This shop was excellent. They diagnosed and performed the needed maintenance on my BMW transmission for a much more reasonable price than the local dealership. They were honest and very knowledgable with the explanation of the repair. The estimate was accurate and they completed my repair ahead of schedule. They also worked with me so I could drop off and pick up my car outside of their regular business hours. I would take my BMW there again and recommend them highly. Thank you Adrian.

If you want to be treated fairly, and your mechanic to treat your car emergency with the urgency necessary to get it done ASAP and the care to reassure you that youre safe ***LOOK NO FARTHER***Twice they were able to fix my car castrophe faster than my expected and were able to beat my I need it by Monday on Thursday morning personal crunch. AND the customer service, price and workmanship was better than the VW dealership.

Accidental customer here...thrown belt and recommended shop refused as it is one of ‘those european cars’. Found Auto Teknika and couldn’t be happier. Wayne and Aaron were upfront, kept me posted on working it into schedule and costs, and delivered. Personally, i like the fact that it’s near cafe and a beer hall...no problem waiting the afternoon for no-notice repairs to be done and done well and reasonably.

Brilliant technicians. As evident on the other reviews here, they take pride in their work and stand by their prices, policies, and are very straightforward with the customer. With that in mind, if youre looking for one of the best places to get your German vehicle cared for, as I was, and youre willing to pay a fair price for it, expect a no hassle experience here. Ive been here numerous times and have had no issues with the service provided.

Im disappointed because I took my BMW to them before after hearing a great recommendation from a friend. My first experience was absolutely top notch from start to finish. Great customer service, a job well done, and the price seemed to be on par. I was happy to have found a good reliable mechanic to take my car to. My car is in need of repairs again so I called them to ask a few questions and unfortunately had an entirely different experience. The guy I spoke to on the phone was very unwilling to answer my questions, couldnt get me off the phone fast enough, and was very rude. After that, I decided to shop around and see if anyone else is out there who would be easier to work with. The BMW dealership is super busy, so not an ideal option. And there dont seem to be any other good options in town that I can find. Im not sure if what I experienced on the phone was a fluke and I just caught the wrong person on a bad day, or if thats how it is there now. I may try again to see if I have any better results. Its just disappointing to get that kind of rude customer service, after what was such a positive experience the first time I worked with them.(Also, yes I am writing this review under a pseudoname online- Chuck Finley is not my real name but Ive read some of the other reviews people have made, and have seen how Auto Teknika has responded by publicly posting personal email exchanges, which I think to be slightly crossing the line. And also how theyve publicly posted client information, such as as the one post where they mentioned the people with the last name Campbell they have in their customer system...As a customer, I would definitely not want them posting to the world what car I have, and what I took it to the shop for.. Maybe its a personal preference but those are my reasons. But yes I am an actual customer here and have taken my car to get worked on at Auto Teknika before)

We took our Porsche Cayenne here for engine hesitation problems. The shop took great care of us and fixed the problem that the Porsche dealer did not when we took it there for the same issue. Auto Teknika folks were timely, had great communication and very reasonable pricing.

Adrian and his team have maintained my 1987 420 SEL Mercedes for 20 years. As the original owner I would judge them to be the best group who have ever worked on my car. Whether it is routine maintenance and service or diagnostic work to solve complex technical issues they come through every time and their costs are very fair and reasonable.Thank you Jim Farrell

Auto Teknika brake service on our Audi was fantastic. They replaced our brakes with OEM products the same day we brought our car in for service. Since we were traveling through Charlottesville during our vacation their fast friendly service was appreciated.

I brought my e90 BMW to Auto Teknika to troubleshoot a suspension problem that two prior shops could not help me with. Jeff and the mechanics helped to diagnose the problem, and even sent photos to the suspension component company to obtain replacement parts under warranty. After discussing my situation with the team, I eventually chose to uninstall the previous suspension components and ordered parts for them to replace the suspension. Their prices are extremely fair, and I have already recommended this shop to my friends who need a trustworthy and reliable mechanic. I will take my car to Auto Teknika for as long as I own this vehicle.

Consistently thorough in their work and detailed in their explanation for the work performed. The price is worth it for a job well done. Certainly, preferable over the local dealership (BMW).

The person who said they think their customers are stupid is probably correct. The service here was quite poor, and I clearly felt like they were trying to take advantage of me the entire time I was in contact with them. They quoted me way above everyone else, even the dealership, and had no sense of helpfulness when discussing price. I left two stars instead of one because they did not do any actual work, so I am not sure how good their actual work is. Nonetheless, I will never take my business here.

Great customer service, and also great care of my car! I took my BMW into Auto Teknika to have some maintenance work done on the car, but also noticed a small oil leak not long before taking it in. I have to note how much I have appreciated being able to have conversation with the guys about what needed doing, and have never feel like I am being up-sold, or hood-winked as to whats needed. A very professional crew, who have won a repeat customer in me! Thanks, all!

Excellent and knowledgeable.But know that they are stereotypically German...efficient, and can be kind of brusque if you give them unnecessary information. Just give them the facts as best as you can, and youll be fine.

