I went in for an oil change and simply asked for what I needed done and it was completed in a very prompt and professional manner. I also had my 4 year old son with me and he very much enjoyed the complimentary refreshments in the waiting area. The staff was kind and the facility was clean and comfortable. They also had faith based artwork and was playing Christian music. 24 hours after my visit, I received a phone call and was thanked for my service. I had an emergent need of a Master Tech to diagnose my electrical issue. Christian Brothers performed a complete review of my vehicle and replaced my alternator at a competitive price. My repair was time sensitive, as it was an unexpected repair and I was planning to go out of town. Denika was excellent to work with. She kept me informed of issues and progress. I was given a comprehensive paper document of all suggested repairs/services and estimates for each item, along with a digital copy and virtual review of my vehicle. I have never before received anything so thorough. It allows for planning of time, cost, and priority of repairs. I will certainly look to them for those future services.

I was very impressed with Christian Brothers friendly professionalism and their extra conveniences. We used their key drop option after hours, paid over the phone and they dropped our car off at my wife’s workplace which was extremely helpful to us. We will use them again!

Absolutely love this place!! As a single mom I feel most places take advantage because Im not well versed in car maintenance. They give you a run down before they even begin and they provide a car service! On top of that the staff is so kind! If I could give them 10 stars I would!

They even let me take their mechanic out on a test drive to recreate the problem. I have full confidence in their work, their professionalism and their pricing. My first impression was that the waiting area was VERY clean and organized. The employee who checked me in was very friendly and professional. While we waited another employee offered my daughter some snacks and a drink. The service done on my car was done in a timely manner. Overall I was very impressed and will definitely be taking our vehicles back.

Christian Brothers Automotive (CBA) kept me informed at every step, sending estimates, photos, and videos throughout the day of what they saw and needed to repair. The staff was friendly and the shop was incredibly clean. I received a recommendation about CBA from a friend and would now definitely recommend CBA to others.

My vehicle was taken in last minute which was very helpful and great customer service. The issue with my vehicle was addressed and corrected. I was also made aware of other things that need attention at some point but was not pressured to get them done immediately. Very friendly and courteous staff.

Super nice people, very quick service. Offered me ride to and from shop. Could not possibly have better customer service. They also offer decent financing options. That financing option is especially nice because their prices are very high. They quoted me for 4 new tires and an alignment. A shop just down the road quoted me $350 less. They quoted me $170+ for a new battery told me I needed one but another shop said the battery was just fine.If you need the repair done quickly and care more about customer service than you do prices I cant recommend more. If you dont have an unlimited amount of money maybe find somewhere else.

Honestly Ive never worked with more dishonest people. They overcharged me on my services and they told me i needed new spark plugs cause my car was misfiring when this was not the case. I took it to my dealers mechanic and my car was just fine. They will lie to get anything out of you. Highly recommend you go somewhere else.

9/1/21 UPDATE - Post this review, I had a productive conversation with Bill, the owner within a couple of days. Outcome of this conversation:1. Bill emphasized his desire to resolve the issue and achieve my satisfaction and another opportunity to earn my business.2. Bill explained further the reasons behind the diagnostics miss. Im not necessarily in full agreement, but more ok with it.3. Where Bill offered their shortcomings in the area of;a. Explaining the diagnostics issue better.b. Finding a more competitive quote in the area of $600 vs. the initial $1,000 or modified $810.c. Find a satisfactory resolution that is fair and equitable for both of us.4. Bill had no issue with any of the other shops. Rather, further elaborated on his business model requiring a higher bill rate such as additional amenities (e.g. free shuttle). Yet, provide a better service than the dealer, Bill contends.5. Bill offered to repair my daughters car next documented major issue for free! Job was replacing rear brakes and rotors, a $445 value approximately that was completed yesterday to satisfaction.Conclusion, I updated the rating from 2 to 4 stars. Its not a 5 because I still believe labor rate is high and not appropriate for everyone or every job. I am grateful for Bills due diligence and willingness to take this experience as a learning opportunity to better his shop in total. END UPDATEFirst the facts,My daughters 2008 Honda Accord had check engine light come on while she was driving about a month ago, so she stopped on the interstate and we towed it to Christian Brothers Auto for further diagnosis and repair.They told us it was a bad battery and alternator and the total cost to repair including the diagnostics which was $120 was about $1,000 and with the $50 off valpak coupon, it was about $993. They did the repair.About a month later, a similar thing happened to the car and we towed it again to Christian Brothers Auto where the diagnostic was a bad starter and to replace at a cost of about $1,000. They did not charge us for the diagnostics.During the conversation with the service advisor; Tyler he mentioned that the previous diagnostic did not catch the bad starter because it was a further step after the alternator check in the diagnostics tree. I asked to negotiate the price further. To his credit, Tyler did his best to reduce the part price that then the amount came down to about $810. I asked him to give me the rest of the day for me to check around the Des Moines area for other quotes.I checked on the cost with three other auto shops that I either had experience with or had a referral to from a trusted contact and here are the results:Hilltop tire was about $725Sergeants garage was about $545Chamberlain Auto was about $472So I chose Chamberlain to do the job which they did the same day that I towed it there and was very satisfied with their aftermarket new part and job.The rest of this review is my opinion and would leave judgment to you. I feel that Christian Brothers auto should have caught the starter issue the first time around so we would have had a better picture of what was needed to be replaced and cost so we would make a much more informed decision.Second, once presented with what happened, I expected a much better deal so they can keep me as a customer fully knowing where I stood on the matter and that I have other vehicles that I could be repairing there.Instead, I discovered that their cost regularly is much higher than other shops around town that are as reputable as theirs. I also want to emphasize that I think Christian Brothers Auto is trying their best to be upfront and honest. However, their hourly labor cost is simply too expensive (I think $130) close to a dealer cost.The advice here is check around for competitive cost of repair. I will say that Christian Brothers Auto do typically explain the issues well and that they are the only ones I know of that will provide you with a detailed picture and video report that will help you understand what is the issue.

