We came here looking to get a membership, but wanted to give the store/experience a try before purchasing one. We reached out and was allowed a one-day pass to try the the store before moving forward with the membership. We noticed that a lot of the prices just met, or barely beat local pricing on items, but drastically limit the variety available. Local places offer the same, or better prices, and better variety for similar items. I was pleased with the deli section though, but they refused to cut fresh meat/cheese slices as the same brand/option had already been cut the day of or the day before and provided in the cooler section.After walking the store, we waited in the long line. They seemed extremely understaffed, one working a register and one working the customer service desk. We finally got to the front of the self-checkout where we needed an associate to bypass the card scan as we just had the day-pass. However, once they input the code, we were greeted with a 20% surcharge on the items. Im guessing that is to force people into purchasing a membership as the final surcharge amount might come out to the same amount of a membership, but we were not ever informed of an extra charge after speaking with the customer service desk.Due to us not being impressed with the selection, prices, or customer service, we decided to cancel the transaction and go elsewhere. Had we known there wouldve been an extra % fee on the transaction for a day-pass, after explaining that we were looking to get a membership but wanted to test the waters, we wouldve passed on it all together. Overall, the experience was way below sub-par and well avoid any future membership.

Customer Service has become increasingly slower over the past year. We’ve been member for years but this store is going downhill. Curbside doesn’t work as advertised and they don’t answer the phone when you call.Besides that, great store though not as good as Costco, but next best thing in this area.

One of perks of buying tires from BJs is road hazard is built in the price of tires but it is only good if they ,(BJ) has personnel to work the service Dept. The last few times there is only ONE person working the service Dept. It does not matter if you have an appointment-you wait until the mechanic can get to you or leave. Im not sure who to blame-management only having ONE person in the shop not caring if there is an accident leaving their personnel to survive on their own or the tech for allowing it. All I know is BJs business practices is going down hill. Not sure if I will stick around much longer

Beware of BJs automatic renewal. We were unknowingly members for 2 years because we knew nothing about the 1 800 number to opt out of automatic renewal. Their process should be you are year to year members unless you request auto renewal. We will never join BJs ever again since they decided they have to trick you to pay for your membership.

Need exit and enter signs at the gas station. Too many people using the exit to get gas. Also 3 accidents there while I was filling up.

Just craziness!!! Such a bad decision on Bjs part. Why would you but raw meats next to vegetables? Big health code violation. Definitely canceling my membership. I have a photo but they wont let me upload it

I needed tires and they had a sale. Perfect. After having to call several times to talk to someone to see if they had tires in my size, I was told to just order online to ensure they would have them. I did that on April 6th and set an appointment for the 8th since he also told me that ordering online meant next-day delivery, which was faster than if he ordered them. Cool. The morning of the 8th, I call to see if the tires came in. Again, lots of wait time to get an answer to finally have the front desk tell me there was a family emergency, so no one would be in tires until an hour, hour and a half after my appointment time. Strike one. No one came in to reschedule? Not a single acknowledgement that this was problematic as I had taken time off work to get this done, let alone called the existing appointments? Nope. Nothing. I called back at the time I was told... After several other scheduling shenanigans, including being told they had me on the wrong day (I scheduled through the online option so I dont know how that would honestly even happen), then asking me to come that at 6-something (I was working late to make up the time since I had already wasted the day and now needed another day/time to accomplish the same thing), he then said they could only find 3 of my 4 tires. He assured me they would keep looking and get in touch... The afternoon of the 10th (so ordered the 6th, their cancelation on the 8th and nothing since), I called. After *5* phone calls, all with long hold times, being hung up on every time, including when an associate told me the manager was right here and it would just be a second, I wasted over an hour trying to find out where my tires were. Manager finally got on the phone, just to transfer me to tires... Where they told me they couldnt do anything, but my card hadnt been charged so I was fine (I had already ascertained otherwise through online banking). Then I had to call corporate to get a refund, and what do you know? My card had been charged on April 6th. Now I have to wait 5 to 10 business days for a refund... Which means waiting longer to buy the same tires somewhere else. At no point did anyone acknowledge their colossal screw ups, the time they wasted both in my personal and work life, or offer to try to fix things. Nothing. Things happen. As a professional, you acknowledge and make amends as needed. None of that was done and THAT is why I will not renew my membership nor every recommend them for tires, sales or otherwise. The lack of communication, professional management, and overall disregard for the customers experience is just unacceptable. Its not that hard to say, Sorry, we messed up. Lets get this fixed, rather than sigh and keep putting the customer on hold for someone else to deal with.

Overall I like BJ’s. For the most part the value of my membership is pretty good. I have a major gripe though. I have been paying for a membership to BJ’s for many years now and for an unacceptably long time now the air pump has been out of commission.If this were someplace like a Wawa I could understand, but for a place where I pay for a membership, I am extremely displeased that one of the features is not working and hasn’t been working for a long time.

