Great place, great with teaching little kids

I go to this martial arts academy, and I really love the concept, you arent just learning a lot of techniques in one thing, they teach them to you one by one, and they teach you when and why we do them

Weve been at Tristar since 2006! I first chose Tristar because of their respectful, positive attitude towards their students and then found out that they are amazing trainers, leaders, and martial artists. Their staff and instructors are both skilled and friendly, and I appreciate their dedication to their students. I speak from experience as my son is currently a third degree black belt, I earned my first degree, my daughter an advanced brown belt, and my youngest is starting off and in her fifth month of training. What impresses me the most is they are always improving how they run things and how they teach. Watching my daughters classes, I still can learn something new every time!

Our son started at Tristar just over 3 years ago at the age of 4. He went through their entire program for little kids and is now enrolled in the regular program. I love the focus and confidence that training at Tristar has given him. I also deeply appreciate the respect for others they instill in their students. In addition, the safety training they go through in every lesson has been wonderful. I am confident that my son would know what to do should someone try to grab him.All of these things are wonderful, but the best thing about Tristar is the instructors and staff. They are fabulous and world-class. Not only do they know their stuff, but they are wonderful when it comes to engaging with the students and the parents. You know that they truly care about the students. Tristar isnt just a martial arts academy. Its a family, and my family is so blessed to be part of theirs.

Tristar Martial Arts Academy Eldersburg location offers a nice large clean facility with approachable knowledgeable staff. They are great with kids and adults alike. Tristar offers numerous class times for all levels. The community of students and staff is really positive. The Martial Art being taught is practical and effective. Tristar makes it very easy to start classes by being up front with all information and not intimidating.

Our four year old has been going to Tristar for a few months now and we LOVE it. The instructors are fabulous with the kids and my daughter has developed more self-discipline than I expected. We are so impressed with the life-skills they teach!!!

I have had nothing but a positive experience there. The staff are wonderful and helpful. My son has improved so much with behavior and has grown learning so much. The classes are wonderful and has taught myself and my son so much.

After 12 years of training the Tristar staff has become like a second family to me. They care about your training and seeing you succeed in all areas of you life not just martial arts. The staff is so kind and loving and gets to know each and every student and knows just exactly which each student needs in order for them to succeed.

Tristar has been a great experience for our family. My daughter really enjoys going to take classes here and has really stuck with it without any coaxing on our part which weve found with many other activities shes tried. The BJJ classes my son has gone to are fantastic, the instructor is amazing! Highly recommended.

My daughter is practicing here for last 4 years. They have very good infrastructure for learning karate skill and excellent instructors. The chief instructor at Eldersburg is very knowledgeable and friendly. He go out of way to accommodate candidate request for the make up classes and very helpful. The Staff and other instructors are very good as well and helpful.

Excellent instruction at all levels so far. My daughter loves it and was able to block my randomly aimed punches and kicks (at 3/4 speed) easily when I tried to see how far she had progressed. Very positive environment and respect is not only demanded by instructors, it is always returned in kind to the students. Very impressive!

Tristar has been amazing since we first made the call to sign up for classes. Their Little Ninja and Ninja Kid programs show 4-7 year olds how to focus, the basics of martial arts, and how to have fun, along with a real life learning lesson each class (meeting new people, stranger danger, introducing yourself, courtesy) These are amazing programs for young kids. The older kid and adult programs focus more on the art of martial arts and the focus, determination, and self control that goes into the art. All the instructors are trained and advancing themselves in the field and are great people to know and meet. Thank you Tristar for a great experience!

A great atmosphere and a whole lot of fun. The staff is full of energy and an eagerness to get everyone to learn. Plus theyre always doing interesting, creative extra activities. My son and I both love it.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this program, the staff of the wonderful things my 4 year old is learning during her time there every week. It is so much more than martial arts that is being taught to these children....focus, discipline, respect, confidence, what to do with bullies and what to do with strangers if they should try and grab them.....real life strategies that are incredibly age appropriate. Absolutely AMAZING and so glad I tripped on their Facebook deal a year ago!

