Windows 10 on my laptop got so corrupted that it wouldnt even boot, I would turn my computer on and just get a blank screen after Windows failed to start up. Tech Stars University was able to get my laptop up and running again without losing any data or files on my computer, and I got my laptop back just one day after I dropped it off! Outstanding, speedy service! Also, Anthony was very friendly, and gave me a very clear idea of about how long the repair might be, when I would get a call with an update on things, etc. All around, great experience with this place!

Brought my iPhone 11 here and got my screen replaced in about an hour, the guy was very nice. Had issues with the new screen but was able to get a refund. Great customer service!

I paid to get a phone screen fixed and I didn’t remember the password the guy was sketchy asking over and over for it then when I come back to get my phone the phone was disabled and they said it would be 50 dollars to recover my phone after I had already paid 110 dollars. So now I’m down 110 dollars and I still have a broken phone.

I was just looking to sell my old broken computer to tech stars and brought it in and Anthony here bought me computer from me; gave me a great price.Then that weekend he messaged me and said he could fix the computer for $600 less than the university was offering me. They said it was a motherboard issue, but when they looked at it here at tech stars they said they could fix it for $100. After fixing it they sold it back to me for the same price and only charged me the service fee!Super honest folks here and do really great work.

I went in to get my MacBook Pro fixed, it had a sticky keyboard. They were able to fix it to almost 100% but was eligible to get the keyboard and trackpad replaced by Apple for free so they arranged for that to happen at no extra cost. Friendly, responsive, knowledgeable service!

I originally was having my cell phone screen repaired to trade it in. After the repair was completed within hours, it is like a new phone again. Anthony is easy to chat with, up front about costs and skilled. Hopefully no more screen breakages, if so Tech Stars University is my repair place.

Had a update error where it became increasingly obvious I had to wipe my laptop’s drive. Came here looking to save my data - originally just needed to borrow a Thunderbolt cable, ended up having to let Tech Stars back up my laptop. While I only had 5 GB of old demos and photos I wanted to save, it cost me $80 to waste an hour trying to fix a problem, then another hour slowly backing up my data. I appreciate the courteous service, but am quite upset at the amount charged to save literally a small thumb drive’s worth of data. Moral of the story: back up all your data, even your laptop.

My laptop was freezing several times a day. Anthony spent many hours diagnosing, fixing and communicating with me about solving the issue. I also had a key on my keyboard that was malfunctioning. He fixed both of these problems at a reasonable price in a timely manner.

I wish I could give them 100 stars! I rebuilt a gaming computer that appeared to have died after its first use. I tried everything to fix it myself to no avail. After finding their website, I used the chat feature and got a hold of Anthony even though it was roughly 10PM on a Sunday. They were able to see me the next morning and had my computer for only 24 hours before solving the problem! I did not catch the technicians name but he probably saved me thousands of dollars. I would recommend this place to everyone!

I was very pleased that Tech Stars were able to recover the 3 1/2 years of photos that just seemed to vanish over Thanksgiving. It took longer that expected but I have an old system which was probably a contributing factor.

I brought an IPhone 5c in with a cracked screen in. Wasnt sure if they would be able to repair due to the age of the device. Screen was replaced as expected and also they tossed in a new speaker for the phone with no charge. I would highly recommend this place to others for any of your device needs!

Went in to have two iPhone screens replaced. Signs posted on the door about mask requirements, yet when I go in, the guy working doesnt have mask?! Nonetheless, he says about 2 hrs to complete the phones, which would have been 2pm. I finally got a call the next day after 4pm that my phones were done with no explanation why it took a day longer than promised.Response to owners comments: Yes I was at your buisness, Tech Stars on 7/11. You can choose to dispute that someone would have let me know if it was going to take a day longer, but I’m telling you nobody did.

I am so happy to have found Tech Stars to work on my Apple products. I’ve had really bad experiences at the other two repair places in Duluth, and I will never go back.The first time I came into Tech Stars, I brought in an iPad that a friend loaned me, and of course the screen went bad on my watch. Nick was very knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. He saved me from having to buy my friend a whole new iPad. I don’t understand all the conflicting reviews. I was there sometime after the first of the year 2020 before the Covid shut-down, and again today, Sept 26th 2020 and spoke with Anthony. Both experiences were positive. I will only use Tech Stars for my Apple products in the future! It sure beats having to drive to Minneapolis for repairs, or having to send my items through the mail for repair.

My wife and I were treated with respect, the service was same-day.

Not handycap accessible. Quoted an absurd price ($100) for a cellphone battery (internet price with shipping tax and installation tools ($20) when that was declined tried transparent scare tactic: phone explodes I think its a case of disrespect based on age.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. If you have a broken screen on any device they will try their best to try and find a replacement for you. Not only will they fix your device but they will also throughly test the device to make sure everything is as good as new when you get it back so its almost like having a brand new phone! Highly recommend this business!

Tech start of Duluth repaired my Macbook. It was a fairly complex job that involved a couple of different labs. They are very responsive and the service is great.

