This was a weird instance to give a five star rating because the computerserver was down and it was taking very long time to finalize the paperwork and receive our car. The staff worked really hard to get things done and tried to keep the clients, if not happy, at least calm. The woman that took care of our car reservation (I have memory issues, so her name escapes me) even managed to help us upgrade our car to the coolest one at the wedding! Yep, the Budget staff at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport earned our gratitude that day!

Overall I enjoyed the experience provided along with the vehicle. The reason I gave 9 is because the smell of the car was really strong . It gave me and my husband a headache whenever we drove. Not sure if it was another drivers perfume but it smelt horrible. We had to drive with the windows down. The smell went away after a day or two but, If its the cleaner you guys are using dont use so much!

This was the worst rental car experience Ive ever had. It took an hour waiting in line to get the car after my flight. I was emailed saying I would be on the Fast Pass board. I was not. After waiting and waiting I got my car and there was no apology for me having to wait so long. No explanation. The car smelled like cigarette smoke. When I dropped off the car, apparently Budget wasnt accepting returns. There was a small sign that said go to Avis. It was hard to see and me and other customers circled trying to figure out where to go. Could Budget put out a larger clearer sign? Could Budget have emailed me? Upon return, it was still confusing, one employee saying leave the car another saying to wait so she could see my rental agreement. Rude, lax, and horrible service and experience all around. The woman taking my turn in had the nerve to ask for a tip. Based upon this experience, I will not use Budget again. Id love to have a rep reach out and try to make it right but I will it expect anything.

Easy check in...nice, clean vehicle...good price.The only issue was that I was checking out at 5am...there was no one there but it would have helped to have some signage to direct where I should park and where I should leave the keys. Otherwise...it was great.

Ciara at the counter started off the experience with a wonderful greeting and great attitude. She went above and beyond by offering a free upgrade from the economy model I reserved. Then, she called service and had a freshly cleaned and fairly new vehicle brought to the door for me. Never seen that before! I returned the following morning at 430am and I left my phone in the car. I remotely put a message on the phone for anyone to call my wife if found. Jonathan Moore found the phone, called the number, answered when I call the phone and left it at the counter so my daughter could pick it up. Now that is service that will keep you as a loyal customer!!! Kudos Budget for hiring these outstanding people...

One hour wait for my rental. There seemed to be no urgency to process the customers. There was one efficient and pleasant counter person but I did not get her. Upon returning the car I drove to the Budget return all entrances were blocked. I drove around again and could not find the return until I saw on one of the cars blocking the return, written on the windshield on thin lettering to go to the Avis return. The Avis return was before the Budget return and had no indoctrination to return the Budget cars there. So it was another lap around the rental car facility.

Absolutely horrible service! I’m a budget fastbreak member and they never registered the reservation I made in advance. My family ended up waiting 2 hours for a car that I should have been able to pick up right away. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude!!!. I’m going to be switching car rental companies going forward! Budget needs to do better for loyal customers!

My wife left her iPad in the rental auto when we flew out of Cleveland airport. We didn’t even miss the item before Budget contacted us, ascertained that is was ours, and arranged to ship it back to us in California at no cost to us! I appreciate good service and the folks here, especially Josh and the young female, sorry to say I’ve forgotten her name but her and Josh went beyond the expected to provide the needed! Their courtesy and knowledge has now put y’all in my number one choice slot when I rent a car in the future!Bravo

This is the worst rental car experience I have ever had! I travel frequently and rent cars all the time. Getting your car rental usually takes forever no matter who rent from, the people at the counter often are clueless, so I usually anticipate that the car rental counter is not going to be the highlight of my trip, but I have never experience people who were as rude as they were at this location. The guy at the counter just stared at me when I walked up. There was no how can I help you.. He said nothing until I told I was there to pick up my car. He shoveled chips in his mouth while he processed my reservation. THe lady behind the counter was rude to the customer beside me. The customer told me that they are always like this here at this location. If you fly into Cleveland, dont use this company (or avis because avis owns budget as well).

Even though only one agent for pickup and line was growing, she got the two lines moving. (still took at least 20 min to get to the desk to be helped). At least when we got there, Barbara did a very nice job explaining items and answering our questions patiently. We did get very nice car in the class we rented and it was clean. On return, man was quite helpful.

