If I could rate a negative I would. They were supposed to come on a Sat. Didnt come. Backup day was Sun. Didnt come. Got a message Sun saying my service was complete, how did they do. Complained through the app and it was reschedule for the Mon. Didnt come. Called early on Mon and was told someone would for sure be there by the end of the day. Called at the end of the day Mon and was told someone would for sure be there on Tues. Didnt come. Called on Tues to cancel the service. The next Monday, I was charged for the service that never happened. I called for a refund and was told to email a case number to an email they gave me because the customer service line cant actually do the refund. Currently waiting on my money back.

Customer service was great right from the beginning we scheduled, someone to come out within the next two days and everything seemed to be great. However its been almost 3 weeks and 4 to 5 reschedules all done by the company and no one has yet mow my lawn. The requirement is for a minimum of three mows before you can cancel and given that we have yet to have any the customer service was wonderful and assisted us in canceling anyway. Based on the customer service calls alone I would love to have worked with this company. However given that no one has shown up to do any actual work yet its been the most disappointing experience. Personally my recommendation would be that their customer service personnel Bring their skills to a more reliable company instead because this one will never see my business.

This service is remarkably unreliable and the customer service is terrible. I had signed up for a mow (and by the way- you cant just get one, you have to have 3 before you can cancel), and the service was cancelled or rescheduled for EVERY. SINGLE. APPOINTMENT SLOT. This means I had to go out and mow, then they would finally show up 4 days after the appointment when my lawn no longer needed the service. After a third service provider, I was finally given a more reliable team, but on my last service they charged me $109 for a $44 service. I have now made 3 phone calls, 4 emails, and one social post and have yet to have someone refund my service. They tell me since the provider indicated it as complete, I cannot have a refund. THE SERVICE WAS NOT COMPLETED! I have pictures to prove it as well. This company robbed me of $65 and refuses to reply to my request for a refund. Completely unacceptable, unreliable, and unresponsive. Do not use Lawnstarter!

Already regretting I tried this. The crew has not shown up and are 3 days late from the promised schedule, and have given themselves ANOTHER 2 days to complete it. I mean this is a freaking lawn--it GROWS. My kid and I had to mow and weed-eat it ourselves today. The customer service line (option 2) does not answer. The sales line answers OF COURSE (option 1) but they cannot do anything about customer service. No one calls you back when you leave a call back number, which Ive done twice. There is no way to reach the crew except through the app, and the crew told me (via the app) they were having trouble using the app. It is a great concept with a disaster of an execution. Their app says I have to go through with 3 cuts (!!!!) and cannot cancel before that. If they so much as try to show up now or bill me, I will have American Express block the charge for failure to provide the agreed upon service. Anyone who gave this place a good review is lying. RUN RUN RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

After the first cut, the provider Lawn Starter assigned to mow our yard did not meet the time frame for our second mow because he was playing golf. Because the length of the grass was getting high we mowed it ourselves. The next day, I requested that they assign us a new crew and 2 weeks and still NO crew. Do yourself a favor and find a neighbor kid who wants to make $30.00 and pay them to mow. Probably more dependable !!!

Should have listened to the reviews! I booked after being assured via a text message conversation with the crew that the communication and scheduling issues would not be a problem. Booked for Monday, then was immediately scheduled for Tuesday/Wednesday. I was then contacted on Wednesday saying that due to inclement weather my service would be scheduled for Friday. I pointed out that Friday was slated to have thunderstorms all day. I was told that theyd try to fit me in Thursday, but would otherwise get me Friday. Its now Saturday and Im mowing my lawn myself. There has been no communication from LawnStarter for three days, but my schedule now mysteriously says Im scheduled for sometime between Friday and Monday. Its a holiday weekend. Im thinking theyre not coming until at least Tuesday, if they come at all. Dont waste your time.

I was charged $65 for a service that was not rendered. I have made 3 phone calls, sent 4 emails, and made a formal complaint through the app. My issue has not been resolved. Not only are their providers unreliable, dishonest, and do not do a quality job, the LawnStarter customer service is non-existent. Do not use this service unless you want to be ripped off!

