Brought in a lawn tractor for repair of wiring as it wouldnt start- mouse damage - and a tune up. Took six weeks and when I got it back, $500 later, it would only run at full throttle. It ran fine before the mouse damage. Had a new carburetor on it but after complaining, they said I needed a new carburetor for another $300 and did not believe that it ran well before I brought it in. Part of the job was a tune up and if it only runs at full throttle, its not tuned up.

After having a not so pleasant experience with the young Kid with the Major Attitude! I’ve decided to change my review from a 1 star to a 5 star. BECAUSE of how awesome the Lady was when I picked my Saws up. She is also who sold me my last Generator. I appreciate her high level of service!

Dont bring in a repair to these guys. They are only interested in selling you something new. Any repair they will try and convince you the cost would be equal to buying a new one

The staff is nice but the price for labor is generally about what it would cost to buy a new one and the wait time is 3 weeks

We have bought several items from them. Their customer service is great! We were in today in need of wheels for a very old Honda mower. They helped us figure out which wheels would actually work without spending a ton of money.

I bought an outboard motor here and it had an issue so I brought it in under warranty. It was leaking oil into the water and they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it and gave it back. When I got it back they forgot to put the shift linkage back together so I brought it in again and when I finally got it back it did not run. I would rate them lower if I could.

Good selection of products, thought it was cool that they are carrying kayaks, very clean and organized showroom. The staff could use some better training, and service is a bit pricey with a long turnaround.

I purchased a mower from Chico Power Equipment, last June. The mower is labeled as easy start but has been anything but that, from the beginning. I put up with it last summer and through the fall. About a month ago i got the mower out since the weather was nice and lawn needed mowing. It took about 20 minutes to get it running and was very sluggish when it finally did start. It hobbled through mowing the lawn. This past Sunday i again got the mower out to cut the grass. This time the mower would not start, period. I fiddled with it for 45 minute to no avail. On Monday, I took the mower to CPE and explained the troubles Ive had with a mower that is less than 10 months old. The first question they asked was are you using gas station gasoline?. I asked what type of gas would i use, if not gas station gasoline? Her answer was that lots of gas station gases will cause a gummy build-up in the engines and I should have been using an additive. i said that might be good information for you to tell people when they purchase your mowers. She said they try to mention but dont always remember. She did offer to have me leave the mower and they would do a diagnostic on it and provide a tune-up, and clean the carburetor. This was going to be over $120, to which i declined. It doesnt seem right that a lawn mower that is less than a year old should need a tune up and cleaning. Strongly disapprove of customer service and backing of product.

I received a rototiller from my family as a gift for my birthday! Unfortunately I was looking for a little bigger one. I tried to ask if I could exchange and pay the difference for the larger one. It was not ran still in packaging with receipt only a few days after original purchase. They declined. Not good business practice in my opinion. I will not be purchasing or recommending this business to anyone if you value customer service.

Brought them a mower to repair( it was an insurance repair) they replaced the deck, so they had to swap the motor over. After about a week, I noticed there was a oil leak and in the middle of mowing a customers yard, my mower motor seized up. Luckily I just added oil tightened the bolt and worked the shaft to get everything working. Also took a blower to them, I paid $500-600 for it new about 2 1/2 years ago. They wanted to charge $400 to fix it. I went home, grabbed the carb of my other blower put it on and it fired up right away.

Customer service is no better than any big retailer and prices are MSRP. Only reason its been around so long is because its the only official retailer for Echo in the area.

We bought a lawn mower from these people less than a year ago, when we put it away for winter we run it out of gas cleaned it up just like we do with all ous gas equipment. when we got it out of storage bout a month ago , we checked oil, filled gas tank, and it won,t start. called them up and they wanted $80.00to look at it, they wouldn,t even honor any warranty. the girl on the phone was short and rude with us, wouldn,t even let us talk to a tech there. We will never do bussiness there again and wouldn,t suggest them to anybody.Hell of a way to run a business. i rate them a ZERO

5 Weeks for lawnmower repair. No parts needed. Cost $150.You decide if you wish to do business with these folks.Purchased a Honda mower approximately two years ago from Chico Power Equipment. Prior purchases from them over the last 10 years included another Honda mower, blower, weed eater and chain saw.Mower stopped working Sunday April 7 after refilling gas tank. [Looking back probably was due to refilling with old/bad gas.] My son dropped off for repairs on Monday April 8. When Id not heard back from them with repair estimate, I called on April 15. Spoke with Loy [owner/manager/big cheese] who said they were very busy and it would take 3 weeks for repair [my son had not been told that]. I told Loy Id need to have machine serviced elsewhere. He said he knew all the shops in Chico area and they were all swamped.Taking the machine elsewhere would have been a chore and since one week of the three week turnaround time had already gone by, I left the mower with them. I was away the week of April 29, the promised repair date, and when I called on Monday May 6, I was told that they were telling everyone that the estimated turnaround time was **5** weeks and that my machine should be ready in a few days. I called again on Friday May 10 and was told by Travis that the machine had not yet been serviced. I said I was unwilling to wait any longer and wanted the mower back. Travis said he would speak with the service tech and move the repair up. He called back that afternoon with a repair estimate and said the mower would be ready that Friday or Saturday depending on whether glue/gasket needed to cure overnight.Guess what. On Saturday May 11 when I called to confirm the mower was done, I was told there were “a few” jobs ahead of mine and that they “should” get to it later that day ! I told them I did not believe them, and was coming over to take the mower back. When I arrived at the shop, I was told that the tech “had his wrench on” the mower and that I could have back the pieces or wait 30 minutes for him to be done. The mower was ready 20 minutes later.I told them that they could charge me for the repair and I would write this up or they could acknowledge their poor customer service and not charge me. They defended their customer service by saying they got the job done within 24 hours of the repair being approved , ignoring the fact that it took nearly 5 weeks just to come up with that estimate. They took my credit card, and heres my response.Draw your own conclusions; mine are that:1. Loy did not speak truthfully about the wait time for repairs fearing hed loose the $$.2. I was deceived multiple times about the job being done “in a few days”.3. The job only took 20 minutes: apparently they didnt start on it until I said I was coming to take it back.4. It cost me nearly $150 in mower rentals and I could have saved money [and aggravation] by taking the mower somewhere else even if it meant driving to Sacramento.5. This business is predatory and takes advantage of its “customers”.August Addendum:Took a while to decide to post this, but when I found they had so over-tightened the nuts on the mower blade that they were impossible to remove [requiring a trip to a different shop] I decided that sharing this would be a community service.
