Compton’s is one of those rare gems.. Thorough & trustworthy, at fair prices. I’ve taken vehicles in for service here for several years. My girlfriend started having maintenance done here after Ford quoted her $2k for a fan fix. Compton’s diagnosed the real root cause. They replaced the failed part and the out the door cost was under $200. The service manager, Johnny, is a great guy. He’s patient and takes time to explain everything and answer questions. I never feel rushed with anything and pickup times are flexible.

Comptons has a great team from the front desk to the mechanics. They offer rides to work after dropping off your car. Provide updated text while repairs are in progress and confirm any recommended additional repairs are approved beforehand. Invoice was to the penny of all estimates (provided detailed in writing), pleasantly no surprises. Transparency and professionalism with an upbeat friendly attitude -- not to mention an inviting waiting area with complimentary snacks and coffee. Highly recommend.

I went for an oil change and was rather disappointed in the experience. First, I asked before it started how long it would take and was told maybe 30 minutes but definitely not longer than an hour. 65 minutes later someone starts telling me that they thoroughly inspected my car and this is why its taking longer. I wish they wouldve asked first because my car had just been inspected and Id have preferred to save the time. Overall, I was there for about 80 minutes.Second, the price they gave me was much higher than expected and AFTER I asked what oil they used, I was told well, we used full synthetic but I see your car recommends synthetic blend so well only change you for that and that immediately reduced the price (though still higher than the dealership charges). What wouldve happened if I didnt ask? Finally, getting back to my car they recommend I get the oil changed in 3 months or 3k miles. Really??? They tried to upcharge me for fully synthetic and then tell I need to replace it sooner than the manual recommends for synthetic blend. The oil change itself seemed fine but Im not left feeling I can trust them with my time or car.

Ive been through a lot of garages and Compton is a rare find. Their shop is clean, the staff is incredibly nice, and theyre always very professional in front of the customer. One of the mechanics even dug out my old wheel bearings out of the bin so i could properly file a warranty claim with Subaru. 10/10 if we didnt move out of the area wed continue doing business with them.

I was traveling through Charlotte and was in desperate need of AC repair, and my braking was starting to feel soft. Comptons performed all the repairs within a day, at a great price. The shop is clean and they have some of the kindest, most honest, and friendly staff (I worked with Johnny) I have ever encountered. The owners mom even gave me a ride to the light rail station. The owner personally reached out to me afterward to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend Comptons to anyone in need of repairs. Excellent experience!

The team at Compton Auto have been courtesy and professional every time Ive brought a vehicle to them for maintenance or repairs.Ive been using them for at least two years now, and for me, their location is a bit out of the way, its worth the time and effort to put my vehicle (s) in knowledgeable, capable, and trustworthy hands.

My ABS, traction, and TPMS lights have been on for the past two weeks. I first took my car to Kia Courage and after waiting 2 hours, I was told the wheel bearings needed to be replaced and was quoted for $1400. I had to tell the associate there more than a handful of times that I would need to wait and I wouldnt be able to get the work done that day. I felt extremely pressured. I decided against their service shop. So I used Google to research auto mechanics in the area. I came upon Comptons Automotive. They are working on my car today and have quoted me the price of $607! Not only is it about $800 cheaper, but also everyone Ive come into contact with has been extremely professional and kind! The associate who called to update me on things was going to add on some more services (brake lights), and when I asked him to leave it off he was extremely kind and professional and told me that would be just fine that he would have a list of recommended services as well as prices so that I could schedule things in the future. I didnt feel the least bit pressured! Also, the very nice lady who makes the delicious cookies gave me a ride so that I could go to work while they have my car in the shop. I am very thankful for the way Ive been treated thus far by Comptons Automotive!

I originally got my oil changed at the dealer. They highly recommended up to $2,700 worth of work. I took the car to Comptons for a second opinion. They explained what really needed to be done and also explained why the dealer said what they said. Taking it to Comptons saved me almost $2k. The car is working great and I have no concerns.

