Due to the unfortunate ran in late June 2021, my sons car caught in the flooding waters at 2am in the morning. His car, along with other vehicles were moved to the median. We called AAA and had a 10 hour wait for a tow. We located an independent tow truck driver to retrieve the car before then. When we arrived, the car was gone! It wasnt even 24 hours. Called the MI State Police and was given the information to LIJBS Towing...it goes down hill from there. I called to inquire about the car and right off the bat they were rude!! They answered the phone, told me to hold on and didnt come back to the phone for several minutes. I could hear their conversation, because apparently, they dont know how to use the hold button or it was a cell phone. I couldnt get all my questions answered before I was told, I cant see about it today, I would have to come on Monday, which was two day later. That means storage fees, which was $20 a day. The storage fees werent the issue, the issue was the horrendous amount of extra fees and cost they added. It went from $60 to over $1,000!! How do you sleep at night LIJBS TOWING, knowing you are robbing people?!? I could understand if the car was there for days, but we went to get the car before 5pm!! If this is they way you do business, you need to close your doors immediately!! Cheating people WILL catch up to you...eventually...

Welp my car was there for 2 days even though I was told it was not yup took 2 days for someone to actually walk out there to see if my car was in the lot. They did take a day of storage off but still felt like someone should have looked sooner

My 5 star is to offset peoples wrongful attitudes. If this company LEGITIMATELY does something wrong by all means critique them, however just because you dont like towing rules and regulations doesnt mean bash a company. MOST companies charge $100-$150+ title if your car is totaled. MOST companies charge a gate fee to get your possessions out. MOST employees get paid commission, so if a company is only getting $150 out of a call that say takes 3 hours the driver makes $37 dollars at $12.33hr. Its business, until youre in it you wont understand or respect it.

They buzz you into a small entry foyer where you speak with a woman behind a Steel door. She said they had no one to retrieve my car from the yard, and I would have to come back in the afternoon. When I said that was impossible, she said we would be charged an extra day. I said that was grossly unfair since it wasnt my fault that they werent adequately staffed; her response was that life is unfair.

This company is fradulent they lie to customers in order to inflat prices. They told me my car wasnt there even though i had tracked it to their lot. I had the police tell me my car was there and they still refused me, finally i called and reported it stolen since they claimed to not have it. Oh and instanly not only was it there it was right up front. Last thing the price gouged during the flood disater in detroit charging peolpe as much as $800 for 1 day of storage

One big rip off! Try to avoid having your vehicle towed by them. They charge you $75 just to go into your vehicle to get something & they say that its a policy of Detroit police, not them!I was going to turn my vehicle over to them because it was totaled but they wanted me to pay a $150 towing fee on top of me signing my car over to them for NOTHING!The tow truck driver did a great job! He was there within 30 minutes. Thats the only reason they have two stars instead of one.

I would of given this place a zero if I could. The man behind the desk was angry and pounding his fist while speaking to me. I would like to know why I have to pay to collect my property from my car. The Michigan Attorney specify that a person I can collect their property for free the first time, and charge $ after that. I shall be filing a complain. Tis place deserve a minus for its service

Unfortuantly I was in an accident which totaled my car. The police use LIJBS to tow and keep my car. Althought the situation is not great, Jordan at the impound desk has been extremely helpful and so patient with me. I appericate her kindness and empathy during this extemely stressful ordeal.

The Worst Towing Experience Ever.... Literal Legal Car ThievesI had a rollover crash on the freeway, I wanted to call my insurance company to tow the vehicle. The state police convinced me to let this towing company take my vehicle. I was out of the hospital in an hour and went to retrieve my vehicle at which point they said it was 318 dollars before 4 pm. I got there at 3:00 the price was 360 plus taxes and it would have been over $400 and more money everyday after. Detroit is a poor city and this company deliberately does this because they know most people cant afford it which means theyll have to forfeit their vehicle. I was able to get my vehicle but I know people whove had their vehicles stolen and this company wants to charge several hundred dollars just for the person to see their vehicle after its been retrieved. Talk about victimizing the victim twice and they have they blessing of the courts and police departments to get away with this. This towing company is nothing more than the mob backed by the police to make money for the city. Needs to be closed or truly regulated because most of the cars and trucks on the lot belong to single moms who cant afford another costly bill, they lose their cars and have to catch the bus with children in dangerous conditions. Heartless, dont ever let this company tow anything for you. This company has legally taken lots of vehicles using shady tactics. Everything I stated here is facts