You need a REAL phone number! I have been trying to get a hold if this location for hours. I have waited over 30 minutes to get someone NOT at this location, only to have them disconnect from me moments later and then have to start the whole process over again!

The two employees that were working when i rented my car were so bad and werent even working when i walked up to the counter and they first ignored me. they didnt know what they were doing. they gave me a car that was locked and wasnt the correct vehicle. I then had to go back two more times because they gave me thye wrongg vehicle the second and third time.. i only got the correct car from the exit gate attendant!!!! it. was a horrible experience for me and it was late in the evening! I hope someone reads this that cares about customer service. Plus the car required service and wasnt done.

The attendants at the desk were so helpful. when they saw the amount of luggage I had they suggested a different vehicle than the one I had reserved. The upgrade was a perfect fit, and they were able to find a promotional rate that accomplished the upgrade AND saved money! Thanks to Shavaughn I was able to complete my trip on time, comfortably, and on budget! That is a prime example of good customer service! Thank you Shavaughn!!

Hassle Free When I needed a car I had no problem getting it right when I needed one. Everything was easy and my car was very satisfying no problems while renting and if I did need assistance it was only a phone call away. Yes I would use Budget Rental again in the near future. Oh yeah the price was right also.

I am a Fastbreak member, I have rented on two occasions in Cleveland, OH, both times my name did not appear on the Fastbreak roster. I was forced to stand in line for over 40 minutes to talk with a reservation agent. This was totally frustrating. I have another rental on September 30th in Los Angeles. If the same situation occurs, I will terminate my relationship with Budget.

Horrible experience. My flight was delayed. I called the Budget location at the Cleveland airport and I was assured that I would still be able to get the car I reserved. When I arrived the location was closed. The next morning, the agent at the counter explained to me that the customer service agents are always giving customers false information. I will never ever choose Budget rental again. Also, the Enterprises car rental was open for their customers with a late flight. I think Enterprises would be the way to go.

I arrived at the Location I prepaid for everything. When I arrived the lady said card didnt match. After trying twice she said it will cancel my trip if she did it again and it didnt go through. I pulled up original reservation and should her she had the right card. She then shrugged her shoulders and say oh I made a mistake. Wow Im from Louisiana on vacation and we are in Ohio. A mother and her son alone in a state for the first time. She could care less. The reality is she sent the lady whom she was working with to the other side and then called me up when I was next in line for the other lady. Who didnt have a bad attitude. She also spoke badly about other coworkers in front of a long line. If you dont want to be at work dont go why try to ruin others vacation?

God! Extremely and extremely rudest pregnant lady. Just got here to pick up car. The car was smelling cigarette and weed so bad that I needed to head back to the counter to ask for another one. The lady didn’t even apologize. She was so rude. And told there is another car ready next. When we got back to the pick up location, there is not any available. I again went back to the lady and ask where the car was? She said it’s still being cleaned and would take couple of minutes. Really??? No apology, no courtesy!!! Future renter, best of luck with this zero star place.

TERRIBLE!! Car was only 3/4 full of gas when I checked out for my 1 day rental. Upon returning, I told the Budget agent I was only returning 3/4 full back and he said No problem, dont worry about it. Well, as you can guess, a $47 charge appeared several days later for gas. THUS BEGAN THE SAGA of trying to rectify my bill. First, the administration office phone # for Budget is DISCONNECTED. Great. Then you call the 1-800 number. You get transferred around the world to various call centers where no one can help you. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told there wasnt any available and that they would get back to me in 48 hours. There is NO LOCAL NUMBER to call in Cleveland, as I simply wanted to talk to the agent who checked me out. On and on. You can guess the difficulty in trying to rectify this. BEWARE OF RENTING HERE.

Very disappointed with Budget!! Rented a Standard size SUV that they told me was outside, went and sat in the car to wait on my keys, some other customer had the keys looking for the vehicle by clicking the alarm. Gave me a Tacoma pickup truck that I wouldnt be dead caught in. Let alone I was on a tight schedule that I couldnt argue with what they gave me. Plus I paid more for the prepaid vehicle and got a lower vehicle to rent. So disappointed with Budget. Dont think I will ever rent from the ever again. Its always something with you all. This isnt my first encounter with Budget. But it will be my last!!!!!!

