Our experience as new tenets with Oasis at West Ashley has been frustrating and disappointing. A new company took over the complex over a month ago and never reached out to new clients about that change. We almost sent close to $2,000 to an account no longer associated with the property, thankfully I called to double check about payment before processing it. Our apartment was not move in ready when the keys were handed over to us. The first red flag was the abysmal shape that the front door/ entry way were in. Once inside the apartment we realized how hot it was. The A/C unit was not working and temperatures in the apartment were >90 degrees. How a management company can hand over keys without checking that something this important is functioning, is beyond me. As we continued checking everything out it also became apparent that the apartment had not been thoroughly cleaned. We knew that was the case because we found kids toys, hair ties, and decorations scattered around the apartment. In addition to this all the walls looked stained. We luckily had some overlap between apartments and were able to put off moving by a week, which in my mind we should be reimbursed as the apartment wasn’t ready by the date on the lease. To their credit they did get the A/C unit fixed, but sporadically touched up the paint picking and choosing spots they wanted to paint. Most of our walls still have stains. Overall, it seems like they did a rush job in “renovating” these apartments with the cheapest materials possible. We have carpet sticking up in random corners, the stove and fridge look like somebody scrubbed them with a brillo pad leaving scuff marks all over, and the flooring in the kitchen is full of defects and holes. Moreover, the pool is closed. When bringing concerns up to the leasing office we’re met with a lot of excuses about not having staff or the other company they bought out not leaving them supplies, but it just seems like deflections to not get a bad rep. We have some friends who are looking to move into the West Ashley area and we have warned them all to stay clear of Oasis at West Ashley.Update:I have tried to reach out to the office repeatedly, but it is currently closed and no one is answering the phone or returning our voicemails. I find it incredibly hard to believe that you were unaware of these problems. When we first moved in, your website wasnt functional so there was no way to submit service requests. To make up for this we submitted an email with all these issues and the exact same pictures in this review to your staff. Additionally, it was all on the move-in checklist we turned into the office after getting the keys. So how you can say these issues were never addressed when in fact they were in multiple ways, is beyond me. As far as the pool goes, I used to work in that industry. For a pool this size it shouldnt take more than a day to balance chemicals.

This is the second time we have lived here due to my husband’s work. We loved living here a few years ago so choosing to come back was an easy decision. I really love being on the marsh. It is beautiful. The maintenance and office personnel are kind and helpful. The apartments are nice sized and clean. We’ve never had any issues or problems with anything or anyone.

Love this place! been here for about a year now. Office staff and maintenance team are awesome! easy to work with and very understanding. They do their best to keep the place clean and keeping it from getting out of hand (i.e broke down vehicles taking up parking spaces, unregistered tenants, etc.) They do hold everyone accountable.Again nice place and nice staff. I really appreciate them very much!

I lived at oasis at west ashley for about 3 years (2017-2020). During that time I saw property management for the facility change and I saw positive changes through that transition. Although prices seem to be increasing, they are attempting to upgrade apartments from what I see. If youre a good tenant who pays on time and communicates issues and stays on top of things, youll likely enjoy your time there! If it werent for the increase in price (pretty minimal from the start of my contract but enough to matter), or the fact that I moved out of state, I would choose to still live there. Great location that is close to downtown, the beach, and pretty much everything else. Morgan, from the front office, is AWESOME to work with and I hope the OAW crew knows how essential she is to their company. Morgan is very fair, professional, responsive and accommodating! I had a great experience living there and was sad to leave! Its also good to note that I got my deposit back quickly after moving out and they were fair in what they deducted for general repairs (I got all but $50 of my deposit back). Overall good experience!

If I could give this place zero stars I would! I do not recommend this place to anyone as it is not a suitable environment to live in. The staff reels you in by being so nice and helpful... until you move in. It was not good from the start. We walk in to the empty apartment and the odor is terrible. It smelled like a mixture of weed and cats. We spend countless dollars on scented sprays and it still smells. We got used to the smell and then the hurricane hits. When we arrived back to the apartments it smelled like rotten ammonia. We couldn’t even breathe! The whole apartment was flooded... (the foundation to the apartments are horrible here.) They called the carpet cleaners and the stench still isn’t resolved. For months the carpet cleaners come back again and again and the problem is still not taken care of. We even spent our own money on renting a rug doctor. Then a leak from the apartments above us happens and I find out BY BROWN STUFF leaking on my head in the shower. My mud room was filled with water, the dry wall was soaked and the hallway then became flooded. We called maintenance and the carpets were still wet for 3 days! And not to mention we went without air conditioning for 3 days in 90 degree weather! They claimed to fix our air conditioning time and time again.. it would work for 20 minutes then bam it goes out again. Back to the leak from upstairs all the maintenance did was cut a hole in the ceiling and spray foam and Painted it back white. We will not be renewing our lease and I personally don’t think anyone should move here or renew your lease. They don’t like to help with any problems and are consistently rude. Don’t waste your time, unfortunately I did.