Unfortunately, my car was towed here after an accident. The staff is rude. My insurance company had already warned me prior to going to retrieve my items from them vehicle, that this place was a headache to work with. A headache is being kind. I pray I never have to deal with them again. Its unfortunate that Detroit police uses them for their tows.

Chase was extremely helpful and friendly. the Young lady in front office was not rude at all but very direct, which could be off-putting. the gentlemen. whom led me to my car were extremely sympathetic and helpful, but the other gentlemen were RUDE ASHELL! this made an already stressful and disheartening situation. a little MORE stressful. I really hope to never have to have dealings with this company if I can avoid it.

Lady was rude and even lied about me call her about my stole trailer. The police call me at 8pm Aug 5th. I spoke with her for the first time at 8:30am . I asked her want did I need to get my trailer. She told my the registration and my Id. I even asked if the trailer was able to towed home. When I get there. She claims she told I need 315 dollars. Plus she dont tell me that I need to send them text with me information. They had my trailer 4 days before they called me. The trailer was missing tire. They are ripping Detroit off ... Beware the lady that answer the phone will lie to you.....

I would honestly give this place ZERO stars if it was an option. Other than being extremely rude to me, my boyfriend, and to the collision center, they caused further damage to my car. They also left my keys in the car, making the battery die, yet said they couldn’t find keys to my car. They also had the nerve to completely ransack my car - leaving my glove box, trunk, and back seat a mess! They were never on time delivering my car to the collision center, making this process even longer and drawn out, and also made the insurance appraiser wait all day, just to have to come back another day. I would rather personally push my car to the collision shop, before ever letting this horrible joke of a company handle anything of mine!

They gave me the run around so much that I had to waste a trip, They told me what I needed I bring it then they said I needed to send them the info in a message or Email as he was pointing at a paper on the wall that said so. I asked why he didnt tell me that before I paid someone bring me all the way up here, he showed no remorse as he disregarded my question and went back into the building. Thank you! Michigan State Police called them after someone rear ended me on M10. They were to the scene quickly and had me on my way within an hour of the accident. They were very professional, quick, and brave while getting 4 undrivable cars off the freeway. Passerbys were not giving them room to do their job, but they still managed to get us off the freeway and to a safer location as quickly as possible. The next day, they spoke to me my and insurance company and got my car to the dealer before the dealer closed for the weekend at 5pm. I had a great experience with them, even in an unfortunate situation. Thank you Isaac!!

The customer service rep Chase was friendly and courteous. Sad they didnt tell me in advance about the 5% surcharge for using debit card. Add almost $23 to my final bill. Would have stopped at bank and picked up cash.

Our needs went unattended for an hour while others were helped behind us in line, misleading information over the phone was given to us, after service was paid we waited for monetary change and our vehicle for an extended time. The services are well overpriced. I was looking forward to a seatA simple transaction turned into days of back n forth.They need more hands, more clarity with customers.

When I picked up my vehicle over a hundred dollars was on the floor, as well as my son’s Gucci sunglasses and a new bottle of perfume. I am very grateful for their honesty and high morals of the staff, Omar told me he made sure everything was still there for me. Thank God!!

This kind lady told me that I would be able to return form the secretary of state (I left at 2:00) and would be able to pick up my vehicale. Now there is no problem with that what I have a problem with is the fact that the sign on the outside door says 8:00am until 7:00pm Mon-Friday. I did not know that they were closed until I drove all the way back up to the store. I then was told by the night service man that they do not open until 8:00 am until 5:00pm. When I arrived at 8:00 am the gentlemen told me that they would not be here until 8:30 am even though they are scheduled to open at 8:00am.

