Took a charter over memorial weekend. Had a great time, fun crew, caught lots of fish. Definitely would recommend and I will use Angler Charters again.

We had an awesome time with captain Gintas and his great deckhand. We are from Alaska where the fishing is hard to beat. Gintas put us on the King Salmon and Coho. We limited out on fish and could not find any limit to the sense of humor and fun provided for us. Made us feel like we were fishing back home but with a Chicago twist.

We booked this for two days and had a blast. The captain and first mate made it fun. We fought fish when no one else was.

Great experience with Captain Gintaz. He was very professional and tried to get us the most out of our time. Looking forward to going back next time.

We spent the afternoon with Captain Gintas yesterday. We left Belmont Harbor and headed straight out to some deep water. We very quickly caught our limit of some very big lake trout and then headed for other species. My husband caught a HUGE king salmon that I am going to cook tonight for some neighbors, the fillets look incredible. Having been on other charters in the past the one thing I really liked was the boat. It is a really big boat that made the waves seem like nothing which was a big deal for me as I tend to get sea sick sometimes. I knew the captain was way into fishing when we walked up to the boat to find the captain fishing from the back of the boat! What a treat to have this right downtown.

Hes the best captain in Chicago. Just ask him!

We had mixed feelings about our fishing trip with Angler. Between the 4 of us ( 2 adults, 4 kids) we caught 14 trouts which was really great. Gintas was also nice enough to give us his frozen salmon since I lamented not catching any. However, a few episodes all but killed the joy of this trip for us. Gintas was continually derisive towards his first mate. Granted he did make a few mistakes, I didnt feel I had to be present for this showdown. Im a physician and cant imaging treating my residents like this in front of the patients, or even in private. At some point when we were accosting Gintas pushed away two of the boys by their necks without saying a word. The boys are 11 and 8 yo. One actually complained of a neck pain for the rest of the evening. The boys dont speak much English, but that felt completely unnecessary, whatever the urgency was. Even if they were on his way, couldnt he anticipate that the boys should not be standing there? No apology followed.Also, I felt lots of pressure with the tips for the first mate. Gintas requested 15% which came down to a whooping 120$. I offered 80$ which was still way too much in my opinion, especially since we cleaned all of our own fish. Immediately afterwards Gintas said that the two fishes that I didnt have time to clean will go to the first mate. He mentioned something about the catch limit, but there was no talk about it before the tip discussion, and first mate actually told me hed clean them for me. Hope that helps.