The agent at Cleveland airport was by herself with a large line. She handled it quickly, professionally, and was very friendly. Just refreshing to have such great service like this. Bringing car back was easy. Very happy. Wont go back to enterprise.

Why? Why is there a system in place that has three or four slow, unmotivated employees retrieving dozens of cars. Is there really no way for customers to just go get their own cars the way it works in 90% of rental locations? The staff all has a completely uncaring, glib attitude about attitude about what a nightmare this location is - smirking and joking while all the customers are fuming. It literally is so sad it’s funny.

Upon Check In, the agent asked if we would like to upgrade to a Ford F250 for $15/day extra. We agreed and went out to get the truck. The space she sent us to had a different vehicle in it. We went back in to get the agent. She came out and looked for the Ford but could not find it. She gave us a Toyota. We assumed we would not be charged for the upgrade. However, when we returned the vehicle, she had charged us for additional liability insurance, which we had declined. The agent would not remove the charge because we had signed. Bad on us for not reading the contract more closely before signing, but we were in a hurry to get to a wedding. We ended up being charged an additional $50+ that we did not want and still did not get the Ford pickup. VERY bad customer service!!!

The person at the counter was super helpful and walked us out to show us where our car was and where to return the carMost times they stay behind the counter tell you, but dont take the time to show you. There was no one to help me with basic instructions on operating vehicle. Not even on how to open the trunk. Driving a new car was foreign to me. Thank God 4 google & that the manual was in the car, just to adjust seat so I could see to drive. Spent more time trying to learn car than I cared to.

Well for starters, I made my reservations a few months ago for a convertible vehicle. Unfortunately, unfortunately, my reservation was completely incorrect from the making model of my vehicle selection to the cleanliness of the vehicle. There was a scratch to the passenger side Door, I was not made aware of!The vehicle was filthy in the back seat on the floor and there just so happens to have been a used condom behind the headrest the rear car seat so needless to say Im pretty sure youre not shocked as to why the score was a 0!

I turned my car in early and even told the desk person Id be early when I first picked up the car. She said it will be taken care of when car dropped off. NEVER was I told there was a time limit on returns, when the clock would change to a new day for FULL day charge. I assumed (bad idea) that there was some kind of proration- maybe in half days or quarter days. NOPE. Dropped my car off over 12 hours early BUT 12 minutes after the grace period so full charge for a day. Posting this on other sites so others will be fully informed and possibly chose other rental agencies.

At the time of pick-up, the agent misrepresented the charges. He asked if we wanted the damage waiver which we understood to mean that we were waiving additional insurance because we are fully covered. The cost of $30.99 was not discussed however when we questioned the difference of $200 between the estimate we received and the contract total, we were told that this was a deposit that would be refunded upon the return of an undamaged car. No deposit was noted in the contract but we learned later that in fact an additional $200 was added to the charges to our credit card. The transaction was based on false information, a confusing contract and deceptive methods.

When I returned my car on Wed May 19, 2021 the guy in the lot who scans the car said that the handheld device is not working properly and is showing the tank on a 1/4 when its actually full. So he manually wrote full on the rental agreement and told me to show my paperwork to the lady inside and everything would be fine. There was a long line inside and I had to catch my flight so I couldnt wait however, the lady working the desk took my paperwork and assured me everything was fine. The next day I get a charge on my credit card for $131.63 for gas!!!! I called customer service just to get the run around! I usually rent from enterprise. This is my 1st and last time renting from budget!!

I had made my reservation weeks in advance when I get there they offered me smaller I told them no because the car I had reserved would seat up to 5, was told could squeeze the 5th one in .. no .. Then I had to pay extra for a 5 seater it was a 2019 plain jane with only a back up assist. then when I get home the change oil light came on. Spoke to numerous people to vail no answers. I asked for the complaint line and never got that. At this pointe I gave up and decided to never rent from Budget again. I honestly cant believe I was treated this way. Never again

There was a discrepancy in the name on the rental car and I was not allowed to changed the name or add an additional driver to the rental, resulting in me having to rent a second car for MORE than I rented the first car for. The car was rented using a credit card with MY name on it, and the name listed did not match. No discount offered, no refund of any sort available for a car that sat in your lot. At that point I tried to rent a car at the desk and was told it would be a little over $700 to do so. I went on line and reserved a car for approximately $400. My final bill however was over $500 (with no penalties or damage, just hidden fees). So really I feel I was lied to, taken advantage of and ripped off multiple times in this transaction and will NOT be doing business again unless someone is willing to make some type of arrangement. I will be sure to tell people about this on social media as well. Poor business. Simple fixes would have alleviated all of this.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had renting a car. When I returned the car to the lot, there was no one there to check me out. When I got to the counter, the attendant informed me they had no record of me returning the car. After going back outside, apparently someone had moved the car without scanning it in. They eventually found the car parked on one of the side roads. A big mess. Avoid using them!

