My external hard drive stopped working and made the clicking noise of death. Eric Dvorin patiently guided me through the process of repair and recovery as the platters were damaged. It was an expensive job (in the thousands) but after some research and talking to a few friends in IT, the price was reasonable as it would take hours to repair the platters. I havent gone through all the data yet but we were able to recover a lot of the personal documents and photos. Large movie files, maybe not too lucky but thats ok.

The partition on a 4TB drive with 50 years of family video was wiped (and the file structure) by a glitch / surge and the True Image backup drive also damaged and of course I had been intending to back this up to the cloud. I didnt dare attempt to recover and called SDR. Eric was very responsive and had me set up to drop of both disks in short order.I opted for quick service and paid the inspection fee. I received a list of the files found in the directory and a price for extracting them and associating them with a tree. Though I called first and was told that they would examine my computer for data recovery and sometimes can pull data from a computer that wont come on if the hard drive is not corrupted and they will look at it for free. This franchise wouldnt even look at the computer and told me to go to a shop on the north side. Waste of my time!

But then again, what is that data worth to you on that drive or USB stick? And depending on the damage, it might take that much more work to recover your data.That said, Secure Data was kind enough to NOT charge me for just getting my drive diagnosed. Chris McMacken was friendly, empathetic and available. When I realized that I was not going to be able to pay off the recovery cost (I had several options ranging from economy to express) in one shot, he offered me the option of financing. When I explained that I really couldnt afford the service right now, he helped send my drive back with a tracking #.Would I have liked to have used their services? Yes. But after several unexpected expenses before my hard drive failure, Chris was very understanding. I got the impression that he actually cared, instead of being sent to a round-robin call center.Would I recommend Secure Data? If you want the best chance at getting your data back without compromising on quality, and if you can afford them, then yes, they are your best bet. They dont charge by a set rate, nor are there any surprises. And if they cant recover your data, you dont pay. You cant ask for much more than that.

Ive had a crashed HD sitting around for ages with lots of My Documents, Photos and Videos loaded on it that I had tried at a local computer repair shop to get my data off of it. Never does it feel good when an external drive containing irreplaceable data fails. Enter Secure Data Recovery Services. Fred responded quickly to my initial inquiry and coordinated shipping my drive for diagnosis. SDRS discovered that the drive heads were failed and the data platters severely damaged, requiring drive dissection and component replacement to enable recovery of what data remained undamaged. While the recovery was not cheap, and some files were irrecoverable, SDRS recovered the majority of the most important files.Overall I am pleased with how SDRS handled my data recovery. Fred was outstanding every step of the way, from explaining the process to coordinating recovery and getting my data back in my hand. While I hope never again to require their services, if I do at some point, I will not hesitate to turn first to SDRS.

Ive had an 80GB Internal Hard Drive in a late 2006 Macbook White 13 throughout design school and midway through the semester during my Junior year (2010) did my drive suddenly fail on me. I restarted the computer at one point, and instead of a full boot sequence, I got a folder with a flashing question mark...I knew that wasnt good. I had sought out recovery services around that time not knowing how much more airy my wallet is going to be feeling. I was able to recreate a lot of my designs from scratch and I kept my drive if I one day decided to have it recovered.Fast forward to this year (2016) and I had a 2TB External hard drive take a nose dive off of my desk amidst office renovations. First of all, I really appreciated the free evaluation on both of my drives so I knew what I would be getting into price wise and data recovery wise. Jeremy Provchy was extremely helpful and made himself available via both email and phone. I was very satisfied with his devotion to customer satisfaction and service. I was close to saying no thank you at the time due to the price for one of the drives, and he was able to offer other options for recovery and thus changed my answer to a yes.He mentioned that the recovery time would be a bit longer due to the option I had chosen, but I had waited 6 years to recover it, what was another week going to change? Right? The turnaround time was MUCH faster than originally intended, 4 days...I couldnt beat that. They offered me a supervised preview of my data, and it was all there. With that said, I got my data on a 64GB USB drive. It was so simple. I definitely plan to use their services again and refer them to friends and clients, if in the future I need hard drive recovery assistance.Thank you.
