Recently, my 9 week old Boston Terrier puppy jumped before we could stop him and broke his leg. Initially, in that we are right outside Augusta, GA, we took him to Blue Pearl in Augusta as we had looked them up and saw that they closed about an hour later. We got there and they would not see him. Said that they quit doing intakes an hour before closing. So, we then went to South Carolina Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care in Columbia where they did x-ray and stabilize him but he got the splint off that they put on.So, we then went to CVETS. My only wish is that I had known about CVETS earlier. This was on a Sunday. They kept him there that night and done his surgery the next morning. They called and gave updates regarding the surgery. This was only a 1 1/2 weeks ago, but Roscoe is recovering well. I can only attribute this to the care that he received at CVETS.If you are ever in need of emergency or specialty care for your pet, this is the place to go.Everyone on staff there is very friendly and professional. They will go out of their way to keep you informed of what is going on and definitely provide excellent care for your four-legged family member.

Phenomenal care and communication every step of the way. Saved my 14-yr-old mini dachshund this weekend who was experiencing heart failure. I was especially impressed and extremely grateful for Dr. Kennerly and her thoroughness in keeping me updated while caring for my girl. Clean, state-of-the-art facility with kind, empathetic staff. Cannot recommend enough.

Our Charlie girl woke us up EARLY morning around 2:30 AM, vomiting, not able to stand with what appeared to be seizures. The entire family jumped in the car and headed to Columbia, SC since that was the closest 24hr emergency vet. Right when we got there, the team at CVETS immediately took Charlie back, letting us know she had a very high fever and appeared to have lost her vision. They started treating her with meds and wanted to keep her overnight. We left there around 5:15 AM to come home, and they were already calling with updates by 7:45 AM. They called us THREE TIMES that day to keep us informed of how she was doing! We got to pick her up the next morning! ❤️❤️ (They think she got into something environmental like toxic algae or mushrooms that may have caused the episode.) 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wanted to write this post to talk about how amazing their team was! They gave us a room with a couch, chair, and TV to attempt to rest while we waited. They had coffee, water, hot chocolate, tea, and snacks! The staff here were some of the absolute most admirable people I have ever met! Thank all of you so much for giving us back our Charlie girl!! Whew, this was a super scary event!

Unbeknownst to us our golden retriever Charlotte had eaten Sago Palm leaves at our vacation rental in Hilton Head on the morning we were heading home to Ohio. Our daughter figured all this out in the car while our dog was throwing up leaves. Luckily we were near Columbia and we arrived at CVETS and they saved our dogs life. This is a top notch facility and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. They explained what was happening and answered questions. Please know that you are in good hands if you ever have an emergency and end up at CVETS. Thank you so much!!!

For some unknown reason it is almost impossible to get a dog into a veterinary clinic on a timely basis unless it is an emergency. Fortunately we were able to get scheduled into CVETS for an ultrasound for our Sheltie. Consequently CVETS was able to move the test schedule up by 2 1/2 weeks. CVETS has been supportive and professional in every way. We will be going back for additional tests and have every confidence that our pet will get the best possible care.

The staff was so friendly, they gave my momma dog(Nelly) an emergency c-section, and did a wonderful job. Hands down one of the most caring emergency vets. I had to rush Nelly to the vet because her delivery was not going good, so I had no time to pack anything for her. The staff helped me out when it came time to leave and gave me a basket for Nelly and the puppies and several blankets. Im just amazed how wonderful they took care of my babies. Now Nelly and the puppies made it home safe and sound and Nelly is enjoying time with her babies. Thank you!!

Our dog ate some grapes, which turned out to be a total emergency. CVETs got him right in as soon as we walked in the door and started treatment. He had to stay for two days, and we ended up getting a pretty nice refund since they overestimated the cost up front. I was pretty impressed that they gave me money back! But more than that, they took great care of our big guy Wilbur. I would recommend CVETS to any pet owner in an emergency situation. They are right on top of things and care for pets with love and great skill.