Two of my children have earned Black Belts from Tristar Martial Arts, and my third child is on track to earn his this November. We love the Tristar program, and the focus on integrity along with the physical requirements. I recommend Tristar to all my friends. They are the best Dojo in town!

My just turned 5 year old has been going to Tristar for a full year. He absolutely loves it. He has so much fun while learning to be confident, to have self control, and myriad of other skills.

Tristar has introduced my son to a whole new world of confidence and self- discipline. He has learned that by keeping a positive attitude he can accomplish almost anything he sets his mind to. Although Tristar has helped him to develop many new skills in the martial arts, I can truly say I am impressed with the many positive personal qualities he has acquired. The instructors constantly model the behaviors and respect that we all would wish our children to display.

We started our 5-year old son at Tristar to learn the basics of self-defence. Right away, we were impressed with how well the instructors taught the childrens classes. They made the classes lots of fun while teaching the kids the different karate positions and moves. They went on to teach other important lessons such how to handle bullies and strangers and how to introduce yourself to other kids and people. I was so impressed that I decided to sign up and give it a try in the regular classes. After about 5 months, I enjoyed it somuch that I committed to their 3-year black belt program. If youre looking for a good karate school for your kids, or if youre an adult looking to try karate for the first time, Tristar is a great place to go.

My son has been taking karate with Tristar since he was a little ninja and just earned his Third Degree Black Belt. My son has grown in so many ways being apart of Tristar. The staff are awesome! We could never go anywhere else!

I had two children enrolled in their martial arts training program. I would always sit in the audience and watch them learn. It was the month of May where Tristar Martial Arts offered a promotion for mothers to train for free for the entire month. So my children harassed me to take that month of classes with the other mothers. I am so incredibly grateful that I listened to my children, because now, 8 years later, I am getting ready to test for my 2nd degree black belt ! How many mothers get to say that out loud. I am so grateful that I actually got out of the audience and onto the mat. I started out doing this for my children, but I realized that I was now doing something for myself. Mothers often loose themselves when they have children, but I made the best decision for myself!!

They really understood my kids and how to interact with them. I have twin boys but in class they were treated as individuals and each boy got the specific training that they needed. I highly recommend them!!!

Tristar Martial Arts Academy, is a FANTASTIC organization. The academy is extremely active in the community, has TOP-NOTCH instructors, and provides an AWESOME learning experience for both children and adults!

Tristar is an amazing dojo. Our family has actively been a member for for almost 8 years. They offer a proven curriculum to learn martial arts skills. They are family oriented and offer a safe atmosphere to learn. They are also closely inviolved in the local community.

The instructors are great with my children, both one on one and as a unit. My kids have become more focused and confident while learning essential self-defense skills.

I love it, its helped with my confidence, and made me less of a klutz, plus better hand eye coordination. Even though im a girl, i dont get treated differently because of it, which is a great thing. I love and thank all the instructors for the help they have given me through the years. And Ive made so many great friends as well.

My son has been training here for many years and is now a 1st degree black belt at the age of 12! They have a very comprehensive training program that allows for timely advancement through the belts. Tristar doesnt teach just self-defense though. They really focus on fostering a sense of community, building self-respect and respect for others, and providing real life solutions to common issues (i.e. how to respond to a bully). They also focus on self-discipline, responsibility, and promoting a true love of martial arts. The Tristar staff serve as strong role models and show people that the work they do outside of the dojo is just as important as the training they do inside. We love being part of the Tristar family!

OUTSTANDING instructors, caring staff, and excellent facility! They keep keep children (and adults) engaged while promoting attainable goals, instilling confidence and self discipline, and teaching skills that can be used on AND off the mat! My sons been involved for over 3 years and he still gets excited to go to class every time. Its improved his self discipline at home, but thats just one of the many positive changes Ive seen as his Mom that were influenced by TriStar! And It also has to be said that their special events are awesome! TriStar Rocks!!!