Couldnt get a hold of the company or crew to move the service up at the beginning of the season. Cancelled a service scheduled for the week of May 5 then company rescheduled without permission and sent crew regardless of my cancellation. Messaging on app and website doesnt work. Have called multiple times and have spent no less than 30 minutes on hold waiting for an available operator only to be forced to give a call back name/number then never get a call back. E-mailing directly only got a please wait 72 hours for a response automated reply. Still trying to cancel service. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

Scheduled for weekly mowing service. First mowing was done. Then, they cancelled my service 3 weeks in a row. They were scheduled to come on Friday. I messaged my “team” and they replied they were working their way toward me at 1 pm. By 6:30 pm no one had showed. I messaged the crew again. Next thing I know, I get a message that my “team” can no longer provide service. This happened twice in a 2 week period. My lawn looked like a jungle. I was embarrassed. I finally bought a mower and trimmer to do it myself. Save money and hassle. They do not answer the phone either. Don’t wast your time.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Was warned about LS, didn’t listen, and now I’ve got a shaggy lawn and irritated neighbors. Scheduling is a complete nightmare and there’s a solid chance they will flake anyway. Lots of “Were finding you a tech!” messages, then apologies, then just full-on no-show. Then your grass will get long, and even though their customer service promises they’ll waive the fee for that since they are the ones who messed up in the first place, a tech will come and try to hit you with an absurdly inflated up charge. If you don’t accept in the app, they straight pack up and leave without giving you a chance to show them aforementioned email guaranteeing you the regular rate. You will find yourself wondering, Why am I spending so much time arranging to have my lawn mowed?? Customer service has been working on my ticket since Saturday, it is now Monday, and I’m not sure this is even worth pursuing. Switching to someone local.

Last year, early on, this company was pretty prompt with their services, for the most part. I have no idea what the heck even happened, but theyre a hot disaster now. You cant get ahold of anyone for any questions, its impossible to get a person on the phone. I sat on hold for 30 minutes today trying to reach someone about my mowing that is supposed to happen today, but likely wont.No. Youre better off using a different company. Ive tried to get in touch with *anyone* now for a week. No one answers emails, no one responds to inquiries. Not a single one. My lawn is starting to get overgrown, and theyre holding off so they can add their long grass fee onto the service, which they do often to charge you double by pushing off your mows almost every time JUST SO THEY CAN charge it.

We used this service to get our lawn mowed & offered to pay extra for bagging. Never did the contractor show up when they said they would nor did they ever bag our grass.There was little to no communication back and forth with the contracted company as we would constantly get messages asking how our lawn looked and our grass hadn’t been touched. It was a nightmare to work with either company. Further, we were charged for 4 services when we only asked for 3 and only received 3 services. We will not be return customers.

We called them to come out on a Wednesday and they kept rescheduling us and said they had someone in our area and that they had to do it friday (for their convenience even though they were hired days before shouldnt it be for the customers convenience and not yours?) ...They never showed up once when hired, and they are a waste of time.

I gave Lawnstarter a try to mow my lawn this week. The first crew didnt show up and didnt respond to my messages, but I figured it was just a single issue. I emailed support to get the mow rescheduled. The second crew assigned to me did the same thing, no show and didnt respond to any messages. This seems like a scam to get your grass long enough to charge extra fees. Its happened to other reviewers. Skip this business and go with someone that actually shows up.

Scheduled an appt which they kept moving back. Which means my yard was then tall enough for them to charge a long grass charge. support is email only and can not get a response. they also try to lock you into 3 mowing to keep you locked in. Im gonna have to cut my own yard to avoid a fine, since they havent shown up again.

The most insane experience I have ever had. Never did come to cut my grass as scheduled. Texted on the app to cancel at 1030pm with multiple bizarre messages. They just contract out to random people so there is no accountability and I’m not sure if there is any kind of screening process. Very scary and entirely unprofessional. They have the audacity to require you to sign up for 3 mows when you can’t even get one. It’s totally crazy.

Very dissatisfied with the service or lack thereof. We had service scheduled for a Thursday, the crew came and finished the front yard but did not finish the back. We got a message from the crew that a cable broke and would come back Tuesday to finish. I rained on that Tuesday and we’re rescheduled for Thursday or Friday. They no showed. There was no message from the crew so I messaged them and was advised of a family issue and they would come next week as the grass is getting higher and higher. I tried calling customer service and was on hold three hours before I gave up. I sent a message thru the app and got an email the next day apologizing and promised a new crew within two days. Two days later still no crew, I emailed again and got another apology and still trying to find a crew. The next day, I got a new email from a supervisor apologizing again but still no crew. Two days later another email saying they have no one available to take us on as a client at this time and wishing us the best to find somebody else. I don’t know how they came take new customers if they can’t handle their existing clients. Major fail for me!

