Best Summer Camp Ever! My oldest son grew up in the program and is now a counselor. My younger son is a few years in and loves it. Its a great price, they keep the kids BUSY, and they usually go on field trip once a week.
Today was the last day for 7 weeks of swim lessons for my 5&7 year old. On the last day they are supposed to get swim report cards on how they are doing, to let them know if they will be moving up or staying in same class. When my 5 year olds class was handing them out the swim instructor said I don’t have one for her only for everyone else in the class. The swim instructor became their teacher the last two classes and said she would not do one on my daughter and former instructor didn’t leave any notes, however all the other girls in the class parents got a report card for their child. Then my 7 year old class ends I go up to instructor and ask for her swim report card and he says. “I didn’t give you one? Oh wait I guess I filled one out for everyone but your daughter. I am teaching a class right now so you will have to wait for me to finish to fill that out.” I’m sorry I am not sitting around another half hour to wait for something you should have already had done. I am so done with this place. They are so unorganized, the swim instructors quit constantly so you never know who will be teaching your child. I immediately contacted Centre of Elgin to get my daughters signed up to continue swim lessons there starting in October. Never giving this place a dime again!
Shouldve let this place close down. It may seem fine but inside the equipment is out of date, their roof is falling apart and leaking constantly, there never seems to be anyone in management who can take a suggestion or even the smallest amount of feedback. Everything changed when management changed and now its all about the money. Young Mens Christian Association... yeah right. No morals and no values. Its all about the money. Nobody seems to know what theyre doing and I dont blame the staff but the horrible training from their management team. Theres no unity and theres nothing redeemable about this place. Go to the center of elgin instead
I just signed up for swim classes yesterday morning. There was a hiccup because it was last minute but the staff was SO ACCOMMODATING & KIND.It’s our first time here & I LOVE IT!Keep up the great work swim teachers!
This Y says on their website that they do nationwide reciprocity, but they do not actually do that. So if you’re visiting the area expect to be turned away. They should update their website.
Covid19 is a bummer im only in town for a few days my son wanted to play ball but due to covid there are no more day passes for purchase you have to buy a membership. Dosent make too much sense to me. But ok😒
The rec center is better and cheaper, and the manager makes you come in to cancel your membership.
STAY AWAY!!!!If I could give negative starts I would!!I had the locker I used (with a lock used) bent up and my wallet stolen, clothes in thrown in a shower. No one heard a thing, no one checks or cleans the locker rooms. The staff at desk are unfriendly, untrained and I had to direct them what to do. Poor leadership for sure!!!This Y is unclean, poorly run by the director. Water issues, unsafe The Zumba teacher is unprofessional and is allowed to do what ever she wants in evening, any issue is never taken care of.They seem inept at any customer service. position, unable to effectively communicate.STAY AWAY!!! Pick another gym/ workout facility!!There are no Christian values used at here!!!
Nice staff, helped setup quickly and variety of equipment. Would highly recommend!
Staff are friendly and welcoming. Always seems to be busy. This is a great place to workout, and enjoy a sense of community.
Good place
The staff here are Far from belonging to a “Christian” Organization.
Absolutely great! So clean and the pool was exquisite!!
Great service! And all the people are so nice
Not good! Bad temp control, equipment not good
My sister and I both bring our kids here on the weekends. We can work out, the kids can haev a great time playing and its always a safe environment.
Still as amazing as I remember!
I went to the YMCA with a friend yesterday. She had a guest pass, and I was shocked by the poor conditions. First, I had to fill out way too much paperwork in order to be a guest. Then, I went to the gym to workout. I felt like I was in a dungeon. The gym had no windows that I know of, and the air was damp. The treadmill seemed to not be in the best of condition as well. I think its time for them to upgrade their equipment. I then played basketball on their half-court. I grabbed a basketball from their cage. I had to go through at least 5 different balls in order to find one inflated enough to bounce. That wasnt the main issue with the basketballs. They were so used, the balls were pocketing air. If the balls were bounced, it wouldnt bounce right back up to me. I could give more criticism, but I would like for people to read my post. Staff is friendly but you should see for yourself.
Staff is great. Very responsive and truly cares
Good average YMCA. Really nice sweet bro and machines however fairly small gymnasium that is significantly less that an full size court.
Great to walk the outside track this morning
Great place to workout at! The staff is really friendly. Lots of variety when it comes to weight and cardio machines.
Good YMCA. I miss the downtown ymca that was awesome.
Excellent place
Made me buff
Sorry place after trying to renovate the place. Little equipment and staff not to mention 👎
They offer childcare, and the only day I go to my son. Ill see it and they tell me they cant take care of it because they dont have enough staff. I am paying for that and then?
