I had some new tires mounted and balanced here. They did a great job communicating with me as to when the tires arrived from tire rack and when to come in. They kept me updated about the when my car was being worked on and when it was ready to be picked up.On my way home, I heard a creaking noise, and they were nice enough to let me come back right as they were closing to drop off my car again. They were really helpful, looked into my concern thoroughly, and found nothing. I really appreciated their responsiveness to any concerns I had m and how they addressed them.

I am a new resident in Ellicott city, shortly after I moved here my mom got an apartment nearby. Newly on her own, I needed to find her a repair shop that would take care of her and that she could deal with. I was referred to this shop and Im so thankful. Neubauers is always able to deliver what they promise. A heat shield was hanging down beneath my car...they removed it while I waited. Since it was not an urgent repair, I came back first thing Monday morning, the part was reattached with minimal cost and I was on the road within the hour. I would highly recommend this Auto Repair company. Great people and great work.

We have had several good experiences at Neubauer’s but yesterday’s prompted me to write a public thank you...We took our car to Mr Tire to have a rotation and asked them to check our brakes and give us an oil change. They told us the oil change had been done but that we needed an alignment and new brakes. We paid for the oil change, declined further service and went straight Neubauer’s. We were worried because we were sending our daughter back to school 900 miles away and wanted her to be safe.Neubauer’s said that not only was our alignment was fine but so were our brakes! At no charge.When we got the car home, on a hunch, my husband checked the oil. It looked dark so he drove back to a Neubauer’s and asked them to check the oil. It had not been changed nor had the filter!!! They got us done right away.Thank goodness for Neubauer’s!! They saved us from sending our daughter away for 4 months in an unsafe vehicle!!

I cannot say enough good things about Matt and his staff at Neubauers. I own 4 cars and have come to him for everything from a nail in a tire to major work . They take the time to make a FAIR diagnosis and then completes the work in a timely manner. It is obvious the FAMILY aspect of this business has been passed down to the present. Great job. Had them install tires I purchased from Tire Rack. They are one of the two or three shops in the surrounding area that have touchless tire changers that dont scar the inside of your wheels. Had them do an alignment too. Excellent work - and Im knowledgeable and picky.

I made an appointment for an oil change for 8:00 a.m. I was 15 minutes early but the maintenance work was not done until 10:20. Why is making an appointment necessary since you are not fitted in that time slot? Also I requested 38 pound of air pressure in the tires and after the car was returned to me I noticed the air pressure was not checked (it was corrected, though).

Mat and his mechanics were helpful and friendly. Repairs were fast and efficient. Would totally recommend this shop.

I have been a customer of Neubauers for a few years now, and, I have been thoroughly satisfied with the quality of workmanship. I will not consider going to other auto repair facilities. Neubauers always stands behind their work, which is important to me. They are more then just a business to me. They are like good neighbors, people you enjoy seeing and doing business with. Auto repair IS NOT an exact science. The older a vehicle gets, the more parts wear out which can trigger a chain of events, making it difficult to sift through to the failure. This is something I do understand. I am willing to pay the extra money to have repairs done right, which is something that Neubauers does.

I went to get my car MD sate inspected, and I was lied to, I had no problem paying for the service but after finding out why my car failed I then took it to another place an actual dealership they did another inspection only to find out not only did my car pass, the $500 problem with my car wasnt an issue at all, Im glad I got a second opinion and didnt get dooped by the mechanic there, very disappointing and misleading, just sad.

Only regret is that I waited so long to find Neubauers! They were very transparent and honest. I feel confident that I walked out with great service and quality work. They came as a top recommendation by over 30 neighbors and I can certainly see why! Go!

Matt & the crew here at Neubauers really took care of me. They tackled a very difficult CEL(Check Engine Light) issue, that dealt with fuel/evaporative issues on my 2000 Toyota Avalon. They replaced numerous components but that didnt stop the CEL from coming on, twice! At first I was pretty annoyed, but then Matt & crew discovered the real culprit of the problem - a leaking/rusty fuel fill-neck! In all I had paid for two visits, for the repairs, but those didnt alleviate the issue. On the 3rd visit, the actual culprit was fixed, and fixed for FREE. I will be a life-long customer here! The car almost has 800 miles since the repair, and no more CEL! Thank you Neubauer!

