Giving one star only because it is not possible to give zero stars. The service itself is subpar and the front desk staff in the columbia office are rude, nasty and frankly disrespectful with no provocation. I’d rather go to the DMV and get a root canal with no anesthetic the same day than deal with your incompetent and combative staff.

I’m surprised there are people give more than one star to this company. It deserves absolutely no star for its customer’s service. I can’t speak of other Mediacom stores, but people who work for the one in Columbia have no respect for its customers whatsoever. They are not good at what they do nor do they care about people. To people who work at the Columbia store: If it’s a company issue that bothers you like you don’t get paid enough please use your temper on the right people. If you just don’t like your job and don’t want to spend time on it, it’s better to just quit it and find something else. For your own sake: working at a front desk or customer service, you earn your customers’ respect by respecting your customers.

Poor internet service, huge speed fluctuation during the day, at time internet speed < 20 Mbps and upload < 0.01 Mbps. If you are working from home or streaming TV look for another provider. My package is 300Mbps download and 10Mbps upload, I am far far from that.

We have been having on going internet problems since October 2020. As much as we pay for all the services, there should be no problem. The line to our house has been replaced, all the connectors have been replaced, we have a brand new out of the box modem, already went through 2 others, and we are still having drop outs with service. The worker that came by this last Friday, said it was a problem with the whole area we live in. The neighbors were also showing dropouts. Now today, September 20th, there is another work group that is suppose to be working on it between 6 A.M. to 8 P.M. It is now 1:15 P.M. and we are still experiencing dropouts.

We’ve been in our new home for 8 weeks & have contacted Mediacom customer service 7 times in that time. Currently we’ve been without internet for 3 days, which may not seem too bad but considering I work from home - it makes things difficult. The technician was finally able to come out today & told me they haven’t even turned on service to this neighborhood yet! Well then whose internet have I been stealing for 8 weeks?! I was promised repeatedly by 4 people that it would be up & running by 8pm. Just called back & customer service is as stumped as I am. Would not recommend. Almost as bad as Centurylink. Their only saving grace is the ability to talk to an actual human over the phone. Ridiculous.

When I ended my service with them the person I spoke with said no further action was required on my part and that my account was successfully closed. The next month I find that the autopay did not get cancelled so they pulled money out of my account for a service that I had stopped receiving weeks ago.Numerous service outages, throttling, and raising the price without notification are some of the other great things you can expect from this gem of a company. You should choose a different internet service provider.

This company will raise your rate more and more with every year you are loyal to them! and then when they auto charge your bank account after service has been disconnected they will make you do all the leg work for a refund! I’m actually certain it wasn’t a charge in error and they were hoping I didn’t notice. They admitted their error and then had the audacity to tell me to file a claim with my bank for a refund instead of handling it professionally and easily refunding me for what should’ve never been charged.

I certainly have mixed emotions about mediacom. For the most part they provide me with reliable decently fast internet. But for some reason ill never understand, internet, cable, satellite and home phone companies always have completely horrendous customer service. I have to assume its on purpose. Also, mediacom will send more junk mail to an address than anyone else. As long as you dont have a problem requiring some customer service it will be an ok service for you.

The technician team is very inconsistent. Some individuals are great, but others do not know what theyre doing. It looks like a problem with the company training. My entire apartment complexs internet was out for a whole week once because someone mistakenly disconnected the whole building instead of one client. They also secretly increase their prices over the years and hide it by saying youre paying for the modem.

Mediacom is hands down the worst internet provider out there. I have unfortunately had to deal with them most of my life as they have been the only one in town to provide the speeds they offer. We had century link DSL 3 years ago at our home but with the growth in tech and now being a full time online streamer, we needed the higher upload speed to ensure stream quality. we switched back to Mediacom and have had nothing but problems since. over the last 6 months alone I have had countless service techs out to my home, they have replaced EVERY line from the main box in the ground to the home, the box on the home to the modem inside, the modem has been replaced (TIMES 3 all different brands) The supervisor Jemel even came into my home personally, in disbelief stating that my (state of the art stream equipment) must not be able to handle it and he would use his laptop to prove it. Needless to say he found that his computer reached the exact same speeds as mine both on the gaming router and direct connect to the the modem only. He placed my system on a voice call so they could watch for any drops or issues digitally, and gave me his personal number to text screenshots IF this continued after his visit in which nothing was fixed, so of course a week later and I have text him multiple screenshots every day of my 1gig download and 60mb upload reaching about 200 down and 0.7 up. I need 15 to 20 up to stream live. The response was Been trying to isolate anything dropping and havent seen anything as of yet So even though he saw it for himself in my home and spent an hr trying to get a good speed, and even though Ive sent numerous screenshots from both their recommended mediacom speed test which uses mediacom Des Moines servers to test against, and speedtest.net which uses Socket here in town locally to test, they see nothing on their end falling off...? I am losing customers/subscribers by the minute and bleeding money. This is unacceptable and there is no other service in town that I can switch to that offers enough upload to perform what is needed. Also it will not let me leave a review on FB no matter how many times I refresh. (See screenshots) Next stop Better Business Beauro!