When I asked if they would bag my yard , I was told “yes but there will be a $15 fee to do so”. I agreed to pay the extra $15 to have my yard bagged. When they came to mow, they did not bag it. When I messaged Aaron, he told me that they do not even have baggers on their mowers. What they do is mow it and will go over it a couple of times to disburse the grass evenly . When asked “why do you tell your customers that you will bag it for a $15 fee when you don’t have baggers” Aaron told me “we have no control over what is told over the phone “. This is not professional nor honest . My yard looks terrible ! And I can’t get a hold of anyone to discuss . They say they will call you back but they don’t .

Absolutely the worst lawn cutting experience Ive ever had. I have waited for three weeks to have my lawn cut through a series of no shows. Still my lawn has not been cut. The customer service people seem totally impotent in getting their lawn service people to respond to my communications or to keep their commitments. I was unable to contact Chris Pratt because his mailbox was always fulland I could not leave a message. I called Don Maddox who did my lawn ten years ago because I had a VA appraiser coming. He was only supposed to mow ONE time. 7 May, Lawnstarters came. The moneywas deducted directly from my checking. 11 May Don Maddox crewcame. I called Lawnstarters and left a message to cancel their mow.I tried several times to e mail. None of the e mails were received.On 13 May, Lawnstarters showed up. Where he went down the sideyard, there is bare dirt showing in places. Parts of my yard weremowed 3 times in 6 days. I had to run out in my night gown andstep in front of the mower to get his attention. He said he had notchecked his messages and he was sorry. I had to pay $30 to mycredit union to stop the automatic deduction.

I didnt hear from anyone, and when I called I was told I was on a waiting list (which the website mentions nowhere). A few days later I got an email saying they cant provide services for me, after I waited a week, and they deleted my account with them. Incredibly unprofessional and misleading.

Buyers beware. This company is the worst. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I scheduled a visit 2 weeks in advance, they give you a 2 day window for them to show - no times - just days, and the crew never contacted me or showed up. I had to call customer service at the end of the last day and the next earliest appointment was in the middle of the following week. I asked for an exception for the inconvenience and they dont do that or offer a discount for me having to pay a fee to another company fit me in. Thankfully I hadnt signed the contract yet. Any new customers, dont do it, I wish I could give 0 or negative stars.

It has been two weeks since my lawn was cut and 3 different crews have been assigned and still no one has come to cut my grass. This is the second time it happened and I’m done. Cancelled service. I decided to hire for lawn services this summer so I could spend my time enjoying other things on the weekends instead of hours of yard work. The first agency cut my lawn at a discount the first time and it was great! The second scheduled cut, they had equipment problems and had to reschedule. No problem. Then suddenly I get an email that my service was canceled! My grass was getting pretty tall, but LawnStarter was great and rescheduled another agency asap! They came today and did a better job than the first, all while I was at work. Now I get to go on vacation this weekend worry free! Highly recommend.

In theory, this service is a great idea. In reality, it was unreliable and FRUSTRATING. The first crew that was assigned to us, mistakenly mowed our neighbor’s lawn (still not sure how he managed to confuse our lawns??). I messaged him, and he said he would be right back to do the correct lawn.. he never showed. We had a new crew assigned, but they didn’t come for another 6 days. It was completed at that time, and all seemed well. However, the next time he was supposed to come, he never showed, but he did mark our lawn as completed. I messaged him, asking why I was receiving a text that it was completed and he responded with, “I’ll be there within the hour, sorry for the confusion.” He never returned. We promptly cancelled our service, and hired a very nice 17 year old to mow for us! He does it for less money, and always shows up at the agreed upon time! This “service” is way more trouble than it’s worth! Don’t waste your time!

