I donated clothing. There were a couple of volunteers sorting and labeling articles. It was tidy and organized. I had to visit twice, as they only take clothing donations on Tuesdsys and Thursdays. This information is not on their website.

It is truly a wonderful place An Oasis especially under the financial circumstances Im faced with due to Covid-19. The staff is extremely courteous you can expect a return phone call 100%.The items include meats & poultry, milk, deserts, sauces, cut salad mix, water, can foods mostly tomatoes, etc.Then why only 3 stars. However, not all of the food contents will be to ones liking as it is not catering to ones likes, but rather consist of, what hey have is what you get. Nonetheless, you can return what you cant use before walking away But sometimes that could also mean you are left with 25% to take. Abundance of bread that cannot be consumed before it becomes moldy. By returning some you are down 50% of the items. Which means running out of food before time is not uncommon. Offered only 1x per month. Im sure under certain limitations they will not send you back. But thats up to them. Thank you food bank and assistants for being there in difficult times. Keep up the good work. Sharing food is highly rewarding.

I recently was helping an elderly neighbor and went to Elk Food Bank where they seem to be very calculated on what they give out to people. She was given a box of moldy bread,moldy cake, hard stale cookies and old/rotten vegetables. Where as seeing others load their cars with shopping carts full of fresh produce and choice items. It seem to be that not everyone gets the same treatment. A place is only as good as their honest employees/volunteers. The intentions are there, the all are equal concept is missing.

I wouldnt make it thru the month without them. Get some interesting stuff especially from Trader Joes. Good basics, a little too much bread but some is very good, healthy. Fresh produce, even eggs and milk sometimes. Usually a meat of some kind. Friendly people and even flowers. And the sweets, dont even look if youre diabetic or someone like me who can gain weight just looking. Thank God for the helping hand. Some months its either food or medicine. Food bank makes it easier.

Each and every person who volunteers here are incredible. They offer the community often high end and healthy foods that are often organic. They also have a clothes closet .

Its a food bank. Why dont food banks let people get what they need? Instead they spend a lot of time filling out paperwork putting people in categories. I am certain Americans cant be trusted to take just what they need especially since its free so theres a serious issue. Yet I havent herd of such an option. Its important to imagine if given the opportunity to take only what we need Americans would do the right thing. Everyone on the planet needs to imagine that and believe it.

If you need it they do help. Pretty hit or miss on quality though. Usually have some fruits and veggies that you can have above what staples they give. Kosher friendly if you ask.

Fabulous. The people there are nice & friendly. Dont make you feel like youre getting a handout. Wide variety of food donations. Turkey at thanksgiving & Christmas with the trimmings. Plenty of fresh fruit & veggies. Ever see an orange colored cauliflower?

Expired food that isnt edible. Supposed to be 3 day food and you barely get one meal. They get great donations but stock them up until its garbage. Kick it up a notch. Would you eat that food??? I think not. Shame on you people.

This food bank has so much to offer, yet they act as if they were taking food out of their own fridge!!! I get needing the necessary paperwork in order to receive, but they wait until the produce is an hour from becoming rotten, flowers wilted,and have actually seen them scold and run after an adult woman for taking an extra cake. Theyre a high volume place,the city of El Grove will never let them run out of food, stop being so stingy and let the people eat!!! Fresh food at that!!!

Elk Grove food bank cares so much for the people who dont have any money to eat. They are open to feed the people 5 days a week. I donate clothes there. They are so nice and living!

Staff has always been very friendly and willing to help carry food from your car to the donation area. Seems like they have a lot of services to assist people. This obviously includes food but also includes clothing. They can always use more donations, especially as we head into the holiday season.

People in the 95828 zip code can only receive food from Impact Church now and only on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and only for a short window of time? Cool, I only need help at the end of the month so instead of being able to go in whenever I need help or on a day that fits our schedule we dont get help unless we want to drive downtown to River City fb. I guess its a great place to go if you live in any zip code that isnt 95828....

I was surprised, this food bank was not very generous. For 2 people they only gave us 1 of each item ~ 1 can green beans, 1 can corn, 1 can tuna, 1 can Spam, 1 Mac & Cheese, 1 peanut butter, etc. The rest was heavy on bread and light on substance.Maybe if you could visit more than once a month...

Able to help with many services. Elk Grove food bank does so much for this community. If they cant help, they give you resources and contacts for organizations that can. They have done so much cor me and my family.
