I had a good experience with upright law. I was a little saddened to know that the lawyer who does all the work gets a fraction of the money they normally would get not going through upright. But the ability to pay 50 bucks every two weeks till the full amount was paid was nice for someone where money was limited. But I would still recommend going directly to the lawyer first but all in all upright did it’s job

Upright Law was a wonderful experience considering the circumstances we were under. No one wants to file bankruptcy but Upright Law made the process easy and stress free. Our attorney was out standing, I can not recommend them highly enough.

I am currently dealing with this firm, and have had nothing but issues with them. I first was assigned to a lawyer that was not even practicing, and placed with another one whos firm is has yet to file my case after an entire month of being paid in full. I am not kept informed about the status, they are not flexible in their schedule to work around working single mothers. I have been belittled, spoken down to and honestly am severely concerned that my case will not be filed correctly and that I will be in the same situation I am at now with no improvement. I have attempted to contact UpRight on several accounts and they either transfer me, hang up, no one answers, or am told that they have no control over how long the lawyer takes. They did not have a problem taking my money though. To find out that my local Lawyers are a fraction of the price. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE COMMITING TO THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK NOR WILL YOU HAVE YOUR CASE DONE RIGHT OR BE TREATED WITH RESPECT. LOOK AT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND MY REVIEW WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF HASSLE AND MONEY!

Once I made the first phone call, I was walked through each step of the bankruptcy. I was assigned to a lawyer who was located near me. I was set up with a payment plan and when my bill was paid, I was instructed to take a financial course which is mandatory. The course was great. You will have to get together financial paperwork and copies of your license, etc. I did this all over the internet because of the pandemic. I also met with the bankruptcy administrator over the internet, also. It was quite simple and after a few questions it was over and my bankruptcy was discharged about a month later. I received a letter informing me of this. Other than all the paperwork I had to get together and scan into my computer, it was a good and easy experience.

I chose this firm over a year ago, but it turned out that I didnt really need them. I had a few expensive phone calls with an attorney - which is fine; I kind of used him as a retainer. Anyway, I have been due a refund for quite some time. These people have done everything to avoid issuing me my refund - this includes: Hanging up the phone when I called to check on the refund. ignoring emails, lying that the check was on the way...So - be very careful when working with them. If you expect a refund, youve been warned.

I paid $1800 and then had second thoughts and went to cancel the same day, I am a single mother of 2 boys and that money was the only thing I had left for us. I called to cancel the same day, the first person I talked to was awesome, he said since I paid that day I would get the full refund back and should see it in my bank account within 24 hours. The next day it wasnt in my account so I called only to be told that I would not be getting the full refund back only $1,205, they took over $700 for services I cancelled the same day. This was back in February, I was told they could not send it back into my account that it had to be mailed and it would take 30-45 business days. It is now May and I still havent received my refund. I will never ever use this service again. Trying to better my life for my children and all I got was taken advantage of.

My experience went according to the expectations they provided. I went on a payment plan and was informed that once I was done paying, the work would truly begin. My lawyer communicated exactly what was needed. We went through the process in a timely manner and we went through my petition in detail. Process was painless minus gathering all the paperwork but that was expected!! Please dont take the reviews about the refund process as a representation of what this company does. Please also note that one should not expect to file until you have paid in full. Job well done!

I was told they could file immediately, and i would pay monthly payments. When i spoke with the local attorney assigned to my case. She informed me i would have to pay in full before they could file, which wouldn’t be until December 20, 2021 based on the payment schedule they put me on. I ended up declining to continue with service based on them giving me misleading information to gain my business. And now the $300 i paid them to start the process, which i just paid them the day before! Which was June 10, 2021!!!! will now take 45 BUSINESS days for them to mail me a check! Not to mention the phone kept hanging up or leaving me on hold after i informed them i want a refund. These ppl are fraudulent and thieves! DO NOT USE THEM! RUN! FOH! Unethical and shady business practices! I def would warn against using these ppl! I wouldGive No stars if i could! Rip off!!!I already filed with BBB about them! They have an F rating with them. That is shameful. Doing ppl like this, who are already in a bad financial situation looking for help. Holding my money up means i can’t use it to start another company until i can save enough money to retain another more reputable company’s service. I am disgusted by UPRIGHT LAW! They don’t no communicate with their clients. The first lawyer I had failed to explain my plan in detail so I was stuck with a Chapter 13 that I could not afford. Then that lawyer was fires and I have a new one that does no response to emails. Please go else where.

