before the month was up. The service was terrible and was so slow even with their fastest available plan. When I ended the service I was told I needed to go on the roof to remove something from the dish to return to them along with the modem or pay 100$ for them to do it or 150$ to leave it there. This was never mentioned when I started the service that I would expected to remove something from the satellite that was installed on my roof. Avoid this service!

And since we have multiple smart TVs, laptops, and terrible cell service, we got their best platinum package (that still has 150 GB data cap per month). If anyone knows anything about internet, the average user goes through that in about 3 days. Our internet is out more often than it works. Was switching from Hughes to ViaSat based on recommendation from a neighbor. Two weeks out the deal has yet to be completed. 3x visits from third party installers who never seem to have the parts needed. They seem to use this as an opportunity to upsell you and change your plan as the modem anyone has is an upcharge - very clever ! When all we want is the system promised this smacks of bait and switch. We will see what week 3 holds otherwise I cant believe it but Hughesnet never looked so good.

We used to have Hughesnet and Viasat (formerly Exede) is worlds better (except in one area, but I will get to that). When I got a mailer that said Viasat had unlimited plans, I was intrigued. It turns out that unlimited is not accurate. Up to 150gb youll have normal functioning service. After 150gb, it is basically unusable. Like literally, I could not even load my gmail in a web browser. You will likely find that 150gb limit is an urban legend with satellite. When you are not going over your data limit, it has been a lifesaver for us. We live in the foothills near Denver and we literally have no other option for internet. Viasat has made us feel normal. When youve gone from having 150 megabits per second to barely 25 AND you have data limits, you feel like youve stepped back in time. Nothing makes you feel like third world country than satellite. Dont get me wrong, we are GRATEFUL to have it. But here is where Viasat really flunks the test. At least with Hughesnet, if you went over your data cap, you could purchase additional blocks of data which means they unthrottle you. With viasat, you are out of luck. If you run out, youre out until the billing cycle starts over. At the moment of writing this, I am trying to download an 11mb training video. It is taking over 20 minutes, the network connection is lost and I have to restart the download over and over again. sigh....
