I looooooove this shop! The only braid shop I will go to in Charlotte. They remember me everytime, my hair is always done perfect and last. They don’t pull my hair or braid tight. Today I got large extra long knotless braids and I love them. Thank you Alexis.

Ive been to about 5 African braiding shops, and I finally found one that Im satisfied with braiding my hair and treating it like they really care about my hair with love! My very First visit here was so excellent in good quality, and I even called the owner early this morning waking her up and she didnt even respond with madness, she gave me an appointment and soon as I got there I went into the chair! Im so grateful for the services, and I hope that a increase in customer will overflow this shop like never before!

I went into the store ask for an appointment at 11. The lady said we could come in now to do the pop smoke braids. We expressed we were coming to see their work and to make a later appointment. We set the appointment time for 3hrs later at 2pm. When we arrived at 2pm sharp, they said it would be 2 more hrs before we would be serviced. She explained she thought she would be done by then, but she had a whole new customer that she had already started. Today is my birthday and I had plans so I couldn’t come back. I asked why she started a new head when we had an appointment at 2pm. After a few questions, I asked to speak to the manager or owner. I was informed she was not in the salon at the moment. I asked who I should speak to when I call. The lady gave me a dirty look. Laughed and said Bridgette. I will not be spending my hard earned money in a place where the treat customers like this. It was unprofessional!

Service was professional and executed my request perfectly! I LOVE my braids. I got a half cornrows/half box braids look and it came out exactly like I wanted it. ☺️

This place is extremely unprofessional. The job one of their staff did on my nephewsdreads was horrible. When ask if they could complete the task prior to him sitting down they assured that they could retwist his dreads. My nephews dreads are short however he gets them retwisted and styled regularly at a different location with no problem. (His regular stylist was unavailable) once he was finished he came out looking the same way he went in, with slabs of black gel (not beeswax) all in the roots of his hair. The ends werent touched at all. When explain how unhappy my sister and I were with the so called finished outcome, no apologies were giving. We were told his hair was too short to retwist and they expected full payment. No one asked to try to fix it and the stylist argued back and forth like we were wrong. They knew when they seen his hair that they may not have been able to do it and thats what should have been said when he arrived. My sister still gave them $20 of the $40 they asked for despite doing a horrible job, blaming his length of hair for the horrible job and being rude & unprofessional. On top of that as we left out the stylist stated thats what you wanted to do anyway insinuating that she didnt want to pay. No one should ever use them if this is how they treat customers. People want to pay for what they asked for and to be treated with respect. If she wanted a free hair style she would have did the horrible job herself. She was being respectful and nice when she paid half for a horrible job and the unprofessionalism of this stylist. Please keep in mind that your stylist are a representation of your business and one bad apple can spoil the bunch. This owner/shop just lost another customer and after this post hopefully more until they fix it.

My 5 year received the greatest braiding experience that we have ever had. Her braids looked neatly done and the staff were incredibly kind. Unlike any braiding shop I have ever been to from Raleigh, NC to them. We have lived in Charlotte a year now so I was nervous finding someone new to work on my daughters hair. But they made her feel comfortable so I was relieved knowing that not only did they do a wonderful job but they cared about their customer service. I highly recommend Alexis Braiding. We will be returning!

I absolutely love this braiding shop! Alexis is very nice fun and patient! Her daughter as well she has a great personality and they all do great braids! I moved here 2 years ago from Philly and was extremely nervous to find a new braiding shop! But I was blessed to find Alexis ! They get you in and out with a smile on your face !

Alexis and Juju are my favorite. Every time I go in there they are usually on my head and I get in and out with fantastic looking box braids that I get complements until it’s time to take them out. Alexis is very professional every time! They’re clean, friendly and always welcoming. Prices are good. I don’t have a complaint!!

