Overall, great experience. The lobby was great for waiting and they even have a courtesy shuttle in case you change your mind about waiting. I also thought the cost of the service in general was reasonable. At the end of the day, I dont regret doing my maintenance here instead of traveling out of town to a Lexus dealership.

Really needed a new (used) car and this was my first time buying one. Dean was really helpful and kind and gave me no pressure to buy a car. He found one in my price range that was really pretty and totally my style. Julio helped us with financing and he was really helpful to explain exactly what I was paying for. also gave us great suggestions for tequila 😜 would definitely tell friends to go here if they are buying a car!

I couldn’t have had a better experience! Dean Hovis knows how to get you what you want, even when you don’t know yourself😂He came in on his day off and spent four hours from the time he asked me a couple of questions, pulled up some specifics on cars, showed me what was coming, drove me through the lot, helped me pick out two possibilities, went with me while I drove them, pulled some numbers, got my trade-in to where I was happy, worked the numbers with Andrew , who is , also, amazing, filled up the car, changed my plates and then transferred all my Grandma sports stuff into my new Highlander !When I showed up all I knew is that I wanted a Toyota. This man has great insight into what will make a person happy. I hope he stays there forever as I would not go to anyone else!Andrew was such a kind, young man and very engaging. He worked very hard to get me where I wanted to be. Thanks to both of you... we are very happy with this vehicle and your service!

Went in to get my 25,000 mile service done as a college student that has never been to this location since I’m not from Columbia. The staff was friendly and accommodating and it was easy to schedule with them. Service was efficient and the communication was proactive and easy. Highly recommend!

Appt time 11am for oil change and tire rotation at 155K. I checked in at 10:45. I noted I would wait in lounge. I was called at 12:55, 4runner was ready......nearly 2 hours for simple maintenance service?? Really??And typical full checkup sheet says air filter and cabin filter needed attention. (I changed both myself only 5K ago!)I believe Ill use a neighborhood garage for these regular maintenance services.But the lounge area was comfortable....🙄

I went in for routine 5k mile maintenance and got just that. Had to make an appointment which was deceiving as I was waiting for my truck for nearly 3 hours. Additionally I specified I was waiting for my vehicle and the service assistant manager still called me 20ft away instead of personally speaking with me in person. None of this is particularly surprising thus an average rating, but would be nice if estimates are communicated for time so the shuttle offered by the dealership could be utilized in good consciousness of time efficiency.

He was friendly, knowledgeable, and the perfect person to buy a vehicle from. He even drove 2 hours out of his way just for paperwork to be signed. Got what I wanted, glad a manager stepped in to take over the conversation and sale otherwise we would have left - Zach the manager who worked with us was great. Salesperson did not do much to discuss or show all features and has not been able to locate the second set of keys I’m supposed to have. Not sure whether or not they will provide a second set of keys or if I’m going to have to buy, so that’s been frustrating.

Coby Lehmann was very knowledgeable and for being much younger did a great job of explaining all the Tacoma’s operational capabilities and extras. I explained that I did not want to settle. He found the exact vehicle I desired and worked for numbers that were in my capabilities. Great experience! This is my fifth Toyota Sienna and it is the best experience that I have experienced in my purchasing of any vehicle. Dean Hovis was professional and timely when communicating with me. All of the discussions regarding my purchase were by text or telephone…I will probably continue with this method in future purchases. I was able to drop off my FJ before my scheduled appointment which means they worked me when someone canceled. Additionally, it was more smooth so I didn’t have to worry about it any more. They called me with an estimate and it was less than that. It runs so much better than before it broke. Don’t buy gasoline when a Semi is pumping gas into the tanks below ground. It can mess up your entire vehicle and it isn’t cheap to fix. FYI the gas company does not pay for it. The service employees, however fixed it! (because you know that stank with all those gas fumes). Very dangerous work. Thank you 🙏🏽

Long time customer, but service has gone downhill. Called today, 9/2, to get my oil changed and was told the first opening was 9/27! Seriously? For a simple oil change??? The people who work in service are great so this is a management staffing problem. So....will take my business to Riley Toyota in Jeff City where I got an appointment for next week. And if it wasn’t for Danny Gingerich, I would take all my business to Riley because service is a big part of the sale!!

Although Carl was very busy in the service department, he took the time to confirm that the engine was beyond repair.So, we went to the sales department and Louie helped us to find just the right vehicle for my daughter. The dealership was clean, staff were polite and helpful. Stephen Terry, our salesman was really nice. Generally enjoyed the purchasing experience. We are pleased with the vehicle. The price and trade were reasonable. Two items of note on the other side. We paid cash and yet it took over 6 weeks to get the title and second key. We had to call several times to finish this detail. There was no follow up from the dealer. In fairness to them, they supplied the late fee without being asked. The other issue involved my desire not to sign the arbitration clause in the sales order. The dealer would not sell without us agreeing to arbitration. Without writing a treatise, arbitration does not protect a buyer. Neither is it required by any law. This is a standard order used by dealers and it is the first time one as refused to complete the sale without it for me. Interestingly, I bought a second vehicle the same day from another dealership owned by the same man. They did not require arbitration. In the end it is a good car at a fair price and a generally good experience, just a couple of wrinkles.