From beginning to end, UpRight Law made the bankruptcy process easier than we anticipated. They were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and affordable. I paid the full $1500 upfront. They were able to take it out of my account within a few hours. After paying in full I spent maybe 5 minutes on the phone with the attorney who said that I dont qualify and they would be submitting my refund. I find out the next day that I will not be refunded for services not rendered for 60 days. Heres an idea, if someone is filing for bankruptcy dont you all think theres a chance they could use that $1500 instead of waiting for months to get it back for no services rendered. Thats like paying for cable in advance only to be told they dont service your area and youll have to wait months to be refunded for something you cant even use. This is ridiculous. Get the consult before paying.

Upright law is good until you cancel. I just got off of the phone with a cancellation manager that has been calling me for weeks only to tell me that the $700 that I’ve paid towards my bankruptcy was not going to be refunded to me and that I actually owed them $14 due to the “work” that various departments have done on my behalf. The work was a conversation with an attorney, the company taking a call on my behalf, research to confirm that I could in fact file bankruptcy, late payment and some other bs charge that was never disclosed.If you are going with them. Don’t be on the fence, because if you change your mind they will find a way to keep your money. My suggestion is to look up an attorney in your area and go with them.

I blocked their first transaction attempt & told them that I would not require their services. THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING! They never took any info about my debtors. They had an attorney call me and we spoke for maybe 5 mins & the timeline she gave me was insane. I never heard anything else from the them. I figured that would be the end of it. But 2 weeks later they drafted my account for $200. When I called they said I should have been set up with a cancellation manager (which I was not) & then told me that they would not refund my money due to work on the account. Im not sure what they are referring to since I wasnt even set up with a cancellation manager! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!

I was in a tunnel, no light at the end, anywhere. So I called up right law and the gentleman I spoke to was not a lawyer, he was just the guy answering the phone. He asked a few questions, I answered as best I could, he said I had to pay $X,XXX.00 for the services. I could make big payments because I didn’t have t make payments on the debt. I was referred to a lawyer, Benjamin J. Riley who eventually contacted me ask a lot more questions, mostly detailed financial information, which I did the best to answer. And I waited. Never having had to deal with lawyers or anything legal I was completely clueless. I eventually found out that the case would not proceed until after I had paid the full amount requested. So I cashed out my savings to get the process going rather than waiting a year of making monthly payments. Now I have no savings, but I didn’t have to make the payments on the debt so I could build it back up fast. The lawyer contacted me for more information, which I provided. There was a phone call to a third party, a clerk of the court. And I waited again. I did not know whether this is going take weeks, months, years, or decades. No one ever told me, I had no idea of the timeline. I felt like a mushroom, you know how they grow mushrooms. But now, I didn’t have to make the monthly payments for those three big debts, that way I could build up my savings again. However, I received a hearty, solid intuition come to me, ‘check to see if your information is correct about not having to pay the debtors.’ When I did, I found out if I had proceeded with out making the payments I would have lost everything! Fortunately my intuition had hit me before I had missed any payments. After a few months of waiting I try contacting the lawyer, my texts were not answered, my emails were never replied to, the phone number that we had used for our conversations was now, “no longer a working number.” I tried contacting up right law and they said nothing about the lawyer’s phone “is no longer a working number” that meant to me that was standard operating procedure, but the phone jockey said it could take three months for the court proceedings. I figured they didn’t know, so they just gave me a ballpark statement. In late August, let’s see that made it a little less than six months, I received a letter from the lawyer. The letter was a form, in the briefest form, stating a discharge was granted. No details, no specifics, no information. There were three main creditors that I had always been most concerned about, that I had talked the most about with the lawyer, that comprised the bulk of the debt I wanted to discharge. The form letter had two more pages of qualifications and exceptions to discharges that provided me with two more pages of a lot more questions that had gone unanswered and that will never be answered. But I did find out in conversation from one of the people who answer the phone at upright law that the largest of the creditors named in this discharge order was not discharged. So little help, and cut off of at the knees. That’s better than no help, but a lot less than I anticipated. Go to a local attorney. Do not make the mistake I did. Your attorney must first educate you about all the details of litigation in a manner YOU can understand. If you do not feel like the attorney you are sitting down with in a face to face conference is going to properly educate you so you can make the best decisions for YOU, get up and walk out. Continue interviewing attorneys until you find one that will impress you with their ability to educate you, to give you the understanding, the education that you need for your decision making. Your first interview with an associate at Upright Law will be with a phone answering person with no legal education, who cannot advise you about the law. If you want to risk losing your assets, that is a good way to start. I almost lost everything, but my intuition kicked in just in time.

