I have never had a negative experience here. They have been thorough and thoughtful concerning my teens care. The front staff have always been considerate and kind and the nurse and doctor that my two teens receive care from have been great. I can tell they care about their well being. Thanks.

After going over several reviews I’ve decided to make one of my own....We’ve had positive experiences so far. I thought I was going to be late to our first appointment so I gave them a call and the staff was amazing! She was very nice and told me it was ok. I’m looking forward to the future visits we have scheduled (as our my children)

So it took them awhile to make my first appointment I got my appointment for my son who has ADHD and we went in there and everything seems nice the staff was fine then I had to cancel my next five or six appointments because we have family emergencies we had death in the family my car was bad for a couple of months and of course covid-19 so after everything gets better I said I want to make a appointment for my daughter they said that can make one at a time that was convenient for me which I made her appointment for before but I was like okay you know dont make such a big fuss about it so I go to make my appointment for my son because I might have got in touch with me and I told her that I would need to find another date that would be suitable for myself so I sent her an email to let her know I was ready and I didnt get a reply back for 2 weeks I took upon myself to message them back and I get told that they are unable to schedule me again because I have cancelled 5 appointments since when is it so unprofessional and okay to deny a child to have the help that they need all because of canceled appointments things happen in peoples lives things that people cant help and we was just going through a really big rough patch and now my son is not able to go see it a doctor about his ADHD at that facility because of it is outrageous and very unprofessional but like I told them they lost my service and anybody else that I know their service as well it seems to me they just need to start over with new people if I could give them a zero just because of them being so unprofessional I definitely would.

I have childhood trauma that I am now dealing with. The MSA is a Child and Adolescent center, and being an older teen, I can confidently say that this place has provided me the best possible care.My psychiatrist is exactly the professional I need.I spoke to counselors as a young child, but none listened or gave me the professional help I needed or the safety that every child deserves. This doctor has provided that safety for me.She is educated, professional, articulate, and dedicated to my success: everything that I need as a survivor of childhood trauma.HOWEVER, the most important thing she does is explain. She provides excellent care by providing the information about medication that I need; scheduling a 45 minute appointment with her to discuss my medical and personal life felt like the most progress I have EVER made in a single 45 minutes of my life. She LISTENED to me and cared.that own reviewer who mentioned the front desk staff as rude— Maybe you were rude? Maybe there was no one to blame. To move forward with communication,Please respect all human beings. Respect them by showing the care that you would like to be shown.ALL of the staff here including the front desk are very responsive to questions, and are happy to provide the information you need when you take the time to talk to them about it.My experience at first was not 5 stars because I did not block out the time I needed, but taking time to talk about my needs and questions with the Front Desk Staff and Medical Staff was very very rewarding. My only complaint is that someday I will age out. But I know that they’ll help me receive the care I need; and point me in the right direction!I have hope because of here.Could it be improved? Yes. The books here are very outdated and beat up.But there is a message board that describes the Need to Know info in the waiting area, and there is a brochure that explains that this is now a Child, Adolescent, AND Young Adult Center. This is a living practice that is responding to needs, and I hope that the management will continue to grow respond to the needs of the patients here and continue to improve its services.

This place is very unprofessional!!! Run if your child is referred here. The intake guy took literally 3 weeks to schedule an appointment. The front desk lady is Very rude and insensitive like the previous reviewer stated. If you want your child condition to be taken seriously Don’t bring them here!!!! TRUST THE REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE!!!*****Responding to the so called owner “Marty” comment on my review below ********You do have a guy there by the name Vincent!! Vincent met with me and my child for intake back in October. He was very nice and seemed to be knowledgeable about my daughters mental health. Vincent maybe either overwhelmed with work or has poor time management skills because he never called us back to start her treatment plan nor counseling. I had to call several times to get a response back from him 4 weeks later, “very unprofessional”I honestly wanted this place to workout for my child. Unfortunately it didn’t because of their lack of communication, customer service, and ethics. Mental illness should be taken more serious at MSA especially for children, but it’s not!!!!