*1 star to 5” following up on my last review, they followed it up with great care taking care of the situation and took care of it. I appreciate what they did for me and my car.“ i went in two weeks in a row. Had to get a new fuel injector and spark plugs for my car because the check engine light came on. After I left the place it was working good then the next morning the check engine light came back on and it was working worse than when I brought it there.I’ve been trying to get a hold of someone there to talk to about this and I keep getting sent to voicemail and no one will talk to me. I have bought Toyotas from Machens since 1996. At the end of the warranty period, I always take them elsewhere. Nearly every time I have had them serviced at Machens, something was overlooked. Getting a “loaner” for the day has been nearly impossible. Still, because Toyotas are good cars, I do continue to buy them. For our most recent purchase (Feb. 2021), I wanted to use a different dealership, but my husband overruled me. The buying experience at Machens was again definitely lacking. They offered me $2,500 less for my Highlander than Volkswagen next door did, & were surprised when we sold it to that dealership. Our sales rep double-booked himself twice at our appointment times, so we had to wait. He insulted us by suggesting that we might not qualify for the best interest rate on a loan — I wanted to walk out at that point, but my husband overruled me. (Our credit scores are above 800.) Service has still not improved. We got a call from the rep reminding us to schedule maintenance, & were then told it would be two months before they could get us in. When we told them we were leaving on a trip, they kindly re-scheduled us. We had a fender-bender that wasn’t repaired in time for that appt., so we called to cancel. Left multiple messages over three days, had the rep paged, & were on hold once for 11 minutes & another time for 7 minutes. They still haven’t called us back.

When you know what car you want going in...it’ll be so much easier on everyone! This was my first time ever buying a car and I’m glad it did it with Machens Toyota. Louis helped a lot on the sales end especially since I already had the perfect car in mind. The test drive was quick and easy and soon enough I was in the financing office getting all of that mess worked out. Thankfully, I had Julio to work with so his knowledge and humor made the process seem quick and painless. I highly recommend!

I called three times on a Saturday to see if someone could take a look at my car (we were driving through from out of town), beginning when they opened at 8:30am. It was an emergency. The service department was too busy to call back (I had to call back twice and got the run around each time). They couldn’t fit me in, which would’ve been nice to know prior to when they closed for the day. Very disappointed in the lack of attention to detail or even a call back. Perhaps I am just used to superior customer service at my home dealership. I would never recommend this service department.

I would not take your car here to get looked at!! They told me possible while new engine and head gasket was blown. Was going to roughly charge me 6900 for repairs. Bring it to a trustworthy mechanic and he said nothing was wrong with either head gasket or engine. Said there was a couple things that do need repaired but total cost a fraction of the estimate from here. They will try to get you for every penny you have. In these times its down right wrong. I will never buy a car from these people and never bring my car in for service! They didnt even look at my car but somehow it needs a whole new engine!?Edited to add that I am out of 91 bucks for a false diagnostic!

This place unbelievable how it’s has this amount of good reviews, Joe Machens Toyota it’s look like place of gambling but it’s worse because everybody losing in this dealership, the only winer the dealership it self. If you want to buy a car from them don’t trade in your old car, and don’t buy used car from them, because they put a lot of maintenance bills, but it’s all fake, and they exaggerates on the cost of maintenance.The other thing don’t let them finance a car for you, bring your own finance from any bank.And be prepared to spend the whole day to buy a car from them, they don’t care about your time.When you buy a used car from them put in your mind to don’t come back to them to complain about something wrong in the car, you gonna see how they are rude with you.

Very disappointed in service advisor ( P.O.) I dealt with on my visit. Besides her unfriendly demeanor, she did not keep in contact with me and did not document a concern I wanted checked out. I had to return another day even though my car had been there from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. She walked away from me upon my return and I had to speak with another advisor. Luckily, the second advisor, Clay Stottlemyre, was extremely helpful and friendly.I have been going to Machens for a very long time and never had any issues. I want to continue using there services but will avoid dealing with her.

I felt somewhat mislead by the service person. He said with one other thing I okayed the cost would be $90. Nothing was said about rotating the tires. When the service was completed, the bill came to $l60 because my tires had been rotated. The tires were only two months old so obviously did not need rotation. He did knock off the price of the rotation but the bill wasnt about $90 but $ll0. It seems to me that everything that is to be done should be disclosed before the work not after.

So I got into an accident 2 weeks ago and I had to reply on my coworkers to make it to work and back home. The dealership that my car had a loan with, they weren’t helpful, left me in the dark! I was suggested to check out Joe Machens for my next car and at first I really wasn’t sure if this place was for me, that it was too good to be true but they put security about them and insured I was at the right place! The associate I made the service appointment with had the wrong name in the system, therefore, upon arrival to my service appointment the associate helping had to spend time trying to figure out what name it was under. As she pulled up my appointment, only two of the 8 plus issues I had explained to the associate when making my appointment were listed and only one was actually correct. I then had to try and remember the long list of issues I had previously explained when making the service appointment. Extremely inefficient. The associate helping me at my appointment was extremely helpful.