I had the worst night of my life last night, but it was kept from being so much worse by the great people of this clinic. The building itself is very clean, safe, and accommodating. I had an hour drive there from Sumter, and they immediately took my baby in to get to work. Even though his illness was incurable, and after a few hours, we ended up making the decision to let him go, the vet was so kind, straightforward, gentle, and understanding the entire time. I can’t sing his praises enough, or overstate how much I appreciate everyone there for what they did. I got the choice of how I wanted to say goodbye, as well as the choice of burial/cremation arrangements, and the staff answered any and every question and concern that I had. The entire time I felt very safe, respected, and understood, and I knew that my kitten was getting the best care he could, especially in the middle of the night. I was given a private extended waiting room, and at the end of everything, they provide a privacy exit door to avoid the lobby, as well as having a security guard on duty in the parking lot. It’s little things like this that go toward making a painful experience just that much better. I’d highly recommend CVETS if you ever have an urgent issue with a pet, they really did go above and beyond.

I’m going to start with putting this out here this is my first review I’ve ever done. That is how awful this experience was. We brought our dog in with 15 other people and everyone managed to get out of here in 2 hours. We have been the only people here for 4 hours and we still haven’t gotten our dog back. He was acting abnormal so all we did was ask for a exam. That turned into a 400$ ticket. Then we learn he’s just been “chilling” and “relaxing”. We kept trying to get updates and we kept getting “the doctor is with another patient at the moment”. We were the only patients here for about a hour until another patient came in and they just took that patient instead. All we asked was for our dog back and we kept getting delayed. It is now 4am and we still do not have our dog who apparently had no problems. 0/10 recommend

Our dog had Parvo and was at the CVETS from Saturday-Wednesday. It was expensive but necessary for our 10 week old pup. The facility is super nice and doctors were very friendly and I never felt rushed.

We took our dog there at 7:00 am. Two other people were there. We waited 3 1/2 hours before they would give us any update. They then said they were busy today and told us to go home. 10 hours later, around 5 pm they said she was ready to go home. We got there and waited another 30 minutes before getting our dog. The amount they told us originally when the doctor finally gave the update was that it would cost roughly $300. When we checked out it was $415. The only thing that was good was their coffee machine. Our dog didnt even need stitches and all she got was an antibiotic.

We will definitely use CVETS from this point forward when we need emergency veterinary care again in the future. They were friendly, courteous, and they treated our pet with respect first and foremost, then afterward they checked us out. It wasnt like money came first. We brought our Rex here a couple of times and would give more than five stars if I could. We are still in the discovery phase. When other er vets couldnt help us financially upfront with just the visit costs, we felt shut down and helpless, none comforted us over the phone as we panicked BUT THIS PLACE, they helped us with just a few words, bring him in and we can work it out we dont want your baby to suffer. Thats what we needed and they knew it. Whatever the outcome is, right now we KNOW our Rex is in amazing hands. When things were touch and go last night they took us back to his cage so we could say goodnight and headed home without him. Empathy and compassion, besides an amazing care team, is something this facility has plenty of from the front to the back of the house. Isnt that what we need when our babies suffer? Im hopeful to update this post at a later time with good news. But for now my review right now stands and this place is a blessing.

Unfortunately he had to lose his leg and they were very understanding when me and my husband had to try and find better financial options, we ended up deciding to stay with them and his surgery was a success! They were very passionate and loving, and all of the staff at the front desk said goodbye to my pet as I left with him. The only thing that I would say could need improvement is their payment options. They wanted a lot of money up front in order to do the surgery which I was thankfully able to pull together, but other then that a very good institution, doctors there were answering all of my questions and were very patient as we made our decisions.

I wish I could leave less than one star. My older dog with severe separation anxiety was hurt. I came to this location seeking help and advice. I was told I couldn’t go inside with my dog. Knowing her fears and ability to escape from almost anywhere I was hesitant and fearful. I was in there drive thru area. Without even a minute passing I was told to move my car for other patients that may come. No one was behind me, no one was coming, I couldn’t even process what to do with my dog before being pushed to the side. I also was asked to sign a paper authorizing them to do any work they need without consulting me first, which also stated I need to have unlimited funds available to pay for the services. I understand the world is different during this pandemic but compassion shouldn’t be lost.