The first week using the service was rough. The first crew assigned to us didnt show and were unresponsive. That was rectified when the second crew that was assigned came with less than 24 hours notice. They have a long grass fee that I was concerned about because of the delay, but they did not charge that from what I can tell. Tyler and his crew are great. They have cut my grass twice now and were very attentive to what I needed done to my yard. They say 3rd times a charm, and this coming week, I will know if I want keep the LawnStarter service. Worst experience, company and in the end service was cancelled. They are rated 4/5 but should be 1/5. In the 3 months I used the service they cut my grass twice. I went through 13 different crews with countless cancellations. I spoke with supervisors about it who would just tell you want you want to hear but never do what they say. They don’t vet there contractors. I had numerous crews show up who did not have equipment or would just leave. This company has serious issues and I would not use them. They say they’re professionals but I never saw one “professional crew”. In one instance some one showed up yelling at there spouse, wearing no shoes or shirt then yelled at me that they needed to get people and would be back...never came back. STAY AWAY AND DO NO USE!!

I have a lawn mower but I dreaded cutting the lawn after it grew so tall. My first cut was $19 for the back and front lawns. Frustrating experience. First service never showed up in 2 day window and did not email or call to notify. I had to reach back out and they said that they rescheduled b/c it rained the first day (dry and sunny the second day). After my inquiries they rescheduled for 4-5 days later which would have easily resulted in the charging me a penalty long grass fee at no fault of my own so I cancelled altogether. I asked for additional quoted services too on landscaping and trimming which did not occur - rain should not stop a simple drive by and quote. Easy to book online is a plus but doesnt mean much if follow through and communication lacks.

Pretty happy using the app to fill gaps. Would give it 5 starts, but I find most of the time the price is lower than what I would quote personally for my area and have had a few issues being paid for long grass properties lately even when submitting pictures using a tape measure to show the height and when denied the extra fee I’ve lost money on each of those lawns considering the lower amount and having to mow it 3-4 times.

All this appears to be is a middleman app that offers to connect homeowners with lawn care companies, who earn less from these bookings (because the middleman app takes a cut) and have no real motivation to show up on schedule. After receiving multiple email ads, I tried this. Lawn mowing was scheduled last Friday. Never happened. Rescheduled for Sunday. Never happened. Rescheduled for today. Never happened. After several messages to customer service, they told me to contact the provider directly. He told me he hated the app. This is a concierge service? I dont think so.

I can’t even begin to describe how tremendously disappointed I am with my experience using this company. Getting my grass cut every two weeks was nothing short of difficult, frustrating, and unsatisfactory. I was often left with paying extra money for high grass due to different crews failing to show up when scheduled (consistently 5-10 days late). The “no show” was only ONCE related to inclement weather, which is understandable and expected. All other times, I was left reaching out to LawnStarter asking why I was billed when no one even showed up to cut the grass . Not to mention two crews only cut half of my grass in my backyard on an occasion when I wasn’t home. Another crew told me that my backyard is extra money, even though the square footage had already been accounted for. I cannot believe I left a simple grass cut this summer in the hands of this company. Be ware.

This service has been frustrating from beginning to end. One crew cam out and barelymowed (our grass was not overly long, so that was not the issue). That crew failed to come the next week so we were assigned another one, which also mowed on what must be the highest grass setting. We made a note for that crew to cut it shorter on the following visit, but they never showed up. When I contacted customer service i was told don’t worry, your new crew will be out May 13th. That would mean our grass would not have been cut at all between April 24 and May 13 - and that is assuming the crew actually showed up on May 13. Our house is listed for sale and we are busy traveling for work and moving. We do not have time to maintain the lawn. This *seemed* like and easy way to manage lawn service, but it has been terrible. Our lawn is a mess and looks terrible for showings. I keep apologizing to our neighbors for how it looks. Customer service is pleasant (actually annoyingly so), but they do not actually get us the help we need. Maybe this service works great in some parts of town, but has not where we are in Loveland/Miami Township.

The guys from Lawnstarters took a bad situation with my yard and made it much more manageable. I have a bad hip and its nearly impossible for me to keep up with the large double lot I have. Tim and his crew came in, did exactly what I asked, are polite/professional/quick and treated my property as if it were theirs. They ask a very fair price for the work they did and I have other clean up jobs around the yard I intend to ask them to quote so they can help me get these taken care of as well. Cant recommend these guys highly enough.