My sons car made a horrible knocking sound... textbook rod knock...and we feared the engine was done. They did a thorough inspection, diagnosed the problem, took care of it, and we left 2 days later with everything running fine. Ive never been happier to spend $300. Also identified one other issue, gave us an estimate, and made it clear we had time before we needed to take care of it. That allows us to watch it. Ill definitely take it back for that repair, and anything else I cant do myself. I highly recommend this shop .

This place is outstanding my wife had problems with her lights, front headlight, rear turn signal, 3rd brake light, and the cig outlet thingy. I replaced countless lights and tried to do it myself. However when it comes to cars leave it to the experts. Neubauers Auto Repair I highly recommend. They had my car in on Thursday and back on road by Tuesday. They called me and kept me posted on pricing, my wife asked me to look at the junk yards but they said they already did and gave the cheap price for the fix and the more expensive price, I took the one in the middle. They have experience with all makes and models, for a reasonable price. I just ran over a piece of sheet metal they told me what I needed to do to get the warranty and boom it was like magic. My tires are smaller so it took 1 day to get it in and I was mobile again. I didnt even buy my tire from them and they are taking care of it so I dont have to buy another brand new tire. (tire was only 5 months old.)

Had them replace the shocks and struts on my car. After they did this, there was a noticeable squeak from one of the struts. Took it back, and they ended up oiling the squeaky strut. BIG RED FLAG! Ive been a gear head for 40 years, and Ive never heard of oiling a squeaky strut! I have never seen this procedure mentioned in any maintenance manual! Problem returned after a couple of days. I had no chance to take the car back to them, and had no confidence they would find the cause anyway since their last attempt was clearly bogus. I changed the strut myself a year later. Good thing I did! The strut piston had a gouge more than half way through its diameter, and the mounting hole it goes through was oval instead of a circle! The only possible explanation was that the nut holding the piston in place was not tight from the beginning. Took the old parts back to Neubauers to show them, and they just gave me a big run around and lots of flaky, half-baked excuses. They still insisted that oiling the strut was the right thing to do! I rate Neubauers marginally competent at best. I will not use them again.

A horrible experience, They dont care for the business. The young lady, I think owners daughter (at least she acts like that). She needs some customer service classes. I dropped off my car in the morning, my car was not even looked at entire day. When I called in the evening, she responded they cant look at it today, they are busy, thats all she said, nothing else. I was trying to find out if they could look at it later that day and her response was just No. Dont expect sorry or apology, her response was very rude and she asked me to pick up the car. When I picked up the car, she just gave back the key without a proper greeting or asking for rescheduling an appointment or any apology. It was like she didnt even care for the business. I agree, this auto shop might have earned reputation in the past, but the present/future generation doesnt care for it. I hope the owner see this review and have a chat with the young lady. I DO NOT recommend this auto repair at all.

Bought tires from tire rack and had them installed here. I got them mounted, balanced and an alignment done. Price was good and they use the road force balancer which is the best. They were friendly and didnt try to push any excess services. Only negative was that I was told I could show up anytime to have it done and when I showed up at 730 I was told the techs dont usually get there until 8. Not a huge deal to wait an extra half hour, but I am noting it here for others. Would use again for tires.

After taking my Chevy Trail Blazer to the dealer at least 3 times in the past 2 years and to an auto shop Nuebauers was the only place that fixed my SUV. I was told that rear traction was fine even though the vehicle stalled in dangerous situations and the grinding of the brakes was just the a computer misreading. Not true at all. And I was told for 2 years that it was safe to drive .Neubauers fixed both of the problems plus did an oil change and was able to get the check engine light to off which was most likely due to the oil pressure. They were kind enough to tell me that I might need some new belts soon, but not right now. I will be calling to follow up with that so I can stay on top of it.I paid the dealership more money and they didnt even fix the problem nor did the other auto shop. Amazing to me.Thank you Neibauers, I feel like Im driving a new vehicle, but most of all I feel safe. I would definitely recommend you all to anyone that needs car repairs done.😊

I went to Neubaurer’s because I had to ... they were the closest garage to my work and my truck was dying FAST!! I am so glad I did!! They were very friendly on the phone and explained everything thing to me where ai could actually understand what they were talking about. I will continue to use Neubauer’s forever!

