I normally give 4 star for good service but these people are so great that it has to be more than 5 star, start from the time you get inside the place and by the time you leave, everyone will just be happy there. i had some work and they even did not charge me because it needed a second check so they let me go - free service in this world with smile. this is great service.Keep it up guys and the lady in charge. very professional.

Googled Jims Garage. Got the following Jims Towing & Automotive can meet al your Volkswagen Repair and Maintenance Needs. My Volkswagen was in their shop for 3 weeks. Jims Garage did not have the equipment to program my VW. After 3 weeks they could not fix it. When I asked for work to stop, they wanted to keep working on it. I asked 5 times for them to stop. They would not, and wanted to bring someone else in to reprogram the car a second time. The person they called could not make it that day. So they agreed to take my car somewhere else. By then it was going on 4 weeks. They had car somewhere else. I paid for parts only. Another shop wrote the following UPON INTIAL INSPECTION FOUND HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP TIMING WAS INCORRECT A WELL AS CAMSHAFT TIMING. REMOVED TIMING BELT. USED THE TOOLS TO LOCK THE CAM AND PUMP IN PLACE AT TOP DEAD CENTER. REINSTALLED TIMING BELT. My experience with Daniel is that he is not 100% truthful, and not trustworthy. Daniel said it would take 3-5 days to get a High Pressure and Low pressure fuel pump. I called parts and was able to get it ordered ready to install in 2 days. Daniel also said he would call me in a day. I did not hear from him in three days. Please do not take a Volkswagen to this shop. I gave the benefit of the doubt to the shop and was sorry I did so.

I just want say that Mike had the most amazing customer service. He bare sure he explained everything to me in a way that I understood and he made sure that we were comfortable the entire ride back!!! He gets 5 plus stars 🌟 from me

My sisters pick-up was fixed there! They fixed it in good time n did a gr8 job! N the owner was a very friendly person who was very concerned about me,as I was sick n I had told my sister that I could drop n pick up the pickup (p.s. my sister is in sunny Florida) Ive never had a person, whom I didnt know, be so nice. He talked to my sister n told her I should be home resting! Everyone was nice,they were singing Mr.Rogers song!! N of course,the pickup is running gr8!!

They are incredibly nice people to do business with, straight forward and extremely fair with their pricing. Dropped off my vehicle the day before it was to be serviced. The next day my vehicle was not ready as it was promised. The microphone on my Bluetooth no longer works and there were grease stains on my tan leather and tan carpet. Called to let them know about the issues. I was yelled at and told they never make mistakes and never touch anything to do with my Bluetooth. And when I asked why it was working as I was pulling in to drop off my vehicle (I was actually talking with them) and when I left it no longer worked. I was told I would have to pay to have them look at. And the guy that did the work was using inappropriate language and yelling at me while at time did I use any inappropriate language or raise my voice.Nobody inside was wearing face masks or gloves and left me feeling very uncomfortable. I WILL NOT RETURN for any reasons.I have also had my vehicle looked at by another company, and yup they disconnected my Bluetooth.Horrible service

Keep your hair dresser close and your mechanic closer! I had the best experience ever! This shop is white glove clean, the customer service beat what you get at the big dealerships and they are HONEST!!!! Bob saved me a boat load of money and gave it to me strait. Hopkins Ford tried to pad their pockets thinking I was a weak female who falls for the line Maam, you need to replace the whole front end, and by the way, we can do it today and give you a ride to work. It will only cost you $680. Yeah right! How can a truck that cost $32,000 and is just 5 years old require that much work????? It doesnt! Bob, THANK YOU! You have a new customer, WHEN I need work and Im going to send everyone I know to your shop. Its really nice to know there are still a few honest men out there who arent trying to make a million bucks on the backs of hard working people. BLESS YOU!

Our car need service and they picked it up on a very busy snowy day! It was fixed when promised and very honest!!! So happy to have found them in the area...

I have to say that Im very disappointed. I took in my car in for a diagnosis and was told that my car needed a new speed sensor and that it would cost $160. They later called to inform me, that I was going to need a new bearing assembly and that it would cost an additional $300 for the part. I was told that this place was fair with their pricing. When I shopped for the part online, I found out that it actually cost between $90 to $130. I dont mind paying for good honest service but I dont appreciate being gauged. Ill have to try someone else next time.

