I am going into my third of living at Carolina Square, and I have only positive things to say about C-Square. The amenities are top-notch, and I have only had positive experiences with office staff. The only downside is price. This place is expensive, but I truly believe you get what you pay for. The location can’t be beat.

I am going on my second year of living at Carolina square and I love it! The apartments themselves are very nice and don’t feel like the typical college apartment. There is so many amenities and places to study that you don’t have to leave the apartment if you don’t want to. The location is great with both Franklin street and UNC campus a few steps away. I couldn’t recommend Carolina square more!

Carolina Square has been home for 4 years now, and Ive enjoyed every second! The people and the service is great! I submitted a maintenance request and within five minutes someone was at my door. Martin was super friendly, fixed all of the issues, and couldnt have provided better service. 20/10 recommend!!

How you gonna charge so much then have no guest parking at all.. they tell you to go pay for it at the adjacent parking garage.

Pretty decent place, its just expensive. The pool and gym a pretty good. Main issue is you cant open your window so theres no fresh air in the apartment. The other issue is the administration tries to nickel and dime you, despite the already high price. Look at the video below- this is how I left the apartment and I was charged an expensive cleaning fee! Unless the administration changes, I would not recommend living here.

Came on to give a quick review.I needed something fixed and ran into Dennis the maintenance manager in the hallway and he addressed my issue quickly. Usually with any other complexes Ive lived at it was sorry you have to put a work order in so this was a pleasant response. Its the small things that makes you appreciate where you live that much more. Thank you

Loved my time living at Carolina Square. Hannah and her staff were super helpful through my time that I stayed. My apartment was walking distance to bars and restaurants with Target right there for groceries and essentials. I didnt need my car with the easy access to the bus stop and everything else close around. I would definitely recommend UNC students stay here. You really get the whole Franklin St/downtown Chapel Hill experience at this location. Apartments are awesome, spacious and modern.

I moved here from up north and I want to say this property went above my expectations. I go to school close by and love all this community has to offer. The staff is friendly and the maintenance manager Dennis always is friendly and gets the job done. Its a good feeling to like the people you live around and having staff like Dennis to make you feel like family is a plus.

I recently took a tour at Carolina Square and loved it. The people are great and very knowledgeable. They answered all of my questions. I went with my mom and I think she really liked. I hope to live here soon. I have a friend that stays here and he likes it a lot. Special shout out to the office staff Carlos Merrin and Hannah for helping us. We are applying to join the waitlist soon and hopefully get an apartment. These guys were great!

This place is beautiful!! I am relocating from Boston to Chapel Hill in about a year and I have looked at 15 plus different places. I love to be in the middle of the city with all the bars. I have been talking to Hannah and Carlos on the phone but neither where there when I came to tour. Merrin showed me around and the 2 bedroom on Franklin Street is to die for! Everyone should live at Carolina Square.

I had such a great first experience at Carolina Square due to the amazing staff that helped me! Specifically, Ada was so professional, kind, personal, and enthusiastic, and she worked so hard to help us in the process of securing an apartment for my daughter. Ada was so willing to help and very patient with all my various questions. I would also like to mention Nicole, another staff member who was extremely helpful as well. She, too, showed such a commitment to her job and was always timely and organized when sending us information. She was genuinely happy to relay the good news when an apartment became available. It was a wonderful experience connecting with these two young women, who are such great representatives of Carolina Square!

I am a UNC student and these are the best apartments around the campus. You have all the food and bars within walking distance and you don’t have to have a car to drive anywhere. I always feel so safe when I go home knowing Carolina Square has security guards and you can’t get into the building unless you live here. I have 3 more years of school and this is where I will stay until I graduate.

Carolina Square is an amazing place to live! The apartments are beautiful -- from the marble counter tops to the built-in closets. I love how the team always makes sure to decorate for the holidays. It makes the complex feel just like home! Carolina Square also makes sure to host events for their residents. Some of the events include young professional night at Lindas, coffee during finals, surprise pizza parties, and more formal dinners at Carolina Brewery. These events make Carolina Square an ideal place for both college/graduate students and young professionals. The staff is also some of the best around -- they never disappoint! Overall, I am very happy that I chose Carolina Square to be my home for this year.

