This Facility is using the Covid crisis as a means to limit visitors to its patients. It is not a matter of whether a visitor is vaccinated or not-John Muir is ONLY allowing ONE visitor per patient for the duration of the patients stay. So much for the vaccinated Family wanting to see Grandma one more time before she goes to Heaven! This policy is just a lousy excuse to limit the amopunt of work the Staff at John Muir has to do! It negates the entire idea of sharing families all under the guise of Covid. Vaccinated visitation should not be restricted!!!The emotional health of John Muirs patients or should we say CLIENTS is as much a part of treatment as any other physical type. It is being ignored for the sake of the Administration!

Have an emergency? Do not come to this place. Worse experience ever. I came in with a child with an opening on his forehead, I waited for 2 hours and nothing. I asked for help when he started bleeding again and the nurse calmly said “I do not have beds available,” I told her I’ve been waiting for 2 hours and she said “so has everybody else.” The worse experience ever at a hospital. The lady at the front desk, Monday 8/23 at 10:50pm, when I asked for help she gave me such an attitude telling me to wait. I told her, “don’t give me such an attitude because I do not need that right now.” i complained to security how b*tchy the receptionist was and she apologized for it. Anyway, I left the hospital without getting any help and went to another hospital that would help us. Do not come here, please, do yourself a favor.

I was so weak and dizzy , ambulance brought me to the Emergency around 11:30 am . I was being assist by 2 nurses . They took some blood test on me and I stayed in the room for couple of hours . Then , I need to use restroom and I asked nurse help , she took out equipments attached on my body and left without even asking if I can go to restroom alone . I remained seated because I felt dizzy and scared to walk , then I asked again the same nurse named Crystal the nurse with eye glass , I told her if she can help me walked to the restroom , but she said no I can’t accompany you and I will just get you a commode . I’ve waited 30 mins , an hour but no commode no assistance . She seems she just ignored me or forgot . I was really not feeling good , thanks God a very nice guy EKG Technician named ERIC came to do EKG on me and he asked me if I’m ok . I said no , I really need to go to the restroom and he voluntarily accompany me going to the restroom . I said I know it’s not his job description but yet he indeed helped me without any hesitation . He said we care for our patients . Also no one even bothered to give me a blanket , one lady from registered told me she will ask for a blanket but she also forgot and never give me one and Eric noticed I was cold , so he gave me a hot blanket that makes me comfortable . I was discharged , a male nurse helped me and his also nice . But that lady nurse looked at me with an attitude. People go to ER because we are all sick , just give us nice consideration , comfort , let us feel were being taking care of and not making us upset and don’t let us feel humiliated , helped sincerely , respect each patient needs .

Im not a patient there, but my dad is. He has recieved subpar care from the moment of arrival. He has serious GI issues and since he is medi-cal, he is treated like scum. The doctor told me that he needs to have some testing done, but its too costly for medi-cal patients and that those test could be done out-patient at a later time. But he needs a diagnosis still, so those tests could produce the answers. Bottom line, go elsewhere if youre a medi-cal patient.

My wife went to this Hospital with serious pain and Stomachache, first of all They checked if it was a COVID and they left her in one alone room.My wife was crying because it was so painful. After many hours they came back to her and said to her that It wasnt COVID and they said to her that it was nothing.I believe that doctors has a superpower or they are mystics because without any exams they said it.They didnt request a exam and with a magic they knew what it was happening with my wife.they just gave a nausea pill and ibuprofen prescription. It was crazy and horrible, everything there is horrible. After we left this place we went to Martinez Health Center Hospital, I can say it was the best place, super nice people and staffs. After a lot of exams that the John Muir didnt do it, They took care about my wife and solve her health problem, we I definitively recommend Martinez Health Center Hospital. If you have options to go to other Hospital, dont think and go, because this John Muir Hospital is horrible.