I lived here for about 7 months. While its not a terrible place to live I cannot recommend it. The staff are friendly in person but I was given wrong information about my lease when I asked questions, and never received responses to repeated emails. They recently did remodels to most units which look nice at first glance. But looking further its obvious that it was a rush job and they cut a lot of corners in the process. Cheap materials were used with a sloppy paint job and messy caulking. They recently added an outdoor grilling/dining area which was nice at first but very quickly fell into a state of disrepair. I had an issue with a leaky foundation that I reported to management that was never addressed (I reported it about 2 months before I moved out). Not the nicest area, but generally quiet and safe. The grounds could definitely use more upkeep particularly in the area around the dumpsters. If youre stuck living here it wont be the end of the world, but Id look elsewhere first.

One of the only places in West Ashley that you can find the most friendly staff and fully upgraded apartments at such an afforadable price. Cant believe how lucky I was to find this community. Not only do you have full upgrades but you have a sense of community with the events the office holds for the people. Love living here and love the gorgeous views of the Ashley River. Quiet and peaceful a great place for anyone to settle down at.

Below you will find a letter that was sent to theManagement. We have filed complaint after complaint. This place is horrible. Police, fighting and suspected drug deals. We the tenants of apartment ******* of The Oasis at West Ashley are submitting this letter to express our grave concerns regarding our health and safety as it pertains to our living conditions since moving into your building. As you know, we have submitted both verbal and electronic complaints to your office to no avail. Conditions have not improved on any front.Per our conversation upon the move-in date, we were told that the grounds and neighboring apartments were being cleaned and would be monitored on a consistent basis. This was after *********** pointed out the trash in the common hallways, surgical gloves lying in the grass and the 2-liter Coke bottle filled with used cigarette butts and what appeared to be tobacco spit. This clean up has not taken place. Since our first day, we have continued to be plagued with roaches, spiders and now maggots. One of the residents has been bitten four times in the abdomen by a spider in the bedroom. We have roaches crawling at all times in large numbers. The latest problem noted is the maggots in the apartment that are also located in the common hallway of the building. We have pictures that will be submitted of all the listed pest problems. As you are aware, maggots and roaches carry disease. It is unconscionable that our children have to endure such hazardous living conditions. The apartment also has been leaking from the floor when it rains. The kitchen floor gets soaking wet and the wall along the bedroom floors gets wet as well. It soaked the bottom of the dresser drawers and put us at risk due to the electrical that is in the immediate area. Our sons are both students and football team members at a local college. They have both expressed concerns about the smell of marijuana that permeates their apartment on a daily basis from neighboring apartments. They have to pass random drug screenings throughout the year. The smell is so heavy that they are concerned this may put their scholarships at risk. This is very concerning to ALL of us.You have been contacted by both the residents and the other leaseholders of our dissatisfaction and concerns for the health and safety of our children. We are very worried about the unsanitary conditions. Please contact me regarding these issues of disrepair within the next two days from todays date.Sent from my iPhone

This place is complete trash. They advertise the fixtures as updated and affordable luxury but you can tell everything was cheaply made and the paint job is horrible. Had regular maintenance issues which took weeks and multiple calls before someone would actually come out to fix.Management is horrible. I was here for 2 years in which management changed 3-4 times and would never be available in the office during office hours. The best thing about this property is the marsh view. But be careful during super heavy rain or hurricane season because the parking lot becomes a lake and many lower units are known to have heavy mold issues that have yet to be fixed. If I could’ve, I would’ve given this place a 0 star

We put in 3-4 formal maintenance requests to have our screens fixed in November, December and January because we dont like to run A/C that often. They said they would be fixed before we moved in. We contacted the actual company headquarters to let them know and they told us to give it a week. Still our screens have not been fixed or are hanging off the window. So we just gave up. I figured if I post a review maybe then something could be done... Aside from that it has been a great place to live and the pool and grounds near the marsh are very nice.

