Grossly overpriced apartments for the interior quality. When my roommate and I moved in, the A/C was broken, the sink and toilet had drainage issues (sink still does), and the management is a chore to deal. They constantly close down the pool for “cleaning”, which only happens once a week anyways, and they close the pool sporadically if they don’t want to deal with messes that people inevitably leave. They also don’t know how to balance their books, which routinely leads to letters on many residents’ doors asking for more money, even when the entirety has been paid. The resident maintenance man has got to be the worst part of it, though. He parks his golf carts and motorcycles in front of the building, one of these per space, forcing his fellow residents to find parking on the opposite side of the complex. I suspect he’s the reason so many amenities are closed on the weekends, since he tends to lock these things up once office staff has left for the weekend. As a current resident, I can confirm this apartment complex is not worst the egregious rent. Go find one of the other dozen apartment complexes within three miles of this place and find something better. Will not be renewing my lease here.

I absolutely love this place! Moved here from Florida and James Towne Village is the perfect place for me to be. Super close the the beach and the salt water pool had to be the best over the summer. Love the staff! Just amazing!

My roommate and I have lived here for 2 years and we love it. The location is great, very quiet and friendly community, and the office staff is great. Never had an issue with anyone, staff or neighbors. The pool is awesome. 9ft deep. Maintenance is also extremely speedy. Any issues we have are normally solved and fixed either the same day or 1-2 days after putting in a service request. If you go in, just ask for Lisa or Shannon, they’ll take care if you.

This is my second time touring the property the first time Nice enough to live there. My second time touring the property is a different story. I did not find the lady helpful and when we went on the tour she did not take her headphones out of her ears. I found that very rude and unprofessional. The final straw was when we were walking back to the office there was a used condom sitting right by the fire pit. She screamed very loudly and said”oh my god” and then asked me “did you see that” I said YES. That condom was very gross and made me realize this place may not be the safest place to live.

Lived at this property from July 2003 to January 2012 and loved it. Well kept grounds and interiors and Maintenance was really on top of all and any repairs I ever needed. The office staff was always helpful and understanding with any issue I ever had. If I ever sell my house and need an apartmen I will go back to James Towne Village Apartments.

Worst staff ever. Management has been struggling for years. I still resign lease every year hoping that things will change but I have had enough. After 4 years at James Town Village apartments Charleston, I am checking out. Their ammentities are garbage. Their fitness center is a joke and an eye sore on the community. My main gripe though, which is the only reason I stick around this trash zone is their POOL. Some of us have jobs and can not spend our days at the pool, but the past few times I have had a chance to spend by the pool it’s been closed for bs reasons. “It rained on Friday, so the pool is closed for the whole entire weekend.” Staff is so lazy, it’s easier for them to lock up the pool for trumped up reasons, than actually do their job and manage the one thing they actually have to take care of. It’s the WEEKEND for the love of god! Do your job! Don’t even get me going on just general apartment maintenance. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $100 and rent somewhere else. This place is a joke.Direct message to staff. For how much I spend a month to live here, do better, or I swear I will complain on every platform imaginable.

If there was an option for no stars that is exactly what I would give. Beside the cheaply renovated, very noisy apartment, the management here is terrible. Any complaints are taken and forgotten. We moved in with the promise that anything broken would be fixed yet 6 months later still not fixed. After my car was vandalized and the manger said I should just laugh it off I was left with no option but to buy out my lease and move. After asking for the corporate number the manager proceeded to give me a number that was no longer in service. Rent went up $200 with no notice written. The maintenance guy can have trash everywhere and his golf cart with junk everywhere on the lawn but I left one bag of closed trash out side my door to take off after my 4 month old son woke from his nap and was sent a text to move it or be fined $25. If you are thinking about this place I would skip over and spend an extra $100-$300 just to have a nice place and great management.

James Towne Village, possibly the worst managed apartment complex i have ever lived in. I have been renting apartments for 18 years and this defunct group of academic rejects has the audacity to claim themselves to be property mangers. These people think that they are beyond reproach, they have referred to residents in derogatory terms, they are lazy and keep the property unkept as there is trash that actively sits there for months behind their storage garage, they openly tried to cover up black mold in an apartment that was rented for 30 years and failed to do any remodeling that would cost them money to keep the property up to date. These people make everything so inconvenient, want to get your faucet fixed, work order takes 3 weeks, not sure if the maintenance man does anything or just rides around on a golf cart all day, trying to find the manager, nah she is out smoking cigarettes trying to avoid doing her real job which is managing a property, have a question or concern and need to go to the office on saturday, no one is around or available like at any other apartment complex, want to try and call the office while you are at work, nah no one is in the office because they cant keep staff, wonder why, most definitely the property manager, do yourself a favor and do not move here, do not live anywhere that AMCS properties owns. You can thank me later, the only part of this property worth anything is the location, the building is out of date and over 30 years old, they try to justify the actual value of the property as it relates to other apartment complexes in the area, which are much nicer, shocker, this one is old and not anywhere near worth the value claimed.

James Towne Village has a very unprofessional management staff. They provide unrealistic information to people. They just want to full apartment, and will do what it take. Just not willing to let my money go down the drain.

Update: Years later and I still love JTV. The community is very safe and very quite. The staff is amazing and you can’t beat the location. I’ve recently moved away but only because I purchased a home or I would still be there.I moved in almost three months ago and absolutely love it. Very well maintained grounds/ helpful and speedy repair men. Super quick commute to downtown and close to everything in James Island! Of the three places Ive rented either downtown charleston or in JI this is my absolute favorite.