I recently spent 4 days over NY at JMH and three additional outpatient visits relating to a liver obstruction. I found the experience including personnel, information, and procedures shockingly poor in several instances. On NY eve they attempted a procedure which didnt work, but they could not perform the alternative procedure the next day because all of the Drs were let off for NY Day. but they would not let me leave so I spent NY eve and NY day in the hospital with no care, information or anything to do when I could have gone home. the following day I had the alternative procedure. the dr only spoke to me just before and after the procedure. no checkups, visits, calls or details. the nurses could not answer a single question I asked about what was happening. I was told to continue the alternative treatment for one to two weeks and then make an outpatient appt to reverse part of the procedure. while being discharged they put all my clothes and belongings in a plastic bag and had me sign a form I had received my belongings. when I got home, I realised my medications which they had taken away and stored in their pharmacy, were not with my belongings. I called to tell them and asked if they would send someone to return them since it was their error. A very surly nurse snapped you signed the form saying you got your belongings didnt you? so it was all my fault and I had to drive back to the hospital to pick them up. I asked the nurse what was the difference between one and two weeks clinically as I wanted to get it done asap. she told me it had to do with when the drainage stopped from the external drain. This proved to be completely false, as normal drainage would continue indefinitely. it turned out the one to two weeks had more to do with the dr schedule and being away for a conference, so it was scheduled for more than two weeks later. I arrived for that appt where the procedure was internalised and the drainage bag removed but the line left in and capped off. I was told this was because I needed a weeks script of vit K to normalize my clotting factors.then to go to the lab for a vit K value and make an appt to have the external line removed. The report they gave me of the procedure and followup correctly described the procedure and the vit K regimen, but the follow up read make appt at Drs office in 2-3 weeks to discuss biopsy results. This was totally someone elses followup lifted to my report not mine. there was no biopsy or appt at dr office. it should have read make out patient appt to remove external line. I found that to be a shocking error, but I did make the appt and called to ask if I would be under anaesthesia and was told yes. so I was in the OR being prepped, with 4 nurses who couldnt decide if I was to be on my side or my back ,and then I asked again about the anaesthesia and one nurse said oh no, no anaesthesia; he will just pull the line out. another nurse said I think he is going to do an endoscopy which would require anaesthesia. the four argued back and forth as Im lying there for the procedure and they didnt even know what was being done. they finally went to find the dr who said yes it would be anaesthesia. I finally had the procedure and left after recovery. The reason I called ahead about the anaesthesia was that they require a driver to pick you up and I said I really didnt have anyone so what happens if I dont have a driver. She snapped in a rude tone then you cant have the procedure. nothing about how to find a solution, just a smart comment. really it seemed no one knew what was going on or how to answer my questions and if they did they were usually wrong. This is not to say all of the nurses were unpleasant; some were very nice, or that the dr didnt perform admirably; its just that they never checked in on me or explained things. I dont think I am overreacting but in comparison to UCSF for example, this was a very unsatisfactory experience and it was just shocking the lack of knowledge and inaccurate medical notes.

My wife has been to the ER 3 times in one week for uncontrollable vomiting. She couldnt keep any food or fluid down, as well as meds. Each time she was in the ER, she was sent home only to be brought back a day or two later for the same issue. You would think that someone who cannot keep anything down due to vomiting would be a concern to the ER, and they would want to at least admit to get to the root of the problem. We have seen the following Drs here: Dr.Krull, Dr. Patel and now Dr. Romeiser. It seems that the staff here do not take vomiting seriously and that the Drs here should have their medical licenses taken away. They would rather send a patient home to suffer and not to care if the patient can eat or drink.

Extremely disappointed in the lack of cleanliness in the public restrooms at both hospitals. Walnut Creek and Concord Campus. Specifically, the womens restroom on the first floor nearest the surgical waiting area. After me and a staffer complaining to housekeeping about the unsanitary condtions it took 4 hours and another follow-up call before a janitor came to mop up pee in the handicap stall. The entire floor/corners coving is filthy! As are the walls near the sink area. The faucets have scum and stain build-up on them, toilet rim long time no not wiped. The same filth was observed at the Concord hospital West 4th floor women restroom. Dont these hospitals have janitors throughout the day clean public facilities. Then lets talk about the hospital in-patient areas!!!someone needs to get on this...no wonder infection rates and hospital acquired illnesses are on the rise! I have pictures if anyone cares to see them. On a side note, Why does the Concord Campus let the homeless sleep in the benches outside the emergency room main door? This wouldnt happen in Walnut Creek. Why is there valet parking at the Walnut Creek hospital and not Concord campus?