This is not a place i would recommend. The apartments are really not up to par. To say that you will be spending 1000.00 + the so called cosmetic issues of the place should be addressed... all management does is talk about the budget and how this isn’t in the budgetbor this is too much... ok then why rent an apartment that you are incapable of making presentable to the new tenant. I’m leaving after a year. I have rented apartments for 1000.00+ and they have been well worth it. This is trash... the apartment doors are dirty and digesting. Obviously this property has financial issues. What bothers me the most is that i got the keys and immediately expressed my dissatisfaction. I should have been able to change apartments... they keep telling me to wait 6 months. I haven’t even moved anything in the place yet. Smh after a year I’m leaving and spending my money with a complex that’s capable of providing what they promised... cosmetic issues are a problem especially if they are noticeable... they don’t take care of thier apartments and find every excuse for you to be grateful as if they are doing you a favor. Smh... not worth the money at all... on no level would i recommend this place. It’s a joke. There are so many beautiful apartments in the Charleston area this one is definitely in my opinion a rip off

I lived in Oasis at west Ashley from feb 2017-feb 2018. If I could give negative stars I would. Upon moving in there were dead bugs all over the apartment, no screens in the windows, no racks in the oven and the dishwasher was broken. We made it work and cleaned the bugs, and put in work orders for everything else. After a month we finally got racks in the oven. The dish washer worked a total of 6 days the whole year we lived there. As soon as it was fixed it broke after one wash, so we finally gave up. We never got screens. Bugs littered the apartment even while being sprayed by the apartment and us. While this was inconvenient, it was not a deal breaker since the rent was so cheap. Then Hurricane Irma hit. The whole area flooded, including our first floor apartment. It took 2 days after the hurricane was over for the complex to get someone to get the water out of our apartment. Afterwards, the place still smelled of mold and mildew so bad it was unlivable. It took a month to get them to get someone else back out to wash the carpets and get rid of the mildew. They refused to discount our rent although we were displaced the whole month. Thank goodness we have family in town or we would have had no where to go. After returning to the apartment our car was broken into, while this is not the apartments fault it is a word of caution as to the area the complex is in. We finally turned in our notice once our lease was up and have moved to a nicer apartment around the same price point. Please stay far from this complex. There were many other problems, the constant smell of weed from other apartments around us, the police bust of over 10,000 of cocaine in the apartment building next to us, and the parking lot when it snowed and that the apartment did nothing about it, making it a very dangerous walk area and driving area for weeks, just for example. There are better apartments in Charleston at a comparable price point.

Horrible business. Tried to get ahold of them for weeks with no response. Called, left voicemails, went to the office, sent emails. Then when we FINALLY reached them and confronted them, they took no responsibility for it. On top of that, we find out that they lied to us when we signed our lease and said that we could do a pro-rated rent since we didnt know when our house would be ready, but instead they charged us for the whole month. Not to mention, the complex was surrounded by cops last week for a drug bust. DO NOT SIGN A LEASE WITH OASIS APARTMENTS.

No one is ever in the office when you need to pay rent or get a package. They never answer the phone. Management has Deen fired and since I have been here this is the 3rd owner of the property and the 6th office manager. The never notify us when someone is doing work on our building or someone needs to come into our apartment. The rent is way too high for the space and tring to keep this place cool in the summer you need to take a loan out to pay the bill! The police are here what seems like every other night because someone is fighting outside or just in Thierry own apartment. This place is like putting lipstick on a pig, its still a pig!

To sum it all up imagine paining a turd. Might look ok on the surface but its still a turd. Ive been living here for the last year waiting on my house to get finished and it has not been the most pleasant experience. The renovation was a fresh coat of paint, new appliances and carpet. Thats it. The grounds are nice but thats about it. I had issues with my AC since I moved in. Im an AC tech and tried to help them get it fixed to no avail. Ive sent well over a dozen emails, called and complained in person. Same as the other, they say all is well is good. Nope, weeks of living in 80+ degrees. They even said I was being unreasonable after waiting 9 months! I told them about issues with the insulation above my roommates ceiling, they said no problems, went into the attic and to no surprise, no insulation over his room! I was told by the last owners that I would be compensated for my discomfort and higher utility bills but that never happened. I had to get a lawyer involved just so they would fix the AC...Now they changed owners AGAIN and the new owners are charging everyone late payments even when we have no outstanding balance!Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

If you are considering renting here, please read this first. It may save you some unnecessary suffering. After many years of renting, this was the most difficult place Ive ever lived. Here is why. There is an endless stream of cockroaches (in a clean home). Building is most likely rotting within as everything is very aged besides the carpet, blinds and appliances. First impression gives illusion of nice apartment, however this is in fact an illusion. If there is enough rain it floods. Cable outlets may be broken from day one, and will cost you $80 out of pocket to fix. Showers randomly turn ice cold for 45 seconds and then go warm/hot again. Some tenants are extremely loud and disrespectful.Management has been canned and rehired multiple times in less than a year or so. Current management is alarmingly dismissive, which is concerning considering the state of affairs.Supposedly Oasis was Section 8 less than a year ago, and I must say - living here is definitely a Section 8 experience.