The vehicle that I picked up had a maintenance light that was on as soon as I got in the car, it had a warning for tire air and it was not clean at all (it looked like some was sprayed on inside window). I had to stop immediately to clean it off so that I could even see to drive. The drop off this morning was a fiasco I had to loop around three times to figure out how and where to drop it off.

Quick and easy to pick up the vehicle, but a nightmare when returning after hours. We returned the vehicle around 4:20am and went about our way to the airport after the security guard told us we would get our receipt via email. No email and Ive been hung up on 3 time and transferred to lost and found twice while calling the front desk. Need the receipt for work.

Car smelt like smoke (burn marks in headliner next to sunroof), was filthy, had vibration at 60 mph, just gross.Chrysler 300m inside would have been nice, but there were dirt hand prints on the front and back seats, feet prints on the front windshield, burn marks on head liner, car smelt like smoke and mold. Car also had a terrible vibration. Front drivers side at 60 mph. Out side of car was filthy as well.Best part when explaining to the person at the counters they both(outgoing and incoming) calmly looked at me and said sorry about that. The staff and their service were terrible. First, as we waited in line to pickup our vehicle rental there were two service representatives (rep) assisting people. As we slowly moved up to the front of the line and one rep was free she treated us rudely by angrily lifting her hand and saying something inaudible to me and my wife. Then the other rep laughed loudly while looking at me and my wife, even the customer who was being attended slowly turned and looked at me with sadness of what was said. Not once did the first rep say anything to say she was no longer available. All she did was walked around the service counter area, slowly arranging paperwork and moving stuff around the counter. The rep just lingered around and made it obvious she was not going to assist me and my wife. Then the second rep finished with her customer and called us next. It was quite obvious the 2nd rep was bitter and upset towards me and my wife. As the 2nd rep was inputting information another customer, who previously complained about a Kia SUV that smelled with cigarette smoke, walked up to where we were again complained. The 2nd rep almost wanted to push me aside to attend to them. We finally got our vehicle and it was the Kia SUV that reeked of cigarette smoke. It was the vehicle the other customers complained about. So this is how your Cleveland Airport staff treat people. I will make sure i let other people know how rude your staff are and advise them to avoid your company.

To start the car was dirty. Once on the toll road the car started to shake, the faster we went the more it shoke. Stop to check, the tires were BALD and threads showing. Never seen anything like it on a rental car. Things are bad right now, but this was unacceptable by any means.

I rented 2 cars 2 months before my trip. After over 2 hours, a cancelation, and a third rental, I left with 1 car then another cancelation, it was an awful experience. I guess the renter should be told that each driver needs a credit card in their name doesnt matter who rents them. Nobody reads the rental agreement, should betold or shown somewhere when renting. The return through Avis was great

When I went out to the lot I did see a VW Jetta in the lot so it appears that the person who told me none were available was not accurate.

I arrived on time for my reservation and waited in line for 2 hrs which resulted in the other reservations I made that involved the rental car to be pushed back several hours for the next day. I brought car back late but still on the expected date and was charged an additional $127.82 for a mistake that the Budget company caused and apparently I have to pay for. Not happy at all.

Rented a car on 7/25/21. And was given a car with the engine light on and light saying service car. I didnt even leave the lot. I asked for a diffrent car and no one in lot knew what to do. They said they were new and didnt offer any help at all... i was finally given another car and got less than 10 miles away and the back wheel started making a loud noise. I took car back with 20 miles on it and was first told i would still be charged for the hole day then after talking to manager the rate was adjusted for the time i had the car. Needless to say my trip had to be canceled and i would not recommend this place or avis since they are the same company they do not maintain their cars

I rented a car last weekend for a trip to Cleveland and the experience was not great. Customer service was good and I was given the appropriate car, but the inside of it was slightly dirty. When I turned the car on, I got a warning that maintenance was needed. Over the course of the weekend, the windshield got dirty and I discovered that the wiper fluid was completely empty. This seems like a very basic thing to check before checking out a car to a customer.

