Because of ‘Covid’ they no longer watch babies so parents cannot workout if they have a baby. Additionally, for a CHRISTIAN organization they need to care more about their own employees and PAY more than MINIMUM wage. Also, their pool is open like 2 hours because they are so understaffed.I have one Daughter in preschool there- she enjoys it.

I have been an on-and-off number of the YMCAs since I got out of the Army in 2002. I am an orphan and an immigrant and Ive had challenges. I was at the Cornelius YMCA, and had a situation happen where I was suspended from the YMCA. I was planning on contesting it, but what I did not know, was that the YMCA staff sent the police to my house. They did not tell me it was going to happen at any point in my interaction with them. What happened however, was because of this, I was kicked out of my housing and have been dealing with homelessness ever since. And Suicidal Thoughts. I would love if someone would contact the woman who caused this and tell her that she did something to hurt an orphaned Army veteran. I really miss the saunas if it was a wonderful thing for my health, and I would love to join the YMCA again, so if someone from the YMCA would contact me that would be wonderful. Im going to end my life soon.

Wonderful facility, ultra-friendly staff and authentic community. Been going to the YMCA for about 5 years now and loving every minute of it. The indoor/outdoor pool is fantastic and they even have a beachfront that members can enjoy (with a huge inflatable slide and obstacle course). Workout equipment is new and spaced out comfortably. Its a close-knit community and theres always familiar faces everytime you go. Kids program is second-to-none, as well. Been taking my son to the YMCA for 3 years now. He loves his teachers, his classmates and all of the activities they do. They teach Christian values, as well, which is such a breath of fresh air in todays world. Highly recommend everything about this place!

My number one spot to get a lift in before work or after work. Not that much traffic, and an amazing staff. My new favorite gym in Cornelius. The only disappointing heart are the closing times, they close relatively early and open a little bit later. Not at 24-hour gym, however the southern hospitality of Staff is amazing and more family friendly.

Stop by there Tuesday the lady at the front desk was rude to me and my daughter. I was inquiring about summer camp and based on income financing. The moment I said that she turnt her nose up at me I felt really disrespected. Didn’t catch her name just remember she was a older blonde hair lady. She came off as very judgmental. Worse experience ever even my daughter ask why was she looking at us like that she’s only six years old. She didn’t try help us in no way possible. Bad customer service ‼️

My review is only for the lake access, not for the gym or workout facility.I saw on Instagram they have lake access on Saturdays from 11am-4pm so I came today to check it out. My membership is at the Dowd YMCA in Charlotte but I had no problem visiting this location!If you drive to the left past the main building, youll see the lake access area and there is a small parking lot where you can park. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables so you can bring a picnic lunch. There are also bathrooms and dressing rooms available for changing. Nothing fancy but its nice that they are there!There is a small cove area where you can kayak, canoe, stand up paddle, or play on two inflatable climbing things in the water. They require everyone to wear a life vest which they can supply if you dont have your own. There was no cost to use any of the equipment!On a crowded day they ask you to limit the time you have the equipment to an hour, but on a slow day they dont care how long you use it. For the swimmers and kids, every hour they call everyone out of the water for 15 minutes, but kayakers can stay in the water.There are also plenty of lifeguards on duty. I counted at least 7. They station 2 lifeguards in kayaks at each of the inflatable things to watch the kids from both sides. One lifeguard stands on the dock and watches the kayakers in the cove. They even have a lifeguard ski boat that they send out to watch the kayakers who paddle outside of the cove. I felt very safe when I was there!This is definitely an activity place and not a beach for laying out and tanning.(Lake access is during the summer months, first day was mid-June 2020, Saturdays 11am-4pm)

One of the best places to go. The swimming lessons for kids is worth it. Very attentive teachers! My granddaughter loves it! Go!

I was asked to leave because my workout crop top did not follow their dress code. My top did not have any cleavage and I was barely showing my stomach. I felt embarrassed and body shamed. I have been to better gyms where I have used the same top and never I was asked to leave. I will not come back to their centers.