Waited 2 hours to be triaged. Spoke with a vet for 2 seconds. I was told that blood work would take an hour. After 30 minutes, I was called stating my dog needed to be sedated to have blood work done. After another two hours, I went to check on his status and was told “they haven’t even started the process”. I was told by the nursing staff that my dog “was holding up the process”. Very poor at communicating with the owners about the status of the animals. Very rude staff. Only one understanding receptionist who is in nursing school. I am an emergency room nurse. I know how triage process works but I also know rectal bleeding out of dog or human is a high level priority. When I saw my dog for a second he was covered in blood on his bottom and the vet and staff did not seem concerned. I was told “you can take him and do outpatient medication” after I already paid $525! I was also told that “there are a lot of blood transfusions being done back there”. Well excuse me, I think my blood having rectal bleeding for 24 hours might be one of those patients that need a blood transfusion as well!

Our boxer, Brita, had an allergic reaction displaying hives on Sunday morning. We started her on benadryl and monitored her closely to ensure it did not become worse. Around 3 am Monday she became increasingly restless and we noticed her face, ears and neck were swelling signifying a more serious situation. To the shame of the CSRA, there were no 24 hour vets near the Augusta area and I drove from Edgefield 81 miles to CVETS in Columbia. Both on the phone and in person, the receptionist, assistants and doctor were all caring professionals. Even though I had been advised more critical pets would take priority and there could be a lengthy wait, in less than an hour she was treated and I was on my home with her. The only recommend I could make to improve upon their exceptional service is to locate a CVETS in the Aiken/Augusta area!

Dr. Moye took the time to explain every single thing to me in detail that was going on with my sweet kitty from the nature of his condition, appropriate treatment, and what the future looked like for him and I. Unfortunately I decided the best thing for him was to be put down. Losing a pet is not easy, especially when it is your first. With that being said, I feel at peace knowing I put him down in the hands of such empathetic, compassionate, and caring people. My dog had scheduled knee surgery at CVETS on 4/12/2021. I found the staff, surgeon, and overall facility to be exceptional in every way.Medical History: Since my dog had her other knee surgery done two years prior (at another facility), the surgeon was interested in my dogs surgical history, even requesting and obtaining the electronic file. Learning that my dog had to have a follow-up surgery after her first knee surgery due to infection, the CVETS surgeon indicated that even more care would be taken to ensure that no follow-up surgery was needed after my dogs second surgery.Pre-surgery communication: During the pre-surgery consultation, the staff provided a detailed brochure of what the surgery would do, how it would resolve the problem, and what the usual recovery time is. Additionally, a detailed and itemized written quote was provided in advance of the surgery, so I knew exactly what the cost of the surgery was expected to be.Post-surgery communication: The staff called me as my dog was going into surgery and then again shortly after the surgery ended, letting me know how the surgery went. The next morning, the staff called me again with an update on how my dog did through the night. Hours for picking up my dog was also provided. A second written itemized invoice was provided, specifically what was different from the quote and why. Clearly written instructions for weekly physical therapy needs (what to do and how often) were also provided, completed with a website with a video of how to do the physical therapy. The three post-surgery prescriptions were also provided with thorough details: what the prescription did, how often my dog needed to take them.Overall: the facility and staff were amazing. I found the facility very clean, bright, spacious, with indoor and outdoor sitting areas as waiting areas. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. The staff and surgeon both clearly emphasized their desire for me to call them if I had any questions or any concerns at any point - before or after the surgery. I could not ask or hope for better service and care for my dog.

