EDIT: This edit is strictly a review on professionalism.Even after sending a video showing the damage and source of leakage from the relief valve, proving that the leak wasn’t properly inspected nor was the pressure valve relief valve checked, I did not receive a courtesy visit from a tech, and had only received a redundant excuse on why it wasn’t addressed in the first place. A competent technician would’ve attempted to recreate the issue and diagnose until found and fixed. Richard is a good person, don’t get me wrong, but my boiler is now down less than a week from his service which spanned only a 40 time frame, which should’ve taken 2 hours for a full clean, calibration, and possible pipe/nozzle replacement.I will not be paying $185 for subpar service and customer support, it’s just not happening. I will be switching to Saucier here in Southington who within hearing about my experience had waived the emergency fee and diagnosed the issue within 15 minutes ON A SUNDAY. Expansion tank, and feeder valve. Was that so hard?Original: Just had them come out for the first annual service since we’ve been here, there’s still an issue with my relief valve that hopefully we can work out. But their service went well with minor issues that Richard has been in communication about.

I was looking for a new company to tune-up my boiler on an annual basis. I was unsatisfied with my current company after a merger led to their best people leaving, so I was quite pleased when someone recommended a local company. I used NCSs website to book a tune-up of the boiler and received a window of 8-10am for arrival. Rich showed up at 9:30am, and to my surprise, he had been here before; when I had my HVAC installed a year prior, my HVAC company contracted some work out to NCS and I liked his work (but always mentally associated it with the HVAC company).He worked efficiently and the boiler is working great and at a significant savings compared to what I had been paying to my previous company. I am very pleased with how well this went and look forward to using NCS for years to come.

I HIGHLY recommend Rich Van Fleet for any/all HVAC work you need.He is a classy guy, strong businessman who understands his business is all about word-of-mouth - and so he treats projects big OR small the exact same way. Just so everyone understands this is a real review, and not Richs cousin writing in his favor - I didnt know him from a adam before calling him about my problem. Even still, he immediately got back to me. Once I met with him, I realized he wasnt the usual sketchy or rough around the edges type of contractor that weve all had the misfortune of dealing with. Ive been a resident of Cheshire, CT for the past 3 years now and Ive had every HVAC Contractor/Energy Efficiency company/person through my condo to try and figure out why I wasnt able to reach optimal set temperature in the winter months. 69/70 Degrees was what I had my thermostat set to, and I was only able to get the Condo to 64 degrees on a good day. Needless to say I was throwing money out the window on a monthly basis because my furnance was running non-stop.In an attempt to simplify my experience: Rich is a normal genuine guy. He was timely with feedback and scheduling our face-2-face meeting. Didnt try to up-sell when diagnosing my problem, in fact he talked me out of purchasing a new furnace (which saved me probably $4,000 - $5,000 dollars). He explained to me (in laymans terms) that my problem was with the existing ductwork and NOT my furnace. Even went so far as to show me the pictures of the detached ductwork that was causing the issue with loss of air pressure and efficiency of furnace. He earned me trust to the point where I felt comfortable having him come to my house while my pregnant fiance was home alone, so he and his team could fix the problem (obviously I had her keep the phone on the first time god forbid - but Rich and his team were complete class-acts).See below pictures for proof. Worked with me on pricing, and for once I didnt walk away feeling I got robbed by gunpoint. I have/would recommend him to my mother, sisters and friends.

I had a furnace not working unexpectedly. Called Northern he was able to come the same day. He attempted to repair without replacing module wasnt possible. Had to replace it. 428.00. He stated he would give me best price he could, I thanked him as I have a newborn baby and husband only one working. Rich said dont worry about it. Entire job is on me. I was astonished ! I asked what about the service fee of 90.00 he wouldnt even take that. Blessed me and my family! I will be calling him for all future needs. There are still good ppl in the world. Rich is one of them.

This company does good work at a fair price. They show up on time and are extremely professional. They do not try to oversell you on more expensive options if you do not need them. They have done two projects on our house and the results and experience were excellent.

Rich is very knowledgeable and he does a good job with furnace installation but that’s about it!Here are the negatives:1) He didn’t pull the permit as it was stated in the contract, so I had to pull the permit myself but he did reimburse us for the permit price.2) He didn’t register the warranty of products to the manufacturer, after stating he would, after many phone calls to him about issue of registration, I gave up and called the manufacturer and provided them with the proper information to register the product within the time frame needed to secure the warranty.3). He did Spring maintenance on our central air conditioning unit. The Fall maintenance for our heater was a nightmare, this is because he didn’t come at the appointed time, I tried to contact him to reschedule (giving his the benefit of the doubt), he never returned my many messages, and I had to find another HVAC company that was recommended by the manufacturer to service our air conditioning/heating units.

After reading the many positive reviews online and meeting with Rich, I felt comfortable with giving him my business and becoming a new customer of Northern Comfort Services.I had 2 AC condensers and 2 air handlers replaced by Rich and Chris.I came away very impressed. They were professional, honest, down to earth guys who delivered quality work and service!I have no hesitation recommending them to family and friends.

We just switched to Northern Comfort after dropping an expensive full service oil company for an independent provider. We had our first cleaning/service today. Rich arrived on time and explained everything as he went along. He also explained why we did not need a high priced service plan. We are confident that our needs will continue to be met should something unexpected arises during the winter. We are also glad to be using a local company who takes ownership for the work he provides.

Once again, I had Northern Comfort come out to my office warehouse in Cheshire to install a new Google Nest thermostat as they did in my home. As always, they came out the same day I called and installed the new nest I bought so I can save a little on my gas bill. I hired Northern Comfort Services to replace my warm air oil furnace to a new Spirit.Rich and Chris were on time, set up covering over the carpets so nothing got on them when removing the old furnace. They both did an awesome removal and installation.When done all was neatly cleaned up. I would highly recommend Northern Comfort Services and they definitely are 5 stars in rating.

Richard and staff are courteous, prompt and most of all highly skilled professionals. They have serviced my air conditioning and heating system for many years now and all are maintained in excellent condition.They also installed a hot water heater which is also functioning perfectly.I would recommend them to neighbors and friends alike.

Our central air went out in the middle of this heatwave we are having. Was told they were pretty booked up but that they would squeeze us in. I was away from home and my furnace broke down. My neighbor contacted Rich and he replaced my furnace the next day. There has never been a time the Van Fleet brothers have left my family without any heat or air conditioning. Their work is very professional and reliable. They always clean up after themselves and never leave a mess. I would recommend their services to anyone for seasonal upkeep or emergency service.

Rich answered promptly when my furnace was obviously in distress, told me he would be out at 9:30pm on a Friday and came at the time he said he would. He quickly diagnosed the problem, told me what he needed to fix it and other issues that may also be contributing to the problem, how to manage overnight until he could return and what to look out for as well. He returned on Saturday, at the promised time, determined that there was a further issue with the pump (motor stressed out the motor and caused it to burn out), replaced the parts efficiently, cleaned up after himself, was conscientious and willing to share when asked questions about the process and the issues. I would recommend Rich for emergency service and will continue to call him in the future if I have issues, am likely to get a service contract with him as well as they seem reasonable and his service is excellent.