The worst customer service experience Ive encountered with any company thus far. They missed two appointments two days in a row and then said they were never even scheduled. 4 Hour windows for each appointment and we had to have someone wait at the business location during that time outside in their vehicle as the office is under construction. Between the constant outages, inability to send a technician out within a reasonable timeframe, bad customer service, price gouging after your first years contract, it’s just not worth it. A support rep flat out lied to me once and told me that my monthly price would not change and a few months later it went up ~30%. This is absolutely the WORST internet company in existence. When I moved into my new apartment I desperately wanted to go through a new company since I had used Mediacom for the two previous years. Unfortunately, they were the only company that serviced the area I live in. My boyfriend and I had scheduled a date for them to set up our internet and waited at the apartment during our set time slot. The technician never called and never showed and proceeded to blame us for not being there during our scheduled time slot. We were told they couldn’t come out until a week later to set up our internet, which wouldn’t work since we are students. After hours of being on the phone with multiple customer service people and some very heated conversations, we were finally able to get our internet set up. Initially I thought our internet was working for the first time ever (since in the past my internet typically cut out 10-15 times a day) but nope. The internet cuts out about every few minutes. This is quite possibly the worst internet service and company. I would love nothing more than to never use Mediacom again, but sadly I’m stuck with this lousy company. If you can, do yourself a favor and don’t ever go through Mediacom. This company is a waste of time and you pay monthly for your internet to not work 99% of the time.

I try everything the website suggests while all my work load piles up in my absence and my coworkers have to carry the load. It is absolutely unacceptable to treat your paying customers the way the customer service has treated me completely disregarding my pleas for assistance. If I were able to give 0 stars instead of 1, that would be a better representation of this company.First off, when installing mediacom into our residence, it took 3 separate reservations for the installer to actually show up. After returning the modem and router to the office twice more we finally got an internet connection. Also, do not even bother attempting to set up an appointment to fix the already poor internet. Mediacom will not schedule an appointment within 2 week. Horrible customer service, good luck canceling your account. I was happy with Mediacom overall as far as internet service goes. I never had issues with it working. It would once and a while be spotty but I could just reset my modem and it would work fine. The reason I canceled is because the cost went up so much every year. The first year I paid an introductory price of $44.99. I knew it would go up but not as much as it did. The second year it was $64.99 and this year (third year) it went up to $79.99. Also it was the 100mbps service and I was lucky to get over 20mbps. I was really hoping it would be easy to cancel my service but of course its not. I called to cancel on 9/28/20. Checked my account on 10/2/20 and it still had the full bill (it should have been reduced down to $7.75 for the few days it was going to go into the new billing cycle) so I contacted them again and they said to disregard the bill and that service would be ended on 10/5/20. I checked my account again today 10/9/20 and the bill is still $79.99 and I have yet to receive an updated bill in the mail so I can only assume that my service hasnt actually been canceled yet. As a side note CenturyLink also has horrible customer service. I had to call them multiple times to get them to end my service and not charge me for service I wasnt receiving.

Our internet service is clearly in a state of massive technological change. The struggle is sometimes reflected in certain aspects of the service, and a bit of a cutthroat philosophy has been necessary to survive, no doubt. My post regards solely, my interactions with customer service. During the pandemic, I dealt with an unavoidable service change. My experiences have been extraordinarily pleasant and productive. I even asked a tech guy, running tests on local lines, for an early hookup. He checked his watch, and the state of his download, and said “ Let’s look at it “. Ten minutes later I had internet again. Not even his job! So, I know everyone has that experience you just have to get out of your craw. I get that. But my service has been consistent during a pandemic, when the demand, with everyone home, is off the charts. The public faces and voices have been extraordinary, as if they were responding with the knowledge that internet service has become a necessity for most of us. You need to hear about these experiences as well. You know the old saying. Bad news is halfway around the world before good news gets it’s boots on. Truth.

We have had phone, internet and TV bundle for years and have finally had enough and are dropping. Internet service drops multiple times a day, phones go dead multiple times a week and it is getting worse. We are missing important calls and unable to reliably use the internet to pay bills, game etc. We have called Mediacom on the issues numerous times and they discount our bill or send out a technician as pacification only to have the issues continue. Almost always we were told it was an issue in our house and to reset our modem until we started a neighborhood Facebook page specifically on Mediacom performance which showed it was never us and the entire neighborhood was experiencing the same issues. Their calls to Mediacom also resulted in being told it was in their house and not a Mediacom issue. With the proof gained from our Facebook page, our neighborhood subdivision called the local manager who said he was commited to address the issue. For the next couple of weeks Mediacom trucks were seen in the neighborhood but with no one getting out of the trucks......and weeks, months later service was just as unreliable as ever. Currently our neighborhood is petitioning for other companies to service the neighborhood since all are fed up. Based on my experience and that of those in our subdivision, AVOID THIS PROVIDER.