Never again. My new cat got into a fight with our other cat and her ear got cut. She was also limping a little, so my wife brought her in to CVETS. She was there from 8 PM to 4 AM, and didnt see a doctor until 2:30 AM. They prescribed 100 mg of gabapentin every 12 to 24 hours for pain. Now our cat has been sleeping all day, looks like she feels terrible, and is struggling to walk straight. After doing some research, we found that gabapentin can cause sleepiness and lack of coordination in cats, and overdose can cause ataxia and lethargy. They didnt bother to tell us that, so weve been thinking something is wrong and we need to take her to the vet again. We also found that a normal dose for a small cat is about 70 mg. So we may have been overdosing our cat for several days now based on the vets instructions. Ill never go back.

So for services rendered I was given back an animal that ended back in 1 day. With an infection and a large lump he was admitted for surgery again and promised my veterans discount. I was advised to do medical boarding which I cannot afford. I now have my animal at a veterinarian who is keeping it before surgery and doing surgery for less than half of what the first surgery was. Veterans beware and probably cant afford it anyway. Due to clerical errors I was not given my veterans discount, for 2nd surgery and now am being denied the discount.

Last night we had a bad experience but I believe it was due to a sudden influx of many cases. It was incredibly busy there. There was also one individual who made things worse. I wanted to speak on my experience here for April 2020 though. Our 12 year old german shepherd was very ill so we brought him to cvets. They brought him in immediately and got back to us pretty quickly. He was dying...They notified us via phone due to covid and told us everything we needed to know. We were then invited in to be with him...I am a disabled veteran and Charlie was my best friend and support animal. He was with me 24/7 and I absolutely loved him and still do. I had never cried so much and so hard as I did that day. As my wife and I held him and wept the veterinarian sat on the ground with us. I had glanced up at her at one point and saw she too was crying. I was inconsolable in those moments but I do remember how comforted I felt knowing this veterinarian cared enough for a family she just met to cry with us. I knew he was in good hands. She walked us through everything, gave us all the time we needed and explained the process. That event and kindness meant a lot to us. Thank you.

Cvets is absolutely AMAZING! I had to rush my 2 week old puppy Onyx here because fluid filled his lungs, sadly he didn’t make it. But The staff here was beyond supportive they were very considerate and kind considering I was an emotional wreck in the office. I paid to get Onyx cremated and I requested his paw prints back only because I couldn’t afford to bring his ashes home but by the grace of God somehow someway Cvets called me and told me they were given his ashes back anyway. I truly appreciate there honesty and allowing me to keep his ashes at no additional charge to what i already paid. I’m just so grateful to have gone to this location when I did. Very kind people and very very caring!!!

I am sure this will not be well received to those who like this vet service. It was the worst experience ever, non professional treatment for a professional price. We will never know if they performed the test they claimed and spent 6 hours and had to tell them to give our animal some fluids. We actually thought they may let our animal die. God help us to avoid ever going there for help again.

Recommended 5000x. This place is amazing. They are kind, compassionate, professional, clean, responsive and thorough. I brought in my boy (Chihuahua) for an ACL repair along with fixing his luxating patella. I was terrified! However, the people at the front desk taking calls are so sweet and understanding. It was pricey but considering what Dr. Wolfe did to help my baby was totally 100%, completely worth it! I got a pain free, happy, un-traumatized dog back from them. If anything happens again, or any of my other pets need help, i will be returning!

I gave one star because they didnt have a place for none. They care nothing for your pets. All they want is money. My daughter carried her dog in and told them the amount of money she had. They said ok and after he was checked she was told that it would cost 4000.00 to 6000.00 dollars to treat him. She was then told ahe would have to pay 4000.00 upfront before they would do emergency surgery. Without the surgery he would die. She asked if she could take him home and they wouldnt even release him unless she paid 100.00 more than what she told them she had. Like I said they care nothing for the animal. Its money or they die. Plain and simple.

