The worst auto repair shop I have ever been to in my life. I went there with a lose break pedal and they told me that i had to get a certain part replaced and they tried replacing it for me. That didn’t work so they tried it again with another part and that didn’t help either. So i told them to put the original part back in and leave it as it is. They ruined the car. Before i went to the repair shop, my brake pedal was lose but at least the brakes were working, after they put the original part back in, my brakes stopped working completely and I had to take my car back home using my hand brake. Their excuse was we are trying our best to fix it. It is perfectly okay with me to waste my time (2 days) but don’t ruin my car. Absolutely dissatisfied. If you like your car and value your time, do not go to this shop.

This place is very reasonable while the dealership continues to rip us off. They were very nice, fast and informative. I asked for brakes all the way around. I was given the wrong brakes for the back by Advance Auto but they told me to save my money and I still had time on the back.

Bad experience! Took my Honda Accord for rotor and caliper replacement, they agreed on a price and just doubled after starting the work. They arent ready to charge labor by hour as well with me bringing the parts.Management should take care of such activities in future to avoid losing customers.

I had my car towed there because it stopped running on my way home. It was the closest place. Their repair would be $2500 and I didnt have the money. They said $120 for diagnostic problem which was very common for that type of vehicle. Meanwhile I was sorting out towing from their place, their mechanic offered me $300 to buy off my car. Just wished I never had to use them, felt really bad...

Used to be open til 2am pre Covid. Could get an early morning or night oil change on the fly. Always quick, not too much talking. Small deals to Pro drivers (cabs, Uber/Lyft, etc.).

Friendly people, no-nonsense, he asked me what I needed to be done and his price was more than reasonable. I called around on Fathers Day to about eight or nine different repair shops in the area to get prices for spark plug installation in a Chevy Captiva. Most people were closed and the ones that were open were booked. The ones that were open but not booked were ridiculously expensive talking about $395 just to put in 4 spark plugs. I called Halsted Auto Repair he told me $65 and did the job within 30 minutes I am more than satisfied thank you very much! I will definitely be back when I need work done.

My first time ever stopping in and i left work mixed emotions. I was greeted by a younger guy who barely spoke good English he directed me to the guy who was organizing the line of customers. Nice guy.He directed me to a Mexican whos first words to me wasyou will get a ticket parked there. How when Im standing right here and youre about to look at the car?So I pull it in and he then tells me that I need new rear pads and rotors which is something that I already knew. So now Im standing around waiting for a price.so the younger guy comes back up to me and ask me whats wrong with the car and I begin to tell the younger guy was wrong and that u was waiting for a price, then the main mechanic yells at me and him I already told this guy whats wrong with the carthats when the younger guy tells me that I need to go purchase the parts. Which is something that I did not know.I didnt like the rudeness of the mechanic so I didnt go buy the parts immediately. The next morning I went to buy the parts didnt realize how low-cost they were and decided to change the brakes myself and not deal with the rudeness of the mechanic. However I do like the fact that I can go purchase my parts and take it to them to go put it on so maybe I will give them a try but hopefully I dont run into the same rude person who was in charge the last time I visited. This entire team was Mexican when I visited if anyone knows if the team is always Mexican or have had any problems with the same Mexican guy please let me know

First time going there and I just randomly pulled in when I saw it. They helped me right away and ran a diagnostic for free. It is close to home and I knew the problem was a simple oxygen sensor (I needed to get emissions testing), so was trying avoiding chain mechanics like Midas. They were straight forward, honest, reasonable and even came in below original quoted price. He called me when part was ready, I was able to walk to Target and shop while being fixed. They were super fast and car passed emissions!

Every experience we have had with them from oil changes to inspections and repairs have been 5 star. They are professional, friendly and honest. They do not take advantage of you or try to push unnecessary repairs on you.

Really fast and efficient! I came in for a tire repair at 10pm, there were about 5 cars ahead of me and the wait in line + repair time was less than 20 minutes. I live 3 hours away and appreciated that they were open & able to get me back on the road so quickly

Great service! Decent pricing for a downtown shop. Drive up, first come/first served, which is odd but rather convenient. They will diagnose while you wait (chairs right on the shop floor, you watch while they figure out what the problem is) and give you a quote. I didn’t feel pressured after they gave me the quote. I don’t let many shops touch my Wrangler, but would go back here anytime. Only downside: they don’t speak great English.

I had a nail in my tire on a Sunday night at 11pm... leaking slowly... my dilemma was that if I didnt deal with the tire that moment, by the next day that tire would be completely flat. I remembered this shop is open all night, so I cruised over there as fast as I could. They were able to pull the nail and repair the tire in about 10 minutes time - back up to 100% for a grand total of eleven bucks. The guys were very courteous; I was extremely impressed and glad they were there when I needed them.