Hired them to handle a bankruptcy and it took them to long to handle my case got 2 different attorney with garnishment I paid debt off before they filed my case and when I called for refund only gave back 400 dollars out of 2000 and they never did anything on my case billed alot of time for attorney fees that never even looked at my case

Do not go here. Emma Sloan screwed up my reaffirmation of my vehicle by never filing the paperwork for my case. The firm refuses to even apologize . DO NOT GO HERE

What I like most is they’e affordable and they help us to prepare our goals. Also, their professionalism and understanding of our situation.

They have great customer service, everyone is super helpful in setting you up with a payment plan and getting you to an attorney to start the process. Fortunately for me, after making $1,500 in payments I was able to avoid bankruptcy by settling my debts. This is where it gets murky, the cancellation process is long and drawn out (Obviously on purpose), I had to speak with a cancellation manager and it took about a week to get in touch. After spending some time on the phone with the cancellation manager I was informed that I would only receive around $800 back from my payments due to services rendered. Although I found it excessive, especially due to the simple nature of my case, I didnt argue it. Where I really got frustrated is when I was told the refund process is 30-40 business days and in the form of a check. I can handle a check in the mail, but 2 months in excessive. Im going on 1 month and have yet to see any refunds. When I call I am simply told were working on it. Very disappointing.In short I would probably find a local lawyer and work with them directly if you are considering BK, this is the best way, though had my refund been returned promptly I wouldve probably given them 4 stars.

Everything went as smoothly as I could have hoped for. My assigned attorney was experienced, thorough and professional. When I had questions or issues he was there for us and responded appropriately every time. We were very nervous at the 341 meeting of creditors but Steve was confident and reassuring. His confidence helped calm my anxiety and everything went exactly as he had described. We did everything we were asked or required to do which is absolutely necessary for any legal procedure to have the desired outcome. With our compliance and willingness to be thorough Steve was able to use our information to prepare and present a case that proved our need for chapter 7 protection and discharge. With the weight of the world lifted we can finally look forward to a future with hope thanks to our new beginning.

If I could give any advice about these people, do not I repeat do not go through this firm. Do youre research and find some else that will treat you like a human and do the very best to help solve youre case. Upright Law will take your hard earn money and not give one damn about you or youre issues. I am currently still waiting on my refund and any time I call about it I get the run around about wait for our refund division to call you, or there is no one in the office to take youre call right now. For half of the money Upright Law ask for, you could have filed and had your case half way through the process. Take it from someone who has learn the hard way, do not allow Upright Law to cheat you out what you deserve.

Okay so they are nice and helpful. But when situation changes where you cant continue with their services expect a serious delay on your refund with a massive reduction. Its amazing how a phone call cost 94 dollars. 1850 reduction Im now getting 300 back and according I cant even get that and its going to be 300 at most. Don’t recommend. I spoke to a woman named Sandra, extremely nice, comforting, and quick to give advice and answers. She Told me until I finished paying in full I wouldn’t begin the filing process (obviously) HOWEVER assured me I had retained my lawyer and he’d be able to help me with the more urgent matters. I got my lawyers number while I was at work on Friday, and called him back today (Monday) I did all of this to find out that in fact he couldn’t even see my case until it was paid in full and that he wouldn’t be able to help. Extremely frustrated.

Upright law is a joke. Had a general question and was pressured into putting some sort of payment down. After reading the reviews, I quickly learned they are quick to your money but will not send it back. I’ve been waiting 3 months for a return. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I was extremely nervous needing an attorney but UpRight Law was professional and very knowledgeable. They walked me through what I needed. I recommend them highly!

Complete shake down if there is any chance you might not follow through. I suggest you just save the money on your own and call when you have it. The payment plan is set up to where if you cancel it they pretty much take every thing you gave them. I gave them 440 and when i cancelled, they refunded me 21 dollars. Really scam like keep your money until you can just pay for a lawyer. If you call to check on the status of you case you are charged for it. If you call to reschedule a payment you are charged for it if you call because you missed a call from them you are charged for it. Somewhere around 21 dollars per min. Update 02/20/2020 it has been 3 months and I still have not received my refund. My 21 dollars out of 440 I gave them for nothing.

The absolute worst. Let’s start at: they had no actual clue what I needed, and sent me to a terrible lawyer. I paid them ON TIME, but when I requested a refund they charged me almost $800 dollars for “paper” and “filing” fees. Then, when I actually get approved for me refund I have to wait 45 days to be told that it MIGHT come by the end of November. This is the worst experience I’ve had. Would not recommend if you are trying to make informed and intelligent financial decisions.