Charged for upgrade and was never informed of extra charge. When called about it, was advised I signed the agreement. I think this is a sneaky tactic. Why would I upgrade for a car I rented for a few hours. Then charged almost $16 for gas when I filled the tank next to the return location. Nickel and dimed.

Theres a car shortage a severe car shortage. That means you like I have to put up with cars that are not in good shape. Every car that Ive had and Ive changed three cars have some kind of mechanical issue where it does not drive smooth the first one it Dodge Journey shook violently when you drove it down the road in excess of 60 mph. I treated that in at Lansing airport for another car a Kia optima this one had the most horrible damaged CD joint grind that you ever heard going down the road I expected the car to fail luckily I made it to Cleveland and I was able to change it for another Kia Sorrento. Finally this car only had a mild vibration driving down the road but you got the nice shake when you pressed on the brakes obviously one or more discs are slightly warped. I was in rental car hell. Can this happen with other rental cars probably. My experience was not positive oh and the prices for cars now are much higher than ever before. My advice if you get a car that is not to your satisfaction try to exchange it as I did.

Fast break members like me get screwed by budget at cleveland hopkins airport. For years their fast break kiosk has been out of order, but the fast break sign that leads people to this dead end is still out. So if you follow their sign, everyone else behind you from the shuttle gets in line, and instead of a speedy service, youll end up with a much longer wait time. Its so pathetic this company cant at least at take their sign down or get their kiosk fixed.

Note that you have to shuttle to this place, its not on airport property. Be prepared for long lines, they are understaffed. Also, they charged my credit card for the rental and an additional $120 deposit two hours before I even picked up the car. Theres free cancellations, why was I charged in advance? Called Budget and waited on hold too long, hung up. Ive used Budget at other airports with no problem.

Excellent vehicle, the only concern was our flight that should arrive in Cleveland at 7PM got delay and landed at 10:30PM. Since I tried to talk to the front desk in CVL l, to ask to ket the keys at least... customer service was on the number of the reservation was useless. Thanks to AVIS that helped us with our reservation.

The car we rented was not cleaned before we got it. It smelled like cigar and had old food on the floors and carpet. When we brought it to budgets attention their solution would have landed us with a smaller car so we had to clean it ourselves thus is unacceptable anytime let alone during covid my vacation was tightly planned and we just didnt have the time to take the car back and spend more time waiting for it to get resolved so we dealt with it. Not really how I want to spend my hard earned money the car left 2 of us feeling nausea and coughing

DO NOT RENT HERE. I dropped my car off here 2 days ago. Whether it was because of a malfunction or the cold weather, I was unable to get my gas cap to open (it just made clicking noises and remained locked shut.) On dropping the car off, I explained to the associate that I was unable to put gas in the car, but if hed help me fix the cap Id happily go fill the car. He told me dont worry about it, its no problem! Well, today they charged me $10 *per gallon* for gas.This is absolutely unacceptable. If I am unable to put gas in the car through no fault of my own AND your associate says dont worry about it, why am I being charged?! To make matters worse I called the phone number listed for this location and every single option on the phone tree goes back to the national call center. You cannot actually talk to someone at this facility without physically going in, which of course I dont have time to do expediently, though Ill absolutely be taking valuable time out of my day (not to mention put myself at undue risk for covid exposure) to go talk to a manager in person because thats just highway robbery. Unprofessional, unacceptable, and literally doubled the cost of my rental. DO NOT rent from these people.

Employee was rude, didnt try to help me solve my problem, which was that I was $6 short with taking a $300 deposit and told me theres nothing he can do to help me out and that I pretty much was getting too good of a deal. Then ignored me and stared at the screen until I left. If that is company policy, then I will never go there again.

Because when I picked up the car, it had not been checked. I discovered that the locks did not work; when I called to report this, I was told to call roadside assistance or return the car. I could not do either since I was working 24/7. Then when I started the car on the day I was returning it, the tire pressure indicator light came on. I reported this to the person to whom I returned the car. She just said everything was ok. A week later, I received a letter informing me that I was going to be charged $160 for car repairs. I called to report that I definitely would not be paying for Budgets poor car conditions.