I LOVE my deep water exercise classes! Please consider adding 1 class each workday like it was before the pandemic. I can hardly wait for those summer outdoor classes.

Aging facility that has seen some recent updates. Indoor pool is currently closed due to staffing shortages and the outdoor pool is very much bare bones - just a pool, nothing else. It is in need of some cleaning too

Weve been going here over a year now and have had a wonderful experience. The child watch is excellent. Ive always felt more than comfortable leaving my kids with any of the people working in the child watch. They really are fantastic. I enjoy the fitness classes at this location as well.

What an amazing and clean facility! The staff there are really friendly and even gave me a tour of the place. My husband has been going here for months, but I just recently went today. I enjoyed the quiet workout area and the fact that while I’m running/walking I can see the lake.They have all kinds of added amenities unlike other YMCA’s since it’s on the lake. You can rent (included in membership) canoes, paddle boards and kayaks. They have a volleyball net, water trampoline and water slide. Plus, a great place to eat lunch outside!What a family friendly environment!

Enjoy using the YMCA family of locations. This location has a real problem with theft. My wife had her LOCKED locker broken into during a visit. The staff (who was friendly and sympathetic) informed her that this was something they’ve been monitoring for MONTHS (unbeknownst to us when we signed up) and agreed it was a problem. She lost hundreds of dollars in jewelry and other items. She has cancelled her membership and filed a police report. Just be careful as I understand they hit the parking lot also.

Small but fun. Nice equipment, everyone minds their own business and lets you go to work. Theyve also got nice programs for the kids during the summer, and I always see people with staff.

Yoga class selection is great, especially if you can go during the day. The view of the lake is perfect!

I like the LKN YMCA because they have riding bicycles that I can work out with outside of being in a cycle class. This allows me to work at my own pace and on my own schedule, to the tune of my own beat. I love it! There are two workout rooms, one upstairs, and one downstairs that is frequented by the older crowed. I was introduced to this room as I was looking for the rowers. They are in this room so that is where I tend to spend half of my time. The room has treadmills and free weights, along with the older machines. Its a nice quite place free of the constant dropping of weight on the floor.

Just started a week ago and have loved every minute of it. From the relaxing yoga classes to the fun high intensity fitness classes its everything Ive needed. Im a moron when it comes to fitness but thats ok! They offer a free health consultation to guide you on what is best for you and show you how to do all the exercise equipment. I Love it here! Best choice Ive made for myself in years. 😊

Great place to visit on selected Saturday mornings during the summer to practice open water swimming. Be sure to bring your own pull along buoy.

It’s okay. Very small gym size, they have good equipment just not enough floor space. Communication of employees isn’t very effective.

There is zero communication from this YMCA. The website is not updated, the swim instructors won’t return calls or multiple messages, classes are rescheduled without alerts or communication.I’ve never been at any YMCA with organization this poor. I would recommend you spend your time, money, and energy elsewhere.

Great place to workout. Family friendly, great staff, and inclusive of everyone. They offer a variety of group fitness classes which I personally love. In addition, with your membership you can also go to any YMCA in the greater Charlotte area.

I did not like this place at all. Anything you want to add/change on your membership you must be present on site to do. This is extremely old school. There are also a few employees which are extremely rude and I have reported them to the corporate office. This is a family facility therefore people should treat you like family.

Love the LKN Y. The staff makes you feel like family and the facilities are top notch! Being on the lake makes it one of the most unique Ys in the country. Their after school care is awesome for your elementary school kids and summer camp options are the best in the area (you need to sign up early, it fills up fast! And the only reason I share thos with you is that my kids are older...could be your kids camp counselors soon!).

Very expensive- your membership dollars subsidize other peoples memberships. Once you join they do not care about you. Much more interested in new memberships than treating existing members well. Workout areas need to be cleaned. I have been going to the Y for 13 years- I wish there was another option like lifetime fitness.

Love this place for open water swimming on spring and summer season because this is only place to swim in charlotte area with the wonderful guard and a good price $10 per session on Saturday.