I normally go to LULA but she was not working today (Mother’s Day weekend). I called this place and asked them can they retwist my son hair they said yes long story short he came out looking the same way he went in...... THIS place CAN NOT and I mean CAN NOT do dreads

Never get your hair braided at Alexis African Hair Braiding!!!!! I’ve had my braids for ONE WEEK and they look like I’ve have them for a month. I tie my hair and put a bonnet on every night. IT SHOULDNT LOOK LIKE THIS!! 🤬😡

Im new to Charlotte and I’m extremely picky about who I allow to touch my locs. But, due to COVID19 I hadn’t been able to find a loc stylist and was in a drastic need of a retwist and style. I just so happened to come across this place. They were professional, clean, quick and really well priced! Tatiana was my stylist and she did amazing work! I’ve finally found my stylist!!!!

So I have dreads right and the length of my hair comes down to the cheeks of my face, I asked to get my hair braided back or just double twist so In theory, hair like Polo G the rapper or Lil Baby when he braids up and they said they couldn’t do the first option cuz they tried with a few dreads so I said ok how about option two? They do it and it’s all loose, uneven and messed up so I tried to be generous and say can you fix it and try again they try again and mess up more so I asked to take it out and try to work with them and just simply ask for a re twist and she says no and now I have to deal with one of my dreads not even being dreads anymore and a messed up head.

Horrible place to go my braids looked like 1 month year old braids after 2 weeks !

I got my hair in box braids here for the first time (09/21) I love the work. I just found it quite annoying that it took over 7 hours to do my hair. I wish it was less talking and stopping and MORE braiding. Overall, nice environment. Great work! I’ll return soon.UPDATE: It’s been over a month and my braids are falling out AND my hair is coming out with the braids and it’s the braid on my edges at that. I NEVERRRRRR had this issue. I had to fix my rate from 4 stars to a 1.I absolutely will NOT be back.

Ive had my box braids in for a month now and they are still holding up nicely. I liked Alexiss braiding technique because they are tight but didnt take my edges out. She is a very skilled braider. However, the other lady that was working on my hair at the same time was nice as gentle (almost cried a couple of times). I will be going back in the future.

Got my hair done yesterday with the Marley twist and I Love it. Didnt take too long, they were all nice and the place was extremely clean unlike other places Ive been too. Definitely going back when its time to redo them. Ive gotten so many compliments from my hair. It was alittle pricey but because they were well done I dont mind 😊😊

I can say its very hard to find a good consistent hairbraider here in NC, I am very pleased with Alexis and her work. I have been with her for a few years now and she has been a blessing. I was the first person here this morning at 7:30. The lady literally took 40 minutes just parting my hair and asked 2 other girls for help with parting. I asked the first lady that helped her does she have parting issues, if so, I dont want her to do my hair. The lady responded oh no, shes good. Ok whatever, well see... 30 minutes later after she finished 1 braid and it looked a hot mess! The part was wide and the braid was skinny up top and big towards the end. Using a perm brush to lay gel on my hair that I dont use. All I wanted was 10 cornrows and left with 0. After I told her I was leaving they offered somebody else to do my hair, at this point Ive been there for 1hr30. KEEP YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!

Im beyond pleased with the work that was done on my daughters hair💜💙❤ Little do you notice , my daughter sides and back of hair were really short compared to her hair in the middle . Alexis and her staff were able to grip& braid the sides and back while making all braids one size. Honestly, with my daughters past hair breakage i didnt know what to expect at the end but man o man...they slayed my daughters hair. THEY EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!!Staff very nice and they communicated well with me 😊😊😊😊Thank you! We will be back!

Alexis Husband referred me to the salon. My first style (crotchet braids), I was unsure of because I was not used to a lot of hair. But the compliments I received was overwhelming and I have to admit, I loved the style so much I went back and got the large cornrows. I am not used to this style either, but I love it and I get so many compliments. I am truly enjoying the service I received from Alexis African Hair Braiding Salon. Horrible. I will never go back here. At first glance the shop seems Heaven sent. However, the employees are very rude and unprofessional. I was told one price on Friday. I walked in and asked the owner Alexis the price of micro braids. She told 100. So I made the appointment. On Monday when I arrived, she had two women start on my hair and about a quarter of the way in Alexis walked up to me and asked me for payment. I told her my husband would bring it. She then left shortly after and the ladies doing my hair insisted on payment. Once paid they started to make phone calls, text and watch television. Then they so carelessly started to eat while doing my hair and smack in my hear. To add icing on the cake the younger one doing my hair continously rested her dirty hands on my face even after I tried moving it and showed signs of being upset. I felt so uncomfortable as they talked about the other lady getting micros because she asked for a darker brown. Long story short my hair is shedding extremely bad and has a horrendous smell to it. I will NEVER return not even if every salon in Charlotte went out of business. Terrible way to prep for a delivery, I just wanted micros for the convenience. I feel robbed. Please be careful where you go for service if your pregnant. This is not the place, pregnant or not.