Matt is the best tow truck driver! I actually request him when I need a tow. Jims towing & automotive are honest mechanics. Even when I have to go elsewhere I talk to Bob first to see what he thinks. I recently had to have a transmission so I asked Bob who he recommended. Bob is the owner & a very honest person. Once Sears mechanic told me I needed an alternator. I took my car to Bob. He tested my alternator. He said, you dont need an alternator. Shame on you Sears! Thanks, Bob ; )

I have brought my 2005 Honda Accord in a few times and have been very pleased with their service. They only repair what needs to be repaired compared to the dealer or some other shops that look to fix things that are not broken, to make a few extra bucks. Repairs have been done professionally and in quickly. Great place to keep an old car on the road longer, at a reasonable price.

I spoke with Daniel after my car had broke down and he knew exactly what the problem was from what I had described happened. The tow truck was there to pick us up within 5 minutes. Great service and very friendly staff, would highly recommend Jims towing if ever broken down..and it was fixed there too, on Saturday.

First and foremost, they do great work. Otherwise, who cares?Second, it is almost always done by the days end - no waiting around for days while the mechanic gets to it.Third, the price is always reasonable for the work done - Ive had friends and acquaintances ignore my advice and go elsewhere and pay double what Ive paid for the same work.Fourth, theyre honest. They dont do work that doesnt need doing, and if they tell you it needs fixing, it does.Ive been using Jims Towing for years, and I tell everybody I get the chance to tell: Take your vehicle to Jims I know that it sounds a little hokey, but you just dont find service like that very often, or at all.

Im new to the Elgin area, and hadnt yet found a mechanic. When my old Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo wouldnt start over Labor Day weekend, I suspected the starter and called around first thing Tuesday morning. Jims quoted a price much more reasonable than area competitors and picked up my car with their tow truck in 15 minutes. The work was completed by noon! When I picked up the car, the shop was filled with work and they were very busy, so I know it couldnt have been easy to fit me in. Jims did a great job on my Jeep, and Ill be bringing it in to them for future work and referring my friends and family. They made an inconvenient situation super easy to deal with - THANKS!

Renaelle(sorry if I misspelled) was amazing! There was no towing available through my provider in my area at the time so they ended up reaching out to Jims towing who was way out of my area. It did (understandably) take a while for them to get to me but Renaelle tried so hard to get someone out to me as soon as possible and she made sure to keep me updated. I really appreciate her efforts!

If I could give no stars I would. Put in wrong alternator and when belt fell off actually yelled at me and told me my car was junk and he would never work on it again. Nice way to treat a customer....

Great place that has 24hr tow and does automative quality work to your vehicle at a very fair price. They are able to diagnose your problem quick and get you back on the road same day! Friendly quality service that I highly recommend in the Elgin area for tows and/or automative work!

This place is great! Im 20 and dont no much about cars so I went to various place for estimates on a muffler fix. Other companies were charging me hundreds of dollars do replace various pieces. Jims towing took a look and said Its just a rusted out hole, we can patch that up. No need to replace the entire piece. They cut out the rust and welded a new piece into the spot and my car is so quiet now! They were honest, VERY friendly, did a great job, and saved me several hundred dollars; super highly recommended! Its THE quality mechanic shop that one always hopes to find.

Truly awesome service. Had a seized compressor and had to come back to Canada the next day. Called and they had me towed into the gargage within minutes. I got a call first thing in the morning to hear that my van was repaired and ready to be picked up. Very honest as well.

Do not use them. They will rip you off. They do not know how to properly operate a tow truck. Had damage done to my snow plow and they still charged me for not one but tow tow trucks. Idiots!!!

Quick arrival and very professional service

I have a feeling a lot of these reviews are fake because a lot of people I know have experienced extremely poor customer service here. I took my car in for a recall fix and was still out 300 sum dollars and a month later the problem occurred again this time he wanted to charge me and extra 600. I make good money so I could afford it but his attitude and condecending tone really turned me off to his service. I ended up getting the same fix for 200 cheaper at Streits Auto.

If I could give 0 stars I wouldIf you are ever looking for a shop to repar your vehicle, I strongly urge you to stay away from jims towing. One of our cars is on its 3rd power steering pump in under a year, all 3 installed by them. On this last time it had to be towed back, the serpentine belt snapped, taking the coolant lines with it, all caused from the 2nd power steering pump (they installed the wrong one by the way) from jims towing. Also on this last time they refused to pay for the coolant, hoses and serpentine belt because apparently the wrong pulley was on the power steering pump. youd think they would have found out it was the wrong pulley with the first power steering pump, it doesnt suprise me with these incompetent hacks. The owner was also extremely rude to my mother every time she came to drop the car off. In order to get the car fixed we had to have Scott T auto fix it (very nice man by the way, definitely recommend him) so please, if you are going to get a car repaired, avoid jims towing at all costs.