They blocked my number never diagnosed my car said they pulled the car apart and never gave me a promising date made me pay them cash because they didn’t want me to call my bank and say something didn’t do anything paid $90 for a diagnosis but did nothing worst shop I’ve ever been to will never go back don’t recommend

These guys are really great. I called to have my brakes looked at, and they took my car on the same day and called me before close to discuss options. The dealer had quoted me $4k for new rotors and pads on all 4 corners, but Jeff said the fronts can be resurfaced and the rears were only showing normal wear. They were able to complete the work the next day, and I was good to go.What I like most about these guys is:- They saw me immediately- They didnt try to upsell me. They only fixed what needed to be fixed that moment -- and they fixed it instead of replacing it outright. One day, I will certainly need new rotors, but they were honest and told me I didnt need to do it right now.5 Stars.PS: One of the dudes had a BMW tattoo on his forearm, so you know they are legit.

I took my 1991 Audi here after having second thoughts on taking it to the dealership. The front desk guys were helpful and friendly. I never talked to any of the techs, but the owner, Adrian, was friendly and knowledgeable. They did a good job correcting a poorly done timing belt job by another shop/the previous owner.Unfortunately it took 3 weeks and came in at almost double their estimate, but a lot of custom work was involved.I would, and plan on, taking my car here again.

I drive a 2008 328xi coupe. At 125K miles a number of parts needed to be replaced: valve cover gasket; valvetronic motor and eccentric sensor; transfer case; and drive shaft. The transfer case and drive shaft were critical. Now, the car drives like new. In fact, its sheer driving pleasure! I highly recommend Auto Teknika. They love cars, are very knowledgable, and provide excellent, honest service and advice. Moreover, their labour costs are a fraction of the major auto-repair dealers.

Took my classic here to replace a hard to reach hose. Knew they had to remove the manifold and discussed it with them before leaving my car. They then called me back and told me that I needed to replace my stock dual carb setup with more modern EFI for $6000+ to address a vacuum leak issues causing the vehicle to run rough. Took my classic to a real BMW place in Richmond and turns out the vacuum leak was cause by the failure to remove the old manifold gasket when reinstalling with a new gasket. Richmond mechanic found it in less than an hour, fixed it and car ran great. What amateurs, and they think the car owners are stupid - guess we are if we go here.

I am only giving these people one star because it is the lowest rating. When an issue arose with my vehicle I requested to speak to the manager. I received an email. I asked again to speak with the manager and I was sent a text. Refusal to speak to me regarding my car is not the way to do business. Not to mention they gave me my car back in worse shape than when I left it with them and they refuse to do anything about it. the manager sent me a condescending and rude email with threats!! these people are so unprofessional. they are not worthy of even one star. I am in shock about the way the manager, Adrian, has treated me and the way he runs his poor excuse for a business.

Update - After multiple emails back & fourth with Tek this was the resolution...OK, now I get it. Is Judith Carlin your mother or a much older friend? You 33, her 57. Makes sense.You, not being the legal owner, have no standing in this matter.Perhaps she might, but we are quite blameless. We use Pentosin 05/40 full synthetic oil from Germany, used it in all those oil changes. Last one was 01/03/19. So it blew up in April? Find someone else to blame; might start with yourself...TekBE VERY CAREFUL! I have utilized Auto Teknika many times over the last few years and paid the outrageous costs for regular oil changes, most recently in January 2019 and July 2018. On April 20th my engine blew up with less than 80k miles!!!! Upon further inspection by a certified automotive shop, the oil changes were not completed.

From days when this business was called Eastham Engineering until the present, the highly qualified mechanics at this shop have kept my old Volvos, then old Mercedes, running in top shape. They are honest and sometimes have to tell you things that you dont want to hear like it would cost you more to repair your car than it is worth. That hurts, especially when you love your old beat up Mercedes! I moved out of the area nearly 12 years ago, but still take my 1990 420SEL and my 2000 430CLK for repair at this shop. When I absolutely cant get there and have to have work done in Northern Virginia, I am stunned by how much more expensive it is to have the repairs done. But, the owner of the local shop, who too is a Bosch certified professional, always tells me that he is impressed by the workmanship done by Auto Teknika. In fact, he has called them to ask for advice on certain problems on other customers cars when he is stumped. All of the mechanics at Auto Teknika are knowledgeable and trustworthy. They do excellent work for fair prices.Wish they had a branch in my area!

Very sloppy. Not at all happy with the quality of work i received after paying more than 800 for electrical work. When i took my car in the radio was working but afterwards it is not, they blamed it on faulty wiring.....Hmmmm i thought i paid you guys to fix that? Now my License plate lights are controlled with my dash light dimmer..... Pretty sure that is not right... Panels were not re installed correctly. Several fuses had blown before i had dropped the car off i would have automatically assumed they would have replaced them.... but i guess that is not included.Very dissatisfied. Would not recommend.

Great customer service and timely repairs!

Ive gone here off and on for years with multiple German cars. I would have gone all the time but their location is a bit far from me. They installed new vanos seals on a BMW for me when others would not other shops just wanted to replace the whole vanos unit, this saved me a lot of money. As a DIYer they will work with me and give me extra information if I ask for it.

I recently took my BMW there recently for a VA State Inspection. They were very friendly and when I asked about the time it would take - they had the car ready early for me!I have heard many good things about them in the past and this is my second time there for an State inspection. I will use them in the future for my BMW service needs.