Overall pleasantly made the process so convenient and very fast and great customer service for making the rental process smooth during a very unexpected time in needing to travel to my fathers funeral.The young girl and young gentleman were extremely very kind professional team members.I will definitely only use Budget only in the near future if I have to rent a vehicle again! I had a problem with my rental and customer service told me that they could not help me his name is Alex and I was not able to speak with a supervisor and nor was I able to get in contact with the roadside service. I found that to be totally unacceptable the manor in which I was treated.I do believe that there needs to better training of your customer service representatives and value your customers.

If you’re considering Budget, I don’t have a better word of advise for you than to pick another company. The Cleveland “Busted” was not open when we arrived mid day during the week... there was an hour wait next door at Avis. Luckily after our hour wait which was looking more like a 2-3hr wait, we were lucky enough to have a budget staff member show up and open one single register. Once we got the keys we had to walk out into a sea of cars and the brick cold to get our rental. We weren’t upset about the walk but it was unanticipated. Once we got the vehicle on the road we realized the tires were completely BALD. And on top of that the windshield wiper spray was recently filled with water and the lines were frozen. We requested another vehicle but we had to call because the one lady inside was now swamped with customers (shocker). After calling customer service they recommended we go to another budget location and pick up a safe car to drive. We went to multiple locations that said “we have vehicles come on by!” And when we showed up both times they were out of cars. So we were stuck with the vehicle and had to cancel all our plans for the week because we had a car that was unsafe to drive in the rain, let alone the snow storm I had to drive through... we were sliding everywhere on the road, and the customer support team didn’t care about anything of it. They said they would give us $30 for the inconvenience... but reality all we wanted was to get home safe to our families. They should have refunded our money so we could have got a different rental car or company while we were near by. But no we got told to run around to random budget locations to be let down. I would not go near budget. I would never recommend them to anyone I cared about.

We reserved the vehicle at least 2 months before wanting it and paid for it. When we went to pick it up we were told they didnt have it because of over booking. After objecting we were told there was one being worked on in the shop and that it would take an hour to become available. Ten minutes later we were told it was available, We got a 15 passenger van instead of a 12 passenger van.

I recieved a great vehicle at a great price for the 1st week as a fast break member. I liked the convenience of extending online, however it was expensive. I wasnt 100% sure if the extension took the second time. The agents are friendly.

This unexpected trip to Ohio for a funeral, already an unhappy situation got worse upon arriving to rent my vehicle. Your booth was closed upon arrival (4:00PM, and I was directed by a sign to go to the Avis booth. The gentleman working the booth alone, was obviously unprepared to be working your booth as he struggled the whole time, while further frustrating the huge line behind me. My rental fee was supposed to be $347, but they added some sort of extra deposit, which brought it up to $507, but when he applied the hold ofn my debit card, he actually charged my card four times, which held up over $2,000 of my money. When I first called they told me they couldnt do anything to remove the extra charges until I turned the car in, which left me with no cash available while I was with my grieving family, this was totally embarrassing that I couldnt offer any help or support to my family. After two days of arriving home, my account finally balanced out, but as I was assured several times, no manager ever called me to help, which just made me even more upset. I would think that after all of this mess, Budget wouldve at least offered the rental vehicle to me at no cost, but nothing was ever offered. In my opinion, this is just a horrible experience and terrible customer service. What are you going to do about it!?

Loved the attendant at the desk. she had a customer that was upset with a policy that the customer didnt realize was a policy. She handled the situation quite well and respectfully as the customer was a little disturbed to have to pay the extra fee. being a public servant myself, I really appreciated see that situation not escalade to something more serious, and i would say that Carlise was the main reason the situation was handled correctly. Carlise is a great asset to the company and i hope to see her smiling face when i return to Cleveland later this year. Keep her as an employee and give her a raise or promotion

Very disappointed. I was in a hurry, so I had to grab the car and go. The car wreaked of cigarette smoke and there was a cigarette burn in the drivers seat. The car had substantial dings, scrapes and scratches. Mechanically it ran well. Price was NOT budget. Overall a disappointing experience.