11/30/14Ive been in the cardiovascular building at John Muir many times for different reasons, most recently, last night (Saturday). On the way into the building there are face masks and hand sanitizer. Inside, my husband and I stopped in the lobby to look at the prettily decorated Christmas tree and other decorations. The main front desk was empty but we were able to find a directional guide near the elevator and figure out which floor we needed. The second floor is home to the progressive care unit - where a patient may be moved after ER, but before a surgery. There is a large waiting room with a TV and many chairs, so your family and friends can come see you but not all crowd your private room at once. Outside of that waiting room is a front desk where I found two friendly girls sitting - happy to direct me to the room I was looking for. Many of the private rooms are very spacious - the one I saw last night had 6 people comfortable sitting in it - and only one patient. He had a private bathroom and it was set up very nicely. Its nice to know that your loved one is really being cared for. Outside of this patients room there was another desk with three other staff people working and checking on patients. Everything was very clean (duh, its a hospital).I really have only had good experiences here when talking with staff and patients. The cardiovascular unit is really nice - hopefully you wont ever have to visit someone being treated in there, but if you do, Id trust that they are in good hands.

I will NEVER EVER come back there unless I were to have a heart attack or something like that. Dont come to this hospital people are very bad here. oh and did I mention that when I was getting discharge, one of the nurse pulled extremely hard on my IV while taking it out in purpose, this kind of things SHOULD NOT happen in a professional setting. On 3/23/2018 around midnight I had severe chest pains that led me to John Muir ER in Concord. There was no one there and I was admitted right away! I got into the ER room where they hooked me up and took blood. One ER nurse came in by the name of Arlene and said she was going to give me nitro. I never have had it and because I am very sensitive to meds I asked her if there are any side effects and said I am sensitive. She said there are no side effects at all. She gave me two and my blood pressure plummeted into the 70s, I thought I was going to die!! many nurses came in and were shocked along with the Dr. when she came in. I was so scared! I then was admitted. I really wanted to leave but was so incredibly weak. When I got into my room, a nurse said she would have to strip me down naked, roll me over and check my butt for abrasions and cuts I couldnt believe what I was hearing! I didnt want to, it was humiliating. She said it was policy and all hospitals do this! She made me feel if I didnt I was hiding something. I was told I would have a stress test between 8 am and 9:30 am, the nurse comes in and says it wont be till 2:30 or 3 pm. I didnt want to stay, at this time my blood work came back fine. At 10:30 I had not eaten and was starved, I was told conflicting stories that I had to fast, others saying I could eat. My nurse said she would get me breakfast at around 10:30 am. She leaves, comes back 30 minutes later with nothing and says they are closed and getting ready for lunch. She didnt even bring back a piece of fruit. I was so upset. My husband left and brought me back fruit, graham crackers and some juice. Finally at 12:30, I got my stress test. I also received a cardiogram. The tech tells me to file a report on the ER nurse. I get on the treadmill, I do quite well for being exhausted and still having chest pain and with no pain reliever and put through hell! She then puts full speed and I cant do it anymore! The cardiologist comes in and says Im too young not to finish and berates me. Then they start talking about me with the Dr.s back to me. My husband speaks up against their behavior. The Dr. says there is nothing wrong with my heart but I need the nuclear test! I am so exhausted, so spent! I did not want to do anymore, I just wanted to go home! When one of the techs helped me on the gurney, she told me that almost nobody passes the treadmill test. What that tells me is that we are to fail so they can put patients through hell for their greed! They bring me back to my room and my nurse says that I have to wait for the cardiologist to speak to my Dr. to be assessed and then maybe be released. I said no more, I want to leave now! She comes back with a paper for me to sign that reads I am voluntarily leaving the hospital against my Dr.s advice and I would be at risk. This was a falsehood. I would not sign. She then comes back with 3 more nurses and two security guards! One nurse starts to berate me, I started crying and said I have never been treated so badly! I then get dressed, Im shaking and scared! We leave with two security guards and everyone looking at us as if we were criminals! To sum up my experience here: I would recommend no one ever coming here! I have never been so scared, humiliated, violated! They are criminal and I hope they close this hell hole! What they did to me should never happen to anyone!! I came here afraid for my life and end up with post traumatic stress from almost dying, being mocked, humiliated and violated!
