Hey guys if you find yourself down on the southern end Dallas looking for a place to play go over to Oak Cliff, off of Hampton in Redbird it’s The Golf Club of Dallas. Pretty old schools don’t I think they held a 1960 championship there. That being said, it’s a very welcoming course, it’s a fair course. It’s not super long all though it will give you a challenge if you do play the tips but it’s fair and there’s some good scores and times to be had out there. you can see from the pictures it’s wide fairways, and greens are are fair and true. They’re also happens to be a pretty big pecan tree out there that certified by arborist as being there and growing when the constitution was signed the plaques at the bottom of the tree it’s over on the sixth hole left-hand side. So do yourself a favor, go out there and give TGCD a shot, and you’ll be glad you. Y’all have a good day!

Shot my best game here! Locker rooms don’t appear to be much used and are in dire need of an update, but that kind of goes for the whole place to consider the membership.Course is pretty great condition though. The last two holes are pretty boring but I think they did a great job 1-16.

Old school golf course with tons of great trees! Seems something odd to admire in a golf course but I think it looks great especially with decent size fairways.

Played in a charity tournament and bought drinks from the beer cart girl. She didnt have change so she took my card and said a tab would be open at the bar. After my round of golf, I find out that no one has my card. The beer cart girl, the bar, or anyone in the club. They did find a receipt of charges with a signature that wasnt mine. Also, there were additional charges made on my card outside of club. Now Im having to cancel my card, put in a fraud claim to get my money back. Not sure what kind of people the place has working for them but they cant be trusted. This is unsatisfactory!

Not bad if you are a beginner trying to save the pain of losing balls. Extremely open, halfway decent to moderate condition, hard greens. It would be an okay 35 dollar course. Way over priced at 55.

I haven’t played this course in 2 years. Big disappointment. Surface of the Greens were hard, very little grass on them and painted green. Weeds were evident too. And then par 3 was reduced to 50 yards due to Workers digging a ditch. Weren’t told of the construction nor was Price reduced. New owners should stick to the church business.

The tee boxes were nice. Its a decent course other than the greens are very rough. Its very hard to make a putt they bounce all over the place. I would say its more of a $25 a weekend course. Including cart fee.

I went with my son for the first time, and we had a really good time walking 18 holes. I really like the layout, it is walker-friendly, and it is quite scenic. With the mature trees and landscape, it looks like a historic course that once was exclusive. The greens were reasonably fast and true, I had no problem adapting to them at all.We played in the afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised at the pace. My son and I are both avid golfers, and even walking we play 18 in about 3 hours if not blocked by others. The pace went very nicely, we hardly waited all day! This was a very enjoyable day, and I will definitely be back to this course. It is a bit of a drive for me, so wont go often but if I lived closer I would play it frequently. Great value, definitely a hidden gem in my opinion.

Previously a private club that has gone public. Course conditions are fairly challenging for the average golfer and as good as or better than other municipal courses in town. Green fees are reasonable and equipment is satisfactory. The clubhouse is a little tired and dated but the restaurant serves a decent meal and sandwiches for takeout. Its a very viable alternative for Stevens Park or Cedar Crest Golf Course.

The golf club has potential but it is in a good amount of disrepair. The restaurant is pretty decent, with a solid menu at reasonable prices. It is a nice choice for an area with limited choices. Maybe if they get the place fixed up and create a compelling value for social memberships, they can get the place back on track.

Went to this course for the first time yesterday morning. Check in and tee time went smoothly. Course was in fantastic shape and there were people working everywhere from the time i got there till the time i left going back and forth back and forth taking care of this course. Greens are small so be accurate, they roll true, not to slow not to fast.Tee boxes were perfect, fairways nice and green and cut perfect.like I said i saw people working round the clock and it really shows in the quality of this course. I am a novice golfer and this course really challenged me. I have absolutely no complaints and had a great time. Thank you golf club of dallas. And I will be back!!

Played today with my playing partners (two of my sons). We found the course to be in GREAT shape. The man behind the counter was courteous and efficient. The greens were in fine condition. Rolled very true if you hit it right. We have played there before and will come back, even though we have to drive 28 miles. The only suggestion I have would be to cut the rough just off the fairway a little shorter in order to speed up play. Also, for us old-timers, there is a lot of history here (Oak Cliff Country Club). I usually dont right reviews but thought this course deserved it.

Review №31

This is a good course not a great one.At a reduced price it is an excellent value. At full price it is an average value. It is about 8-10 miles south of Dallas on a major thoroughfare and easily found off the main highway. The course itself is very good for beginners - wide fairways, just the right amount of danger to add interest. The experienced golfer will hone their short game and shot placement. Bunkers have excellent soft white sand with good drainage. The course on May 7th was in good condition, though the ground was hard from lack of rain. Greens were fast again to lack of rain. The distance markers are ancient and inaccurate. There are no 150 yard markers in the fairways. There are big red, white, blue painted concrete circle in the middle of the fairway- not easy to find. Or painted lines on the cart paths again in red, white or blue - but not consistent. There are no restrooms / outhouses/ toilet facilities on the course except at the clubhouse. You will need a GPS and or range finder to know where you are AND the distances. The fairways are not well marked to provide a clue to the new visitor of the direction of play. The flags have prisms for laser range finders but we were never told of that signing in at the pro-shop.Carts are electric and new. No GPS on carts. No holder for a cooler. The grill gives you a plastic shopping bag to take to the cart. The driving range is short and is not marked for distances. They charge for a minute bag of range balls ($5 for about 25 balls). The pro shop is not friendly and not attuned to promoting the course for return visitors - lack of interest is the descriptor. Calling for a tee time, they are not interested. The locker rooms are in excellent condition. The restaurant /bar /grill is fair. With some renewed attention to customer service this would be a gem.

Absolutely dont play here. Take your $40 somewhere else. By the way, we had to rent clubs and were charged $45 per rental set and one set had R7s. Yes, more than the cost to play. The club house resembles a mid 70s funeral home at best.

We have come to enjoy this course very much. While its not the County Club it once was, its one of the best golf values in Dallas. Currently, the course is in above average condition w/ very good greens and adequate fairways. Phil and his staff always make us feel welcome and are very easy to work w/ getting tee times and scheduling. Wed recommend this course to anyone who enjoys a good challenge, a piece of Dallas golf history and a fun round of golf. Thanks to GCOD for the good work...................David G.

I played this golf course Easter weekend, 2016, and I couldnt be less impressed with the maintenance. Were at the end of March in a year with historic rainfalls, and somehow the course is dried out, dead and utterly miserable. This has historically been one of my favorite municipal golf courses in Dallas, but management is running this one into the ground. Would not play again unless convinced theres been significant upgrades.

This is a great course which I would recommend everyone play. The condition of the course was very good and the staff very friendly. The one thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is pace of play. We played on August 16, 2014 and it was a 5 hour round. The on course marshal mentioned to us that the group two groups in front of us was two holes behind but he did nothing to fix the problem. He said it was a group of members so I guess he is not permitted to have them skip a hole or let others play through. I will play again but only on a weekday as 5 hours is excessive.