My 3 month old pup was hit by a car . After being called ahead an hour before arrival , we arrived and no one assisted us with a stretcher or to carry the dog . They would not even look at my injured puppy until we made a large deposit . He was there for days as we try to figure out next steps . The doc was supposed to call us nightly to update us on his condition which never happened . My husband and I are both unemployed and we couldn’t afford the price tag of his care that they were asking . We went to see our boy 3 days after being admitted and a nurse said a local rescue would take on his care but we had to surrender him first . We asked several times for the name of the rescue but we’re never told . My husband called me from the parking lot talking about next steps and a nurse came out demanding payment . Wth we were in a very difficult tramatic situation . The nurse said we either need to make another large deposit for him to receive further care or we had to surrender him to this rescue . They wouldn’t give him any more care without money from us . The most ridiculous vet hospital I have ever been too and will never go to again . We couldn’t afford to give them another deposit snd we asked for 24 hours so we can figure things out . The nurse said we had to decide right then in order to receive care for our dog . I love my puppy and he needed care , so we had to give him up . They don’t care about their patients , just getting paid .

I took my little Chiweenie that was having some bleeding issues when she wouldn’t stop bleeding on her cycle . The staff were kind and courteous, even when they gave us her prognosis of Pyometra. She absolutely needed emergency surgery and was starting to get sepsis, and it was not very cheap. However, the surgery went well, and when we went to pick her up, they gave us a large sum of money back! They said they didn’t need a lot of extra items, and gave us the credit off of the quoted price! Who’s that honest?! I love them, I love how they ACTUALLY care about your furry family, and I for one will not hesitate to use them or recommend them in the future!

We took our 10 month old weimaraner on 6/5/21 because after 3 days he quit eating and drinking. As that Friday progresses when my boyfriend came home from work and we are getting ready to leave for cvets we notice a golf ball size mass on lower right jaw. We.were taking him because he wasnt eating, lethargic, and originally thought he may have an obstruction in his stomach. We stayed overnight in Columbia and picked him up at 9am. Dr.Amanda Edwards treated ZEKE. She did a physical exam, xrays, bloodwork and everything came back fine with no immediate explanation of what happened so she sent him home on 2 antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication with instructions to return in a week if it continued swelling or didnt subside to return for ct scan. It is 6/11/21 and Im happy to report his swelling is gone and he has made full recovery. Dr. Edwards was amazing and wonderful. We are excited for ZEKE and will definitely recommend her in the future .

My wife and I had to bring our dog to an emergency hospital and since our local emergency hospital in Augusta was at capacity for the night we had to make the drive to CVETS. We are so glad that we did and had a great experience with the staff and Doctor Stephenson. As soon as we arrived the staff met us at the door to get our dog looked at as soon as possible, Doctor Stephenson made sure to give us updates whenever possible and was very kind over the phone. While we waited in the parking lot for our dog, one of the staff members came around with water and pretzels for everyone. We would recommend this place to anyone in need of an emergency hospital.