This shop is hands down one of the most competent and skillful shops in Des Moines . From the service writers, to the courtesy shuttle drivers, and technicians. Clean, organized, and professional in every aspect.Lobby area is nice and welcoming. I walked in on a Monday with a check engine light on. Computer system at the shop was a little slow, so the service adviser quickly resolved the issue by talking to each customer individually and writing down what they were there for. He didn’t get upset or angry. He was calm, patient, and professional and got the job done quickly and effectively.They took photos of actual concerns they saw while inspecting my vehicle. My struts had a leak and they could actually show me in a photo via text.They accommodated me with a courtesy shuttle from the shop back home during repairs with no extra cost.The communication was great even when trying to get ahold of hard to find parts. Every week I got a courtesy phone call that gave me an update as to what was going on with my vehicle and the next steps of what was happening.Work was done fast and done correctly 100%.How do I know this? Any shop willing to take the time to print off pre-alignment measurements of camber, caster, and toe and then show after alignment measurements that are within specs tells me they care about their customers.There is a ton of competition with “major chain” automotive shops in the neighborhood but none of them come close to Christian brothers. I will be going to Christian brothers for all my automotive needs from this point on.

I visited Christian Brothers for the first time today for an oil change and was helped by Chad. He was super helpful in booking the appointment on short notice and had us in and out of the shop quickly and for a fair price! Everyone was really friendly and honest! There was an older lady in the shop with some car issues and instead of pushing to fix everything right away, let her know which they should take care of sooner and which could wait. I appreciated the integrity.

Not only did the fix this massive screw stuck in my tire, but they stayed open late to get my car checked in and have water to my overheated pupper. Again I apologize that she is not a dainty drinker and left a small lake in your lobby. Zhora and I are very grateful for your fast and inexpensive fix of this problem. 🔩 Adding pics of the screw cause its unbelievable it didnt kill my tire and Zhora cause shes adorable! 😁

I felt very comfortable and welcome while waiting for the alignment of my car. I feel Christian Brothers are extremely confident in their knowledge and expertise and they came highly recommended. They sat down and explained the computer alignment readout before h work and showed menthe read outs before and after the alignment for comparison. I asked them if they could reset a service warning I’ve had for over a year which they did it with no problem and for free. Audi told me it would cost $60 to complete the reset. Also I feel they are very competitive on their oils changes. From now on, Christian Brothers will be my “go to place” for any service work I need. They truly made me feel at home, were very courteous and welcoming during the entire process. I also like the text updates during the entire process. The entire experience can be summed up in three word... “outstanding customer service” !!!!

I was impressed with them before, but what sealed the deal was an after-hours assist when we were out of town and grandma was watching our kids. When she got stranded in a parking lot with our vehicle and our kids, unsure what to do, Bill came out at closing time, took the vehicle, got it running, and returned it to our house all that evening. Christian Brothers Auto Repair has an organized professional feel because its relatively clean and the service advisor is attentive and accommodating. I was researching the repair history of a used truck I had bought and this shop had worked on it. I was able to get all the details I needed, no problem. That was a good experience.

They were able to take care of my battery replacement and check charging while I waited.

Extremely friendly with free soft drinks, coffee machine, free snacks and I was told they operate on Christian principles. The car inspection was free per certificate from Discount Tires. They gave me some quotes that were extremely pricey. $620 to replace three tie rod ends with wheel alignment. Replacing low beam bulb $88. Davids Automotive quoted $250 and $18 respectively. They are not willing to install parts provided by client.

Amazing service! Fast repairs, pretty decent pricing and just all in all nice people. Even offered to pick me up when my car was done. I have a few other issues with my car that still need fixed and Ill be going back there to get them taken care of.

