Great people but had to take transmission back because they didnt fix everything the first time after a full rebuild.

Took my truck up there recently to have a transmission rebuilt, and they did a great job. Its driving like new, and the price was very reasonable. Id recommend this place to anyone who needs vehicle work done.

I had a very unexpected leak without warning. After looking at my SUV Joe found a pin hole leak in my transmission line. Needless to say he fixed the problem for a very reasonable price.

Took my daughters car there because her check engine light was on and the code was coming back as a transmission issue. Transmissions By Joe located the issue and fixed it as quickly as they could. What nice people to work with. They repaired our older vehicle and did it professionally. Although the fix was pricey, we understood because they had to drop the transmission to get to the parts that needed to be fixed. Susan was so kind and really has compassion for we older folks. I just called to get an idea of what I needed for my transmission, Joe took the time to explain to me what he would like to see on my old trans and where it failed. He explained a common issue with my transmission type. All of this without the promise of me becoming a customer. Because of Joe taking time out of his day I will be bringing all my transmission business to him.

I will do my best to make a long story short. My a/c went out on my Mazda tribute and Jim Ellis WAS going to charge me $1800.00 saying I needed a new compressor and other things to make it right. I figured I should check around before making that decision. Lo and behold my transmission went out a couple of weeks later. After checking around I found Transmissions By Joe here in Dallas Ga. My transmission shifts perfect and better than before, honestly. My extended warranty paid for the repair and Mr. Joe found and fixed my a/c problem. Only had a valve leaking. Part, labor & freon, $50.00. Mr. Joe saved me $1750.00 that Jim Ellis Mazda was gonna rip me off. Any work that I need from now on will be done by Transmissions By Joe.

One of the only guys around that will work on a manual transmission. He did great with mine.

Took my car here and stated my rpms would go up around 40mph didnt seem to want to shift gears at this speed...they said it was catalytic converter and solenoid..paid for that picked up car and minutes down the road same exact thing...took it back (should not have) and then paid more money to say its definitely fixed now ..paid $1200....again pick up car and same thing....well guess what?!! It was the clutch fan!! My husband installed it and drives fine! DONT GET RIPPED OFF!! IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD....THANKS FOR RIPPING ME OFF....

Joe replaced my transmission on my 2008 Mercury Mountaineer, originally i chose them based on price and reviews. However after dealing with them I have found that they are business that stands behind there work 150% and go above and beyond to make it right. Joe and Suzan are good people and i highly recommend them, but not just for transmission work, they do it all.

I have taken multiple cars to Joe and he has always been more than honest with me. I will continue to take my vehicles to his shop because it is very hard to find a shop that DOES NOT try to take advantage of you. If he says something needs repaired, he will show you the damaged part prior to repair if you ask him.

Don’t go here! I took a car to this shop a couple years ago that was shuttering on downshifts. They told me I had coolant in my transmission and wanted to charge me to rebuild the transmission and replace the entire cooling system. I said give me my keys and went to a mechanic I trust who found out there was nothing more wrong with the car than needing new motor mounts. Crooks, like almost every transmission shop. Could be a $100 fix and they’ll try to charge you thousands.

Wonderful service and the staff are knowledgeable. I initially chose this business because of the great reviews and the fact that it is local. I thought my transmission was going out since it seemed to be slipping gears when downshifting; however it turned out to be an issue with low fluid level. After having the transmission serviced there the car has been running beautifully since. The bonus that has won over my future business was that they identified what was causing a sloshing sound behind my dashboard that has occurred every fall/winter since I bought the car new from the dealer. After re-pressuring my cooling system I havent heard anything since. Great experience there all around.

Dont go to Genes for transmissions! We got scammed there. Joe and his team are honest and stand by the quality of their work. They have gone above and beyond every time we have come to them for mechanical work. They are a full service automotive shop. Call them first EVERY time!

The next morning I had a leak just as before the overhaul. I took it back Joe pulled the transmission under the warranty but two weeks later it was leaking again. I am waiting for him to get time to repair for a 3rd time. He charged me over $1500 that was over $500 from what he told me would be the worst case scenario . I could have purchased a new transmission for much less. My advice to you classic car owners do not over haul if you need your transmission repaired a better option is new or re manufactured. I am not very happyI decided to eat the $1,500 and ordered a new transmission from SUMMIT Racing for much less. Dallas Auto Repair Dallas, GA is installing it since Joe never returned my call to install the new transmission.I chose Transmission by Joe because of his great reviews. I am not putting down his shop. I am stating my experience with the shop.

I havent worked for my dad in over 10 years, I chose a different career path, though I do alot of work on cars. To this day its still impressive that I can call him with and just say I dont know where this bracket bolts and hell just spit it off the top of his head. Transmissions are second nature to this man. Throughout the years Ive called him for every transmission issue Ive or friends have had and the countless thousands he has saved friends of mine would blow your mind. He use to tell me he was too honest for this business, Ive inherited that trait as well. I cant sell a car to save my life. You can take this as a biased review, but dont jump to a conclusion until you talk to him. I firmly believe he can build a transmission with his eyes closed.Short story, I was working with him one day when I was young, taking a transmission out of an Odyssey, for those who dont know theres over 100 bolts to remove an odyssey transmission, so I was placing the bolts very carefully in order and vicinity of where they came out. I was almost done and he came by and raked every nut, bolt, scree, etc into a box. Told me if I didnt know where they went from a box then I didnt know what I was doing. As complex as a transmission is to build, he practices what he preaches. Throws every bolt, washer, pin, check ball into a wash basket and builds from the basket. This is 100% your go to guy for transmission issues. Hes fair, honest, and extremely intelligent. Dont believe the review? Give him a call and tell him whats wrong with your car. Better yet, go meet him at his shop and have peace of mind when you leave your car there.

Worst service Ive ever had.

Just want to state right off the bat, this is mainly a review of the integrity and honesty of the staff, which when compared to AAMCO, saved me about $4500. After an oil change and air filter change, at a local shop in Douglasville, the car began acting up. I first had the diagnostic codes run at AutoZone then took it to AAMCO for further diagnosis. After a couple hours the verdict was, the transmission needed to be replaced, the catalytic converter and Mass Airflow sensor also needed to be replaced. Yeah, no. I called a couple places, getting prices on the worst case - the training actually needing to be replaced.I called Joes b/c honestly, they were one of only two places I found in the areas I was looking that had decent online reviews. Over the phone, Jim (from Transmissions by Joe) told me that mechanical problems could be causing the training issues, and to really find out whats wrong, Id have to take it in. After calling a couple other places, I took the car in to Joe. They checked several things, ran some diagnostics, then promptly reconnected the hose to the air filter box, and bam! Fixed. When changing the air filter, the oil change shop had knocked the hose off, and like a lot of mechanical issues with newer vehicles, it had a cascade effect. The catalytic converter will need to be replaced soon, but it wasnt effecting the performance. Joes doesnt do handle catalytic converter replacements, but directed me to a good local shop who does.If these guys hadnt been as thorough and knowledgeable or had the integrity and honesty that they do, they could have easily fixed the hose AND ended up getting me to replace the training. They did not. They didnt even charge me to find and correct the hose issue. And THAT is something that I rarely find anymore when it comes to any type of service.

Joe did my transmission almost a year ago and it seemed like it was losing power. So I took it back (well after the warranty was up) and they took a look at it, diagnosed it and had me on my way that day. This thing has never driven better. Thank Jim and Joe123floors