I dont normally do reviews, but I am compelled to write about the positive experience I had. After a crash on the Southfield, LIJBS was called by MSP to get my car moved. Its a weird car (Tesla Model 3) which required some specialized care and handling. LIJBS people were really professional and cared about what they were doing. I was really happy with their work and want to give credit where its due. Great job.

Very expensive. Those places have licenses to steal. You will feel like youve been robbed when you get out of there.

Left us sitting outside on the street for 4+ hours and wouldnt even let us get money out of the car for a hotel because they didnt give my car back. Dont bother calling the police in that area because they say they cant do anything about it.

I have to say this company was very professional, polite, patient, and and helpful to me when my car was impounded at their facility and their professional team guided me with the next steps I needed to take care of with my insurance company. If I could give them ZERO stars I would. Just like you see in many comments they are definitely illegally towing. Working close with the police in Detroit. They tow your car then hold it and don’t put it in the system so you have no clue if your car has been towed or not. This leaves you with only one choice and that’s to report it stolen. After a day or two they will “find” your car and you have to go pay a rediculous amount to get your car back. I hope and pray they get a lawsuit and crumble to the ground! Be careful and just pay the valet or the few bucks for parking inside the garage.

Terribly run business they are all incompetent, and I dont think one person knows how to drive a tow truck. They will steal your money and then threaten to not to give you your car, they are more worried about getting out at six when the sign clearly says they close at 7. I will be contacting a lawyer regarding this whole experience. I would gladly pay money so this doesnt happen to someone else, no one should be subjected to this level of inexperience and stupidity.

THEY ILLEGALLY TOWED MY CAR! Now they are trying to charge me $350. Friday night around 2:30am my tire went flat. My friend and I were going to pick up my client who I drive from and two work. So I called and text him to let him know. He caught an Uber and offered me an uber just Incase we couldn’t get home. So I had to wait for my aunt to get from work to go get the tire and to change out the flat tire, she got off around 5pm Friday and the tire place closed at 6pm. She made it 5:46 and the tire place is 10mins away so no go. So I went out Saturday afternoon. My car is gone. No glass or pieces so I know it was told but why. MI law is that the car has 48hrs before considered abandon. They said the state police had it towed and side it was abandoned. It has food Receipt in it from earlier That day from Taco Bell and churches chicken. No near 48hrs or even 24hrs when they towed it. It has my 8 month old daughter things in there. When I called the lady was rude. They towed it 14 miles away from my home when it was only 3 miles away. Not paying for that. Will be contacting everyone Monday. If they don’t tow my car to my house I will being suing.

I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and lack of information given. They twisted their rules around so that I had to wait an extra day to take my belongings out of my totaled car, required my Dads permission since it was registered in his name; I got him on the phone for verbal permission and they proceeded to say I must present a notarized letter from my Dad even after telling them he lived a few hours away. The entire ordeal was extremely unprofessional and a scam for more money.

Awful experience , customer service gave me a hard time and would not work with me to get my car released in a timely fashion. I literally had to stand for 5 minutes and stare at the receptionist as she purposely ignored me sitting on her phone before heading over. LIJBS towing are some of the biggest crooks in the city of Detroit. The owners are participating in fraud and illegal tows. Mik who represented hisself as a owner in LIJBS towing met me at DTW airport September 5, 2017 and paid me 6,000 cash to not expose the companies fraud once he gave me the documents I needed to prove my illegal tow took place. They stole over 15 vehicles from my property without my permission and without warrant. Once he gave me the money he is now refusing to give me the documents and proof I need to recover the remaining damages from the parties he stated were involved in the illegal tow on my private property. I will have my case filed in Wayne county district court by October 2017. I plan to take my story public so that anyone else who was a victim to Mike and LIJBS towings during the year of 2017 will be able to come forward with their proof of illegal tows conducted by this company.

