Coleman Brothers Barbershop is a monumental historical shop that opened in 1956. They provide services for African Americans from all walks of life. They service and continue to cut hair for some of the most prominent people in the Chicago area. Mr. James Coleman and his (brothers RIP), were the first African American Entrepreneurs to open Barbershops on the Southside of Chicago. All of them were/are professionals whom did exemplary work. The businesses thrived during some of the most difficult times in history.Mr. James Coleman is the only surviving brother who continues to manage and oversee daily operations at the shop on Stoney Island Ave. The pictures on the wall of Ali, Jessie Jackson, Elijah Mohammad, Joe Lewis, and many others reflect a wealth of history of distinguished people whom were frequent customers. How do I know, I visited the shop from childhood to adulthood as I watched my father James Coleman & his brother Richard Coleman shave & cut hair with absolute precision!! I admire their tenacity and value their noteworthy experiences as professional Barbers in Chicago, IL. This shop is a cornerstone in our Community.

A historic establishment. The barbers are well trained, this barbershop has been around for over 50 years. Serving politicians, law enforcement officials, neighborhood clients, city, county and state employees.