Paula took her time explaining everything in a simple way so that both my husband and I could understand what exactly needed to be fixed on my car. My salesman, Thad Torgerson was incredible as was Cody from finance. Great customer service guys! From initial contact thru final delivery Thad and the rest of the staff provided me with a first class buying experience! Not typically a fan of auto shopping but life throws us unexpected curve balls and 6 months after my initial purchase of my Camry my needs changed so I contacted Thad and less than 24 hours later I was in a new truck. Joe Machens service has gone downhill since we purchased our car 2 years ago. I am thankful that my Toyota care is up so now I do not have to feel guilty going elsewhere for my oil changes. I schedule appointments for all of my services and when I am given a timeframe, unfortunately I know I can double that as there is always an excuse to why they are running behind. A typical oil chance and inspection anywhere else in town will take an hour MAX....at Toyota, 2-2.5 hours. Horrible.

I had an absolutely phenomenal experience getting a car with Joe Machens Toyota. I worked with Sam Warfel who is hands down the best salesman I have ever known. You could tell he really cared about his job and making money for the company, but he was really focused primarily on customer service and helping me out. He spent a lot of extra time teaching me about the car, walking me through different paperwork processes, and we also just had a really great time chatting on a general level and getting to know each other and sharing pictures of our pets. I now consider him more of a friend than a Salesman I Used to Know. :) They did a wonderful job helping me with the finances, and what I never expected was that as I wasnt necessarily prepared to buy a car that day, I havent cleaned out my own car that I was trading in, and Sam took a lot of extra time and effort to help me clean out every bit of that car and he crawled through under the seats to make sure I hadnt forgotten anything. I cannot imagine better customer service or a better person to buy a car from then Sam. I do believe I have just found where I will be buying all of my cars in the future unless I happen to move out of the country. Even then, if shipping costs arent too bad, I might still come back to Sam and have him send the car across an ocean or two. LOL

Have a Prius for sale, had an $11,500 offer that I’m signing papers on from a different dealership. Machens calls me back asks for photos, I send them. Ten minutes later guy calls back, offers $12-12.5k.There’s some light body damage on the car and a couple indicator lights on, not big deals, as we’ve gotten 11.5 and 10.5 offered by other dealerships. I go to explain the damage to the man. He cuts me off “no no no, you’re not understanding, I said 12,000, maybe 12.5 but the bumper concerns me.” I insist on not wanting to be lowballed if I drive up there. He reassures me, stating he needs cars on the lot.I agree, switch my family switches our schedule around so I can drive 2.5 hours to Columbia a few days later. I arrive, they act like I’m the bad guy and offer me $7,600. You can’t make this stuff up. Shop elsewhere please. There’s a reason they have the worst rated mega dealership on Yelp.

Coby was a pleasure to work with and very upfront about the out door price. He responded quickly to emails and texts and made sure to get me the vehicle I wanted. There was delay with getting the vehicle, outside the dealerships control, but once it arrived Coby notified me and had it ready to go. The trade in process was straight forward and I received a fair value for my trade-in. The finance process was breeze and Andrew (I believe) was thorough with his explanations and expeditious with the paperwork. The dealership was clean, spacious, and well stock with drinks, coffee, and snacks (ICEEs and Ice Cream!)

Buying the car was an outstanding experience. Could not have asked for anything better. Had to have some warranty work done and was told an hour or less to replace a piece of weather strip on a rear window, well over 2 hours now and still waiting. I had another appointment that I will now be late for or miss and need to make another 90 mile roundtrip on a different day to complete that appointment. I completely understand everyone is short staffed, as I face the same issues in my career. Perhaps don’t schedule so many appointments in a day. Morale of the story if you need service plan on 3 or 4 times the estimated time and make it your only appointment for the day. End result almost 3 hours for a piece of weather strip

If you’re in the market for a new car, I would recommend Joe Machens Toyota. I had the pleasure to work with Sale rep Zach Hardin and finance rep Julio Perez. Bought a car a year ago. The process of finding and buying a car was just as expected. They were a little pushy but overall nice. However, if you have any questions about the car or need information looked up about it, they will be very rude and useless.

Worst customer service Ive ever seen at a dealership. Edit:**** I would leave less than 1 star, but it would not give me that option. The service department is great other than their outrageous prices on parts and labor (ie $38 for 1 headlight bulb) , but dealing with anyone in sales have given me nothing but problems since I started buying Toyotas in 2016. The only reason I went to Toyota was that my salesman worked there (Rapheal).Now that he is gone I plan on taking all of my business to Reilly Toyota in Jeffereson City. If I get another call from Machens I will gladly go through the last 5 years of terrible service in this review. I dont appreciate unsolicited phone calls trying to save face and sweep this all under the rug. ;)

Took my Toyota Tundra in because I was experiencing some issues with it. The service people quickly diagnosed the problem and had my truck fixed and back on the road in just a few short hours. They even replaced a couple of light bulbs that were burnt out that I didn’t know about, at no extra charge. You can tell that the service people here go the extra mile when they are inspecting your vehicle. Would highly recommend Machens Toyota service department!!