I chose this salon because of the positive reviews. My first phone interaction with the owner was good however everything went downhill when I showed up with my daughter for the appointment. I advised Alexis on the phone that I wanted box braids that were the size of a pencil and she quoted me a price. When we arrived for the appointment Alexis was not there. We were dealing with her employees who did not want to braid my daughters hair for the quoted price and because her hair was long. They instead wanted to put in larger braids, thumb size. We negotiated to a size that we both agreed would work. While my daughter, who is only 9 years old, was getting her hair braided the employees watch very inappropriate shows on TV. When asked to turn they complied but switched to a show even worse than the first. Women being degraded, making sexual advances, and using profanity. I guess the language barrier prevented them from understanding what was appropriate for a 9 year old to view. We made it through the appointment, paid and left. Exactly 5 days later braids started to fall out around the perimeter of her head. The braids were far too large for the section of hair used. They used very small sections of hair which would not hold such a heavy braid. We were only able to keep the braids in for about 4 weeks with me having to gel down the perimeter. My daughter was in pain the entire time (and days after) because they had two people braiding at the same time. (this was not her first time getting braids) They didnt want to allow her to take a break, but the shop was empty so it was not like they were backed up. I would not recommend this shop to anyone because they are very unprofessional, their braid techs are horrible, and their braids dont last.

I Usually get my hair done at Daba African hair braiding and I always love it well today I decided to give Alexis hair braiding a try. NEVER WILL I EVER come to this shop again. I can get the same hairstyle for better quality and price at Dabas I should’ve left when I was told the price. The twists in my head are three different sizes and all the two ladies in the shop did was talk the whole time. NEVER AGAIN. I will take my money right back to daba in salon central on freedom Drive!

I am very upset i went and got box briads and they were coming out the next day the whole back of my head was loose after just one day of having them in they had 2 people working on my head at the same time its only been to 2weeks since i got them done and it look like i done had them in for 2 months or more and all i do is keep it wrapped up now they are loose and all over my head and still continuing to come out at the back they made me pay a extra 5 dollars for the color i wanted in the front and it wasnt even alot it was onky like 6 braids that were colored now im going to have to take them out early because they can not braid and they messed up my hair after i payed them all that money this style is suppose to last 2-3 months and it only been 2weeks and ima have to take them out soon because they already starting to look bad NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I GO HERE OR LET THEM BRAID MY HAIR OR NOBODY ESLE HAIR THAT I KNOW I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE THEY ARE VERY HIGH PRICED AND CANT EVEN BRAID the place is clean and and neat but they cant braid and thats all that matters and they to expensive for no reason because they cant even braid

I just want to say, that all may not be happy. But me and my friends and family are very happy and pleased with the services. My hair grew so fast. I got Micro braids and every where I go Im asked who does my hair.The owner was very nice and explained prices and sizes. I have been back 4 times in a row already. My hair was cut short , so that was one reason I got micros. Now my hair is down to my shoulders. I want to wear my hair now but I love the micros so much I just cant give it up...I GOT ME A PERSONAL BRAIDER AND I AM PLEASE.. I AM NOW A REGULAR. MY GRANDS, FRIENDS. DAUGHTER AND MYSELF ARE HOOKED..LOL #LOVEIT

I had hair done Thursday morning and its Friday evening and my hair looks as if its been up two weeks or more. I was grossly over charged for this hair style and very unhappy. If I could give a lower star i would, but instead you will given a one for a falling star.