Expensive - they quoted me $350 for a windshield, which I found for $185 nearby. Also charged me twice for inspection (within the 30-day window) - $35 to confirm that my control arm was good after I already paid $80 for inspection. $35 for 5 minutes of work is not reasonable, especially after Im already paying them for the inspection plus a $100 alignment. I would like to see more professional courtesy in this kind of situation.The alignment they did was ok but it pulls a bit to the left still; they got it done quickly.

Matt and all the staff take carer of all our automotive service needs. Thankful they are local to Ellicott City it makes all aspects of car service much easier.

Took my van into this place and explained to them that something was wrong with the brakes. Their was way too much free play in the pedal and was concerned that the brakes would fail. After a week in their they told me that the breaks were fine and charged me $60. I complained to no avail. I took the van to a real mechanic at Caton Auto and he said that the brakes were NOT fine and could be dangerous. A leak was found in a corroded area and fixed but I am still out $60. Maybe they can use my $60 to buy there mechanic some glasses!

I brought my 2009 Colorado truck in for two new tires on Mondaymorning July 30. In addition, some engine warning lights were lit and Matt and team looked into them. He thought they might be sensors. So,one sensor was replaced but did not solve the problem, so we agreed that we would wait to see how the truck ran prior to perhaps replacing the fuel tank sensor, since a lot of work was required to replace it.The truck has run poorly since and came close to breaking down on route 100 today. We also asked twice to have the spare tire replaced under the truck where it usually sets. The tire remains in my truck bed. After having the truck for 5 days I was expecting a bit more. Disappointed.

Excellent, local car repair shop that offers honest service

My Lexus hybrid would not start. I called my dealership I had been going to for more than 10 years to see they can help me to figure out why my car would not start after I was sitting in it for 1 hr, waiting for my son. Their only advice was call a tow truck. I called Matt at neubauers who told me that even though it was a hybrid, it has the same battery. Some how I got the car started. They told me to bring it right in. Originally they told me that the battery was shot and i need to replace it. When I came to pick it up, they told me that it just needed a charge and that there was no cost! They were so helpful and honest! Even though I have been taking my Lexus to the dealership for 10 years, I am changing to neubauers!

As always, I felt confident that Neubauers recommendations were appropriate.

Been going to Neubauers for almost 5 years. Had 2 separate cars serviced by them. From my oil changes to brakes to calipers and rotors being replaced. As a Mom and Pop shop they certainly have a better relationship than most dealers or mass produced chain retailers. Ive never received anything less than amazing service. Ive dealt with all the technicians in the back and theyre so friendly. Really impressed with the cleanliness of my car after they work on it. No oil or sticky residue inside that Ive gotten from other places when I cant get to Neubauers.Front desk is always friendly. Chelsea and Matt and Sarah are very attentive. I never have more than a 10 minute wait. Chelsea even stayed an hour past closing so I could pick up my car after hours. So grateful for that !!!! I reccomend them to EVERYONE!!