The new system for using BJs coupons is a disaster. Let me clip my own, or make them clipless again. The advantage of good coupon prices isnt worth the trouble. Sams and Food Lion are less complicated.

Unbelievable! After being a member for over 20 years, I foolishly thought that I could enjoy reasonable expectations of a carefree shopping experience in the Chesapeake Square location, however, I was wrong! I placed an order in the bakery providing contact information as requested by the bakery staff member only to find out at the register purchasing another item that I was being made fun of based on communication in the bakery. This is BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. The item I purchase was large and I found no assistance from the teen cashier in getting the item to a cart. As I left the store, some man stood right behind me and yelled something at the top of his lungs giving me a headache. Unbelievable!!!!Reluctantly, I returned today to retrieve my bakery order only to find more of the same treatment as yesterday. There were two staff members roaming the store not in red t-shirts, one a black girl named Dominque, and another white 50-60 year old bleached blonde woman who circulated near the front desk, who were especially noticeable through their behavior around me. I detest spending $100 or more on each trip to this store only to be treated like this. I would NOT recommend you visit this store. The customer service and customer experience is HORRIBLE. I will report this in more detail to corporate. There are better stores close by where the prices are reasonable, the staff is trustworthy...and NO MEMBERSHIP FEES. Ill go there. You should, too.

An Italian friend recommended BJs to me. For a European in the US, the deli is a dream because you find a wide selection of European ham and cheese for a very fair price. The broad selection and the possibility to save at the pump complete the offer... I really can recommend BJs.

It would be nice if deli dept answered the phone. I ordered a big round sandwich last year and it was not ready when i got there.had to wait for them to make one. Thought i would give a second chance this year. I have tried to call this morning several times and nobody answers the phone. I want to check to see if it was ready. Lets hope so.

Stephanie Vanderpool in the tire department was so incredibly helpful. I couldnt ask for better service. She helped me find the tires best for my car and attended to my vehicle no sooner than I sat down. I will always get my tires from Bjs.

I really Missed shopping at Wholesale Clubs but since being here, Costco and Sam’s isn’t close to home. I’ve seen BJ’s a few times and even got advertisements in the mail. I’ve stayed clear simply because I never heard of it. Finally I decided to check it out and I’m satisfied. The price of the memberships are similar to Costco. This place isn’t as big as the others but you can still get your wholesale needs here. For everyday household items like toilet tissue, laundry detergent, etc., you just can’t beat shopping wholesale.

22 October 2018: 2 years ago I had a set of 4 tires replaced by the service technicians at BJs in Chesapeake, Va. Since that time Ive had the tires rotated at 10,000 miles and needed tire service twice. Ive had to wait an extremely long time to get the service accomplished. Today I arrived at 11 in the morning and made an appointment for 3:00p.m. in the afternoon of the same day. I arrived for that appointment on time. The bay already had 2 vehicles and only 2 staff to provide service. An additional vehicle was in the parking lot waiting service and was pulled in ahead of mine. Im certain the staff at this facility dont understand the concept of an appointment. Customer always suffers at this facility. The staff is also required to service propane and when that need arises the technicians have to stop any tire service in order to address propane.

Please keep your subcontractors from Direct TV restrained to one area of the store and let it not be the front door. Just so you know 97% of your customer base is not there shopping for TV service providers. If this continues you will loose business.

This BJs needs an express(8 items or less) lane. Someone buying one item should not have to wait behind 25 people with 50 items in their cart. Thisis not very efficient and I did not renew my membership for 2 yearsbecause of this. I guess I will just buy gas until my membership expires.

I love this BJs!!!! All of the staff there truly goes above and beyond for its customers. I was in search for a specific toy for my son over Christmas (one you could only find at BJs) that was sold out at all of their stores, I called at least 20. I gave their customer service my phone number and told the sweet lady that I didnt care if it was after Christmas, to please call me if someone returns one. Sadly we were unable to find it by Christmas :( Two weeks after Christmas I receive a call from them to inform me that someone returned one! THEY ACTUALLY REMEMBERED AND TOOK THE TIME TO CALL ME! I am still in shock. My son was over the moon to get his special toy, its rare you actually find exceptional customer service. Thank you for caring, it meant a lot to me and my son.

Tire service is horrible. Just BAD! Its gotten steadily worse in recent years. Ive been buying Michelin tires here for over 20 year, but I am not likely to ever buy here again. When you get lifetime rotation and balance, theyll put you through hell to keep your purchase in proper condition. The tire service center here is the worst I can imagine! Whoever manages it should be fired!

Rude to customer rolls eyes at customers are rude when checking out accusing customers of coming in twice when they haven’t just plan rude. Won’t help look for electronics if you need them. Never want to go back. Horrible experience.