I currently have 3 children in treatment at MSA, one for depression and anxiety, one for intermittent explosive disorder and emotional issues, and one for ADHD and ODD. My oldest son has been going for two years, my next son for a year and a half, and my daughter for about a year. The quality of therapy they have received, combined with the close proximity to my home, has totally been worth it. The therapists really develop a good rapport with my children, which gives them a safe space to explore their feelings and work on challenging issues in the ways best suited to each of them (play vs talk vs art, etc). My children look forward to their time with their therapist. I have seen significant improvements in my children after therapy, and even greater gains after some of them see their psychiatrists, who are very willing to make adjustments, take sooner than suggested follow up appointments, and are never pushy with the meds. That being said, it is a busy center, and if you dont stay on top of making appointments, you may not get your preferred time(s). The front desk is extremely busy because of the huge client pool and the sheer number of therapists on staff. The online check in system saves us a bunch of time, and we are rarely kept waiting for any appointment. Trust me, Im in there every week, sometimes twice a week, with how many kids need therapy in our family. Some of our first appointments did take many weeks to finally get it, but I found that to be true with my own therapy appointments--it just comes with the territory.Hopefully those seeking a good therapist for their children will not be discouraged by negative reviews from angry (former) clients. Solid mental health issues take time to resolve, and are a lifelong journey for many. If you are looking to be cured anywhere by anyone, you will be looking for a long time.

Initially my appointment was postponed. I was still ok with that and not having any negative impression. Though the encounter with the staff at the reception was not pleasant, I was ok with that too. But, I was surprised to learn that from the PMHNP who saw my 17yrs old son, saying that I had to see a psychologist to confirm that my son has ADHD at all. I was not told about that at the time of taking the appointment. If I had to go see a psychologist, it would be an extra $$ besides this appointment which is useless. I was under impression that he will be tested for the problem. I was seeing them on my son complaining that he has ADHD. I found it ridiculous that he will be given medicine just based on what my son says but not by a diagnosis and/or a medical proof. One more surprising thing is that they increased the dosage just by my son saying that the previous one had no effect. The cause can be exploited by teenage boys and there should be substantial proof before prescribing the medicine. Id not go there again.

Front staff is rude and unprofessional. The Dr has canceled on us 3 times in a period of 3 months. No apologies, no effort to get us seen sooner.Worst service provider I’ve ever experienced. Don’t waste your time going there - they will only add frustration to your life. Sad because the Drs are nice. But obviously they don’t take their responsibility seriously. “Things happen “.... is their pathetic excuse for repeat cancellations. From one of their replies “ We allow a patient a maximum of three no shows for treatment before discharging.“ So how many cancellations do you allow your Drs before you discharge them? How many complaints about the front staff before they’re let go?All they want is the money.... Don’t bother with this place. They’re defensive about their reviews (read them!) instead of correcting the issues

MSA helped my daughter tremendously. I was impressed that the first suggestion wasnt medication, so in that sense, there wasnt a rush to judgment. While in time, my daughter needed and benefitted from going on medication, it felt like we had tried other avenues first, and that was important to me.Ive found the doctors on staff to be very compassionate and understanding. Ive found the front desk staff to be helpful. Perhaps the front desk staff is not overly friendly, but theyve been efficient, and helpful in my experience. My daughter had a very positive experience in the IOP program, save for another child who acted inappropriately, and that child was asked to leave the program. My daughter got so much from the group meetings, that she didnt want to stop going, when she graduated. I feel very fortunate to have found MSA.

I have been going here for my son for the last 6 years. If there was somewhere closer, I would go there instead. The doctors seem to change often and some are good and some are just ok. All in all they are better than the pediatrician if there are medication changes that are needed. But the scheduling isnt that great and the wait time on appointments has ranged from 15 min to an hour.