First cut was ok. Had requested shrub trimming. Complained that job not done properly. Bushes did not look like they had been trimmed. They were still growing up into our power lines. Had terrible time getting anyone to come back and do job properly. I sent pictures of my bushes to Lawnstarter after job was done. They asked if picture was before or after job done .Job was never completed.They offered to refund to my account half of the $130 cost. Why would I agree to pay $65 for a job not done.They were to cut grass every 2 weeks. Job was cancelled and rescheduled with several crews . It was over 4 weeks and still no one showed up. I cancelled service. Still getting messages from them . I talked to several people via email, phone and app. NEVER communicated with same person. Always someone new and no one who was willing or able to make things happen. Lesson learned. Talk face to face with provider and get references from neighbors.

HORRIBLE customer service, would give 0 stars if I could. My grass never got mowed, kept getting pushed out by two days because they couldn’t match me with a crew... FINALLY after almost 2 weeks of hoping, I was matched with a crew. That crew showed up but refused to do the work unless I paid $300!!! Said It was a “tall grass charge” well duh!!! My grass is tall because your company kept cancelling on me. Getting customer service was nearly impossible, never got a resolution, never got my grass mowed. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Getting your grass cut shouldn’t be stressful or highway robbery.

I would definitely recommend any other lawn mowing service than this one. The crew NEVER shows up when scheduled, and then they will over charge you for an overgrown lawn they caused from not showing up. And if you try to call or email they do not reply. Completely horrible and disappointing customer service.

So I used Lawnstarter a bit last year after having knee surgery. While the guy I had last year showed up most of the time, the cuts were pretty lazily done and not professional as they claim. I thought this year I would give them a shot again for a few mows while I recover from a back injury. This was a terrible Idea. I set up service that was supposed to begin on July 1st. They give you a two day window, well in those two days, no crew showed up and the one assigned never responded. So starting on July 3rd, they assigned another crew, which this crew also failed to show up on Wednesday. The 4th was a holiday, so I understood that no one would be out, but I reached out again to the new crew and he assured me, they would be out first thing in the morning. Well, once again, no one showed. I spoke with several customer service reps and they stated that they would do everything possible to have someone out on Saturday or Monday at the latest. Once again, no one showed. I sent countless messages to make sure we can get this resolved and once again was assigned a new crew for July 9th and 10th. July 9th came and went without a show and then the 10th, I get a message about 3PM that they would be out before the day was over. I messaged them again at 7PM to see if it was still going to happen and they state that it is raining, so not looking likely. There was not a cloud in the sky and the rain did not begin until sunset at about 9PM. I reach out to customer service and they state they could have someone out on Monday and I told them that would be completely unacceptable and I needed someone out first thing in the morning to complete my mow. 10 minutes later, my account was deactivated by them. This is not a good business to deal with and there is nothing professional about them. It is a waste of time, money and did I say time?

Unless you like for your grass to come up to your knees, I would suggest not using this service. As you can see below its been 3 1/2 weeks since my yard has been mowed. I called and spoke to a supervisor who told me if I didnt like it, I could go elsewhere and that based on my area they had problems finding crews. Look at the screenshot, they clearly kept promising they would have someone out to mow my lawn, then cancel last minute. OHHHHHH they did offer to pay for any tall grass fees that may be accrued. Theyre willing to pay for their mistake, I should be SOOOO thankful. If this is how they treat customers, I would highly suggest taking your business elsewhere.

Ive been using Lawnstarter now for about 2 summers. Customer service is flawless and the Android app is amazing. Christopher Wiseman does great with the lawn service each time. The entire property is wrapped with a sidewalk and it is edged perfectly without fail. If youre in SE Virginia, I recommend Christopher and Lawnatarter above anyone else.

I started using them two months ago. They did an ok job cutting grass when they showed up which was very inconsistent. My issue is that they no showed on me the past two weeks and marked my service as complete, charging me. I called and the owner came out and said that the worker marked my service complete but didnt show up and he apologized and said he would make sure somebody showed up next week. However, same thing happened the following week. No show. Now its been over two weeks and i have a jungle in my back yard. My yard looks terrible and I am going to have to take care of it myself until i can find a company that will come by once a week and cut my grass consistently. Small yard. Should be an easy job. WIsh they could just show up and do their job.UPDATE: I just canceled service and hired another company. Dont think I will get my money back.