I started with Upright Law in January 2020, as of today Ive made $900 in payments. Due to this Covid 19 I lost my job and had to cancel. I just now got off the phone with a manager about my cancelation, there was two things done on my account. The first thing was the initial review and the second was the actual lawyer reviewing. I was advised that I would be receiving $295 back. I was also advised that because I canceled I was charged a higher rate than if I would have continued. I was charged $390 a hour because I am canceling. Lastly, I was also advised that I would have to wait 30-45 days for the check to come in the mail.I will definitely be looking into another attorney when Im back in my feet and ready to file.

I paid $2040 in March, the next day I spoke with the attorney and he said I can’t file now and that my whole payment would be returned to me. When I hadn’t heard in a month, I called customer. I was told it will take 45 business days. I have called in June and twice in July and the last time I spoke with the manager, he said he would expedite my refund! Still no word! Wish I had researched this company more!

Sadly still waiting for my refund initially they said refund no problem if cancelled within time period - I did. then when I called i was told 30 - 45 days - I waited then I called again and was told 30-45 BUSINESS days-- well we are there, Now they only do BATCHES on Fridays- well that will be past the 30-45 days and then they MAIL the refund??? They sure knew how to DEBIT my card really quick like a few hours but I have to wait all this time to get my money back SAD !!!!

I called on November 1, 2019 to cancel my account after paying in full. I was told the refund would take 30 days. After 30 days passed, I called and was told it takes 30-45 days. After 45 days I called and was told the check would be going out in 5 days. I called back today...a week later and was told they are still working on October refunds so my check has not been sent. I asked to speak to a manager and as per my thoughts before I asked, he was on another call. I am disgusted that they are already keeping such a large portion of the money I paid for their so called work done behind the scenes, I am even more disgusted that they are not making good on their own refund policy. People save your money and go to a reputable law firm. These people dont know how to be truthful.

I recommend that you do not use this company. They told me that they can take me care, took my money. For them to turn around an say that they cannot. The lawyer was rude an it was very hard to get in touch with him. All of this was back in the beginning of February, it’s almost April an I still have yet to receive my refund.This company and the layers are some jokes an I just wish I would of stayed clear of them. Dont use these people!!! If I had read the reviews I wouldve NEVER retained this firm. I gave them a sizable deposit, and they assigned me an attorney that, well, I wouldnt have picked. The attorney and I mutually agreed to not continue, and I asked for a refund from Upright Law. What a joke...They tell me they will send me my refund in 30-45 days....It took them 3 minutes to take my money, but 30-45 days to return it?? And not paying interest?? Hello, but the law in the Commonwealth of Virginia states that interest is to be paid on retainers. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and plan to file a complaint with the Virginia Attorney Generals office tomorrow morning. Im also filing a Complaint with the Virginia State Bar, with the goal of having them dis-barred in Virginia. I have also opened a dispute with my credit card company, Im not taking these people sitting down. Its time someone put the screws to them and stopped this scam of a business they are running.. UPDATE: I am still awaiting the processed refund promised TODAY. If I do not receive it by 3pm today, the credit card company will continue with the dispute and I will continue with my Bar complaint. I do not trust this company, even though the attorney they referred me to seemed to be honest.

So far this whole experience has been a nightmare to me however, this company has made this whole situation pretty easy to deal with. The communication is top notch and so is their customer service. I will definitely recommend to a friend should they ever be in this situation I am.

I came across Upright law and contacted them. My representative was a gentleman named Daniel and he was awesome. He talked me through the whole process and did not try to hurry me off the phone. He addressed every question I had and explained it in detail. Through the whole process, I was able to call him (and all the other upright law members) if I had any questions. The actual Attorney Andrea was just as great. I had a little glitch in my papers, due to my own fault and I was worried that it would halt my bankruptcy process. Hired upright law for a bankruptcy and did the fee for filing in payments decided no need for bankruptcy because atty never called us back so requested refund was told 30 days no refunds called back advised 30 to 45 days now we are at 62 days and I call and get told not processed that financial department is back logged they can take money from clients but refuse to refund in a timely manner will never recommend to anyone and if your a client go somewhere else next step is BBB And atty which upright law will pay the atty. Get it together upright law can get a refund quicker from Burger KingNice response rebot reply not acceptable I will be contacting an atty

No one could answer a simple question that I had asked before I finished paying them off then when I asked for a refund they charged me work that they supposedly done while I was paying them off what company does work before they are payed in full they sure couldnt answer my question before they got all of their money. I signed up for their services, only to have a lawyer that would not take my calls or call me back. I decided to cancel my services and requested a refund. I paid 2800 to them and they said I would have to pay for the start up of my file which was only 300 and some change. I understood and agreed. I was then told I had to wait 30-45 business days for my refund. It is passed the 45 days and I was told it will be expedited. Still have not received my refund nor does anyone know when I will get it. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and my next step is to contact a lawyer. Apparently they are behind in the finance department but from what I have read that is the excuse on every refund. So let me get this straight you didnt have a financial issue when taking my money but now there is an issue to refund it. I want an exact date as to when my money is coming back to me.