Tl;dr: I paid $250 dollars for them to not fix my computer.I dropped my computer off and was told it would be diagnosed for 100 dollars and fixed for 200 dollars. The person at the counter said he’d look at it the next day.I never heard anything and ended up having to call a week later. The person who answered the phone said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it and could possibly try buying a battery for an additional cost.They then called back half an hour later saying that everything was working fine.I drove to pick it up and was still expected to pay the 200 dollars when they hadn’t even diagnosed it as they had no idea what was wrong or what they did to fix it.Eventually talked him town to 150 but still feel extremely ripped off and never going back to a place with that kind of policy.Two days later my computer stopped charging again. I called Downtown Computer and they said I would most likely need to replace the battery, and asked for a diagnostic fee of $37.50, as apposed to the $100 dollars I wasted here.I keep updating this saga as I go along but it turns out it was just my charger that was broken. Tech Stars had my computer for a week, had two people take it apart, and told me I might need a new motherboard or battery. It took Downtown Computer 5 minutes to realize it was my charger, and they subtracted my diagnostic fee from the price of the charger.

Im with Metro PCS phone service and pay my bill with cash, my local store closed unable to pay my bill etc. Anyway I found out that Tech stars takes Metro payments. Covid-19 lockdown made me think tech stars would be closed, but I was at the grocery store and a young man passing out cards for techstars made my day. Letting me know I had assumed wrong. Tech Stars are really stars. I bought a sound bar and failed at installing it. Geek Squad’s phone was always busy or I gave up after 15 minutes waiting on the phone. I called Tech Stars University and they were here in a couple of hours and had my sound bar installed in 20 minutes

I had a great experience at Tech Stars. My phone screen was cracked badly and they fixed it in only an hour. It works great! It was also nice that they gave me a student discount, even though I dont attend a local college. I would definitely recommend coming here for all cell phone and computer repairs!

There are multiple other customers in your reviews in which you claim to have never done business with. So I knew that I would have to keep proof of business. I think its a shame that you cannot own up to your mistakes and would rather deny everything and point fingers. After I was royally screwed over by your business I sought other shops to try to fix the mistakes you had made on my cellphone. You guys are lying through your teeth. Feel free to call anyone who works at TechMedics. Ive never been employed there, and its funny that you would try to pull that. Pictures added below. Super manipulative policies that only benefit themselves. The manager was in the middle of something and didnt talk with me after his store had returned my phone in worse condition than I gave them. They shattered the back of my phone while trying to repair it (which they never repaired anything) and were going to make me pay for the replacement back unless they witnessed me write a positive review on google in their office. I am sure this is how they are receiving reviews that are anything above 1 star.The most MANIPULATIVE management and policies that royally screw over the customer. After ensuring me that they would refund me the part costs, they later refused to do so and pocketed almost $100 from me for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Looking back on previous one star reviews with people who have experienced similar treatment, I expect the manager/owner to come back with a defensive negative remark. If a place shatters the back of your phone due to lack of proper tools they typically accept liability and fix the part they broke at no charge to the customer. Ive used Techstars twice and they have done great work. They repaired my iPhone 6 in under an hour for a great price. They also built a custom PC for me using my parts. I dropped the parts off on a late Friday and they had it ready for me shortly after they opened Saturday.Great local small business!

I had two of my ipads for my family fixed and they worked great! However the seals obviously would never be like factory but my cases held it closed in the case they ever were to pop up, one of my ipads when I took it out of the case did have a little lift up where supposedly the cables to the screen were but nothing even bad, and I placed my case back on. I couldnt have been happier with price and their customer service compared to everywhere else I had been! Thanks GUYS! Ill be back!

Tech stars was very helpful when I came in. They answered all of my questions thoroughly, and were very fast with the overall repair!

They put a brand new hard drive in my parents totally non-functional 2009 iMac 27 and also completely cleaned out the interior. They had it done really fast, the price was fair, and the thing works basically like new now. They were so friendly and helpful that I also brought my 2012 Macbook Air in for a battery replacement. Overall, I was very satisfied with Tech Stars of Duluth and would highly recommend it to anybody suffering with dysfunctional apple products.

LIARS, SCAMMERS, and SCUMBAGSDO NOT GO HERE. I sent my laptop in to get fixed by these guys, they said it would take a month so I waited. Once the new part was installed it still didnt work so they said theyd try something else. I didnt hear from them until I called to see if they had fixed it yet, this was a MONTH later. They still didnt have it fixed and seemed like they had completely forgotten about it. I didnt get my laptop back until over TWO AND A HALF MONTHS had passed, and this was after I had to call in to check on the progress. If this isnt bad enough, they first tried to threaten and then sue me into paying more than we agreed on. VERY unprofessional business.Response (edit): dont lie, yes you do have a record. Or maybe you dont, and thats why you didnt even face me in court, because you know youre in the wrong. Unbelievable.DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, many of these five star reviews are from the owner (John Passolt), his family, and employees, which precludes the possibility of an unbiased review. They are inflating their rating instead of changing scummy business practices.

Horrible experience. First they broke my phone and I no longer can hear phone calls unless its on speaker. 2nd, he told me he would call me when the part came in to fix the ear speaker (its been a month and no call) and wants me to pay for it. 3rd, I can barely use my applications due to him putting in the screen wrong and causing my phone to have a ghost touch! Still waiting for that call any day sir!

Brought a phone with cracked screen in to be repaired. They replaced the screen but after repair was not level. The touch part also was not working (further evidence that the screen was not placed properly) and when pressing on the screen it broke again almost immediately (no--it was not dropped and there was no trauma to the phone -- I suspect it broke because it was not placed level after the repair). Less than a day later we returned, requesting help as the replaced screen was dysfunctional/still broken and Tech Stars refused because the screen was cracked. They insisted they charge us again for a new screen, in addition to the $130 we had spent not even 12 hours earlier. Difficult to deal with. Would go elsewhere.