See my BBB rating I just reviewed 6/4/2017.. Beware! In 2 years they cost me over $5000 to be exact $5216.14. My mileage was 121,689 in Feb 2014 when I started taking it there. My boyfriend and his kids were taking their cars there. My last service with them in August 2016 was 132,226, just over $10,000 miles or averaging about 5,000 miles per year. They Charged twice for brakes and said the most recent one in 3/2016 was due to the calipers wearing so 2014 cost $1596 and then March 2016 $2400+, and an AC Evacuate & Recharge Aug 2016 that charged me $523 to not fix cold air to blow out. I had called Matt to state that the costs seemed high and when I got home to find out I had just had the brakes replaced in 2014 by them, nothing to say and didnt credit any part of the charges. I actually got a follow up customer survey call from them; and told them I was disappointed, and she said the owner would call me. Never did. My mistake I went back as Matt and Sarah seemed so honest and trustworthy that was my last visit. $523 for an AC Evacuate and Recharge. After that service; still no cold air blowing out of my AC. My husband now; realized the same thing they overcharged for the same services after I started really looking at my invoices and has stopped taking his car there. I now am checking reviews and getting multiple estimates. Well I decided on Merchants there AC diagnostic cost $119.99 and only charged me for half the cost for the labor time. They found within less than 30 minutes; that the belt was missing so there was no belt. How did Neubauers not find this and charged me 3 times as much not to fix the AC. I am writing this review as the owner never followed up and did not call me back nor did they credit me for charging me twice for essentially same services in 2 years, aside from the calipers which cost me somehow $2400. Jim at Merchants store 7310 was very upfront and we went through the prices and he sent me an itemized list before I agreed to have them start the work. There was a slight extra cost ($32) as the Freon that Neubauers replaced in August 2016, there was no Freon. I am writing this to save other customers money and to find a reliable auto repair shop.

When we reviewed the law and manufacturers specifications they realized they made several mistakes, and gave me my money back, but never admitted fault nor said theyd make improvements.* Below I go into technical specifics *Specifically, they said I had undersized rotors. When the rotors were in spec. They failed a CV shaft because it was greasy (not leaking just as smudge of grease on it). They passed a different half shaft that was broken. They passed the lower motor mount that was torn. They failed the motor because it was too greasy, and said please degrease the motor so we can see if its dripping on the exhaust. Again this degreasing was not needed as the exhaust and everything withing 8 of the exhaust was dry as a bone.When we discussed all of the errors, the mechanic who did the work gave the excuse of we dont have time to check the car thoroughly and If I suspect there may be a problem Ill fail the part. This quick and dirty method resulted in several parts failing that were perfectly good, and several passing that were bad.Now Im mechanically astute, have had many many cars inspected, and Ive never seen such a poor quality inspection. I bought several hundred dollars of parts that I didnt need and replaced several parts unnecessarily. If I were like most people and had a shop do the repairs it would have cost me $1,000 - $2,000 in unneeded repairs - and Id still be driving around with a dangerous CV shaft and broken motor mount.* More specifically *If I were reading this review Id be skeptical. Is the reviewer really astute? How do I know they were right and the shop was wrong? OK, Ill lay out more detail so if youre still interested you can keep reading and know.Rotors.Front rotors were failed because a 2002 Volvo XC70 with 16 wheels has an original manufacturers minimum thickness of 24.5mm (0.965). My car measured at 0.958 which is under that specification and based on that they failed the rotors. Those rotors have stamped on them Min Thk 23mm, which is 0.906. The stat law states that rotors must meat either the original manufacturers specification or the specification stamped on the part. These rotors not only meet the specifications stamped on the part but 0.052 is almost 1/16 and well over 1mm of steel - which is a lot of material for a brake rotor, and clearly not a bad part. Their mistake in this case was they misread the law and only checked the original specs from Volvo.Front left CV shaft.This part they failed and said the boot is torn and slinging grease everywhere. When I went to do the repair I noticed that the boot was completely intact. There were no visible defects of any kind. Nor rips, holes, tears, not even grease at the ends of the boots. There was less than a finger full of grease between two of the folds of the boot. It looked for all the world like the guy who put it in got a little grease on the boot when he installed it. When I asked them about it they said, If I see grease I fail it. For the amount I get paid I dont have time to check it out more. The state law says you need to fail a CV boot if it fails to contain grease. In this case no leak or failure to contain grease can be found. They finally said if I see grease I need to fail it, because even if I cant see it, I cant be sure there isnt a leak.Rear left CV shaft.This part passed but was very very bad. This shaft made a thump-thump-thump noise at speed. When you inspect the shaft you can move the shaft radially about 1/4 with respect to the outer CV joint. When I removed the part it fell in two and a couple tablespoons of dirt fell out of the boot. They passed this and in their defense said, if theres no grease on the outside how are we to know its bad. The answer is, you have to touch the part to see if its bad. And the whole time despite seeing the bad part, they never admitted fault.