If I could give them no stars I would! They dont give the correct information. The staff hangs up the phone when trying to get information. Supervisors not only dont ever work they also dont have voicemail because they all sit so close together they hold hands when taking calls and squeeze hands to pass messages...oh and supervisor arent allowed to take calls without giving a name because ya know they cant look people up! USELESS!

The customer service as a client is great and their staff is great aside from when you request to stop the process. I have requested a full refund and every time I call it is the same answer “a client services supervisor will contact you within a week”. Well now after the weeks no one calls and conveniently you’re on hold for an hour waiting to connect. I want my refund and that’s it. There are already numerous better business bureau complaints and I just filed another. Stop playing games

Waiting for a call to get back our 1900 dallors they stole from us. My wife is disabled so the money was hard to come up with it. Its been months not a call or anything AFTER they got there money. update I have spoke to multiple people and still cant get an answer to where my money is and who to speak with Friday July 10th. They where supposed to call me at 10 am this morning and no call. I called them and spoke with 3 diffrent people they had no idea what I was calling for

If I can I would give it 0 stars!!!! In January I called so they can help me with my bankruptcy paid 100 upfront but then decided I no longer need their services they took out the money out my account super fast but for me to get a refund I was told it will take 45 business days!!! And guess what does 45 days are up and no refund. I called today to get some information and all I got was that my check has NOT YET been sent out! I spoke to a lady called AZRIANNA she was the worst didn’t answer none of my questions and hung up on me. I called again spoke to RYAN told him what happened he put me on then pretended he didn’t hear me and hung up as well. Don’t trust these people they are beyond unprofessional and rude and just want your money!!!

I finished making my payments in March 2019. At that time I was asked to send in 3 months of my bank statements and to fill out paperwork of items I own and how much they are worth and proof of income . I did everything I was asked and was told my attorney would contact me to do a verbal edit before filing. In July I receive another email asking for the same information I gave back in March. I emailed and stated I already submitted everything. Then I was told I needed to resubmit new bank statements because my case had not been filed. So I went ahead and did as I was asked. After submitting everything again I am told my attorney will be in contact on the next week. I had not received a call yet and we are going into September 2019. I contacted the paralegal over a week ago and asked what’s going on? She stated she would look into it and have the attorney call me. Still no call almost 2 weeks. This is quite ridiculous at this point. I paid 2500.00 and I am not going to keep resubmitting BS paperwork and nothing is getting done. My next course of action is to contact the BAR association as well as the attorney general’s office. I feel at this point my bankruptcy should have been filed and done.

Had a very bad experience with this company. After I paid in full lawyer never reached out so I ended up requesting a refund. Its been one month now and still have not received a refund. Been calling every week and Im being told they are backed up because of all the request for a refund. First company I seen that makes you wait over a month to get a refund. Worst part is they only count business days so it can take over a month to get a refund.Please be careful who you spend your money with and read all the reviews as Im not the only one who hasnt received a refund for unsatisfactory work. Next step is to file a consumer report with the attorney general so more people are aware of these type of business practices. Good luck!Update- Requested refund and got approval 9/27/18 and still have not received it as of 11/6/18.Update- Finally received my refund Dec 31. Took 3 months to receive my refund. Got in touch with a supervisor and he was able to expedite the process.

STOP!!! GO TO AN INDEPENDENT FIRMFirst off this company has horrible organization and customer service skills. It took me literally 3 weeks to get services I requested to be addressed. They will keep any moneys paid contrary to the outdated script they read to you upon agreeing. Read Better Business Bureau complaints as I should have. Ask many questions. Record the conversation to protect yourself if possible. Black People go and support our own community and businesses first..UPDATE: Give me my money back. Im a single Father.UPDATE: After choosing not file bankruptcy Upright Law contacted a debtor whom I owned to announce I was no longer filing thinking I did no longer had the funds to pay at the time. Also theyve been sued for not returning peoples fees. So now they make a list of items that they claim as a services rendered when theyve done nothing to benefit yo . Be careful be wise... Check BBB complaints. They dont stand behind this company at all!

Starting the process was easy, stress free and made me feel great about my decision. I paid it off last year, and have been playing phone tag with a rep for months now... I have left several messages with my local attorney i was referred to and I really just want this to be completed. I will be happy to update my review once things changed but I feel I am getting the run arround. I have small kids and I need to get things rolling so I can get my finances back in order.