This is coming from a former participant of the IOP. Some aspects of the outpatient therapy were significant. I was able to build upon personal coping skills. I did enjoy some of my exchanged with a few therapists. They were very well-read and kind. Most of the program was horrendously unorganized, however. Disruptions and arguments among the group were dragged on too long because the therapists did not want to intervene most of the time. One traumatizing moment that I will never forget is an incident during the art therapy part of the schedule. There was an issue between one child and the rest of the group and when something was said, the art therapist (I believe she might have been an intern) grew angry, telling my peer to stop talking. When said peer stated that this program is used to convey our own feelings, she abandoned the group, pulling in another therapist to take over. That part didnt bother me as much. What DID bother me was that the next day, our group was told to silently write letters to ourselves during one of the talk therapies. Heres the normal schedule: two talk therapies and an art therapy. We knew something went wrong when we were told NOT to say a word by a hostile therapist. We sit there for about fifteen minutes, writing down whatever came to mind, when we were finished, we stared at each other, wondering who would address the elephant in the room.Someone asks the therapist if we can share what we felt comfortable with, she refused. We sat in silence some more until some of us became overwhelmed and began crying. Let me tell you something as a depressive/anxious person: Being left alone in silence is a terrifying time. One of us gets so fed up that they walked outside to find an administrator who blatantly tells her to go back inside an do the activity. We get dismissed a few minutes later to go back into the waiting room. Our next session was us talking about our experience while we were sitting in silence. What a way to help kids.

The front desk ladies at this establishment are very rude and ignorant. If they do not have the patience to wait on the patients or parents of patients then they should not be the people you have to greet or provide information. But dealing with billing is a pain the butt. you cant talk to a humane. they dont call you back. they are punishing my child because I missed paying a bill about 10yrs ago. And i did final pay it through collections as soon as i got it. i cant believe a place would punish my child because I missed a payment. And on top of that they didnt even call me to let me know it was going to collections. Everyone has money issues in their life. now my child has to be punished because of this.

MSA helped my son and my family. MSA helped him avoid another hospitalization for his depression and cutting. The art therapy program gave him an outlet, and to this day, he still uses art to cope with his emotions. This is a good and safe place. No, it isnt fancy, but fancy decor isnt what gets children better. I did find the receptionist rude at first, but once I called her on it, I could tell she felt awful that I felt that way, and we got along fine after that. It isnt cheap, but it is worth it.

I found this place to be very dishonest. We were told our child would be in group therapy sessions with a licensed therapist for three hours a day. The conversations would be monitored and directed to allow opportunities for the group to develop coping skills to help deal with various issues. Well it turns out that the groups were allowed to break off into various social clicks and self talk, self direct and come up with solutions with no adult or licensed therapist supervision what so ever. So it was the blind leading the blind; which lead to enhancing our childs issues vs. develop into a workable condition. Here she learned that she didn’t have to go to school if she couldn’t make it out of bed, she didn’t have to deal with working on issues that caused her to enroll in the program. Her stress level has elevated to hives and massive panic attacks. While she no longer self harms, (because we have locked up all material that she could use) she will scratch the hives till they bleed. All conditions that never occurred before MSA. She now believes that she is her diagnosis and not who the person she was prior to the program. We were told on Tuesdays there were meetings for parents to attend to learn more about how to help our children. In the six week period that we were at MSA we were able to attend two. The parents waited for over a half hour one night before we were told the class was cancelled. This was after the director of the class saw a large group of parents in the waiting room, did not address us, and left the building. I waited three hours to have a parent meeting with my child’s councilor and never had the meeting. When tiring to communicate with the therapist we were forced to leave messages and wait DAYS to hear back.Every scheduled appointment that we had was a minimum of 30 minutes late. We were never able to oversee a group session with the kids being told that this would provide an “unsafe” environment for the group. Meaning they would not be able to open up and work in the problem. Now I fear that there was no structure to the groups and a lot of bad information was shared. When we started the program we were told our co-pay per day would be $20.00. I should have double checked with my insurance because it was in fact $60.00. Which means we are $3,000 in the whole for a program that didn’t work.We a filled out paper work to have her records released to her continuing care providers. No information was ever forwarded. Her current physiatrist in AA county said she has not heard good things about MSA and from what she can tell the program did little to improve my child’s situation. Meaning she was no better then when she started MSA. I can say with 100% certainty she is worse.