Location is amazing and the apartment itself is pretty nice. However, some of the amenities are just not up to par. Study rooms arent always readily available (many room keys are out of battery) as well as wifi (how do people study without wifi). Study rooms are also unavailable after office hours. Pool table sticks are always broken. Stairwells are always dirty and littered with empty alcohol cans. One of the elevators in the B building get broken way too often. One of the staff has a RBF and scares me (the others look nice enough). Overall, the apartment complex is located in a great location but does not have very student friendly amenities, especially those who study more. If you are a student who doesnt need to study much, likes to party and have the money to blow here, then this is the apartment for you.Rating based on: location, amenities, staff, noise and quality1 star for location + 1/2 star for noise + 1/2 star for quality = 2 stars

If youre looking for easy access this is the place to be. Food, bars shopping is close by. Panera bread is one of my fav spots to eat and its walking distance. Staff is nice. Like any place else its going to have its problems. Maintenance has been good about fixing problems. I dont like people coming into my apartment but the maintenance manager Dennis and his tech i forgot her name, has always made me feel at ease. The lease mentions giving notice 60 days before you move out from the apartment even if you are moving out on the given date. In my opinion this is an obscure rule and should require an adequate reminder to the tenants out of courtesy. The only reminder that was sent to my roommate and I was through the resident portal messages instead of directly to our email or mail. This is not a source checked daily by anyone I know and is used strictly for making payments by my roommate and I. When management was asked about this method of notification they claimed to have called us numerous times and left messages as well. However, neither my roommate or I ever received a missed call from Carolina Square. This was a straight up lie that was told to us. We are now stuck paying hundreds of extra dollars because we were not notified in a proper fashion. Yes, it is in the lease, but thats a lease that was read over months ago and every detail is not memorized. Out of decency, proper notification should be given and when neither roommate replies to the original notification, it should be taken as a sign that a different method should be taken like perhaps an old-fashioned piece of paper on the door. In addition to this, our move-in date got pushed out twice and the elevator in the building broke down multiple times. When we payed our application fees and agreed to live here it was under the knowledge that we would be able to move in mid-July and receive Julys rent free. When we received our lease to sign, they had changed the move-in date to August 1st and a few months later changed it once again to August 10th with no rent free at any point. I would have never signed with them had I known any of this was going to happen and I will not be recommending Carolina Square to anyone. I cant wait to no longer have to deal with this place.

The quality of the apartments and the location in Chapel Hill cant be beat. Everything from campus to restaurants and bars are just a few steps out the door. You only need your car here if you work or travel frequently outside of town. The staff is friendly and responsive and plan fun community events and giveaways. The only downside to living here is the parking situation, which is common in this booming college town. Expect to pay a hefty price if someone comes to visit or stays with you as visitor parking is charged at an hourly rate.

Great modern apartment complex with great amenities. Staff is professional and easy to work with, however there seems to be a high turnover rate. Maintenance is very responsive if ever needed. Solid new construction, despite all the parties noise did not travel through the walls at all. The one downside to living here is the parking. The parking situation is untenable. If you have a guest visiting expect them to pay $60/day to park. Additionally residents have to pay $175/month for a parking spot that is not included in the rent. Overall, the location cannot be beat and the units are high quality and well maintained.

Parked my car in the deck while visiting one morning after it had rained all night, since the rates are reasonable as long as you dont stay long. First, its like they built the deck without thinking about the pedestrians that get out of a car - it was hard to find an exit that wasnt where the cars enter and exit; second, apparently the maintenance crew chose a weekday morning to blow the dust out of the deck so my car got coated in it; third, one of the gates broke between the time I got there and the time I left, and its not the first time Ive seen them that way. Pretty poor experience overall.

Put in an application that cost $100 to be offered an apartment with less then 24 hours to confirm I would take it. I responded to the email asking if this was the only apartment left as I didnt want a studio. They never answered that email, leased the apartment to another on the waitlist and then ignored my text two emails until finally responding saying that the waitlist had been closed. Nice building, bad customer service.Update: Since the original post they contacted me and offered me a studio for move in around mid May after I had originally requested a July or August move in. I appreciated this gesture but because of the initial problem all apartments that were to be leased in July or August were full.

The only reason this is a one star rating is because you cant go any lower than that, but if I could I would give carolina square a zero star rating. Dealing with the leasing office has been the absolute worst experience that I have ever had with an apartment complex. The staff is unorganized, uninformed, and best of all, liars. They told my roommates and I multiple times they were going to cancel our application, but they never did. I guess because they were having such a hard time trying to find people to live in their overpriced apartments that they felt the need to threaten us in some way. Now that I have found a much better place to live, the office wants me to pay for one months rent, even though I dont live there AND I never signed a lease! DO NOT live at carolina square, save yourself time, money, and stress.