I was filing for bankruptcy with my wife until I needed to change that so I wasnt paying for my soon to be ex. They claimed that they couldnt split up the account so I cancelled it now they are refusing to pay me the money I have paid them. I was told I would paid within 30 days we are going on 60 days and all I here is we have a back log which means that they dont pay anyone in a timely manner. If they did they would not have a backlog and I would have my money. I had to file a complaint with the BBB and the attorney general office before the back log suddenly disappeared and my refund was delivered. Everyone needs to stops playing around with this company and contact the BBB and your attorney general office. You will be paid within a week of contracting them.

I paid $550 then canceled due to other factors and they didn’t refund any money they charged me $650 in fees for 2 phone calls

If I could give less than one star I would. Signed up with them back in January of last year. Took weeks to hear from the lawyer almost nearly a month and a half. After hearing from the lawyer found out that I made too much during that time to file for bankruptcy. Start of the process to request a refund and lost service. Every time I contacted them afterwards the calls with mysteriously drop until I finally was able to file for my refund in October. Was told it would only take 45 days for the refund to be processed. I called in after 45 days and they changed it to 45 business days. My 45th business day was December 20 and I still have no sign of a refund and keep getting told the same things over and over again. They constantly hang up on me and refused to give any consultation as to why they cannot truthfully release the refund. Told him I was contacting the Better Business Bureau and they said that that was my prerogative. Upon checking the Better Business Bureau’s website they have an F rating with multiple customer complaints as well as several additional lawsuits pending. I recommend not doing business with this company for any reason whatsoever.

I was going to file I called upright law I had it all paid for but decided not to file, they gave me a hard time about wanting my money back and I told them Im not filing, so then they told me Id have my money in 30 days, that went past I called the story changed o its 30 to 45 days that passed and now its we have a big back log and we wont forget about you youll get your money. At this point Im not sure I am getting my money I may have to call another lawyer to get my money back

I was honestly not sure if Bankruptcy was something I wanted to do. I called in and did not truly plan on going through with the process. I just wanted to call and ask questions. They answered every single question I had. Eventually, I ended up going through with it and it has been, so far, one of the best decisions I have made. UpRight Law helped find me an attorney that was close to my area. She was the coolest lawyer ever and made everything go smooth. Between UpRight and my attorney, I am very happy with the customer service. Even though I primarily worked with my attorney, UpRight would call and email me periodically to make sure everything was going well and if I needed anything from them. I highly recommend them if this is something you are considering!

I had a wonderful experience with upright law. They were very helpful and made such a painful portion of my life very quick and simple. They were very helpful by answering all my questions promptly and made the whole process easy to understand. My laser Gwen Hewitt was very helpful and worked on my case during hours that were convent with my long work schedule. She was very quick and efficient about getting all paperwork done and filed quickly. Upright law also worked with me on payments that were easy to pay and I was able to still pay my regular living expenses easily. I had a wonderful experience in a very tough time. So far my experience has been a painless one. I am quite aware that my filing will not take place until my debt is paid in full in regards to the remaining 1600 in which I am paying a $100 a month. Want to truly feel represented and cared about. I was and still am amazed at how helpful and caring they made me feel from the beginning. I felt a calm come over me after speaking with my attorney. Going through these rough times and fearing the worst being a single parent with kids I prayed for comfort and progress towards peace and Upright Law was the answer. Very kind and I am happy to be a client!

I had pressure of wage garnishments...Philip Johnson who represents upright law for initial contact to set up for services mislead me with my situation. He told me that if I paid in full that day which I did...they could instantly stop the garnishments. Well, let me tell you that is not true! In order to stop garnishment...the bankruptcy needs to actually be filed! I set up for services on 7-27-15 and it is 9-3-15 and they are just now getting to contact the attorney to push filing! If I had not been lied to initially...I would have been more aggressive calling each day to push my case through faster. I was patient, as I figured they could use a day or two to contact me back each time, due to the fact I know they are helping many people each day. Tip: make sure that you get your paperwork complied as fast as you can...so they can do their part to help you. They will give you a check list of what documents they need...ask for that list ASAP! Other than the initial misleading information from Philip...I have been very satisfied with my services with upright law. I would recommend them to others. Very persistent folks at Upright. If you have a question they will answer it quickly and if the person you are speaking with does not know the answer they will find someone who does. If I needed something accomplished they helped immediately and usually tasks that needed to be done were done the same day. They always returned my calls quickly. I greatly recommend Upright Law. You cant go wrong with these people...seriously.