|Very Bad Customer Service| Arrogant Owner | Unprofessional Behavior| Use cheap unauthentic parts|:Normally I dont write reviews but my experience with them was so bad that it forced me to write one. HALSTED Auto is by far the worst auto repair shop in Chicago. I took my CRV to them to replace an oil pan. Not only did they overcharge for the parts, but the repair turned out to be sub-standard as well. As it turned out, the parts that they used for repair were of very bad quality as I once again started having oil leakage issues 3 months after the repair. Either that or they were unable to diagnose the correct root cause.But the worst part was their customer service. The owner lacks basic etiquette and talks rudely if someone starts asking questions about the repair and quality of parts used. I needed to retrieve an updated bill for the repair to see if my insurance company could process a claim as I had extended accidental warranty on some parts, but the guy just refused to do that. The fact that I live 6 hours away from Chicago made matters worse as nobody answers the phone and even if they do, they are unwilling to help out. The bill that was finally provided after procrastinating for 2.5 months was a very manual unauthentic one which did not even have basic information like Vehicle Registration number, mileage in/out leave alone the diagnosis details and repair summary. Ultimately it was rejected not because the claim did not cover the parts, but because the required details were not mentioned on the bill. The insurance company was unable to get in touch with anyone from the shop even after several attempts and hence finally decided to reject the claim.I will never go to this shop again and caution others who plan to do so.

Alert!This place has no respect for their customers. I drive Uber and Used to make oil change from here because of they are close to down town. Even though, I was their regular customer, they show you no respect as a customer. When you come, no one will talk to you and you have talk to each mechanic if he is free but then they will not even tell you how long you have to wait.They also over charge you for everything from minor things such as tire repair to break changes.My friend who is also an Uber driver changed his breaks with them before two weeks only because i have brought him here. After two weeks he found out his breaks aren’t new and they were making sound and when he came to talk to them about that, they said we can’t help you.This place is a pure ripoff be aware Uber drivers and taxi drivers. Don’t give your money to a thief that doesn’t respect you! They don’t even deserve 1 star.

I came to repair a flat tire. They repaired the tire. but they forgot to put the air cap on the rim. When I came to ask, they behaved very badly and did not even want to look if the plug was there. I do not recommend this place they are very rude people

The owner is good guy, just one of employee attitude is awful, no hi, no listen, no answer, I always went there for small urgent repairs, but after that I wont recommend this place to all my friends. Do not go this place!!! Customer service is the key to success, the owner should know that, teach the employees how to talk.

Such a nice 24 hours repair shop

Very rude ,hang up on me .khan is very reasonable,they changed my rack and pinion but said the motor is bad ,i bought another to put in ,now they re acting funny, after they collected $275 .My thing is if you know you cant do something dont start. The steering is electric therefore the car doesnt require tear down,just screwing out two main bolts and plugging in power for the motor. Plug and play $275

The man lied to my face! I went in to get a tire plugged, freshly pierced with a nail and still pretty full from the drive over. The mechanic told me the hole was so large it needed two so it would cost a little extra. $20 for two plugs, one of which was completely unnecessary. I understand it wasnt a high yielding repair but the dishonesty and overcharging is still very unethical!

Service cost is relatively cheaper than other shops in the area and prices will be discussed up front before services are rendered, so there are no surprises at the end. Theyre quick and even open late till 5am. Taxi and Lyft/Uber drivers get a special discount.

Charged me $250 for a break job. It should have been $200. He did take me in at 5 PM and made calls right away to get the breaks. I was done in an hour. I will recommend to friends but might be back.Update, had a problem with my routers and they fixed it at no charge. Very cool!

I used to go there a lot, but today I guess it was last time. Asked them to fix front driver tire, he said its fine, I was like ok. Then he figured out that rear tire need to be fixed, first he couldnt then other guy joined then they figured out that they can fix it. I went home, came out two hours later, my front driver tire is flat, they forgot to close a cover. Now at 11pm Im replacing it.Hate mondays

Do not let these guys work on your car. They said they would charge me $35 to put a set of break pads. Then they said it would be $90 because they need to bleed the breaks. You always bleed the breaks when you change the pads. I dont know what the $35 was for. I brought my own break pads btw. I drove off instead of paying these clowns. They all act like your car will break if they dont work on it. Its all a scam

They charged me $60 for two regular lights. I have been there before they charged me $10 each light for rideshare drivers. But this time they cheated me. I told them Im rideshare drive to the cashier but he was just listening to the mechanic. He is overcharging.

I showed up about 15 minutes before they opened with a flat tire during a huge rain storm and they were gracious enough to pull my car in and bend my wheel back to working condition.

The worst and the last place you can go. If your like your car and you respect your self don’t go there. My car was brook down I took it there they make in bad situation to leave it thereand make you pay more .They fixed it and they make me damage in my car. When I asked them they told it wasn’t as who make the damage.

The nice guys diagnosed my car. Showed me the problem then showed me a worn part they had around the shop to explain it further.

These guys are awesome!! Just need quick help with removing a rusted out screw and they took me right away, solved the problem and charged a fair price.

I bought my own parts and they put my break pads on for $45. He told me the rotors were still good, when he easily could have lied and installed them too.

Horrible place, I stopped there for an emergency on my tire (screw inside) and after putting my vehicle inside the shop one of the boy told me to take it out to meet a taxi driver who arrived at the place after my. First time and last time there because that was so disrespectful and inconsiderate.

I came here in the morning, and a guy said one of the mechanics would look at my car in 5 minutes. However, 30 minutes later no one had looked at my car yet, so I said, No big deal. Ill just come back later. When I come back that night, a mechanic literally says he wont even look at it without $45. They wasted my time twice.