A week prior to my visit with cvets my dog was treated at his regular veterinarian for skin allergies and a yeast infection in the ear. They prescribed antibiotics, allergy meds, ear cleaner, and ear drops. 2 days after starting these meds my dog decline drastically! Assuming he was having an allergic reaction to the medications I rushed him back to his vet the following morning only to find there was not a doctor on duty that day to treat him. Thats when I decided to go to Cvets. Upon arrival they stared extensive testing discovered he had an abdominal obstruction and needed surgery asap. 24 hours later he underwent surgery to remove the blockage and Im happy to say my dog was released 2 days after with no problems or complications and has since made a complete recovery. I cannot say enough about the staff, medical team, and doctors for the quality of work and care throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend cvets to anyone seeking emergency care for their animal. The quality of care was above and beyond exceptional and I am thankful things worked out in a way that led me to discover how amazing this place is! My dog fell in love with the staff and seeing that gave me comfort he was in the right hands. I highly recommend Cvets to anyone dealing with a medical emergency and treatment! Thank you Cvets for the quality of care Sway received during his stay! The comfort and attention he was shown before, during, and after his treatment was top notch! So awful. So terribly terribly awful. I ran in with a dying 4 hour old puppy that they could not save. The then have mom some meds to speed up the delivery of the last two. They then kept us in a room for another 45 minutes demanding a payment we told them we could not give them until the morning. We had to sign a dozen papers promising to come in in the morning and they told us we would have to take the deceased puppy home with us. They asked, why did we sign the paper if we could not pay. I said, you mean the paper the lady shoved in my hand and told me to sign as I passed her the dying puppy? Yeah. that one. as if I read it!? I am sure most will call this my fault. Maybe. But for me, at this time, it was so so wrong. So Im letting you know, If you babies are dying and you dont have the immediate money, youll have to find someplace else to go.Update 05-13-21: Now that I am somewhat level headed, healing, and dealing with the after math.1.) I had not stated in the original review that a doctor 1st came in and told us that there were 4 pups left inside MiLady to be born. But wait, then they came back 30 minutes later and stated, No - there are only two pups left in there. We see 2 skeletons (assume it was an Xray), and a heartbeat (sonagram?). This was the information they gave upon recommending that they give her a drug to speed up delivery and send her home. Upon investigation to find some answers (We drove 2 hours to a different vet), There was ONE DECEASED OVERSIZED PUP left inside her. An Oversized pup that could not make it down because of his size. An Oversized pup that may have had a chance to live TUESDAY if it were detected correctly and a C-section were performed. And2.) The Owner called us - not for apologies or condolences, but to THREATEN us that our choice were to either take down our negative review or he would charge us the full $2000 immediately ($2000 for NOT reviving an aspirating newborn (diagnosed from a video we showed the NEXT vet), and NOT diagnosing the mother correctly) and then send us to collection. And for the record, we CALLED before driving in to this place and told them we had an in destress birth happening and no funds until the end of the week and what do they suggest and well, you know what the suggestion was.

We brought our dog to this facility twice over a weekend. A five hour visit Friday afternoon-evening and then a evening visit on the following Sunday. The first visit was based on symptoms and the diagnosis seemed to be on par with the symptoms, relative to digestive distress. However, as the condition worsened over the weekend and we took the dog back Sunday night, the new vet (Dr. Edwards) diagnosed the dog with a back issue based on how she picked him up and recommended an MRI for apparent back pain, simply ignoring the treatment plan that had been provided to us less than 48 hours prior. She also claimed he wouldn’t drink water due to his neck hurting, disregarding the fact he ate four bowls of food at the same height and this had nothing to do with the digestive issue. She also alluded to the back pain being caused from him jumping off furniture, when the poor guy hardly moved all weekend due to stomach pain. She actively avoided questions regarding the digestive treatment plan we had been given on Friday and how that might impact her diagnosis.72 hours later the dog was fine following the original Friday treatment plan and showed no signs of the phantom back pain that cost us $102 in medicine we didn’t use because we clearly felt her diagnosis was wrong and severely out of context. The total cost for a stomach ache ended up being about $1,000 plus a horrible follow up.

CVETS saved my dog Isabelle and I can never thank them enough. When we arrived the front desk staff was efficient and fast and got her right into the building, while helping me fill out my paperwork as I was so distraught I could hardly walk. A woman named Suzy took her time to explain every step to me as we checked in. Because she was so sick we were allowed to stay in the lobby and received updates as we waited. Thankfully she became more stable, and we were able to put down a very reasonable deposit for life saving measures, and she came home to us three days later. I don’t think any human being would be saved for just $6000 so I was happy to give these amazing doctors that to save my best friend. She is still thriving and continues to do well. They even sent my girls records to my vet before I even asked them to and we were able to continue care with Dr. Spilker once we got out of the woods! Thank you to CVETS, all of the doctors and nurses, and the front desk staff. By saving Isabelle you saved ME. I don’t know what I would do without her! These people really care and when an emergency happens this is the place to be. With my work hours, the 24 hour option is helpful for picking up prescriptions. For a vet the prices are a little higher than your average local vet, but you get what you pay for. The place is huge and even has a little enclosed area outside. A benefit pre rona was the complementary water/coffee/snacks, nothing fancy just something that helps if you happen to need to be there a while. Theyve done well with social distancing and have a good system for getting your babies in and out. I would definitely recommend these folks.