This was an absolutely terrible experience. I have been paid in full for over a month now. Anytime that I attempt to contact my attorney I am unable to speak with him. I have an email from him that was never responded to and trying to communicate is a nightmare. My attorney is 45 minutes away and I am having to take time off work to be able to meet with him. I would rather my attorney meet with me to be able to sign paperwork locally since the case is being processed locally. My attorney talked down to me constantly from the first conversation I had. There is no sympathy with him for my situation. He makes me feel like I am scum and dirt. On top of this my attorneys secretary disclosed information about my case to another client which is unacceptable and a violation of client rights. STAY AWAY FROM UPRIGHT LAW. THEY MAKE IT SEEM GREAT UP FRONT THEN LEAD YOU THROUGH LIES AND MAKE IT HELL FOR YOU!

They charged me on the first call $600.00 then they transferred me to a real lawyer for a consultation the lawyer told me that he could not help me because I was in a different state that they do not practice law so I told him well I already paid for this and he sent my call to the financial department to get my money back ! I’m still waiting after they told me that would be 30 to 45 business days I will get my money back today is day number 83 and I’ve called constantly and I keep getting the same answer we’re backlogged that we don’t know when we’re going to pay you will be soon have patience with us I wonder why they’re backlogged! Oh, I know ! The reason why they’re backlogged because they got poor service and this is just the beginning what I’m planning to do I’ve had enough of this back-and-forth and I am just going to find a lawyer to deal with all these lawyers that are corrupt don’t use this service for it to happen to you the same way it happened to me ! WAS LIED TO BY LYLA REYES!! she told me within 2 to 3 months I should be able to start getting cards and in two years work on a house so i paid everything i had left to start this thinking it would start immediately. It wasnt until i talked to the lawyer for 4 min and 52 second that he told me they dont start until u finish paying ( i would have waited until the beginning of the year and used my taxes to pay in full instead of using everything i had left and paying what i cant afford EBERY month to have to wait a year anyway) and also told ME HURRY up and pay it. Then I canceled and they told me 7 to 10 business days until my refund...thos is ten days later no response no refund. I called and the SAME EXACT PERSON I TALKED TO THAT LIED TO ME IN THE BEGINNING ANDWERED AND TOLD ME I NEVER SPOKE TO HER AND THAT THEY ARE CHARGNG ME FOR WORK THEY DID.... THEY ARE STEALING 500 OF MY 700 I NEED FOR RENT FOR BILLABLE HOURS WHEN THEY DID NOT WORK FOR ANY HOURS EXPECIALLY NOT 500 WORTH ....THEY DIDNT EVEN GET MY CREDIT REPORT I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH RYAN FOR 4 MIN AND 54 SECONDS. THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR SIGNING OAPERS AND REFUSE TO GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY I NEED FOR RENT BECAUSE I HAVE COVID AND CANT WORK RIGHT NOW!!!!! OH. AND SHE LIED TO ME AND TOLD ME IT WASNT HER I SPOKE TO..I RECOGNIZE HER VOUCE ITS HER!!! So far my experience has been very good. Every consultant I have spoken to has given me information that is clear and easy to understand. They have answered all my questions to my satisfaction. They make me feel that I have an ally and can turn to the Upright firm for help if I encounter a problem. Each associate has told me to call back if I had further problem or questions. I had a short conversation with my attorney and she gave me assurance that everything would be done in a timely manner and to call her if necessary. Found a different way out of my situation and went to cancel after already paying them in full. Paid 1900+ and I am getting 890 back... Talk about hurting the people that you are helping....Replying to your reply: He spent 1 hour and 41 minutes on my case. translating to $750. Then there was the admin fee that i never heard of 350... and the other two people that were paid 150+ and 200+. I understand you need to be paid... not mad about that... I had 5 or 6 phone calls with my lawyer.. I didnt even get the paperwork completed and sent to him to have him do any actual work.

In 2017 we want things to be easily done while having hard to do results. Upright came through for me, and I recommend them to anyone and everyone.

I paid $1,300 and was told I would get my money back in 30-45 business days which is ridiculous but fine. They said they would only refund $700 of what I paid because I’d accrued $600 in fees from creditors calling in. Also ridiculous but I didn’t mind because they said they would be able to credit those fees when I was ready to file again. So I patiently waited and rolled with the punches. The issue is my refund was requested in November of 2018 and it is May 2019! ALMOST 6 MONTHS AGO! I call every now and then and every time they say they it should go out on Friday. There is no explanation outside of “finance is backed up”. I’ve tried several times to have it “escalated to a manager” which I’m sure means nothing with them. Now I have to contact the attorney general and/or another attorney to try to get my money back so I can try to move on with my life with another attorney. There is no excuse for this and I’m apparently not the only one since the better business bureau is no longer accepting complaints about them since there have been too many. Avoid this “law firm”. A bankruptcy is a huge decision in life and there is likely a possibility you will change your mind as many have. I’m not sure how they would have been if I paid it all upfront but judging by the way this refund is being handled I can only assume that it would be an awful experience.