Everyone at Christian Brothers was terrific. We were traveling from Indiana and our car broke down. They communicated well with us and also worked with us on options to fix the car. The shop was super clean and everyone was very professional. Their prices were higher than we were used to, but since my husband is a car guy, we soon knew and had no doubt of their knowledge of our 01 Saab and the possible problem with the car. Great people. I came to Urbandale, Iowa to move my in-laws to Texas. Car battery was dead, so I had to walk to get a new one. Snow everywhere, 37 degrees out. Young man there asked if he could put it in the car for me, I told him it’s going in my back pack, cause I’m on foot. He immediately said he would give me a ride.Unknown to them I had a double hernia surgery 4 months prior, and I have nerve damage that is extremely painful, so that walk back was going to be dreadful!The next day I came back to change the oil, obviously time is an issue and they got me right in and right out! Brought in my truck which is been told needed extensive repairs by another shop... it did not. Christian Brothers found the needed repairs, did them fast and extremely well!! I was told my brake line was a “bear,” but they did it and it’s excellent. The whole staff is top notch!

I brought my enclosed trailer here because my wheel was about to fall off as I was driving down the road. I knew this was not what they normally take on but Bill went above and beyond, and said he would get it figured out. He called around town to find me a new axle and they got it repaired that day. I don’t know what I would have done if they said they wouldn’t take on my problem. I will definitely refer my friends and family to these guys!!

Very professional and friendly place. Their charges are reasonable. The Technician fixed the AC in my car in less than an hour and even replaced a plug for free. They also did a complimentary inspection on everything else and I was happy that they didnt find anything wrong. This was a huge relief because we know how some mechanics seem to always find something else that needs fixing. Id recommend this place to my friends and family.

They were very friendly on the phone when I was setting up my appointment and when I was dropping off my car. They used their courtesy shuttle to give me a ride to work, sent me photos and updates throughout the day, and then called me the next day to thank me for my business. Very friendly I love the Christian atmosphere everyone was very professional my daughter turned to me and said Mom I think we found a good place to take the SUV I like the fact that they are straight up .....update I went in for my appointment as scheduled today 10/22/20I was presented with my estimate but it was way over cost and with the person providing me the estimate he misunderstood I misunderstood we both got frustrated it did not end well he actually walked inside the other room slammed down the clipboard onto the table after that I got to talk to a different manager and I explained to the other manager that I was not trying to have an attitude I was trying to have an even tone with my voice tone and due to the fact that we both got frustrated and my intent was not to walk out without a bill they waived the $129 fee but I do not think I will be going back unfortunately I dont think the company is a good fit for me or my budget I do realize we both have to keep our actions in check thank you very much in this situationAnd I was also unaware that they cater to the elite the upper crust they do not cater to Christians who are suffering along the poverty line or below the poverty line way too expensive also I asked if they could tighten up my motor mounts they refuse to do that without any reason I was not given any reason dont know why I was willing to pay for it but if they didnt want to help me out with that eirher I guess they dont did not want me at their establishment so much for a christian-based company

Dentist, buying a car, and maybe trusting, using a reliable car repair and maintenance shop!Well I found Christian Brothers over a year ago in Clive, Iowa, and have long forgotten the other oil changing, car service businesses that I have used in the past. WHY?I found them extremely trustworthy, (don’t try to sell you items not needed), dependable, very reasonable priced especially with all the extra service, communication, they provide!I have 5 autos that we take to Christian Brothers for all of our car service needs. I had tires replaced 2 days prior, and was referred to Christian Brothers for a wheel alignment. My old tires, I realized the inside of my front right tire was bald. I got new tires and knew I had to get a front end alignment. Well, I went in and didnt even mention that fact other than I needed an alignment, and they came to me and asked me if I had issues with the front right tire on my old tires. I definitely did. They let me know the tie rod was loose and they could tighten it back up for me which would last temporarily, but eventually would loosen up again and eat up my brand new tires. They replaced it. They also did a courtesy inspection and emailed it to me and told me if I ever want any of the minor stuff fixed, feel free to come back. They didnt pressure me or push me into repairing anything that wasnt absolutely critical. Even though my brake pads need replaced, they didnt push me on that either. I absolutely love that and I will definitely come back. For those reasons alone, Im not going anywhere else except Christian Brothers. Actually, I need to get a quote on the brake pads now! My car needed larger repairs for the first time since moving to Des Moines, so I was a bit cautious in trying to find a good mechanic and CBA did not disappoint. I got my car in and just an hour or so later they sent me a report of everything they noticed complete with pictures showing what was wrong and an estimate of how much it would be to fix individual issues. The prices were quite reasonable and they didnt try to hard sell me on anything. Overall I had a great experience and will definitely be coming here again for any other repair needs.