I went here when I was twelve, and I know they tried to help me in some capacity, but it was honestly a nightmare. I was put in a group therapy with kids who were several years younger, which was a huge mistake. I wasnt allowed to talk about half of the things I needed to talk about because the counsellors didnt want me to expose any of the others in the group to what I had experienced. It probably cost my parents a fortune, and all for something that didnt help me. If anything, it made me even more anxious and paranoid because I was basically taught that my issues were too inappropriate.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE! One of the worst experiences ever. Very unprofessional and not equipped to handle our child with ADHD, and what they diagnosed as Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. He was diagnosed by the medical director after speaking to my daughter without spending any time with him. She was told he was a candidate for the Intensive Outpatient Progam (IOP). 3 days a week, 3 hours at a time. He was there 3 weeks before we had any kind of family. Never given any information as to what the were doing or who he was seeing for all those hours he was there. Never met any of the therapists. Given NO information. Finally, met with the psychiatrist, who had spent ZERO time with our child, but went on to recommend some major medication changes...based on what???? We have no idea. Then after 2 minor incidents (one disruptive during some sort of session and one getting paint on the bathroom door and sinks) he was discharged (by phone) from the program. Did not even have the courtesy of a face to face meeting. Ok, so you know he is ADHD and YOUR facility diagnosed him with something else. AND YOU DISCHARGE HIM for the things you are supposed to be helping with. I dont get it. If IOP wasnt working for him, isnt there something else to recommend or try. You just discharge him. I think we asked to many questions and attempt to hold your facility to a higher standard. LITERALLY, THE WORST MEDICAL/MENTAL HEALTH CARE WE HAVE EVER RECEIVED!! Avoid at all costs.

I wasnt impressed at all with the services provided here. The group sessions for the IOP program didnt seem well coordinated, well managed or well supervised by anyone there. By the end of it we really didnt feel that it helped much. Then out of nowhere, I received an email from the owner, Martin Slutsky, with a PDF attachment of a bill we supposedly owed. The name and address on the bill were not ours, nor was the account number. I responded to him to ask him to clarify, since none of the information matched up and we never missed a payment regardless. I signed my response with my full name so he would see it and (hopefully) check it against whatever info he had.He responded to me Our records show that your child [redacted] was seen here and that you signed all the legal papers as responsible for the bill. We copied your driver’s license. I removed the childs name for their privacy, but needless to say it was not my childs name. I replied to him that it wasnt my child, and asked to see the copy of the drivers licence he claimed to have.He didnt reply and I was getting nervous that maybe someone somehow got a copy of my licence and had used it there. So I called the office. The woman at the front desk (who was very nice and helpful) looked up the account in question and assured me that the licence on file for that account was not mine, and confirmed that the email listed on that account was not mine either, and then told me I know hes had some back and forth with this account trying to get this paid off. He must have mixed up the emails. So I emailed Martin Slutsky again to inform him that I spoke with his staff, and that his receptionist assured me that the account he was threatening me with collections over was, in fact, not my account. He still has not responded to me to acknowledge the mistake or apologize.I dont know the ins and outs of HIPPA and medical privacy and all of that, but I feel like carelessly sending bills with patients information and types of treatment is frowned upon. And how do you possibly mix up the email on file from one account to another?

I do not recommend this place to help any child suffering from anxiety or depression. The first impression walking in the door was discouraging from the blinds that were shredded and hanging off the windows to the old worn out furniture and pictures advertising Goodyear tires on the wall. It was not calming or inviting. Our therapist was 30 minutes late and was slurping a Dunkin Doughnuts iced drink while we were in her office. The tipping point for me was when she told my son how he felt instead of listening to him say how he felt. I left telling her she had not convinced me that this was the right place or for that matter a safe place for my son to receive help. There are many other places for our children to receive care. Avoid this place at all costs.

*Do not go to this Center, if you value your childs emotional well being! We were told by someone we respect and trust that Dr. Brett Greenberger, a good psychiatrist was affiliated with MSA Child and Adolescent Center. He actually does not work in the *outpatient* section there anymore, only in their Intensive Outpatient Program. However, rather than being forthright with us when we called, MSA said that we first needed to see a therapist, and then the psychiatrist. Once our daughter bonded with the therapist, they directed us to their in-house psychiatrist, Dr. Shell. Across two sessions with her, Dr. Shell managed to set our daughter back several months, given her inhumaneness and insensitivity. We complained about her and said that we wanted to discontinue seeing her. At which point, MSA refused to let our daughter see the therapist she had bonded with too, under the pretext that we owed them an exhorbitant co-pay when even the therapist agreed that this charge was not called for!So, to sum up, the receptionists are rude, the practice is unethical, and the treatment is subpar! What they do to children that come for care and wellbeing is unconscionable.