I had a wonderful experience with Mediacom recently when I moved into a new house. Christian Gentry (8216) was my tech and he hooked everything up quickly with minimal to no involvement from me (which is what I wanted since I was busy unpacked and doing other things). He told me to contact him if I ran into any issues. A few days later the internet was running a little slow so I text him. He came right out to install a new line outside, I didn’t even know he was here until afterwards when he text. He gave me some ideas of what to do next if I had further issues. I then text him about my Amazon Fire Stick not working and it turned out to be an issue with the product and not the internet connection but he still walked me through exactly what to do to resolve it. He was fantastic and I so appreciated that he went above and beyond to help me.

Constantly disconnecting from internet intermittently, with minimal personal control over fixing it. Labyrinthian customer support. If you like gaming, be ready to get kicked out of anything requiring an internet connection.

The technician showed up right at the time of my appointment and called to give me a heads up when they were 15 minutes away. She was very friendly and efficient. She made sure that all the TVs had a cable cord that could reach them, even when one was across the room from the plug.

This is the worst internet service I have ever had. I have not gone a week without an outage lasting at least 2 hours. I pay for 500 Mbps and am lucky to get 20. Customer service is absolutely useless, knowing nothing except turn it off and on again. If there was any other broadband option, Id take it. Garbage service on every conceivable level.

Just moved to Columbia. This is the worst internet speed and connectivity I have ever experienced. It is also impossible to contact them. They also have some of the most stingiest data caps I have ever witnessed. I would suggest you choose spectrum, socket, or century link. Better yet, contact your local representative and express your interest in a municipal broadband project.

Mediacom is one of the absolute worst internet providers. We moved to our current house about 9 months ago and have had upload speed issues the entire time on and off depending on the day. Each time we contact customer service they have absolutely no history of our service calls, and when the techs come out they admit there is a problem, but it’s still never been fixed. Additionally, they overcharge me every single month and I have to call and get my bill corrected. EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. It’s like the company has problematic issues with every part of their business from customer service to technicians to billing. This is what happens when ISPs are allowed to dominate certain areas with little to no competition, we end up with horrendous service on every level. If they weren’t the only choice I have in my area with the speed I need, I would drop them instantly.

Seems like their customer service has gotten a lil better or I might have just gotten lucky. But their internet service, however is horrible. It came with our apartment so we were like sure. Had centurylink before with little problems here and there but it was good. Now nothing. It cuts off sometimes 3-4 times in a day and almost every single night around midnight. I cant play any online games. Can barely stream at or above 1080p and sometimes it does not even load at night. If you have any other option than mediacom, go for it or I guess update to higher speed. We only got it because it was included in our apartment. If you like playing online games, then this is not for you. Only for those who doesnt really rely on internet except for streaming and browsing. Been with them for two months and it sucks.

Ive lived in Columbia a year now. First 2 weeks of my service was great. After that Ive had nothing but trouble with my internet dropping and running slow. Ive had 4 techs out here and they always say they cant find a problem with he connection at my house and they have a work order put in for the lines. When I call all tech support wants me to do is reboot everything or schedule a tech. It is now the 20th of May and I havent had a solid connection for an hour straight the whole month and all they want to do is credit me for 14 days when I said Im not paying for service that they arent providing. One tech I talked to on the phone even tried to sell me cable service when I called cause my internet was down. I told her why would I pay for 2 services from you when I cant even get one delivered to me right. Ill be moving soon for my company and I hope that mediacom is not the internet provider in the area cause I cant do business like this. As an business manager I would never charge someone or tell them I dont have a solution to resolve their problem.

I’m a relatively new customer, and I’ve had service with mediacom for little over a week. I can honestly say that this is absolutely the worst service I’ve ever had. I have had to work from home since this pandemic and I have had to restart the modem here now 3 times in one day. I work from home, providing after hours support and I’m also a student so I need reliable connectivity.I will be calling mediacom something in the coming week to cancel my service and find a better, more reliable provider for my internet needs

I wish there was a zero star option. Ive been with mediacom for 2 and a half years. They have never fully resolved technical issues ranging from speed problems to outages to improper/outdated hardware. I pay for 1gig internet but I have never got consistent, fast speeds. The internet itself will have outages often, seemingly daily. The customer service is always rude and they treat people like theyre always wrong. I have yet to have a decent experience with this monopolistic bully. Dont use them if you can.

Getting more and more disappointed with this company. Not only with the lack of service I’m receiving but even had a customer service representative get an attitude and loud with me. Simply because I was trying to explain that I shouldn’t have to pay for a service I’m not gettin. They force me to pay $80 for a gig of speed and my internet runs between 18-50mbps. That only a small fraction of the services I pay for this is outrageous and very bad business. I’d suggest taking your business elsewhere.

Mediacom is inept at best, I have had nothing but trouble with them. But dont worry when it comes time to pay, they are all hands on deck #1 in customer service. The value is placed on your payment ability not on their service standards. I had a technician come out to my house, tell me there is something wrong with the apartments wiring and they will contact the apartment to do something about it. 3 weeks later, I hear nothing, I contact mediacom and they are less than stellar. I have to reschedule another technician to tell me the same thing the 1st one told me. I mean how backwards can this be? If I didnt do my job, Id be in trouble. But mediacom technicians dont do their job and they get a paycheck and a pat on the back. While Im told not even an apology, Im just flabbergasted at this company.