My review is extra long because the issue of illegal towing fees by these predatory towing companies in the city of Detroit needs to be to called out.LIJBS is yet another unprofessional & unethical tow yard that makes their profits from ILLEGAL service fees charged to people that have had the misfortune of having their automobiles towed by DPD or other businesses that have towing contracts with LIJBS.After a bad auto accident, DPD requested an ambulance take me to ER for my injuries. I was unable to call my AAA service out to tow away my vehicle, so I agreed to have DPD tow my vehicle instead.The next morning, I was informed my car was towed to LIJBS yard. I quickly called LIJBS and asked how much it would cost to have a AAA approved tow truck retrieve my vehicle from thier yard. The rep quoted $305...I was like WTH!?! I asked the rep to break down the fees of the total cost. She stuttered, placed me on hold then came back and stated: Tow: $100, City of Detroit Administrative Fee: $175 & $15 a day storage fee...in my case, $30 for 2 days of storage even though my car was there less than 24 hours (they count calendar days). Then the rep tells me that I would also be accessed a $75 set-out fee on pick up...again, WTH!?!Not knowing what a set-out fee was, I asked the rep to explain. She said LIJBS charges a fee to set your vehicle on the street outside of their tow yard because NO tow trucks are allowed in the yard as LIJBS is a DPD tow yard. I told her that didnt make any sense and asked was there anyway to avoid this set-out fee if I used a AAA approved tow company. She stated that the AAA tow truck driver would have to provide 8 pieces of documentation + submit a Hold Harmless Form to them. Bet...No problem.The next day, AAA sent United Towing to pick up my vehicle. United Towing had all of the required paperwork & Mac @United Towing faxed over the Hold Harmless Form & LIJBS confirmed to me they received it. I paid $320 cash, retrieved my personal items from my vehicle & waited 30+ minutes to receive my receipt before I left to meet United Towing at the shop. 1.5 hrs later, I receive a call from United Towing stating that the driver was FINALLY on the way. The driver was late because LIJBS wouldnt let the United Towing driver in the yard even though LIJBS processed the Hold Harmless Form. After over an hour of repeated requests by United Towing to gain access to my vehicle in thier yard, LIJBS used a big fork Hi-Lo to put my car out on the railroad tracks outside of thier yard. Yet again, I was like WTH!?! Fifteen minutes later, United Towing arrived with my car in tow. Literally.After all was done, I sat down & checked my receipt from LIJBS. I was charged a $75 set out fee and the breakdown of the charges were not what was quoted to me the day before! The charges were: Tow: $125, City of Detroit Administrative Fee: $75, Storage Fee: $45 (3 days x $15) and a SET OUT FEE: 75!! This was my last WTH!?! moment because I wasnt about to allow these thieves to take my money like that.After researching online, I found an official document of the fees that DPD contracted tow yards are allowed to charge. Per that document, the fee for DPD contracted tow yards is:TOW FEE: $25 (added to the tow yards reasonable tow fee)CITY OF DETROIT ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: $75STORAGE FEE: $15 a dayAnything beyond that is not a contracted service fee w/the tow yards and SET OUT FEES ARE ILLEGAL!!I immediately called the DPD manager and made her aware of the issue. She called LIJBS & arranged for my $75 CASH refund to be authorized & picked up from LIJBS office. A couple days later, I went to the LIJBS office & picked up my cash refund. Rep took over 20 minutes to process my refund, no apology given for unprofessionalism then rep gave me an incorrect receipt which I requested to have corrected before I left. This place...ratchet as hell.LIJBS is a predatory, unprofessional, unethical racket that needs to be shut down & DPD needs to pull thier contract with the likes of these shysters ASAP!!

Fees are outrageous and you are unable to pick your car up after 530. No way of knowing that from their website and they are unreachable my phone as they rarely pick up. You end up getting charged for the extra day and the customer service is poor.

They told me in the phone that I owe them $260. By the time I arrived they told me that I owe them $75 more. They told me this cost is there because there was a second Truck sent to recover the car as my car was stuck in the driveway in the snow. Nothing to prove that. I called Detroit police and they told me that this towing company does that a lot and I should file a complaint. Unfortunately, most people dont know about those people until they go to pick up their cars from the lot. My advice to you is to watch for your belongings in the car and their hidden fees that they make up without any proof. Be prepared to be unhappy when you see your car because of their bad customer service and hidden fees. They will ruin your day.