Worked with the Compton’s team and Todd to prep our company car for a trip to ChicagoThe car had been sitting for 6 months due to Covid.Compton’s came over jump started the car and executed several repairs in one day. The work was above dealer quality and the pricing was very fair. I made the drive from Charlotte to Chicago and the car a 2011 Lexus drove like it was brand new.The work is as quoted fairly. ( I checked against repair pal). The customer service is what impressed me. Great service from Comptons Automotive. I came by to drop off my truck before they were closing and two men came out to look at my truck and try and diagnose the issue without me even having to ask. They were very knowledgeable. They are nice on the phone and in person. Patient. When I got a different diagnosis I told them Id do the work myself and they were very accepting. Ken the service manager was very personable along with the tech that worked on my truck. Charlie knows older trucks and that’s hard to find these days. Well in this day and age of trust and mistrust, finding someone you can count on is crucial. Comptons stands behind its work 100%. When I brought in my van for an issue, it was diagnosed immediately. ((I must say Mike has a keen sense of smell and immense talent)). I was given a rough estimate of the cost of repairs and expected wholeheartedly for that repair to the amount we agreed upon. Lo and behold, when I picked up my vehicle, there was no charge at all. As it turned out, this was a previously repaired on the same side, though we thought otherwise.The part itself failed and is being sent back to the supplier.I would have not know this and they did not need to tell me that and could have charged me without any balking on my part. The fact that they realized it was the same part on the same side and did the right thing is not commonplace anymore.They are 100% my go to place and I would recommend them to any and everyone. A great overall experience. I came in and got a brake overall and got out. I had an opportunity to meet Todds mother and she spoke with me about the history of the company and how the crew and her son operated. I had a high expectation form her and they delivered.It has been approximately 2 weeks since the work has been done and there are no problems at all. The bill wasnt steep and the recommendations that were rendered were sound and valid. Highly recommended. My 2 closest friends already know about their work.

BUYER BEWARE!! This repair shop is out to steal your $$$. They are not happy with just making a few hundred dollars to do a small repair. You request one service and when they provide the price quote its for 4 extra services that you didnt ask for 😳. Its real simple. If a customer requests new brakes that means that all they want you to do is replace the brakes. Stop quoting prices for things that the customer didnt ask for so that you can make $2,000.After being quoted a price for extra services that I didnt ask for I decided not to do business with Comptons and took my business elsewhere. There are plenty of repair places and I recommend avoiding this one!!!

Comptons is THE BEST. Everyone is friendly, easy to work with and make you feel like one of the family. Their prices are very reasonable. The shop and waiting area are A1. You couldnt take your vehicle to a better place for maintenance or repairs.

This place is a hidden gem. If you live or work anywhere near the airport or off of Billy Graham, you should be bringing your car here for service. They have always dealt with me honestly and at a reasonable price. The work is done quickly. I really appreciate that they are explicit about the work that they are doing to your car and they dont proceed without your permission. Plus, they give you a ride to work which has saved me a few times.

This auto shop is one of the best places I have ever taken my car. They are very friendly and will tell you exactly what is wrong when you bring in your car and show you the piece if it’s available. They do great work on my Chevy and I will continue to bring it here for maintenance and check ups. I would highly recommend this place to everybody. Every once in a while they will also do charity work with an animal shelter so that’s a major plus.

Ive been going to Comptons Automotive since I moved here and it was recommended by a coworker, for about 5 years. They are always helpful, honest, and priced fairly. They have even suggested bringing my car to Ford for certain repairs as they felt it may be covered under warranty when they easily could have just made the repairs themselves and profited. This is the only mechanic use and I recommend them to anyone.

Great group of folks. I just bought my son a 15 year old truck and they told me everything that was wrong with it with suggestions on what was not economical, and what was worth the money. In going through the list I told them that my son wanted to try and fix some stuff himself, and they told me what he could do on his own, and what they would recommend that they do. They even offered to answer questions. I use Comptons for all of my cars now. They are great, and the cookies are almost as good.