I hired this company with the understanding that if I could to successfully file charter 7 bankruptcy I would be refunded my money in full. It turns out that unfortunately I cannot file. I was on retainer with the law firm for less than 5 days and when I called to cancel initially they were very understanding. However the second person who called let me know I would not be refunded in full because my attorney said I could pass the means test. Mind you I never met with my attorney because he did not have the time and he had very little information about me or my situation. I found out I could not file from other bankrupcy lawyers because the one I hired was never available. Long story short they told me they will not give me a full refund and the refund they will give me will take 45 days. When I started asking questions I was spoken to so poorly it was unbelievable. The man on the phone said his upper management told him not to even answer my phone calls but he was doing it out of courtesy. He accused me of being a liar and providing inaccurate information. He told me that I was trying to hide money from the government. I was hung up on 3 times by someone in customer service. It was definitely an unforgettable experience and to be completely transparent I am a retired veteran, full time single mom, full time student, and a full time home health respiratory therapist. I have better things to do than to sit on the phone and be disrespected by customer service representative and I wouldn’t be wasting my time writing this review unless I felt like I was truly violated. The company should be embarrassed and the company stole my money point blank period.

Its amazing that once you get to the point to realize that you have to do something over your financial affairs to find out that it cost a couple thousand dollars to say youre broke and yes payment split into two weeks first payment two weeks later it did put the bank account into the negative and we had a short 6-month bankruptcies that I feel this Law Firm gets it receives a two-star review because they had lack of communication multiple times we provided information that did not get put in an indoor file ultimately we had did not get a successful bankruptcy we got a closed status the attorney wanted hundreds and hundreds of dollars more just to add creditors that he jumped the gun on in the bankruptcy started and then one that charges $51 Predator afterwards winning all honest reality the court text $31 never how many people you want to put in at that time is all it cost so lawyers are always going to try to milk dollar somehow I dont know if at the time we are getting our services rendered to us if the professional provider had some personal issues going on that was affecting his performance however should never be cussed at by a professional you hire to your job for you just because you ask a question and when I do not fulfill their duties that youve hired and retain them for really entertaining not the thought of malpractice because they did not completely perform however its an shame to the profession to have a lawyer change paperwork up animal of proceedings 2 undercut the outcome I want youre fairly entitled to thats called conflict of interest hours of four Points had system make malpractice I miss you sorry hit on all four points for us and our services that we retain them for but hey there bankruptcy attorney so when your filing bankruptcy you all know just like I know everybodys going to take advantage of you because youre poor and youre out of money money what makes the world go round so lesson learned for me when I start getting some money back in and have a savings account like I did at one point I will Relish in the ability that good Financial stewardship affords Us in this fine country that we called the United States of America this country is not run on gasoline run on me hard-working backs of the poor peasant people that go out and do all the manual labor why all the smarty what not sitting there conditioners and towards exuberant prices to do nothing but make matters worse for you

I really appreciated the time that the lawyer spent with me on the phone. She was so patient with me and all my questions. She told me that alawyer would call me the next day to assure me that this firm would take care of me. As stated, I received a call the next day and it was the lawyer that is taking my case. He has an office in my city and will meet with me at a later date. I feel that I am in good hands with my financial dilemma.

Misleading company...they told me I qualified for chapter 13 and after I paid them $1800 their attorney said I did not qualify. They still have not issued a refund and it has been over 90 days. Do not give them your money!!

This was a wonderful process until I settled half of my debt on my own and requested to close my account. After which it took a few days of playing phone tag to get the refund process started. On January 17 the refund was sent to the Accounting Dept of Upright Law and I was told that it would take between 30-45 days to process the claim. So I expected to hear that it has been processed and the funds released shortly after this. But that didnt happened. I was told that I had been placed on a priority list and that they were working to solve this issue. Today is April 8, 2019 and it is day 55. I am still getting what I feel is the run around and am utterly disgusted that this is a Law Firm. I truly hope that anyone that reads this review stops and thinks about checking into this firm more closely. If at all possible I would give them no stars as a review.

The Upright law team did a great job for me and made it easy. Most of the process being on line or by phone so you dont have to waste time and money going to meetings was a bonus. The whole team was both professional and expedient, they never leave you hanging. I definitely recommend using this company.
