Purchased the geek squad protection plan and took in my HP specter laptop for repairs. Laptop was just over a year old and probably has less than 100 hours of on time. The keyboard was not working. It was returned a day later with the keyboard still not working. I returned to the store the following and day and asked if they even tested it. They took the laptop again and called me the following day stating it had water droplets in the keyboard and they couldnt fix it because the plan does not cover water damage. I asked if they took it apart and they told me no because they could see the water by looking at the keyboard from an angle. Of course they offered to show me new $2,000 laptops to replace it with. I took it to another shop in town who actually took it apart and said there was zero evidence of water damage; it just needed a new keyboard. $240 later and it works just fine. Do yourself a favor and find a real repair tech not a computer salesman.
Geek Squad is a joke and best buy outsources everything online and through phone out of the US. Cheaper for them. During Covid, no store will fix my broken screen and it takes hours to finally speak to a Philippine geek squad to tell me my only option is to buy another for 200$. Then they cant cancel my protection plan. Guess it isnt apart of their script.
I took a tv to get repaired they scrtached took months never got fixed went up there to get a new tv same tv and they charged me 40 dollars extra complained to supervisor and got nowhere he was also very rude
My computer crashed, which ended up making the Start Menu and taskbar not work, and every time Id click start, it would log me out. I called in, left my info, and got a call back within the day. I told the guy about my problem and he immediately recommended some solutions that one could do at home. Long story short, my computer is up and running again! Thank you.