TriStar Martial Arts Academy is a Black Belt School that facilitates an exemplary environment of respect, discipline and fun for all who step into the dojo.

My son has been at Tristar for over a year. The staff is professional and very friendly. He and I both started their BJJ program with professor Ricardo Guerra. We have been to several different academies for BJJ programs and feel this ranks as one of the best experiences. I highly recommend this program if you are looking to train with a highly skilled and friendly instructor.

This place has been voted “best in Carroll County” for like a thousand years it would seem! (Ok, maybe closer to 20). But there’s a reason, and it’s not ballot stuffing. It’s because this place is amazing.My son (5 and a half) has been going to karate here since he turned 4. It takes real talent to connect with kids in a way that keeps them engaged, while also teaching them. This place does it better than I ever could have imagined. Plus they have periodic seminars that are truly amazing. Like the last one, teaching kids how to escape from locked trunks. So creative, and a useful skill (that hopefully they never need to use).Now onto their jiu jitsu offering. I saw a deal “3 classes for 5 dollars”, and thought why not. There are worse things to waste 5 dollars on. But it was far from a waste. I was big into boxing at the time, and within a month, I walked away from boxing in favor of jiu jitsu. The professor is beyond amazing. It was one of the 4 or 5 best choices in my life!

My sons started there when they were 5 yr & 8 yr olds. They love it! The instructors are Amazing! Sensei Benson is one of a kind. He is great with kids! You can tell the staff really cares about their students. We have since moved and are now at the Westminster Dojo but the experience remains the same. Highly Recommend!

My son is going on his third year at TriStar. What makes TriStar so great are the instructors and volunteers. The instructors make learning fun and enjoyable. They care about the kids. My son enjoys going to class every week. He has made some great friends too. TriStar not only teaches a martial art but teaches the kids discipline and confidence. Definitely recommend.

Professor Ricardo Guerra is a world class BJJ instructor, we are very fortunate to have his expertise in Carroll County. My husband has trained under his instruction for only a couple of months but has always felt welcomed, even while he was considering the class during a free two week trial period. His attention to detail is simply amazing and he is very strong at breaking a lesson down into digestible pieces for students at any level to understand. He is also very patient with his students and treats them professionally. He maintains a safe environment for his students to learn and practice BJJ. The Tristar Dojo is always clean and the staff are friendly.

Amazing learned to defend my self and how to take myself out of a situation without any fighting

My children have been training at the Eldersburg location for three years - and counting. I went there with the expectation that my children would learn how to be confident and able to defend themselves if necessary. I received that - and so much more.The younger students are taught to recognize and properly defend against bullies and strangers without making them afraid. The instructors also reinforce the core values that we teach our children at home: respect for yourself and others, honesty, kindness and compassion to name a few. They remind the young students how to introduce themselves to others and how to properly and politely greet people; a skill that does not come easily to some. My son, who used to hide behind me rather than engage with someone he didnt know, now easily walks up to another child and introduces himself. He is much more confident and self assured. My children have not only gained skills and confidence. They have all made a few very good friends through training.It is obvious that, to the staff, this is more than just a job. They truly care about the kids - and the parents too! Above and beyond the class instruction, they are there to offer advice, guidance and support when needed. I have seen instructors taking the extra time after class to talk with students in need of a little extra guidance on something (because sometimes parental advice just doesnt cut it). I have also seen them bring people together who they think can help each other with issues outside of the dojo.I am very thankful to have such a great group of people in my childrens lives. Not just as instructors, but as worthy role models.If youre not already convinced, drop by the dojo and see for yourself. You wont be disappointed.

Professor Ricardo Guerra teaches jiu-jitsu at the academy and its the best decision I made for training BJJ. His details on technique is amazing! If you want to try BJJ training with professor Guerra he is your best option in the area!

My son has been in there program since he was 4.5 years old and just got his first degree black belt in November 0f 2017 he has grown and matured over the years and all the instructor help the kids grow mentally as well as physically