My first experience wasnt the greatest and I originally left a 1-star review. Shortly after posting, the owner tracked me down to find out exactly what happened. He was genuinely concerned and went out of his way to address the shortfalls. The owner sets the tone for any business and I was extremely impressed with how this owner handled the situation. I really love Comptons Auto because every visit is a wonderful one. Even on a more of a personal level they make me feel like family. My vehicle is in excellent condition because of Comptons. I have a 2003 Expedition that Ive had for 16 years. It needed some serious work and Todd and his crew were fast, super courteous, and reasonable. They treated my 16 year old like it was new and thanks to them it drives and sounds that way!! I would use them again in an instant!

I came to Compton Automotive because of the google ratings and I see why they have 5 stars! Everything about them is A #1. They are knowledgeable, friendly, extremely reasonable with their prices, trustworthy... I could literally go on. They don’t just take your money like most mechanics they take the time to explain everything before they do the work and after not only that but they follow up days after to make sure that everything is OK. I will def be recommending them to anybody that asks me about car service here locally!

The staff is amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I learned of them from About Your House Radio with Ray Terry and I won’t take my vehicles anywhere else in Charlotte now.

Lexus IS 350 oil change & check for 60K service needsTodd and everyone at Comptons were great as always. Been taking my cars there for years and they have always treated me well. This last visit was for a regular oil change and to see what was needed in the way of a 60K Lexus recommended service. They went over my vehicle and reassured me that none of the stuff the dealerships try to pressure you into doing, needed doing. I can appreciate that.

Every time I drop my truck at Comptons to have work done, Im always confident that they will perform an excellent job at a fair (sometimes more than fair) cost. They work on my 84 Chevy Silverado 4WD that often has problems that require Todd, Ken and Mike all putting heads together to figure out the fix. More than once the fix required way more time than a newer and more easily accessible model would take, yet they have eaten hours so as to be fair to me. I trust the guys at Comptons and plan to give them my business until they run me off.Jay

Staff was curtious and polite. They also offer to drop you back off where you want to go while they work on your car. Love the follow up phone call to see how your car is running.

I have never before worked with an auto mechanic that I would trust like I trust Comptons. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and truly act in my best interests. Weve been taking our vehicles to them for several years, and I always know when I go in that I will get:* A friendly greeting in a clean and inviting lobby PLUS home-baked cookies & coffee!* Knowledgeable and helpful information and quotes for my specific problem* Expert repairs* Advice that is in MY best interest* A ride to work!A couple of examples:1. Last September, I brought in my van for repair. The estimate was $2500 for two catalytic converters and a couple other things. Todd (I think it was) was very frank with me. He told me that with the miles on my vehicle and its history, I was due for transmission repair in the next six months, roughly equivalent to another $2500. His advice: Take the care to Autobell and trade it in for a newer model. This advice meant less immediate cash for them--instead of spending $5,000 with them over the next six months, I have spent less than $500 (newer car, fewer repairs). Long-term, however, it won a lifetime fan & consistent return to their business.2. Today, I walked in to schedule an oil change and have them look at the air pressure in my tires. They were booked till Thursday unless I could leave it with them (I couldnt), but Todd asked, Did your tire pressure light come on? Yes, I said. Hand me your keys, he said. He had the car taken around immediately, checked tires, refilled them with air. He didnt want me driving even two days on dangerously low air pressure, or damaging my tires. He wanted it right for me. They did it for free. Of course, Ill be back on Thursday for that oil change. :)I recommend Comptons strongly to all my best friends, and Im recommending them to anyone. Truly a company you can trust.

I drive from the other side of Charlotte to take my cars to Comptons. You get fantastic, honest, service from a great group of people. Also, cookies.In my latest (of many) transactions, they squeezed me in on a Friday to check my brakes. They had trouble finding the shoes, and when the shoes finally arrived a half hour before closing, they stayed late to complete the job. This was truly appreciated because I needed the car for a trip the next day. They really saved my bacon. Mmmmm....bacon.This is just one example of many of the type of service I have come to expect. Bring your cars here. You wont be disappointed.

I wouldnt trust my car to anyone else! This place great! They are honest and will never try to up-sell services. The cookies sure dont hurt either!
